No one bothers to answer legitimate issues...
Here are THREE itunes issues that it's high time there were some answers for, and some practical workarounds. I'm not the only one who is having these issues, but no one on here is getting any answers!
*Issue number one*:
since itunes 8.2.1(6) it has not been possible to play classical music using iTunes without astonishingly bad distortion - it still hasn't been fixed! And yes, I know, the answer is to stick with 8.2.1(6) - I have done that, but that is hardly the point, and it doesn't stop Apple pestering me to update.
*Issue number two:*
why can't you add your own images for albums and tracks any more - often the limited itunes catalogue doesn't have any for my music, and with coverflow I'd naturally like to look at something!
*Issue number three:*
Suddenly I can't amend my track information. To add insult to injury, I now get a cheeky little message suggesting that I might like to delete the music that I have paid for and have sitting around gathering dust on CD, and buy it again from the itunes store. The irony is that they don't even sell this material!
Let's please have some constructive answers - it seems as though what was a groundbreaking and intuitive music player has been sneakily morphed into nothing more than a cynical marketing tool designed to shackle mac (and pc owners - ooh, could that be the point?) to Apple's own record store!

you can stop being asked to update your software via system preferences > software update. just uncheck +check for updates+

but you you can add artwork by going these routes:
1) individual tracks
right-click and +get info+ on the file, go to the artwork tab and click on add. navigate to the image file on your HD. or, drag the image file into that artwork window.
2) multiple items
select them all in iTunes, +get info+, copy the image out of Safari or Preview, click once into the artwork box and paste the image into it. or, drag the image file into the artwork box.
*Issue number three:*
Suddenly I can't amend my track information.
check if you have read & write permissions for your iTunes music folder. in finder, right-click on it and +get info+. unlock the little padlock (you may have to enter your admin password) and change the permission settings. next, click on the little gear-shaped icon and +apply to enclosed items+ like so
you may also give everyone read & write access.
now try again.

No. Unfortunately, you can't combine Apple IDs togetehr, even if you own them all.

i have updated my ipad yestarday sicne then i am not able to open any application on my ipad2. some of the application able to open in the page and not able to open all the applications in the second page. Does any one got this type of issue? any suggestions?
This problem has been reported a few times. The solution is to install any new App say a free one. This seems to fix whatever has gone wrong.

HTC One M8 call history timestamp issue
I have waited patiently for several months through a couple firmware updates, expecting to see this issue addressed. However, it seems to have received very little attention or recognition.
Using the stock phone app, any calls prior to the current day do not display the timestamp. Only calls made or received during the current day display the time of the call. Any calls received/made prior to the current day only display the date. Any calls placed yesterday only display simply "yesterday." Long-pressing any entries without a timestamp to select "view history" only displays the call "duration."
A few friends have the same phone on another carrier and their devices display the name, phone number, date and timestamp in the "Call History" and "Phone" logs, even without the need to long press and "View History." They are also using the same stock Phone application. It is quite frustrating to not see the timestamps of missed calls.
The few references online regarding this issue seem to have concluded this is a carrier programming issue, as those on Verizon have the same issue and those on another carrier do not.
Does anyone using a Verizon HTC One M8 not have this issue using the stock Phone app?
Does anyone know of a fix or workaround to address this without installing 3rd-party apps?
Is Verizon planning to address this issue? Have they already?

Safari tries repeatedly to open a page. The page partially opens but then Safari reports that there's something wrong with page and I get an error message. This is happening at too many web sites for one site to be having issues.
I have a similar problem, Safari cannot load a complet page. It stalls e.g. ["38 of 42"]. sometimes it will complete loading after a long wait. just as often it will never complete the page,
The same thing happens in chrome and firefox but safari on my iPad works just fine.

Is that an UDF of Last Issue Date or standard field?

I got some help from an apple assistant on the phone. It is kind of round about way to get in.
Here is what he said to do and it is working for me...
a. on the device that is asking you for the security questions go to "settings", > "store" >
tap the Apple ID and choose view"Apple ID" and sign in.
b. Tap on payment information and add a credit/debit card of your preference then select
"done", in the upper right corner
c. sign out and back into iTunes on the device by going to "settings"> "store" > tap the
Apple ID and choose "sign-out" > Tap "sign -in" > "use existing Apple ID" and you
should be asked to verify your security code for the credit /debit card and NOT the
security questions.
d. At this time you can remove the card by going back in to edit the payment info and
selecting "none" as the card type then saving the changes by selecting "done". You
should now be able to use your iTunes store credit without answering the security
questions.
It's working for me ...I just have to put in my 3 digit security pin from the credit card I am using.

