No Notes mailbox icon in Mail

I have an icon for creating Notes, but none for the storage and retrieval of Notes (or to-do list, for that matter). How do I get an icon and where does it belong?
Thanks,
peggy

you should have a "Reminders" section in Mail sidebar. Notes and to-dos are there. if the Reminders section is collapsed, click on the triangle next to it to expand it.

  • Small mailbox icon SCANDAL

I am appalled that for the first time to my knowledge, mainstrean Apple software has required knowledge of a hidden right-click instruction for something simple, namely to display small mailbox icons in Mail
(rather than the huge ones that make your mailbox list extend off the bottom of the screen).
I just upgraded to Apple Mail 2.0.5 and found that to make the icons small you have to right-click in the mailboxes window.
Is this creeping Microsoftism? Can user complaints nip this nasty degradation of Apple standards in the bud?

  • I have an iPhone 5. Just downloaded the latest Upgrade and it is not updating my mailboxes or showing that I even have mail like the other version did, when I open the mailbox icon

i have an iPhone 5 and just downloaded the latest upgrade.iOS 7.  Dunno what happened but it no longer is "pushing" my email into my mailboxes nor is it showing that I even have mail when I open the Mailbox icon. What happened?  What do I need to do to fix? help

That number is for an apple server in the UK that is used for iMessage activation.  A hidden SMS is snet to that number when you turn iMessage on and is used to verify your phone number.  I suggest you turn iMessage off.  In settings/phone turn on dial assist.  Check with your carrier to see if you can send an international SMS as you end that possibility to activate iMessage.  Rest your phone (Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for device to restart (no data will be lost).) then turn iMessage back on.

  • Mailboxes disappeared in mail - rebuild not an option

My mailboxes (http mail account) disappeared after doing some automatic software updates yesterday and restarting as directed. Rebuild is grayed, so I don't think it's an option.

Oy, I feel dumb. Somehow an httpmail account mailbox icon appeared with all of my mailboxes under it. It did not look this way before. Do you have any idea why it changed? Doesn't really matter, since the mailboxes are all there (THANKS). I just don't know why mail seems to have rearranged my mailboxes that way and apparently on its own.

  • Mail: REALLY small mailbox icons?

I have a LOT of stuff in the Mail sidebar - multiple inboxes, notes, to-do's, RSS feeds, and archived mailboxes. I've already organized as much as possible into folders then closed the disclosure triangle. There's still too much.
I already use Mail's Use Small Mailbox Icons option, but even though I can choose smaller text sizes, the line height stays the same, resulting in me having to still do a lot of scrolling up and down to get the the folder I want to.
I'm pretty sure the answer is no, but is there any way to make those mailbox icons even smaller than Small mode? I'd love the sidebar to be pretty tiny so I could view most of my folders/items at once.

You can also find this menu item at the bottom of the View menu (v2.0.7).

Have you done a sampling of all users, or only those users that don't like it? While I don't mind it, I don't think I even noticed it at first until someone pointed it out.
I note that if you get Info on an item the icon is still colour so this is some OS level (we know best) overaly that's turning everything bland and boring, it would be nice if Apple let the user actually chose this rather than force it upon them ... just like Microsoft I'm sad to say.
Microsoft? The '90s are over. But regardless of what decade you are living in, Apple has never been too big on end-user customization of the operating system. Apple has always discouraged the use of "themes" whereas Microsoft will allow people to do pretty much whatever they want.
The file system icons are still the same as they have always been. The new monochrome icons are clearly a design trend more than any change to the underlying operating system. If you turn off the expanded view in any file save dialog (other than in Safari), you can still see the old, glorious, multicoloured icons. If you really wanted to, I'm sure you could change the system-level images and make Finder and Mail look just like they used to.

  • "On My Mac" does not map to ~/Library/Mail/Mailboxes

OK, while fighting my IMAP issues with SpamArrest, I'm trying to cleanup my mailboxes to make sure I have nothing funny happening with my Mail apps. One thing I noticed is that the list of folders listed under "On My Mac" in Mail is not exactly the same as what is listed in ~/Library/Mail/Mailboxes.
There are 4 more mboxes in ~/Library/Mail/Mailboxes than in the "On My Mac" section of Mail. They are:
    Deleted Messages.mbox
    Drafts.mbox
    Notes.mbox
    Outbox.mbox
Given their generic names, I am wondering if this is just normal and they only come into play when I'm offline.
As an aside, part of the reason I'm looking at this is that I keep getting IMAP mboxes created in there that shouldn't be. For example, I have both:
    Drafts (CarnerosVentures (SpamArrest)).mbox
    INBOX.Drafts (Carneros Ventures (SpamArrest)).mbox
Since these are local files, I assume it's safe to delete all of the mboxes with the name "SpamArrest"in them in that folder. e.g.
    Deleted Messages (Carneros Ventures (SpamArrest)).mbox
    Drafts (CarnerosVentures (SpamArrest)).mbox
    INBOX.Drafts (Carneros Ventures (SpamArrest)).mbox
    Sent Messages (Carneros Ventures (SpamArrest)).mbox
They'll just be recreated if/when they are needed. Is that correct?
    Thanks,
    Chip

