No Online-Help displayed

I have just newly installed RoboHelp X5 for .NET on my
Windows XP, SP2 PC with Opera 9 (default) and Internet Explorer 6
SP2.
When I click the first or second item in the "Help" menu of
RoboHelp, nothing happens
. I.e. it looks as if the IE was trying to do
something. But nothing is visible on the screen.
The same behavior I get when I try to test the
Context-Sensitive help of a tiny FlashHelp or WebHelp project.
Below I describe what I do, perhaps I'm missing something
important.
1. Install RoboHelp X5 Pro.Net
2. Start RoboHelp
3. Click the first item in the "Help" menu.
Results:
Just nothing happens. This behavior is true for ALL help that
seems to use a browser.
We have tried on several machines. Always the same nonsense.
All PCs except mine use IE as default browser.
4. Create any Help-Project that relies upon a browser (e.g.
WebHelp, FlashHelp). Just two topics. Project name in my case:
FlashHelp
5. Generate the project and press "View Result". The result
is displayed in the default browser (Opera 9 in my case). This is
(astonishingly) ok.
6. Create Map-Ids for Context-Sensitive Help for the
available topics in the project. Generate project.
7. Start "CSH-Test", choose the appropriate "FlashHelp.htm"
and map-id-file. Press "Show Help".
Result:
Nothing happens. Obviously the Internet Explorer is trying to
do something. But you don't see anything on the screen.
The same utterly disappointing result you get when you create
a small C# application (derived from the example installed with
RoboHelp).
By the way:
If I create a HTML-Help instead of a FlashHelp or WebHelp
project everything works as expected, even my own C# application.
For HTML-Help there are, however, much cheaper tools than RoboHelp.
We want to use FlashHelp.
Comment:
I suppose that all this misbehavior comes forth from the same
problem.
And as I can't open the online-help I cannot even try to
figure out what could be wrong
Thanks a lot for any useful hint.
Walter

Hi Walter,
it looks like you are reading RHs airplane help (this opens
up the help on their server rather than the local help). If you are
having trouble reading the help, click the Tools menu | Options,
select the General tab and select 'Use offline help'....that's a
start. Hopefully others can help you with the more dramatic issues
you are experiencing.
Kind Regards
Craig

  • Acrobat Distiller 11 "Online Help Content Cannot be displayed."

Any one else packaged Adobe Acrobat 11 and found that all of the help menus display "Online Help Content cannot be displayed.  Verify you can launch your web browser and have access to the Internet."?  The problem is for Acrobat and Distiller, Adobe Forms Central is fine.
Ideally there'd be a way just to make the application be able to access the adobe help on the Internet.  I tried adding the FeatureState registry key as we are behind an authenticating proxy.  This made no difference.
As this didn't seem possible I've configured Acrobat to hide the affected menues and created a new menu which opens the Acrobat_ref.pdf - so Acrobat is now ok.  However, I can't find the Distiller pdfs, i.e. "distiller parameters guide" and "pdfmark guide".  Also I am unsure how you would configure Distiller to point to these on the local machine.  I've used the Adobe Customization Wizard to create the package.
Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Error "Online Help content cannot be displayed" | Acrobat XI

    Hi,
I receive the error message "Online Help content cannot be displayed" in Adobe Reader/Acrobat XI when I try to open it.
For Version 10.1.4 there is a Regestry fix: http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/error-online-help-content-cannot.html
Is there a similar solution for Adobe Reader/Acrobat XI?
I tried to replace the Version Number already, but there is no change.
Additional question: Are there still problems with the Proxy Server in Adobe Reader/Acrobat XI?
Thanks you for your help in advance.

  • Photoshop online help does not display

    Hello,
I am having exactly the same problem reported last year by Alex with online help. It has not been answered so far.
I'm using Photoshop CC 2014 French version under W7 64bits.  I have tried with different browsers (IE, FF and Chrome).
I get error 404 when I click on Help from the Help menu (or hit F1). The address displayed in the browser is
    http://community.adobe.com/chcservices/services/redirect?u=http://help.adobe.com&p=Photosh op_15.0&l=fr_FR&id=AH_HOME
    independently from the browser.
I tried the same from a different laptop and encountered the same issue.
There is a separate menu item in the help menu to access help resources.  It takes me to
    http://community.adobe.com/chcservices/services/redirect?u=http://help.adobe.com&p=Photosh op_15.0&l=fr_FR&id=AH_RESOURCE…
    This page does not exist.
    Can you help please?

That is a very strange link to be returned for accessing help. You should be lead to Photoshop Help | Photoshop Help (or specifically for you: Aide de Photoshop | Aide de Photoshop), but perhaps there is an issue with the French version having the incorrect address internally. When Alex reported this (I have not seen that post), were they also using the French version?

