No optical input on Audigy 2 ZS Noteb

I have the Audigy 2 ZS Notebook in a Toshiba Satellite P5-S409. I'm using a mini-to-Toslink cable to connect the input on the ZS to the optical out on the DVD player. I'm getting no sound in the notebook. I've covered the basic troubleshooting steps, e.g. making sure the input isn't muted. I've also tried connecting the ZS input to other optical out sources with no results, so I'm fairly certain the problem isn't related to settings in the DVD player.
Can anyone please suggest a fix? This is getting extremely frustrating.

Right, I've got a little further. I have plugged a DVD player into the Audigy box with a different cable (composite-composite, not scart-compostite any more) and it is working. Since I know that the VCR is working, I guess it must have been the scart-compostite cable that was giving me trouble.
Trouble is, I only have RF and scart outputs from the VCR. :-( I'll see if I can get hold of a different VCR and possibly a S-Video cable as well to test that.

  • Optical inputs on Audigy 2 ZS Platinum

I'm considering purchasing the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro and I have a question about the optical input functions on the external control box. I read that it can be used to capture music(i.e. from a guitar, etc) however I would be interested in using the optical input coming in from a stand alone DVD player or PlayStation 2. By doing this, would my speakers play the audio? In other words, will the optical inputs take the signal from an external device and process it into surround sound, AC3. I read that some other models will not, so thats why I'm asking.
Thanks in advance for any help!

I run my xbox and xbox 360 to the optical in with good results so im sure the out would give similar results.
So im gonna say yes, but im not sure.

  • I CAN'T RECORD INTO CUBASE SX 3 THOUGH MY OPTICAL INPUTS ON THE AUDIGY PLATINUM EX SOUND C

    Hi
Can you tell me how I can get sound into cubase sx 3 via the Audigy Platinum ex optical card? I have an optical output on my seperate mixing desk whic I have linked to the optical input on the card, but I just cannot get any signal into cubase. If I attempt to record using the creative software recorder - it works perfectly! As soon as I turn on cubase sx 3, it just doesn't work. Have you got any suggestions please.

  • Audigy 2 zs platinum Optical input

I have connected the xbox 360 into the optical input on my?audigy 2 platinum ?and i get surround sound and it is in sync for a while. After somewhere about 5-0min, the audio becomes out of sync with the video onscreen. If i unplug the optical input and plug it back in, the audio is back in sync for a while and then goes out of sync again. What can i do to fix this?I have the decoder enables in the option. No other programs are running. I have tried this with a dvd player with optical and also has the same problem. Thanks for your time ?Vince

4 to 5 months of emails to creative, and lots of reinstalling XP, i tried everything to get it to work, then they send youemails to tell you what things to do , but i had already done everything on their list, as i build computers for a living, so without being big headed if i cannot get it to work, then its faulty and no one is going to get it to work, as i said i invested more than money into this, as i spent over 5 months trying to get this to work, 30 or 40 installs of xp, different comfigurations to get it to work, the latest driver does not help either as the driver situation with creative is disgraceful, about time they realised a lot of people have the means now , high speed internet, to download the whole CD *. ISO,...
But no they want to fleece you some more just like MS in saying you can buy the newest drivers from them to fix their dodgy programming, dodgy hardware.
So all you can do is vote with your feet next time and purchase from another company, thats the only way creative is going to learn when their sales figures are hit for 6
I would not recommend going through the RMA process as mentoned b4, you will send them your 7. audigy 2 zs plat , and they will probably send you back a sound blaster 5. li've card, or an audigy 2 6. card.
they are useless and i gave up and stamped on the 6. they sent me as a replacement for a 7. audigy 2 zs platinum..
So email them, or even better if the company you bought it off are decent, get them to replace it, or better still as the company you bought it off to refund your money in the form of a credit note, then buy some other companys sound card, even if you have to be economical with the truth to the retailer, do it.