Drafts, ToDos (Notes), and Outbox are found normally in the Mailboxes folder but do not usually appear in the On My Mac section. As for Deleted Messages that may be a remnant from before you used an IMAP account or if you at one time configured Mailbox Behaviors in Mail preferences to keep deleted messages locally instead of on the IMAP server.

    hello
The problem appeared two days ago is that I can't open my mail app. everything was fine and functional. Now I double click on the icon and it does not respond. it receives mail and I can see push notifications on the mail icon but when  I try to open it is no use. OS Y 10.10.2 (14C1514)

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
              Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder—not just its contents—to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Restart the computer. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. Any custom stationery that you created may be lost. Ask for instructions if you want to preserve that data. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Iphone loads negative messages (-5, eg) and not able to view mail

My mail is acting so weird - my red circle on the mail icon always shows negative new messages (-4 or -8, etc.).
I deleted the account and re-input my info and saw it load all the messages, but after loading, none can be viewed.. it actually seems locked up. It only displays ONE message - the most recent, but I can't even open that.
I was running 2.0.1. Same result after I updated to 2.0.2
I have restarted the iphone, reset network settings, reset the phone - all to no avail! Is it just broken?

I'm in the same boat and currently on hold with Apple - aaarrrgggghhh! My email is a Verizon account (POP). Connection doctor tells me everything is connecting, I've downloaded the most recent mail update, and I've tried many solutions posted on forums that have not worked. The mail icon is in the dock but does nothing when selected. When I manually open up the mailbox through File>New Viewer Window, all mailboxes are there but are empty. Any ideas? Am I looking at an archive and install? Thanks!

  • No archive icon in mail

iOS shows an archive icon in mail, to save documents. I have the newest updates, not able to archive. Any thoughts?

Where are you getting that information? You can only add additional mail boxes if you have an IMAP email account and the "archive" folder is a gmail thing.
If you go to your email account in the Mail app and look at the window where your inbox, trash folder and sent folder are - if there is an Edit button at the top of the window - tap that and then tap Add Mailbox at the bottom.
If the Edit button is not there - you cannot create folders on the iPad. Your email account is not IMAP. Only IMAP email accounts can create folders on the iPad. Any folders that you would already have in an IMAP account would sync to the device as well.

  • Probably simple question about mailbox icons

    Hei folks,
Sorry if this topic has been answered before, but my search didn't bring anything suitable up.
For the question: I have 3 Imap-Accounts, and each of these got another collection of icons in Mail:
    image: http://img204.imageshack.us/my.php?image=sidebarnh8.jpg
The accounts named Web, FSMB and myTUM are all 3 IMAP Accounts.
    So why does
-> Web have an icon within my inboxes collection WITHOUT subfolders but WITH that grey (@) icon
-> FSMB have an icon within my inboxes collection WITH subfolders AND WITH that grey (@) icon
-> myTUM have an icon within my inboxes collection WITH subfolders but NO grey (@) icon
I mean, I think I have configured them all the same way, and it just bugs me a little, I'd like to have them all under 'My Inboxes' or how it's called in English, WITH subfolders, but get rid of the grey ones that just use up space!
If there IS a solution (and probably it's darn simple and can be done with 5 clicks, huh), it would be really cool.
Thanks for reading (and perhaps answering),
    Jojo
(PS: as always, please excuse my bad English)
PS2 & edit: Also - why do I have only outgoing mailboxes for web (imap) and gmx (pop) and not the others? arg!

    Hi Jojo.
It seems to me that you posted in the wrong (Panther) forum, but the answer would be the same.
The accounts for which Mail shows mailboxes on the server as subfolders of the account's Inbox require INBOX to be put in Preferences > Accounts > Advanced > IMAP Path Prefix for Mail to handle them properly.

  • Notes do not save in Mac Mail.  What gives?

I am running OS 10.6.3 and am trying to type a note for the first time in the Mac Mail program. I type the note and then press "DONE" and the note immediately disappears, nowhere to be found. I try to access the note by going to MAILBOX->GO TO->NOTES (or command 7) but the option isn't highlighted. The program is acting like there are no notes to be seen and therefore there is not a "notes box" to access.
What's with these NOTES? Am I doing something wrong?

    Hello Carolyn,
thanks for your answer about the notes. Still, even under reminder, the "Notes mailbox" remains empty.
When create a note on my Iphone (with the default note app) and sync it to my Mac, the note rightfully appears in the Notes Mailbox, just as it should.
But when I create a new Note (File / New note) and hit "done" on the note UI, the note really vanish forever!
I have to send the note to my inbox with he "to" icon and then drag the new note from my Inbox to the the Notes mailbox so it becomes a real note and I can sync it with my Iphone.
I wish I could simple create a new note and save it right away in the note mailbox.
    How can I do that?
