No ODBC Connection to select in Universe

Hello
I'm using BO EDGE 3.1 SP1 with SAP Integration Kit SP1.
In Universe Connection, it don't have any ODBC connection to database like MS Access,MS SQL Server.
I don't know why it disappear and when i open efashion.unv, i got the error CS:Unable to bind Network Layer.
But  i can create ODBC in Microsoft Window and can use it to retrieve datas by testing in Microsoft Excel.
I tried to repair BO EDGE 3.1 SP1. It's only have repair and remove, i choose repair and nothing to do. But it didn't work.
My question is
Why it disappear from Universe Connection? and How can i install ODBC connection again?
Thank in advance
Ditthanan Phoncharoensri

Hi
Yes wavery , I can create ODBC at Data Sources (Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Data Sources (ODBC)) and it still has efashion and club odbc.
But i cannot create a ODBC connection on Universe to connect to ODBC on window data sources because it don't has. You can see it on above reply with image url.
I want to know how could i custom install ODBC data access on Edge3.1 SP1?
Thank in advance

  • How to find the number of ODBC connections to Oracle Database

    Hi All,
How to find the number of ODBC connections and all connections to the Database in last week. Are there any views to get this information?
    Thanks in advance,
    Mahi

What Ed said is true that Oracle doesn't note which type of protocol is connecting to the database, however, you can see which program is accessing the database.
For example: if you already know of a user using ODBC, you can verify as:
select username, osuser, terminal, program from v$session where username = 'SCOTT'
    USERNAME                 OSUSER          TERMINAL   PROGRAM
    SCOTT                    IUSR_SRV231     SRV231     w3wp.exe
    SCOTT                    IUSR_SRV231     SRV231     w3wp.exe
2 rows selected.Assuming that you can confirm the progam noted in the above (example) is the one using ODBC, then you can change the query such as:
    SQL> select username, osuser, terminal, program from v$session where program = 'w3wp.exe';
    USERNAME                 OSUSER          TERMINAL   PROGRAM
    SCOTT                    IUSR_SRV231     SRV231     w3wp.exe
    SCOTT                    IUSR_SRV231     SRV231     w3wp.exe
2 rows selected.Just for kicks, I checked our listener.log file, but there was no reference of odbc in it either.
    Hope this helps...

  • CR2008 connectivity issue with BOE Universes(sap and non sap universes)

    Hi Experts !!
Recently we tried to build/connect to a Universe in Crystal Reports2008 via 'Make a new connection tab'.
The universes are of SAP BW or non SAP Lying in BOE Servers and we are trying to build reports on them by conncting/utilizing the universes as a database for Crystal Reporting.
Our issue is most of the time we are not able to connect to the Universes and the connectivity blows out by some 'communication Error' thing initially.
While at some other points in time, the connectivity takes us to the Universe and we are able to select few characteristics and key figures from the Universe but the moment we go futher and try to run by pressing 'OK' button it blows out and say' LOGON FAILED'.
Apparantly, it is an connectivity issue with BOE server and from the different blogs it looks like it is a known issue for long.
The proposed issue resolution were like either CR2008 should be SP2 with BOE SP3 or there should be some additional .dll files defined in the paths in case of MSSQL database. None of this applies to us as we are on CR2008 with SP3 and going back to SP2 is probably not a viable option for us, and we are using Oracle as underlying database in this specific case.( i would like to tell you here that we are able to connect to Oracle Database directly though).
We have raised a message with SAP and was just wondering if we do have some solution/workaround already available to this known issue in place please?
    Thanks&Regards.

    Hi Amit,
    Moved to Universe Forum.
If you have a case logged then no point posting here also, this is a public site and not a case management tool.
Once you do get the solution from your case please post it here also to help others if they have the same problem.

  • ODBC connection not able to see all schemas

    Hi everyone,
We have noticed an unusual problem that just recently started. In our database, I have created a read-only user - only has the ability to connect to the database, and SELECT ANY TABLE. Then we have some applications (Crystal Reports and Lotus Notes Agents) that use this user to query data. The applications use an ODBC connection, and when we initially set this up, everything worked beautifully.
However, suddenly we have noticed that the ODBC connection is not able to see all of the schemas in the database. We have tested and confirmed this - using either 9.02 ODBC or 10.01, this happens with both of them. I created a couple new ODBC connections, one for each version, then I try to create a new Crystal Report, using this ODBC connection - when I connect using the read-only user, it connects just fine, but when it shows me all of the schemas available, I am only seeing about half of them (and of course not seeing the one that I really need to see).
However, when I use Microsoft Access, and try to import some External Data, and I use the same ODBC connections, then I AM seeing all of the schemas.
Has anyone ever seen anything like this? Any ideas on what I can do to troubleshoot?
    Thanks,
    Brad