  • Can't get optical input to w

I have my XBox hooked up through my Audigy 2 Platinum Pro, and I was wanting to route the sound signal to my speaker system. I have the optical cord plugged into the Xbox output and into the Platinum Pro input, I have set the XBox up through the bios to output Dolby Digital and DTS and such. And I checked to make sure that the optical input wasn't muted or anything, and it isn't... but I don't get any sound from the XBox from this setup, and I don't know why. What do I need to do? (I have a 7. Speaker System also)

  • Does anyone know of a mini sterio with surround sound and optical input in Mac Mini form factor?

Does anyone know of a mini sterio with surround sound and optical input in Mac Mini form factor?
I use a Mini as the family media center and would like to have 5.1 or 7.1 sound for films but don't want a huge piece of eletronic equipment (I have one of those, but it isn't hooked up because it doesn't fit on the bookshelf). Years ago I used a PC and still use the Creative Audigy speaker system (Jimmy rigged to the Mini) that I ran from the PC. The Audigy PCI sound card obviously doesn't work on the Mini, so I just have two chanel plus sub. That has been fine since I switched to the Mini in 2007, but am updating to a new Mini in the summer and would like to upgrade my sound as well.
I also wouldn't be opposed to a USB soundcard that can drive the speakers. In fact, my wife would prefer smaller and less visible, ergo USB card hidden in the back.
    Suggestions?

Hello John, I figured it was a signal issue. All the speakers fire and the sound is great. I was running the speakers thru a Dell PC with a Creative X-Fi Elite Pro, THX Certified, 7.1 soundcard using a fiber optic from the Mac Pro to the Z906's, it worked great until the Dell died!!! When I bought the soundcard from Creative I also bought the GigaWorks S750, THX Certified, 700 watt, 7.1 speaker system, used the speakers for 11 years and then the woofer/amp said "I QUIT" Creative quit making the speaker system and the sound card. The satellite speakers from the Creative GigaWorks speaker system still sound great (rated at 78 watt each) and are a little better speaker than the one's that came with the Z906 and the wattage from the 906 is sufficient to drive the satellites without any distortion. Thank you for addressing my issue, you confirmed what I suspected all along, just needed to hear it from someone with the same setup.
One last question, I purchased a Diamond Multimedia USB Soundcard, can't use the fiber optic(not supported by Mac) but the green, tan and black RCA's plug in and produces adequetly. When you plug your 906's into the Mac Pro using the fiber optic how do you set your speaker configuration? When I plug into the mac pro with fiber optic the 'Audio Midi Setup' does not seem to see the 5.1 configuration. Any thoughts there?

  • I would like to connect my Apple TV to my receiver using an HDMI cable and pass thru dolby digital. I do not have optical inputs on my receiver.

I want to connect my Apple TV to my receiver using an HDMI cable. This should allow me to pass thru high definition video and simultaneously decode Dolby Digital material with an HDMI connection from my receiver to my TV without the use of an optical cable (my receiver does not have an optical input). I am unable to decode 5.1 material and don't understand why this is not working. In the audio setting I have Dolby Digital output turned on.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Are you sure the content you are playing has Dolby Digital.

  • How do I use optical input for recording in Garageband 9?

    Hi,
I'm trying to use the Optical Line Input on my G5 for recording in Garageband, using a MOTU 828. I have the 828 optical output connected to the optical audio input on the G5, and I have Digital In (Optical digital-in port) selected in system preferences/sound. But in Garageband preferences, optical or digital input is not among my choices. If I select system setting or built-in audio 2, I get no signal. If I select MOTU 828, it defaults to the analog master outputs on the 828.
I am a Logic 8 user, and I'm able to select the optical input in Logic with no problem. I have my MOTU audio setup set so that the optical output is the default output, but Garageband still seems to use the analog output. I can tell by the record level, which is considerably louder for analog than for optical.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

  • Optical Input Problem

I checked system preferences, and it looks like it is recognizing the input as "Optical digital-in port." When I unplug the mini-toslink cable, it goes away. I am also getting the red light, so I am getting information through the cable. When I plug the cable into my receiver, I can get audio through my stereo. So the audio source is working.
However, I cannot get the optical input to work on my Macbook Pro. Can't get digital audio through Garageband OR Audio Hijack Pro. Am I missing something here? Keep in mind I am new to the Mac, so please feel free to make fun of a newbie like me.

