No one can hear me on my iPhone4 when I get a call
Could be top mic is blocked. If you still have Warranty or AppleCare Coverage take to Apple for resolution of the problem.
Some have been able to clear the top mic with a straightened staple. Be real careful or you will damage the mic.
Some have pinpointed the problem to the mic IC loosening on the Logic Board requiring major resolding of this chip.

I had the same issues with my iPhone 4. No one can hear me on the call. Skype and other Apps using microphone works fine. I just turned off the bluetooth and this fixed the issue for me. I am not sure if this will help you but sharing this if someone gets a hit with this.

so frustrated.Well its defintiely nothing that Apple can activate to fix this. They would be able to troubleshoot with you though. This may be able to be resolved if its something software related.

Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
Release the Buttons...
If no joy...
Reset all settings
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.
This will return all iDevice settings to factory defaults... you will not lose any data.... But you will have to re-enter all of the device settings. -

IOS 4.3.3 has crippled my iPhone4...No one can hear me on all voice calls.
I updated to 4.3.3 the day it came out. Well at 5:00pm today all of the sudden no one can hear me with all voice calls. I have tried: power cycling, hard resets, backup and restore, and a full factory restore. Nothing is working! This is not hardware failure because I can still record voice memos...What do I do?
***my phone is not jailbroken and I have not downloaded any new apps today before the issue started happening***So I should have come back on here sooner and told everyone how I got this fixed...sorry. I ended up going to At&t and the rep made a few test calls (from a cell and landline) and neither worked. He told me to take it to an apple store. The apple rep had my phone for about an hour running tests and then finally told me no one knew the problem so they replaced my phone. My replacement phone came loaded with 4.3.2 and I was reluctant to load 4.3.3 because I didn't want to run into the same issue again, however, I did eventually upgrade to 4.3.3 and have not had an issue since.
My recommendation is to go through the standard troubleshooting steps (hard reset, wipe the handset back to factory, restore, etc...) if that does not work then take it to Apple. I do not have the extended warranty, but I was within my one year of having the phone (it was in near perfect condition) and they replaced it no questions asked.

when i use my ps3 mic while playing dc universe online no one can hear me, but i can hear everyone fine. the mic worked perfectly for about two months then all of a sudden no one could hear me...so i bought a new mic assuming the other one was broke, but the new mic is the same...no one can hear me....ive contacted the sony help line and they had me test everything on my ps3....it worked fine. so they sent me to this forum.....ive gone through everything and everything seems ok to me....please help!!!!

sounds like it is more than likely a hardware issue on the device but before calling applecare you could try to do a hard reset(hold the sleep/wake button+home button down together) if that doesnt fix it then try a restore but make sure u have your data backed up before you do.

I saw one post where a user with the same problem said dust got in the small mic hole. Used a vacuum cleaner to remove. Audio restored.

The mic on my iPhone4 has just quit also. Similar symptoms to yours in that people I'm talking to hear only static or my voice very faintly. The voice/memo recorder also only really records static.
It happened suddenly and seemed to get better after a day or two but then went completely after another day.
I'm returning it to Vodafone New Zealand shortly but will have to wait 5-10 days for a replacement. There are NO Apple accredited means to speed this procedure up in NZ.
We don't even have a single physical Apple Store where you could walk in and talk to a Genius. -
Does Apple make/sell the new "Apple In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic" with a one sided configuration? So that a person that is deaf in one can hear both sides of a stereo recording? Also, since the "other" bud is not necessary/useful...it's removed.
As far as I know, Apple sells no such configuration. However, under Settings > General > Accessability, there is an option to play back audio in monoural mode, which would then play both halves of a stereo mix in each earbud.

The i-Phone is great for everything except being a telephone...I bought the $100 ear phones with mic, I have tried Bluetooth until I am blue in the face, I have used it without any connection devices...but NO ONE CAN HEAR ME...everyone complains that I sound like I am in a well...very far away, etc. If I try to talk anywhere near my computer I get a buzzing that my callers hear! I have dead spots in my home and office that are not there with Sprint.
Someone help me or I am going back to my Spring Flip Phone where there were no problems.I had the same exact problem...Call Apple get a return authorization and take it back where you bought it for an exchange. Don't rack your brain trying to solve it. Bummer I know!