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. I got the run around from staff members with none explaining to me why as well as multiple emails avoiding the question and giving me the same stupid answer as below, are you going to tell merge same thing next week when my iPhone/ iPad goes faulty, your apologies mean nothing o me if you can't solve my problem
The iPod was booked in with the fault report, "unit does not connect to iTunes"
Putting the unit docking station, it charges but it does not charge when connected to a computer
The iPod is vintage so the are no parts or replacements for it

After I did this i changed the media kind to audiobook, and voila, one single book appeared in the Audiobooks submenu. The individual files aren't listed under their proper artist in the iTunes music folder, but I don't really care about that. I'm ok with having the book listed in Compilations as long as it's all in one piece.

If we have problems with the installed Safari version and need to reinstall, we cannot. At least not very easily.
If there has been some POLICY change, please issue a policy statement so we can understand what is going on. All of this is so un-Apple like it hurts.

Then, if it is, why is it so impossible to find a Safari installer for 10.7.5 NOT tied to having to go through hoops reinstalling 10.7 or 10.7.1 to get the 10.7.2 Combo updater that has a Safari version in it?

That was in the OP.
Yesterday's Software Update for Lion had nothing for Safari. Yet a new version was included with the one for Mountian Lion. I found that rather disconcerting and interesting. The last 4 Software Updates for Lion did not contain anything Safari.
And I am sorry, if Chris had covered the subject I would have thanked him and been done, but Apple has made it so frustrating. I have searched the internet for any Safari 5.1.7 or Safari 6.0.n installers. All hits were dead ends. Also very curious. This was done before I contacted Apple Support.
Your comment about feedback was a help. At least things are expanded there now that I could leave some feedback about the issue, specifically for Safari.

Applescript Display Dialog Default Answer Rendering Issue
After I installed Lion, I started having issues with Applescript rendering a dialog with a textbox.
This is the sort of thing I end up seeing:
The text box in the dialog doesn't render properly, and it's not possible to enter anything into it. I've played with the display dialog parameters but it doesn't matter if I give an empty string for the default answer or other text, the behaviour is always the same.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what the issue might be? I suspect I might need to reinstall Lion, but I'm not sure that's even going to clear up the issue.

The user account displaying the bug is an old one; likely updated continuosly from the days of Tiger or earlier.
A std account on the same drive, which merely went through the Snow Leopard -> Lion transition, does not exhibit the edit-text display bug.
So I bit the bullet, and used Migration Assistant to move to a new account on a clean install of Lion on a spare hard drive. 3.5 hours later, the Applescript edit text display bug is gone.
As far as I can tell, all docs, Apps etc. made it through intact.
If that continues to look true over the next few days, I'll try using SuperDuper! to copy the new drive back to the older, faster HD.
Perhaps some other Lion bugs'll also go away now that I've got a cleaner install. -
More Than One Hour Footage Audio Rendering Issue in Adobe Media Encoder (from AE)
Hi every one,
I'm having a render issue when I send an After Effects composition longer than 1 hour to Adobe Media Encoder for encoding H264 files. In this case, I'm trying to render an already rendered 70 min. 23,976 fps DPX sequence paired with a corresponding ".wav" audio file into the composition and the H264 file rendered by AME plays silent for the first 10 minutes and past those 10 "silent" minutes the audio comes back normally during the last 59 min and 59 sec exactly.
I've tryed every posible "solution" (changing the audio file from .wav to .aiff and .mp3) and assigning more ram to Adobe Media Encoder and it renders the same every single time.

Oscar.If you can't track down the audio problems some other way you have two options. Render to a production codec in AE then compress your production master in AME or tender only your subtitles (or use dynamic link) to a lossless with alpha format in AE and marry them to the original video and audio in PPro.
Actually, the first thing I would have tried when audio problems showed up would have been to render a production master using a visually lossless format like QuickTime JPEG 2000 and then compressed in the AME.