I'm trying to get this issue figured out. Can you
tell me what you mean when you ask me to log in
directly as the same user using ODBC and query
ALL_TABLES - how would I do that?Using whatever Oracle database account you use in Crystal, log in to the database using SQL*Plus (or your favorite GUI like SQL Developer) and run a query like
    SELECT owner, table_name
FROM all_tablesDoes that query show all the tables you expect, or are you missing some?
Also, you mention a parameter in the ODBC API that
controls which schemas are returned - is there any
way to see that value? An ODBC trace might show the value, I don't recall if the actual value is written out in the trace. Different front-end tools often have a place that allows you to filter out certain schemas, which is generally done by passing in a parameter to this ODBC API call. I don't know enough about your tools, though, to know where this might be.
Are there any other ODBC drivers I could try? There are plenty of third party ODBC drivers out there, but I would tend to be suprised if the ODBC driver was at fault here. You could also try patching the ODBC driver and/or Oracle client to the most recent patchsets.

  • OBIEE 11g ODBC connectivity error

    Hi all,
I am getting the following error when I tried to access a simple query through Answers.
"*Odbc driver returned an error (SQLExecDirectW).*

    What I did was
    1. Create a DSN 'orcl', 32 bit Oracle ODBC driver. Tested and worked against the Oracle database.
    2. Import metadata using Local, ODBC 3.5 and DSN = orcl
    3. Build a simple BMM and subject area
    4. In the phyiscal layer, right click on a table, and select view data/update row count. Error with message "The connection has failed"
    5. Hoping for the best, create a simple query in answer and got the above odbc driver error in results tab.
Interestingly, if I edit the connection pool and use OCI (my SID is also orcl), then everything works fine.
I'm new to OBIEE and hope someone can tell me if I have missed a step or make any mistakes!
    Thanks!

    Hi All,
I am able to connect SQL Server database with OBIEE 11g RPD offline and imported metadata and verified update row count/view data but when i was trying to publish the same RPD the data is not returning also "update row count/view data" is giving and error "The connection has failed."

You want me to create a ODBC connection in RHL 5 server to connect to SQL Server ? i am little bit confused here how to create !
same time i have created ODBC for oracle apps database and imported and able to view data in RPD when i am in Online mode.
When i open RPD in online mode and trying to import the data i dont have access to local machine ODBC's which is expected and if i change to "Remote Server" nothing is showing here.
Appreciate your comments on the above.

  • Error creating a multisource data foundation with generic odbc connection

    Hi all,
we've created a generic odbc datasource connection to a Pervasive database.
When creating a single source data foundation and universe with this connection everything works fine.
When we try to create a multisource data foundation we can add the connection,
but while trying to expand the connection we get the error message "Owners are not available".
Same message when trying to inert a table.
    (We've created both a 32 bit and a 64 bit DSN)
    System: BO 4.1 SP2 PL3
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Silvia

    Hi Silvia,
The generic odbc is not a supported connection for a multisource universe.
This information is available in the product availability matrix.
    1. Log into the SAP Support Portal
    2. choose the Tab for Release & Upgrade Info
    3. Choose the Link Product Availability Matrix.
    Hope this helps!

  • Visio Database Wizard fails - ODBC connection to MS SQL

When I try to create an ODBC connection in Visio's 2010's Database wizard I get the error: "Cannot set the database context information. Additional error information:ODBC Error: s1009. Database cxweba does not exist."
Note that the database name is cxwebapp_bkk. I get the same error if I connect to any database on that server, and it always truncates the name in the error message (if that is a hint to the error).
Using Visio 2013, after connecting to the database: when I select the database object I get the error message:  "The selected table has only one field or contains no definition information. The Database Wizard requires a minimum of one key field
    and one additional data field."
I have this problem using both SQL Server driver (6.02.9200.116384 and SQL Server Native Client 11.0 (2011.1102.2100.60).
I do not have this problem connecting to a MYSQL database with either version of Visio, nor do I have this problem when I link link to the same SQL database in a drawing and link shapes in that drawing using the "Link Data to Shapes" under the
    Data tab.

