No new tab option

Before I updated my browser to the 4.0 (which I love considering this problem I am having) I had a + sign next to my tabs that were open so that I may open a new tab and I could also double click next to the open tab and get a new tab. I'm missing the + tab and if I double click it it just minimizes the browser. =/
Any help, please?

You can find the New Tab button showing as a '+' on the Tab bar.<br />
You can open the Customize window and drag the New Tab button that shows as a plus sign (+) from the Tab bar on another toolbar and it will become a regular toolbar button like the New Tab button that you have in Firefox 3 versions.<br />
If you can't find the new tab button then click the "Restore Default Set" button in the Customize window.<br />
If you want the New Tab button at the far right end of the Tab bar then place a flexible to the left of it.

  • Why did they take away the "Open In New Tab"option in Top Sites, Bookmarks, and History?

Why did they take away the "Open In New Tab"option in Top Sites, Bookmarks, and History? This very annoying.

Seriously - what could they have possibly been thinking? Mozilla, please tell us this was some kind of mistake. Accessing our bookmarks in FF-mobile is just plain bad as a user experience. And now without "Open In New Tab" we are supposed to drill down to our bookmarks for every tab we want to open? FF-mobile is almost useless without "Open In New Tab". Please restore "Open In New Tab" for bookmarks, thanks.

  • Why is there no New Tab option when I right click on a tab?

When I right click on a tab there should be a "Open New Tab" option.
Sometimes I have 50 tabs open in a single window and I just want to open a new tab beside the 1st tab. Instead I can only open a new tab at the very end beside the 50th tab.
Please add this feature as IE has this. Thank you.

  • Is there a way to bring back the "Open a New Tab" option via right-clicking on the Tab?

I just upgraded to latest version of Firefox (6.0). Yesterday it informed me that an upgrade to Firefox 5.(something) was available and asked if I wanted to upgrade. I went for it. However, I hadn't used it since then till today. Now when I opened it today it asked me if I wanted to upgrade to version 6.0. Without hesitation, I went for it too.
While this version looks nice, it feels a bit odd to use it. Previously whenever I wanted to open a new Tab, I right-clicked on any of the Tabs (active tab or any other Tab) and after right-clicking, it had the option to '''''Open a New Tab''''' along with few other options. Now there's no such option. There's the + button to open a new tab, but what if I want to open a link in a new tab by right-clicking on it? Similarly the option to Open in New Window is also missing.
Is there a way to bring back those previous Tab options/settings? If yes, how?
P.S. In my bookmark toolbar, when I click on a bookmark icon, it has the same options/settings as it previously had in the last version I used (last version I used was 3.something; while I'd upgraded to version 5.something I hadn't used it except for opening the browser when it asked me to upgrade to version 6.0). Options on right clicking the bookmark icon are:
    Open
    New Bookmark...
    New Folder...
    New Separator
    Cut
    Copy
    Paste
    Delete
    Properties
I'd also like to mention here that I know of the shortcut keys; so please don't waste your time by trying to help me that way. Thanks.

No. The Tab bar is a regular toolbar in current Firefox versions, so you get the normal right-click context menu of a toolbar if you right-click the tab bar.
You can double click on empty space on the tab bar to open a new tab if you do not want to use the new tab button.<br />
You can drag a link on that new tab button to open that link in a new tab.<br />
You can also drag the new tab button on another toolbar if you would like that better.<br />
Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"<br />

  • Open in new tab option missing

i'm not entirely sure what caused this change, and i can still access new tabs with the cmd- and cmd-shift- clicks, but for some reason the option for "open link in new tab" no longer appears when i "right click". i can't think of any major changes i've made to my computer recently that would cause this, but it started a few days ago and it's extremely annoying, if a small problem. any ideas?

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
From the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Empty Cache.
    Relaunch Safari.
See if that helps. If not, go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem. Safari: Add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues

  • I have the open new windows in a new tab option selected yet it still opens in the same window.

    Firefox v28.0, Mac OS X 10.9.2, 3.5 GHz Intel Core i7.
Operating in safe mode. In the preferences menu I have the "Open new window in a new tab instead" box checked yet when I click on links the new page opens in the current window. If I control click I have the option of opening the new window in a new tab

The setting in Tools > Options > Tabs: "New pages should be opened in": "a new tab/window" is for links that specify a target window to open the link.<br />
That option allows to divert such links to a new tab instead of a new window.
Links that do not specify a target always open in the current tab unless you override that with a middle-click or Ctrl left-click (new tab) or Shift left-click (new window) or via the right-click context menu.

  • Firefox 4.0 inconsistantley opens new tabs, options are set to always open in a new tab.

Hi, I am new to firefox. I have it set up in a way I like I just have one issue. In the options I have Firefox set to open in a new tab, but most of the time I have to press the crtl key then click a link and it will open in a new tab. Most of the time if I do not press the crtl key the link launches from the same window. Is this just a Firefox bug?

