No option for IPS x220's in india

My uncle in India wants to buy an x220 because the websites are flooded with news of it's ips panel screen and yet when you try to buy one, there are no models with IPS panels in india. The IPS panel was the main reason why I recommended the x220. Whats going on?

Hi Lunkisr
Welcome to Apple Discussions
Open the Sound Preference and select Output, when plugging in your headphones you should see the change to Built-in Output. There are two jacks, the one next to the USB port is for input and the one closest to the side of the iMac is for headphone output.

  • Cisco asa 5585 syslog options for ips?

We have CISCO ASA 5585 with a separate module for IPS, I want to know what are the options for configuring syslog? Its nearly impossible to find ; and there are some forums on the internet which says that cisco ips stores logs in native / proprietary format and cannot be exported.
    Please elaborate
    Thanks.

Some sensor-related events generate syslog messages. Those will be forwarded according to the parent ASA syslog settings.
Detailed IPS events (signature triggers actions etc.) are stored locally and must be retrieved using the SDEE protocol (tcp-based). That requires use of a management system like Cisco Security Manager (CSM), IPS Manager Express (IME) etc. There is a good document here that explains SDEE in more detail.

  • Resolution options for Pavilion IPS 23bw monitor

Will this monitor only operation in 1920 x 1080? Apparently my video card (Radeon 4350) does not support this resolution.
I did install new card drivers, but still no option for this. Is there any way to use in another resolution, or do I need to upgrade video card?

    Here are the specs for your HP Pavilion 23bw 23-inch IPS LED Monitor and here is the User Guide for this model. Based on this information, this model supports a recommended and maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz. According to the user guide, this model should also support the use of the following resolutions;
    640 x 480 @ 59.94
    720 x 400 @ 70.087
    800 × 600 @ 60.317
    1024 × 768 @ 60
    1280 × 720 @ 60
    1280 × 1024 @ 60.02
    1440 × 900 @ 59.887
    1600 × 900 @ 60
    1680 × 1050 @ 59.954
    1920 × 1080 @ 60
You may also need to install the HP Pavilion 23bw IPS LED Backlit Monitor Driver to achieve full compatibility and it is possible that the AMD/ATI Radeon HD 4350 won't fully support this monitor.

If you can, you want MATCHED, TRIPPLE CHANNEL, ECC registered ram with the same timings as the original ram.  I found that 1333mhz ram of that type is a bit easier to find these days (any faster ram will work in the your macpro).  Anyhoo, I found 12 GB of ram 3x4gb (oh yeah, and tripple channel ram likes to be installed in three's so if you can stick with only 3 chips of ram unless you are making it out or something.) for like $150.  If you keep your eyes pealed you can get a great deal.

  • Windows 7 upgrade: discs will include the option for a 32 to 64-bit upgrade via a clean install?

