No option for 1080p youtube

Hi, i have always had the option to play youtube videos in 1080 or higher until today.
for some reason when i try to play a video that IS 1080p, i don't even get the option to change to anything higher then 720p.
i also tried this with Explorer and it's fine.
I've tried looking on the net for answers and i can't fix this problem.
can you please help me because i would rather use Firefox instead of Internet Explorer...but if i have to i will.

You can try to delete the YouTube cookies.
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
You need a Firefox version that has MSE (Media Source Extensions) enabled to get this offered.

  • 1080p Youtube Streaming Videos

I do not live close to an Apple store and the Mac store in my town only had an 11" floor model.
I know that the 1.4GHz 11" will not play youtube 1080p videos smoothly.
Does anyone know if the 1.6GHz 11" or the 1.86GHz 13" or the 2.1GHz 13" can play 1080p youtube videos. The video I have been trying to play is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9vAOzYz-Qs&fmt=37
I want to buy a macbook air but I want it to play 1080p youtube videos. I hope one of them can.

Looks pretty darn good on my 11.6"1.4 2GB system. I have the 128 GB storage option. I tested it on Safari and Chrome on OSX, and IE, Safari and Chrome on Windows 7. A few points I would make though:
    1. Looks best output to a 1080P display via HDMI (no scaling impact)
    2. I am running Flash v10.1 r85
    3. I have found videos that show an ever so slight frame drop(very watchable), notably the nVidia Pure Video 1080p Test.
For as often as I intend to use the system this way, I can live with it.

  • Buying Advice Needed!  What set-up for 1080P?

Hi. I need some insight from you actual users out there. I am about to upgrade from my nearly 3-year old iMac (which was top of the line at the time). The vast majority of my usage will be for general computing work. I generally keep a lot of applications open so I can easily flip between things I need. So I want to make sure I don't get bogged down on a day-to-day basis at a minimum.
More importantly, though, the key heavy-duty function I want to tackle is editing 1080P video I import from my Canon 5D Mark II. I will mostly use FCE. I also do a fair amount of very high res photo management, although not a ton in Photoshop (use Aperture more).
Initially I had intended to get the top of the line iMac and upgrade to the ATI 4850 card. Then I decided maybe I should take the plunge and go for the Mac Pro to (1) be best prepared to take advantage of Snow Leopard's multi-core capabilities and (2) to be a little more future proof.
Here was the initial setup I thought about:
    - Mac Pro 8-core 2.26 (go for octo vs. quad at 2.66 to best take advantage of Snow Leopard's upcoming GCD) and because price sort of washes out if you want to go > 8GB of RAM
    - EVGA 850 video card (seems to have much more room for growth, given additional RAM, threads, etc.)
    - ACD 30" -- for the real estate and in large part because the 24" Apple LED display will not work with the EVGA card
Key questions for all of you:
    1. Is the Mac Pro just way overkill? Again, I will be doing occasional 1080P editing and I worry that even the 8450 top of line iMac might struggle
    2. Will the EVGA card be much better for me than the ATI 4870?
    3. Views on the 30" ACD? I struggle with the idea that this is a 5-year old model, but love the real estate and the tighter dot pitch. But I also am not sure that the matte effect doesn't feel like it blurs text a bit
    4. Should I be wary that I find myself in the middle of a refresh cycle? e.g., should I hold off for a bit because we shouldn't be far from an update and/or price cut?
Thank you all for any input you may have!

Mac pro always. Unless you're only using it for browsing and office apps; anything graphics or video related, go for mac pro. Rather than more power cpu wise, the expansion ability always wins for me.
A lot of people talk about MP being overkill for certain things, well personally the fact that it's overkill makes me feel good. If you're presently overkilling something, it means you're getting the fastest possible speed for what you're doing. Also overkill now, will be standard in like 2 years.
Multi cores, alot of ram, and scratch disks will all help you do video and photography more faster and easier. Also having multiple hard drives gives options like consolidation of apps and user/data; giving a nice clean boot drive. Not to mention ability to install SSDs, which are very in now.
The 30" ACD is pure sickness. I want to buy one everytime I go into the apple store. Also matte display is way better than glossy, for everything. Just my opinion though.
On the issue of 285 vs. 4870, for you, either is ok imo. Do you game a lot in windows? You might though want to check the benchmarks from barefeats when they come out on the 285 with core apps.
    http://www.barefeats.com/index.html
If the benchmarks for core apps is good enough for you on the 285, stick with the stock GT 120, and buy the 285. That way you also have the MDP option for newer apple displays in the future. The nvidia cards together will play better with one another.
For the refresh cycle, its up to you really...if you need it soon or not. However 6-core nehalems are coming. Not around the corner...but will be here.