I assume you are talking about the preference - '''Open new windows in a tab instead'''.
When a webpage is programmed to open a hyperlink in a new window that pref will divert it to a new tab instead. It doesn't affect hyperlinks that are intended to open in the same window; there's no pref for that. If you want every hyperlink to open in a new tab, you need to {Ctrl + Click} or Middle-Click ''(click on the mouse scroll wheel)'' - or look for an extension that adds that preference to Firefox.

  • Open Link In New Tab option has gone

When I right click, I expect for the options to include "open link in new tab". Yet instead, the only one that appears is "Open Link in new window". I've tried everything I can think of and there isn't an answer to how to get it back anywhere on the site.
This is very important, please let me know right away.

Try to reset IE to resolve the issue.

  • Why was the open link in new tab option removed in favor of a right click? This is inefficient and a step backwards in functionality.

This was an option on previous versions of Firefox and its annoying to right click to open in a new tab when it was a native function in prior versions.

the user cor-el has a method that does not require any add-ons. He States
This code in userChrome.css will move "Open Link in New Window" to the top of the context menu.
    <pre>@namespace url("<a href="http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul">http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul</a>"); /* only needed once */
    #contentAreaContextMenu &gt; * { -moz-box-ordinal-group: 2; }
    #context-openlink { -moz-box-ordinal-group: 1 !important; }</pre>
the user jay_ff shows how to do it using the Menu Editor Add-on
    1. Install the Menu Editor add-on from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/menu-editor/ .
    2. After the installation, go to Firefox> add-ons (or simply use Ctrl+Shift+A)
    3. Go to the Menu Editor "Options"
    4. In the "Main context menu," simply grab the "Open link in New Tab" and place it below the "Open Link in New Window"
    5. and Voila! You may also change other menu options if you want to!
I tried jay_ff method first and found that indeed changing the Main Context Menu did cause the hotlink context menu to change as well.

  • Is there any way to restore the 'Open New Tab' option in the tab bar drop-down menu?

After years of using tabbed browsing in Firefox, I've long-since gotten used to right-clicking the tab bar, and selecting the top menu item 'Open New Tab'. So much so that it has become reflexive. Now with v4, when I perform the same action, it now just reloads the current page. Is there ANY way to restore the option to the pull-down menu? I don't wanna have to move my pointer all the way to the other side of the screen just to open a new tab... (T_T)

Hello, I suffered from a similar problem with the new search bar type. I've found that you can go into '''about:config''', then search for '''browser.search.showOneOffButtons''' boolean and toggle that. This should restore the old functionality. (You might need to restart your browser)
Note that, like always, edit your '''about:config''' at your own risk.

  • Why the hell you've now decided to change the order of the "Open link in a new window" and "Open link in a new tab" options on the link menu???????????????

Why, oh why have you now decided to change the order of the link menu options? People were so used to it that I bet nobody even look at the menu, they just go for it as I do and many of my friends does!! Why change something that works so fine and has been since ever??

I like the new arrangement because I open new tabs much more often than I open new windows. It makes much more sense than the old way.

  • Safari, double click does not give new tab option anymore

    Hi,
Try resetting Safari. From your Safari menu bar click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 7 buttons, click Reset.
And check Safari / Preferences - Extensions. Might be an Extension causing the problem.
And try troubleshooting the Safari .plist file.
    Quit Safari.
Open a Finder window. Select your Home Folder in the Sidebar on the left. It has a small house icon. Then open the Library folder then the Preferences folder.
Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop. Launch Safari. Try tabs. If it works as it should, then move the .plist file to the Trash.

  • BB 10 Browser - Homepage and New Tab options

Hi all I'm hoping someone can answer a couple questions.
First, is it possible to set my home screen to my bookmarks list?
Secondly, can I set my New Tab page to also show my bookmarks list only?
Third, is there any way to make it so when I press 'K' to open my bookmarks list, that the bookmark opens in a new tab by default?
The new tab page choices are not ideal for me, as it shows sub domains which I do not care for when opening a new page.  Opening a bookmark from the bookmarks list replaces my currently open tab, which I do not want often, and I'd rather have old tabs open than replace a current tab that I want to keep.  And if I open the new tab screen then press 'K' for the shortcut it begins to search my history instead of opening the bookmarks screen.
Really, I only need one of these three options to be possible to make my browsing time on the Passport pleasant, but right now I can't find a way to do any of those things!

Actually your idea will work. Create an html file containing the sites you want as a one page web based bookmarks. Email the file to yourself and save it (you get to choose)
Use file browser to open the html file you created
This file will open in the browser and should show you all the sites you want and you can click on them to open the page
Set this page (which is just a pointer to the file) to your homepage (To do this click on the 3 vertical dots icon, select settings, Select Display and Actions, select Current Page)
Set the "On Startup Show" option to My Home Page...
Now when you open the browser it should open to your custom bookmarks html page
    Cheers
    Mike

  • Dual open new tab option

Just returned from a relative, who's also using FF. Much to my amazement, she has both a "Open new tab" icon on the menu bar and the "+" tab on the tab bar, whereas I can only drag it from one to the other, but there doesn't seem to be any way of having both options. It's not a very big deal, but sometimes it's useful to be able to open a new tab either way.
Is there any way of enabling this feature, and I'm not really afraid of editing any files to do so?