I would like to know whether the Lenovo Windows 7 upgrade discs will include the option for a 32 to 64-bit upgrade via a clean install?  I called Mentor today and was told the answer is no, but I was hoping someone here could tell me differently.
If "no" is truly the answer, I would like to voice my complaint: The upgrade discs from Microsoft (i.e. the retail upgrade discs) include both the 32 and 64-bit versions, so I don't completely understand why Lenovo's upgrade program doesn't offer the same thing.  I purchased my T500 in August, and back then Vista Ultimate 64 was not offered, so I chose Vista Ultimate 32 thinking that I could later upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate 64.  This assumption was based off of the info. on Microsoft's website indicating that all upgrades would contain the 32 and 64-bit versions.  I even customized my computer with 4 gigs of RAM thinking that I could take advantage of the extra gig once I installed Windows 7 64.
I don't understand what Lenovo or Mentor Media have to gain by restricting a 32 to 64-bit install.  I voiced this opinion to Mentor Media over the phone, who responded by saying that I should be happy since I am receiving a "free" upgrade.  I don't think this is an accurate assessment for two reasons: (1) I had to pay $17.03 for shipping, and I still haven't received the upgrade and (2) The total cost of my computer was almost $3,000, and the purchase was made a mere few weeks before Windows 7 was released.  $3,000 is a lot of money.  I waited for the details of the Windows 7 Upgrade Program to be announced BEFORE purchasing my machine.  When I finally bought my computer I accounted Windows 7 into the price I was paying.  In addition, when I bought this computer I did so expecting good customer service as a given.  Not providing a 64-bit upgrade without a rational explanation as to why does not qualify as appropriate customer service.
As most of you know, 4 gigs of RAM is useless with a 32-bit OS.  Also, NOW Lenovo is building new T500s with the option of having Windows 7 Ultimate 64 (why wasn't Vista Ultimate 64 offered when I bought my computer???).  And the price for choosing Windows 7 Ultimate 32 is EQUAL to the price for choosing Windows 7 Ultimate 64, which proves that there is no cost difference.  I just want to know what Lenovo has to gain by denying customers a 64-bit upgrade?  There would really be no additional cost since as I mentioned before, Microsoft's retail upgrade includes the 32 and 64-bit OS on one disc.  If anything I would think that it's costing Lenovo money to strip the 64-bit install from the upgrade discs.
Can anyone please address my problems?  Do you think there is anyone at Lenovo I could contact to voice my opinions?  I have been a loyal Thinkpad customer for over 5 years now, and I expect better from Lenovo.  Thank you for reading!

Is there any way to request a 64-bit OEM?  Why should Lenovo care whether I want a 32-bit or 64-bit as long as it's the same edition (Ultimate edition)?
if your system shipped with a 32-bit version of vista then you will be sent 32-bit windows 7 upgrade media.   the reason for this is two-fold.
first, because this is upgrade media, it's impossible to install a 64-bit version of windows over a 32-bit version.   doing so would require a clean installation and upgrade media simply won't allow this.   this is the case with retail media, too.   if you had 32-bit vista installed and wanted to upgrade it to 64-bit using retail media, you'd have to wipe your system or set up a dual-boot.
second, the COA (certificate of authenticity) on the bottom of your system is for vista.   because of this, your new license is of an upgrade from vista to 7.   this is how microsoft licenses it and it is their policy, not lenovo's.   microsoft's policy with OEMs is that you must install vista first, then upgrade to 7 (unless, of course, you purchased your system native with 7 on or after the 22nd).   since your original lenovo preload is of a 32-bit OS, the issue becomes circular and you'll have to refer again to the first reason.
i understand your frustration and wish this stuff were made easier for everyone.   it's repetative reading post after post of people with 4GB installed who don't understand the limitations of a 32-bit environment.   i wish both manufacturers and users switched to 64-bit OSes sooner.   the same thing happened when the industry went from 16-bit windows 3.11 to 32-bit windows NT4/95 and limitations went from 16KB all the way up to 4GB (which, in 1995, no one thought we'd ever exceed).   the difference is that people were complaining on BBSes over 14.4k modems instead of on GUI-based forums using broadband connections.   times sure have changed.

  • Which SSD is right for the X220?

I'm planning on buying an OCZ SSD for my X220, but I'm not too familiar with the technical aspects of the SSD's. For example, I looked over their website and found things like SATA III, USB 3.0, mSATA, Max IOPS, and etc. I have no idea what most of these terms mean and am not even sure if these work for my laptop, so can someone give me a quick explanation for this and show me a SSD model thats good to use on the X220? I'm mainly looking for something with 120 GB.
EDIT: I just read up somewhere that OCZ has reliability issues? Blue screen of death occurs often; is this true?