  • Apple TV good option for renting movies?

I'm thinking of getting the Apple TV and one of the things I'd be looking to do on it would be to rent movies.  Is it a good option for renting movies?  If so, is there a huge selection of rentals?  Any help or advice would be appreciated.  Thanks.

There is plenty to choose from with New Releases and a decent back catalogue. It all depends on what you're looking for. Time it takes to load depends on your network (2.5mbps for SD, 6mbps for instant 720P, 8mbps for 1080P). It will be 'ready to play' once enough has loaded in order to play without interuption.

  • No options for advanced tools in iMovie 10.0.3

When i go into preferences to turn on the advanced tools in imovie, i only get a slow motion, and a option for icloud loading. Any
idea whats wrong? i have looked online for answers, but have found nothing. Does this version not have the the option for Green
    screen, side by side, etc.?

The "advanced setting" option no longer exists in iMovie 10.0.0.  Everything is already either in a tab or layed out in front of you.
In order to access most of your editing functions such as green screen and side by side, you may find them under the option located close to the top right hand corner of iMovie called "Adjust" which will put down a drop down menu of edits that my be done.

  • Best Export/Encode for 1080p HDTV Display?

I'm looking for today's best practice for encoding an animation that will be looping on a 1080p HDTV panel at an event.
Which codec & container, bitrate etc. is the best for quality, yet reasonable file size? I want it to be as sharp as possible, but would like to keep the file under 1gb if possible.
My animation is 1080p 25fps, lots of imagery and some text, approx 1.5 minutes.
    Thanks!

What device will be playing the file? Many TVs now have a USB port that will enable media playback from a thumb drive, or you could use a Western Digital WDTV device or similar media player.
There is no one-size-fits-all suggestion for the "best" results, however I would start with the H.264 format and then choose a preset to match your needs (1080p25). There are presets for AppleTV, YouTube, Vimeo, or just choose "HDTV 1080p25". The resulting file will have the .mp4 extension which is pretty universally accepted these days.

I HAVE IPOD VERSION 4.2.1 can i upgrade as there is no option for software upgrade?

    my iod no is a1367
so is it 2nd gen or 3rd gen?
    Identifying iPod models
    iPod touch (3rd generation)
iPod touch (3rd generation) features a 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen multi-touch display and 32 GB or 64 GB flash drive. You can browse the web with Safari and watch YouTube videos with Wi-Fi. You can also search, preview, and buy songs from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on iPod touch.
The iPod touch (3rd generation) can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318.

  • Is there an option for 480p ?

I notice on Apple's HD gallery that the choices are 480p, 720p and 1080p. I am creating my movies in 720p with Apple intermediate codec in FCE HD but exporting to 960 x 540 and 640 x 360 resolutions with H 264 codec in Compressor. These movies are for computer and web viewing only. Where do I find the option for 480p in Compressor?

On Apple's Quicktime site, halfway down on the left is the HD Gallery catagory. All of the movies are in three resolutions, 480p, 720p and 1080p. Most all of the 480p movies have a resolution of 852 x 480, a few are 960 x 540 which is the resolution I have been using in Compressor. Am I right is assuming 480p will result in smaller file sizes? Also, I was curious about why it is 852 rather than 960. My work in FCE HD and Motion is all graphic content imported from Illustrator and Photoshop, no video, so perhaps this has something to do with the camera resolution?

  • Upgrade options for my new old Power Mac G4?