    Hello,
What's the version of the SQL Server instance you connect to? It seems that the Database Wizard in Visio 2010 not work well with the Microsoft SQL Server ODBC driver. Did you try to use the Generic OLEDB Provider for SQL Server?
Since the issue is more related to office Visio, please post the question in the following forum. More experts there will assist you:

  • Can't create ODBC connection in Windows Server 2012R2

I just finished installing the instant client & odbc connection on Windows Server 2008R2. I then attempted to perform the same installation on a new Windows Server 2012R2 instance and encountered the following issue.
After extracting the contents of the 64bit instant client & odbc files into c:\oracle\instantclient_12_1, adding this to the path statement, and adding a TNS_ADMIN environmental variable, I successfully ran odbc_install.exe from an admin cmd window. I then opened the 64bit ODBC Data Source Administrator, clicked add, selected the Oracle in instantclient_12_1, and clicked finish. As soon as I did so, I received the following error: "The setup routines for the Oracle in instantclient_12_1 ODBC driver could not be loaded due to system error code 126: The specified module could not be found. (c:\oracle\instantclient_12_1\SQORAS32.dll)"
I uninstalled the odbc client (odbc_uninstall.exe) and attempted again with the 32bit version & 32bit odbc configuration screen. I get the exact same result with 32bit as I do with 64bit.
    Any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: Nevermind. Apparently I needed the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package for the correct DLLs

    Hi,
    I am running Netweaver 7 and ERP2005.
J2EE support pack is 9. The sap note that you mentioned is for NW2004 and our system is running on NW2004s.
Now I am trying to reconfigure the sld. In case if you can suggest me another solution, I will be very happy to try that out...
    Thanks for your reply

  • Multi Value Parameter with ODBC Connection

    Hi Everyone . . .
    I am stuck, and have been since Monday :/ . . .
    Backgroud:
I am using Report Builder 3.0 with an ODBC connection to build reports off of our Vertica DB.  This part is going swimmingly, thanks to the help I recieved from this forum.
Now, some of the queries that I am using (or reports I guess) require parameters.  I was attempting the @Parameter and quickly realized this was not possible with the ODBC connection.  I have solved this issue by using the ? as the parameter.
Works nicely, not as clean, but serves the purpose.
Most, all of my parameters to this point have been single value parameters.  Now, however, we are dabbling in allowing our report users to select multiple Users as a parameter.  This is where I am stuck...
I have flipped the parameter checkbox to "Allow multiple values", I then recieved an error saying this:
Cannot add multi value query parameter 'UserName' for dataset 'RankingQuery' because it is not supported by the data extension.
Here is what I have done:  I have gone to the Dataset properties for the appropriate query that the parameter is being fed into > then to the Parameters tab.  In the Parameters tab instead of selecting the @UserName parameter from the drop down
I clicked the Fx buttone and inserted the UserName Parameter from there it looks like this: =Parameters!UserName.Value(0)
Now because of this last step my report runs without error, however, when I select multiple user names from the parameter drop down I only recieve data for the first person selected in that drop down.
Am I missing something?  Does anyone know how to fix this?  Please help!
    Thanks everyone.
    Travis

    Hi There
Thanks for your posting. Can you please try this way? Go to your dataset properties and then go to filter tab and add filter like this
Please choose your dataset filed name from the dataset in which you would like to apply the filter for your parameter
    UserName
    Put operator=in
And please put value like= Parameters!UserName.Value
    Please do not put Parameters!UserName.Value(0)
I hope this will resolve your problem
    Many thanks
    Syed

  • No. of Connections needed for creating universes from SAP BEx Queries

    Hello,
I have 8 SAP BEx queries, my task to create to universe for all of these queries. I have created a datasource connection, my question here is can I use the same connection for all the queries by changing datasource connection and selecting the new query or is it suggestable to create 8 datasource connections in universe designer??
please let me know if you need any more info.
    Your reply is highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Naresh

    HI,
You need to create 8 connection for 8 BW queries. There is  one to one mapping in the universe. If you change the existing connection source then it will not work for earlier query.
Other thing you can check like you have 8 queries then instead of creating 8 universe if possible then merge some queries in the single bw query and then create universe.
    Thanks,
    Amit

  • JDBC-ODBC connectivity problem

hi ,i have a j2se 1.4.2 version installed on windows 2000 professional.i have j2me wireless toolkit 2.0,Oracle 8i(8.1.5),tomcat 4.0 running on system.I have tried to connect to the database in Oracle through JDBC-ODBC bridge but it becomes non-responsive.The same has been working well with Oracle 9i versions and also in Oracle 8i when ODBC driver is selected as Microsoft ODBC drivers for Oracle but not with Oracle drivers for Oracle. Can anybody tell me the compatibilities of JDBC-ODBC bridge versions, oracle and ODBC drivers? And can u tell me how to connect to oracle through a pure Java JDBC drivers on a standalone system?

well,i think nobody has interest in my question.I have asked two questions.
1)Can anybody tell me the compatibilities of JDBC-ODBC bridge versions, oracle and ODBC drivers?
2)And can u tell me how to connect to oracle through a pure Java JDBC drivers (type 4 drivers) on a standalone system?
But u advise me not to use JDBC-ODBC bridge without studying the other part.