    Hi,
OCZ from what I have read is not be best for reliability. They are the best for speed.
Reliability it's more Intel that have that reputation, but they was hit by a firmware bug that was causing 8mo issue. They have released a patch since then. But some people report that they still experience that issue on their forum... So who knows if it's fixed...
Crucial do the M4 series, they was know to have lag issue (like the computer hang for 30 secondes every 30 minutes) but they have fixed that issue in the firmware.
SATA I, II, III it's the speed of the port. Your thinkpad X220 support up to Sata III. So that mean that you can use a SATA II SSD and it will works (it will be slower then a SATA III drive). But on the day to day usage, you won't see any difference in speed between a SATA II and a SATA III drive.
mSATA it's an SSD with a different form factor, it's really small. You can add one like this in your X220. You have to install it under the keyboard (so it's a bit less user friendly to install). It's also slower then a regular SATA II or SATA III SSD. But it allow you to have it as a second drive in your X220.
USB3.0 have nothing to do with the SSD, it's simply the new gen of USB port that are faster then USB 2.0.
Max IOPS it's a unit to calculate the speed of the SSD. Don't bother much with that, any SSD will be fast enough to make you X220 boot under 20 secondes.
Personnally I went with an Intel 160gb SSD mostly because that Intel do the most reliable SSD. Reliability for me was more important then speed. But my "slow" Sata II Intel SSD score at 7,6 ... So it's really fast...

  • Clustering options for FirePOWER SSP-40

What are the option for clustering Firepower SSP-40?
ASA 5585X with 2 node cluster, is it possible to have a single cluster for IPS service also ?
Concers are , how is the IPS module handling the Asymmetric situation...?
Cisco ASA 5585-X with FirePOWER SSP-40..

What Cisco was missing imo was the NG Firewall features that everyone has had for years.  I recently upgraded my 5585 SSP60 based firewalls with the SSP-SFR60 modules.  So far I'm fairly impressed, the package does what everyone else does, currently still testing a number of items however what I could do with a Palo or something from SonicWall I can now do with my ASAs.
First Accessible from Same GUI: Not on the 5585s, if I open ASDM for the 5585s, there are no configurations that I can see available, essentially under my admin context I see three tabs, one of which is ASA Firepower Status, there is a link I can click on and it takes me to DC URL.  I do hear you can configure for the smaller firewalls though.  Possibly because I use MC and A/A I might be missing it. Honestly though DC seems to be a very powerful tool so I'm fine with two management systems as they both serve a different purpose, ASA controls ports allowed to pass, and the traffic that passes gets filtered.
Logging and Events: DC has an immense amount of information, urls being visited, ips, responding countries, pretty much everything is here.
Am I satisfied?  Yes, items that bothered me was built in URL filtering, file analysis, Geo Location Filtering and numerous other bells and whistles that I noticed $1000 sonicwalls had, the CX platform never caught my eye for some reason, and I'm glad I never bit the bullet, EOL10154, so if I implemented CX I'd be in a situation where I would need to replace it.  Sourcefire was a fairly successful company that Cisco bought, and I don't see cisco throwing away 2.7 Billion Dollars so I can see this being around for awhile.
I'm still exploring but so far what everyone else has had for years, I finally have with my ASA and I'm happy.  It does work, and it works well.

  • Syslog support for IPS SSM 10

    Hi,
I am new to IPS SSM 10. i've few questions:
1.Do we have any kind of syslogs logs for IPS SSM 10? basically i want to know what kind of attacks, intrusion & DoS has happened.
2.Can we update the Signature automatically thru Cisco site?

The AIP-SSM does not support syslog as an alert format.
The default method to receive alert information from the AIP-SSM is through Security Device Event Exchange (SDEE). Another option is to configure individual signatures in order to generate a SNMP trap as an action to take when they are triggered.

If you mean how to disable FaceTime, you can do that in Restrictions (Settings/General/Restrictions).

I turn off all calendars but the birthdays. Select [Print]. Choose all the months you want to see. Deselect all calendars but birthdays. Click [Continue]. On the next menu, go to "Layout", select how many pages to print on the paper. I usually print a border around each calendar then you're good to go!
By only printing the birthdays calenar, you won't get too many appointments to get in the way of brain storming and future planning, yet the computer still thinks its printing a useful calendar.