So I just got a free Power Mac G4 MDD. It has dual G4 1.25 GHz cpus, 2 GB RAM, 4x80 GB Seagate Cheetah SCSI hard drives in RAID 0, Airport wireless, 2 Super drives, and a Geforce4 Ti 4600 GPU. It has a fresh install of Tiger, and I am wondering what upgrades are available for it; it feels smooth most of the time, but high res videos on youtube are pretty much unwatchable. I have done some research of my own, and I found a few pci-x cards that look useful, like for SATA ports, Firewire 800, usb 2.0, etc. I have also read about cpu upgrades up to 1.8 Ghz, and that it is possible to flash a pc graphics card to work on a mac, but all of the examples I've seen are with PCI Express graphics cards. Should I get the Sata card and use faster hard drives? Is there, in your experience, a good graphics card upgrade for my PowerMac? Is there a CPU upgrade faster the 1.42 GHz that I can get, and where? And what about overclocking my cpu? I got this for free, and I am willing to pay a few hundred dollars to upgrade it. I know its pretty old, but fixing up and upgrading old computers to there best is a hobby of mine.

Should I get the Sata card and use faster hard drives?
PCI or PCI-X controllers provide for good perfomance with SATA drives.
The Firmtek Seritek cards have excellent compatibility, are bootable to connected drives, and will help provide performance beyond that possible with ATA drives on the native bus.
BTW, PCI-X cards are backwards compatible to PCI.
Is there, in your experience, a good graphics card upgrade for my PowerMac?
The three best options for a MDD are a flashed Radeon 9800 XT, Radeon X800XT (flashed FireGL X3) or flashed Geforce 7800 GS.
If one upgrades to Leopard, the FireGL/X800 is best.
In Tiger, the 7800 GS is best.
Is there a CPU upgrade faster the 1.42 GHz that I can get, and where?
Sonnet used to make one (MDX Duet), but you'll be hard pressed to find one on eBay or such.
IMHO, overclocking the 1.42 GHz processor to 1.58 GHz provides for a much more powerful machine.
Heck, even at 1.42 GHz, the 7445 processor and 2 MB L3 cache are stronger, overall, than the 7447 processor used in the MDX Duet.
And what about overclocking my cpu?
    http://bitsandpieces.info/Multipliers.htm
OC'ing the MDD adds to heat issues.
There are some great mods like this one:

  • Will Blu-ray be an option for Ideapad U series?

Considering an Ideapad U series, but want to have the option to go Blu-ray either now or relatively soon.  Does anyone know if the graphics will support it and if this will be an option?
    Thank you.
p.s.  I did ask the chat support on the Lenovo site the same question and they could not answer it.

    Can't really get you.
You ask for Blu-ray (which definately will be an option for models that have DVD-ROMs inside) but then you mean graphics? What are you exactly asking about? If you're asking if videocards are powerfull enough to handle 1080p H264, answer is positive - all new videocards have decoding options for that. Be sure - every model ending *30 (for example, U330) will handle HD-video without a whistle.
I'm not a native speaker and for that can take something wrong.

  • Video Issues for Native YouTube app and all Web pages

    Hello,
I seem to have a problem with my Sprint Palm Pre. All of a sudden Im getting an error of 'there was an error playing the file' for ALL Youtube file using the Palm Pre Youtube app. As well as all of the we sites that were working a few weeks ago.
    Any ideas?
    thanks,

Have you tried a restart from device info, reset options? This will resolve many problems and is the first thing I would try. I have not heard of any problems with the YouTube app. I have tested the YouTube app on my own Pre Plus an it is working without any issues. Have you installed any 3rd party (homebrew) apps? Some times this can cause a problem with installed apps.

There is no FaceTime app for the iPhone if that's what you're asking.  FaceTime is accessible through your Contacts as one of the options in how to contact a person -- there is no standalone FaceTime app for iPhone.
If you mean how to disable FaceTime, you can do that in Restrictions (Settings/General/Restrictions).

  • Needing a multi-month and year-in-view option for ical!

    Hello all!
I could really use a multi-month and year-in-view format in ical... I've seen some dated posts - is anyone aware of any new developments/options for this?
    thanks and peace-
    DW

I turn off all calendars but the birthdays. Select [Print]. Choose all the months you want to see. Deselect all calendars but birthdays. Click [Continue]. On the next menu, go to "Layout", select how many pages to print on the paper. I usually print a border around each calendar then you're good to go!
By only printing the birthdays calenar, you won't get too many appointments to get in the way of brain storming and future planning, yet the computer still thinks its printing a useful calendar.