HP LaserJet Enterprise printers and HP Officejet Enterprise printers have cloud-based Online Help available to troubleshoot printing issues. HP Online Help users can scan a QR code on the printer display using a mobile phone or tablet, or click an error-specific link in the Event Log of the Embedded Web Server, to automatically retrieve the most relevant and up-to-date information or video to help resolve the issue at the control panel.

    Hi @Sunshyn2005
I timed-out waiting for advice, and contacted HP Support, who helped me get the printer back on the air.  While we didn't manage to root-cause it, in the course of trying various things, the tech disabled Norton 360's firewall, which then allowed connecting to the printer, and restoring print service, which remains up after re-enabling the firewall.
The timing of the disconnection doesn't neatly corellate with any Windows updates.  My own theory is that it was caused by a 360 update, but am unable to find a smoking gun, since 360 doesn't provide update history.  The exact root-cause remains a mystery, but at least provides another thing for folks to try should they find themselves in similar straits.
I really appreciated your hint that a Windows update might be the root cause, and your pointing out how to review the history and back-out updates: this morning, I found that Windows had installed a batch of updates overnight, and found that no browsers worked.  Using your advice, I rolled back the update, restoring browsing.
    Thanks,

  • Creating online help based on external documentation

    Hi there
I am in the process of writing a "handbook" for one application I have built. I will write it using MS Word, and it will have detailed information on how to use the app, including screenshots, arrows and other drawing objects.
I would like to add some online help to the app also, but instead of re-entering the same information manually in Apex (that would be limited to text only) I would like to re-use the document I will create in Word. Has anyone implemented anything like this?
One solution for this that I am considering is to break down the handbook file into a number of smaller files, one for each page, and upload them into Oracle as BLOBs (in a table with app_alias and page_id as PK). Then the help page would download and display these files (in some way, not sure how yet).
Ideally, the whole document should be uploaded as a BLOB and somehow the program should be able to extract only the bit that is relevant to the current page and display it.
    Any comments/suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Luis

    Hi
I don't think it is possible to know that (except if you ask the Apex dev team directly I suppose).
The solution I used was to create a Word document with the application help and export it as HTML. Then copied the HTML to a directory in the server and created a link in the app to open that HTML in a popup window.
    I hope this helps.

  • How to fix Online help issue with F1

    Dear All,
I think you already know this issue : when using a proxy, Online help is not working on Adobe Reader XI.
message displayed : "Online Help content cannot be displayed. Verify you can launch your web browser and have access to the Internet."
I already checked on this forum and tried some things to fix this, but without any success :
    - try to add the registry key FeatureState -> not working
    - check if IE is correctly defined as default browser -> it is
Accessing Online help from the Help menu was by passed by the following .js :
    app.addMenuItem({
cName: "MyHelp", cUser: "Adobe Reader XI Help...",
    cParent: "Help",
    cExec: "app.launchURL('http://helpx.adobe.com/reader.html');",
    nPos: 0
But, the message still appears when pressing F1 shortcut.
Details : Adobe reader 10.0.06 packaged through an administrative installation et customized with Adobe Customisation Tool
I tried to install directly from the setup.exe to be sure that was not caused by my package, and the issue is still the same.
I'm an application packager for the European Court of Auditors and we want that Help works through F1 shortcut. This is mandatory for me.
Thank you in advance for your help.

There is a problem with autoHeightRows and columnStretching used together in 11gR1.
    Have you tried without columnStretching?
Or have you tried if it works in 11gr2?
TimoHi Timo, Thank you very much for taking time to respond to my question.. :)
    Back to my question...
I tried removing the columnStretching although my requirement really requires this but no effect really happens even if I remove this.
Based on my investigation on the generated HTML, I notice the following items:
    1. A table is being wrapped in a div that is being set at a fixed height.
    2. On first load, if your autoheight rows is set to 6, the framework is setting a height of 96px to the div. This height would almost cut the last row of the table.
    3. If you try to refresh the page or try to re-PPR the component, the framework resets it to 102px which causes the last row to be fully displayed.
My only concern is that IE is perfectly displaying this while Chrome and FF are having problem.
Based on my understanding, the framework is messing up the height only on first load. Not sure but this is how I see it. I am really not confident also on my findings
and I would most likely hear other's comment.
    Thanks.

  • Photoshop cs6-Only online help?