I am also going to try the optical out to see if my receiver can receive info from my Macbook Pro...

  • 8 Channel Mixer That Accepts Optical Inputs

    Greetings-
I am looking for an affordable 8-12 channel audio mixer that accepts at least 2 optical inputs.
Are any of you knowledgeable users aware of such a device?
    Thanks-
    -DaddyPaycheck

The device appears to be discontinued in the US, but it seems readily available (and discounted) in the UK. I've no doubt you could get one in the US. BTW, it's ZERO ONE X, not OH ONE X.
Here are details of it: http://www.yamaha.com/yamahavgn/CDA/ContentDetail/ModelSeriesDetail/0,,CNTID%252 53D21410%252526CTID%25253D228600%252526CNTYP%25253DPRODUCT,00.html
If it's discontinued, it seems likely that Yamaha will be bringing out a replacement that might be more suitable for your purposes.

  • How do I get signal from Digital Optical input (Extigy) to the Creative PlayCent

How can I rip MP3's from the Digital Optical input on the Extigy? The PlayCenter does not seem to have any interest in the Extigy/USB as an input source. Thank you for your help!!?

Since you are talking about variables, I suppose that you are using CP4, right?
There is a fine tutorial in de CP4-help, chapter 'Variables and advanced actions', 'Tutorial on scripting' which explains more elaborately what I will try here:
Create a user variable, p.e. named 'vName'  (Project, Actions, sheet Variables)
Ask the user to enter his name in a Text Entry Box; in the properties of this TEB, sheet Advanced you indicate that this name should be put in your variable 'vName'
Wherever you want to show this name, create a Text Caption and insert your variable by the button 'Insert variable'; this button is present in the properties window and also in the formatting toolbar if you are editing in place (look for X and and arrow); the variable in the text caption will show as '$$vName$$' and in the published SWF you will see the username.
Hope this could help you, but please check the tutorial.

  • 5.1 recording via optical input?

I understand that the Mini has both optical inputs and outputs for sound, facilitating a 5.1 bitstream surround sound -- at least for the output. With the proper software, can't it also play-through and record a 5.1 bitstream through the input?
I'm mostly interested in recording the 5.1 audio output from my Xbox 360 and PS3.

I too would be very interested in recording 5.1 gameplay from xbox360.
I've tried connecting the optical from my digital TV, and hear loud "digital noise" which I assume is the AC3 bitstream before being decoded.
Anyone know of a way to decode this?

  • HT2646 Is it possible to plug apple tv into my stereo sound system which does not have digital optical input

I have recently bought Apple tv. It works fine but I would like to run it through my sound system which is an older stereo system and does not have an optical digital input. Is there any other way of running apple tv through these older sound systems which do not have an optical input?

The easiest way is to connect your television's analog audio output to your stereo; since the television is now doing the digital-to-analog audio conversion, audio/video synchronization is preserved. Note that you may have to enable the analog audio output somewhere in your televsion's setup menus; this varies by TV model.

  • Optical input issues

I am using the optical input and the HiFi is sputtering like in another thread. It was suspected that the output was in the wrong sampeling format. Im trying to hook up to my set top box (STB) through optical and have the same sputtering. I can not find a way to change the output format. Does anyone know of a audio adapter that will convert the format or anyother ways to get around this so that I can use HiFi with the STB? Thanks

Audio input will not automatically go to any output. You need an application to do it. Most audio editing software will do it, or you can use LineIn

  • No audio from Optical Input

Hi there. I've recently bought a new TV which I use as my monitor but I also want to play the TV sound through my Mac (when i'm watching a tv programme, i want it to play through my mac). I've plugged the Optical cable into the line in and nothing is happening. I've checked all the settings and they all seem ok. I'm confused.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks, Sam.

    dear sam...
I think you're a little confused. Optical input would mean a dvd player/cd player
giving you an optical signal out. I haven't heard of any tv's that would do that, but I might be wrong. best bet would be to use a twin rca--> 3.5 mm jack cable
as the audio coming from your tv probably is analog
    Hope this helps