  • BODS : Datastore options for SAP R/3 - need clarity for use

    Hi All.
Another request to understand the datastore optiono n BOXI 3.1 BODS existing installation.
We are trying to pull a new table from SAP R/3 into BODS and we find that ABAP program is not getting generated as expected. And terminates. When we tested a simple workflow.
While creating a new datastore for SAP R/3 Source :
    When we look at the datastore we find the following options for R3 Source ;
    ABAP Execution option :
    Execute preloaded
    Generate and execute
    Under data transfer method we find ;
    Shared directory
    Direct download
    FTP
    Custom transfer
Then we have working directory on sap server
    local directory
    generated ABAP Directory
Am testing a simple workflow of pulling data from SAP R/3 in a dev machine.
    But am not understanding.
which option of ABAP Execution, and data transfer , path would work in co-ordination.
Because when i say direct download and say generate and execute it throws error.
Can anyone help me with combinations of the options to choose for a R/3 source. And the implications thereof.
I had created a folder under local bods server D:\Bodi. And given the path for data transfer.
But the files are not getting generated for whatsoever reasons.
Any advise on this would be helpful.
Also found a bit unusual, that there was no button to test the connection to be correct or not, a TEST connection button is not there. Which i felt, could be included.
Note : on the existing production system, we have chosen execute preloaded; shared directory on sap server. and shared that folder path for the user and given full rights. But while we try to do the same on the dev machine a test before transporting on production, a simple workflow does not work.
would like to know what settings on sap server, really affect the data store options on the BODS
    thanks

Indeed, BODS <> SAP connectivity can be tricky.
For a development environment, I suggest you select the option "Generate and execute" for your "ABAP Execution Option." What this means is that DS will create, on the fly, small-ish ABAP programs. These ABAP programs will be written, in plain text, to a local directory on the DS job server, in the folder specified in "Generated ABAP Directory".  You can see them in there after an attempted job execution, assuming the job involves the creation of an ABAP program.  The ABAP program name is specified in the properties of an ABAP data flow, under Options > ABAP Program Name.  If you can't, perhaps the DS job server process doesn't have full rights to that folder - ?  After being generated on-the-fly, they'll be transferred to SAP to execute.  The SAP user you use to connect to SAP must have sufficient rights to upload-and-execute these ABAP programs, and that's a fairly substantial set of rights. What's required is documented in the BODS supplement for SAP. Often, to get things running, your friendly local Basis admin will grant SAP_ALL to the DS user, to see what rights are being invoked.
Once all that jazz is working, you need to get the data back. There are a number of ways to do this. The method of data transfer is specified in "Data transfer method," where, ignoring "Custom transfer," you have three choices:
    1) Direct Download: easiest and slowest.  This method tells SAP to attempt to stick data in the client-side folder specified in "Local directory." Try this first.
    2) Shared folder: This is recommended when you have SAP being hosted on a Windows box. Basically: you set "Working directory on SAP Server" and "Data Services path to the shared directory" to point to the same folder.  SAP uses the "Working directory on SAP Server" to find this folder, and DS uses the other setting. So, for instance, if you were going to use the Shared folder method, you could set "Working directory on SAP Server" to "E:\BODS_Transfer", and, assuming E:\BODS_Transfer was shared-out as "BODS_Transfer", you could set "Data Services path to the shared directory" to
dev12.somecompany.com\BODS_Transfer .  Then, you'd need to setup all the relevant security, as both SAP and DS need rights to read and write files in this folder.
    3) FTP (this is the method I usually use): SAP writes the "transport files" you're after (i.e., the data) in the folder specified in "Working directory on SAP Server". Then, you need to establish ftp connectivity to that folder from the DS job server's perspective, which you do by entering the ftp host name and the path to that folder in "FTP host name" and "FTP relative path to the SAP working directory".  In my opinion, the "relative" business is a little confusing, and I just typically enter the full ftp path, beginning the path w/ a forward slash, like "/usr/sap/tmp/BOBJ" or something like that.  You also need to obtain a separate username and password for the ftp connectivity. Note that this name and password has NOTHING to do with the SAP username and password; you're just setting-up DS to act as an ftp client. I strongly encourage you to test ftp connectivity by using a regular ftp client from the DS job server and attempt to connect to your ftp host using the username and password you were given, and attempting to fetch some sample test file. If you can't do this, manually, then DS won't be able to do it, either.
    Best wishes,
    Jeff Prenevost