  • How to create ODBC connection between Oracle 10g and MS SQL Server

    Hi,
Can someone help us with the steps to create an ODBC connection between Oracle APPS using Oracle 10g database and MS SQL Server.
Requirement is to extract the transactional data from MS SQL Server on a daily basis and dump it into Oracle tables for an interface to be run. Currently it is being done through Dataloader tool which we feel is causing the data issue with Arabic characters. We want to create the ODBC directly between Oracle and MS SQL Server and check if the data is being pulled correctly.
The data is in sql server 2000 which has data in Arabic_CI_AS character set which is moved to Oracle 10.2.0.3 database with characterset AL32UTF8. The table data is moved to oracle using the dataloader 3.6 standard edition licensed version. We cannot change the character set of Sql Server 2000.
    Please help
    Thanks
    Shanil

    Hi,
If you're trying to PULL data from SQLServer into an Oracle database, you wouldnt use Oracle ODBC driver for that, so you may want to post in the Heterogeneous Services forum instead:
    Heterogeneous Connectivity
If you're trying to PUSH data from SQLServer into an Oracle database, you could use ODBC but most folks use OLEDB for that, and the following note on MOS should help:
How to Create a Sql Server Linked Server With The Oracle Provider for OLE DB     (Doc ID 191368.1)
As with any NLS related issue, the first thing to do is dump the codepoints of the data in the Oracle database to see if it is stored validly, rather than relying on what the data "looks like" from some tool or other. It's best to check a single row, with only a few characters in it if you can, and you can do that via
    SELECT DUMP(<columname>,1016) FROM <tablename> WHERE ...
    Hope it helps,
    Greg

  • Using SQL queries via ODBC connection to obtain data for a report

    Post Author: adhiann
    CA Forum: General
    Hi All,
I was trying to run a Crystal Reports report through Clearquest using an SQL query I designed in CQ to give me the data I need, however, from within ClearQuest, I cannot associate an SQL query on a report, so I went directly to Crystal Reports and am using the ODBC connection to the ClearQuest database to run the report. I selected the right tables and fields and am using the same formula that I used on ClearQuest's SQL query to get the data, however, the report doesn't return any data whereas I am getting at least 5 records from Clearquest for the same query.
Granted there's a difference in the way you create a SQL formula in Crystal, but I don't know if I'm doing it right as I've never had to use CR as a standalone product.
Is there a way I can directly plug my ClearQuest's SQL query into the CR and run it? I don't know why the results won't return any data for a query that has some results
    Thanks in advance

  • MS SQL Server ODBC Connection On Linux

    Hi All,
I am badly stuck with configuration of MS SQL Server ODBC connection on SUSE Linux 10. I am almost tried everything I got from SAP notes but still getting ODBC Lib Data Direct drivers could not be loaded IES 10901.
ENV: SAP BO 4.0 SP7, MS SQL SRV 2008
Here is what I have tried so far:
    1) Modified env.sh under /install_dir/sap_bobj/setup and added the line in bold.
    ":${BOBJEDIR}enterprise_xi40/linux_x64/odbc/lib:${BOBJEDIR}enterprise_xi40/$SOFTWAREPATH32/odbc/lib"
The line should look like this
    LIBRARYPATH="$LIBDIR:$LIBDIR32:$WCSCOMPONENTDIR:$PLUGINDIST/auth/secEnterprise:${CRPEPATH64}:${CRPEPATH}:${MWHOME}:$PLUGINDIST/desktop/CrystalEnterprise.Report:

    2) We have .odbc.ini file in the home directory of our BO user on linux. Added following DSN entry (Same DSN is created on client and odbc connection has been created on the universe using this DSN:
    boeadm01:~> vi .odbc.ini
    [DSN_NAME]
    Driver=/opt/sapboe/sap_bobj/enterprise_xi40/linux_x64/odbc/lib/CRsqls24.so
Description=DataDirect 6.0 SQL Server Native Wire Protocol
    HostName=SQL Server Hostname
    Database=SQL DB Name
    QuotedId=Yes
    AnsiNPW=No
    3) We then added the environment variables and LIBPATH in BO user .profile file.
    boeadm01:~> vi .profile
    #Sql Server Environment
    ODBCINI=$HOME/.odbc.ini
    export ODBCINI
    LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/sapboe/sap_bobj/enterprise_xi40/linux_x64/odbc/lib
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH

    boeadm01:~> echo $LD_LIBRARY_PATH
    /opt/sapboe/sap_bobj/enterprise_xi40/linux_x64/odbc/lib
    5) Modified sqlsrv.sbo under /install_dir/sap_bobj/enterprise_xi40/dataAccess/connectionServer/odbc
      <Parameter Name="Use DataDirect OEM Driver" Platform="Unix">Yes</Parameter>