Is the online help the only way to see the help files?
No help application as in photoshop cs5?
Will there be a pdf for viewing when no internet connection is available?
Added: Also there does not appear to be a list of keyboard shortcuts in the photoshop cs6 online help.
    Message was edited by: R_Kelly

    I took a look.
Here is what I did I use the above link Photoshop CS6 Quick Reference Guide. checked Keyboard shortcuts and click the Update button.
After a short while the columns were updated.
I opened updated PC Photoshop CS6 use Edit>Keyboard Shortcuts and use the set pull-down menu and chose Photoshop Defaults to make sure Adobe default were set.
I the started to compare the shortcut listed in the Edit keyboard dialog to the ones listed in the quick guide.  When I reach row 3 Actual Pixels the Edit Keyboard dialog surprised me for it listed two shortcuts  "Ctrl+1" and "Alt+Ctrl+0".
So I closed the dialog to try them.
First I use Ctrl+0 fit image on screen to enlarge as small image on screen in a floating window. It worked differently then in previous version of Photoshop. The image area was one pixel narrower and one pixel shorter the previous releases so the scroll bars were active where previous release they were inactive. So I dragged out the window to deactivate the scroll bars.
Then I tried Ctrl+1 it did zoom to 100% but it to made the image area one pixel narrower then it should be and one pixel shorter then the image area should be so the scroll bars were active till I dragged out the floating window to inactivate the scroll bars and show  the whole image.
I then tried ALT+Ctrl+0 the image was at 100% and remained 100% it resize the image are 1 pixel shorter then it should and one pixel narrower the it should be and the scroll bars were once again active. Previous versions of Photoshop resized floating windows correctly.
However both shortcuts listed in the Edit Keyboard Dialog did zoom to 100%.  The Quick Reference Guide listed No PC shortcuts for View Actual Pixels it only listed cmd+1 for the Mac so first two row look good  third row not good.
Actual Pixels  Display the image at 100% View Menu view > actual pixels  More Help Cmd + 1

  • Single source for different online help guides

I am glad that the single source layout pod in RH7 supports
    different channels.
I also need to output to different online webhelps using
shared topics. This is what should be called single source.
Is it the best practice to create a set of taylored and
overlapping TOCs for a related set of online helps?
My working environment consists of a single software product
with different user interfaces for different types (and levels) of
users. For each type of interface, a different webhelp is mounted.
How can I make sure that the online help title displayed in
the web help browser tab is the correct one for each variation of
    the online help?

Single source is anything that lets you get more than one
output from one source, be those outputs ten different webhelp
outputs or just one and a printed document output.
You can have as many webhelp outputs as you can manage. Right
click and add new ones or copy existing ones as a base.
Best practice depends on your content. You can have different
TOCs for each output or you can have a smaller number and apply
conditional tags. So with say 10 outputs you could have just three
or four TOCs and apply conditional tags to vary them. It's whatever
works best for you and can be understood by anyone you work with.
The scenario you describe would be ideal for the way RH
    works.
The title bar and browser tab take their text from the
Project Title in Project Settings so you will need to change that
    for each output.

  • Forms 9i Online Help Interface

I installed forms 9i and Changed NLS_LANG parameter to AMERICAN_AMERICA.
The normal menus is in English now but still the menus for the online help is displayed in Arabic Language.. I want the whole development enviroment to be in Egnlish Language Interface..
    How Can I do that???

Sounds like a Bug - I suspect that the Help system (because it is Java) is picking up the Environment settings from the control panel rather than from NLS_LANG - If you change your locale using the control panel does it then change?
Anyway you shoudl log a TAR with Oracle Support to get them to log a bug on this.

  • Photoshop Online Help Opens on it's own and will not close.

While using the Layer style editing window in Photoshop CS6,
Photoshop Online Help opens randomly when I click inside the layer blending box. If I have clicked the box more than once the help will open in multiple windows (sometimes over 10 windows). Then an error message pops up and when I click "ok" it doesn't close. I can't work in photoshop again unless I force the program closed with the task manager and then I lose any unsaved work. I'm not sure which error it is because I forced the window closed before writting this message and since it happens randomly I can't make it happen again in order to find out which error it is. Has anyone else had this issue? If so, is there an update that I can install that fixes the help page error?

You are not the first to report this problem, but to the best of my knowledge Adobe has never figured out what causes it.
The gravity of "never" in that context is increased by the fact that people have been seeing this problem on and off I think as far back as Photoshop CS or possibly earlier.
    Yes, really.
Nor has anyone discovered a solid workaround, though the advice to generally ensure everything is up-to-date is always good.
I had this same problem for a time on and off with Photoshop CS5, specifically when manipulating layer styles, and it immediately ceased when I updated my display driver - so from my perspective it seems to be brought about by latent memory corruption caused by another factor elsewhere, and Photoshop happens to respond to that corruption by popping-open Help.
My first suggestion is to go to the web site of the maker of your video card and download and install a fresh display driver.
If it is an ATI video card, I STRONGLY recommend upgrading to their Catalyst 13.3 beta 3 driver, as the currently released version is known to cause problems with Photoshop.
