I've asked him to trash the preferences but still no hope.

  • Video preview through second monitor

I'm running PPro CS5 on a mid 2010 Mac Pro with an ATI Radeon HD 5770 graphics card.  The card can feed up to 3 monitors - of which I have two connected right now.  In Encore I can choose to preview from either monitor, but in PPro I seem to get only two options - 'None' and 'DV'. In CS3 (on a PC) I used to be to enable this with the Desktop setting.
How please do I set things up to find my second monitor?  I have updated my Mac's software (which should pick up the latest approved graphics drivers), so I don't think it's an ATI problem.
    Thanks very much
    Julian

Here you go Jim.  A little cramped for me having the main Premiere interface on one screen, but it will do for now.  If I can get the third screen running, I wn't really need my MX02 Mini - which doesn't yet work properly on the Mac anyway...
Good luck with making your system work this way.  Let me know if I can help further.

  • How do I get firefox 4 on Windows 7 to 'remember' to open on monitor 2? It keeps opening on the main monitor, only.

When you open a program in a multi-monitor set-up and transfer the program to the second monitor and close it, when it next opens it should open on the second monitor. Firefox 3.x performed this way. Firefox 4 does not -- it only opens on the main monitors, always.
Please build this into the product or provide an option for it?
    Thanks,

Update: I forgot something about the way BootCamp installs Windows...
I had temporarily turned off BlueTooth on OS X because I didn't need it, and when you do that, it effectively removes it from the system's list of devices.
So I just wiped the Windows partition, turned BT back on in OS X, and re-installed Windows. Just to make sure, I went through and manually installed all the drivers by hand and then let the BootCamp utility install them as well, and it's been working like a charm!

  • Always opens in main monitor

Everytime I launch Firefox, it opens in the main monitor. Before updating to the latest version V.12, it was opening in the secondary monitor of my system.
I've tried to reduce and drag the windows and put it into the secondary monitor and rebooting and it always comes back to the main monitor.

I too have the same problem on OS 10.6.8. I downloaded Firefox 11.0 and that version opened correctly on the secondary monitor the very first time. It's interesting that it was able to recognize which screen to start on without even going through the steps to open, close and reopen on the desired monitor. Evidently, version 12 made the internal setting but chose to ignore it.
It sure would be nice to have an option in preferences something like:
    * Open new windows on the same monitor as last used
    * Always open new windows on primary monitor
    * Always open new windows on secondary monitor (if available)
    Update:
Drat! Did an update thinking it would take me to the highest version of FF 11 and it took me to 13. It also ignored which monitor windows should open on. Back to 11... [rolls eyes]

  • Unable to set external display as primary/main monitor on Macbook Boot Camp

I have an LG Flatron W1942TQ monitor hooked up to my Macbook right now. I am able to extend the desktop to this monitor and use it dual display style, but the Start menu remains on the Macbook display.
I want the monitor to be the primary monitor. So I go to check off "Set as Primary Monitor" in the control panel, but when I do that it suddenly reverts back to having the Macbook monitor as the only display, shutting off the LG Flatron.
Just wondering if there is a driver issue or something I am overlooking as to how to have my external display as the main monitor.

I think that works for Mac OS but in Boot Camp Windows XP OS does not have that option. I did try to drag the XP system bar at the bottom onto my external display but no luck. I am having the same issue as Jack Ryan and Philtones. I am a mild timpered guy and love my MBP but this agrivation just about has me ready to throw it.
I hooked it up at a LAN party & the display wouldn't come on at first. It finally just started working & I played several games in mirror mode. Then, I decided to correct the resolution and couldn't get mirroring back on no matter what I tryed. I also can't switch primary monitor.
Please, someone, has anyone found the solution?
Windows is a very bad 7-letter word.

  • How do I keep the dock on my main monitor?

Hi, I'm running OS X 10.9 on my MacBook Pro which is connected to a larger Multisync LCD monitor 90% of the time. I like to have the monitors set up so the larger one is the main one that has the menu bar and dock. When I upgraded to Maveric I cannot figure out how to keep the dock on the main monitor. Sometimes when I'm working it will disapear from the main monitor and show up on the laptop monitor. If I reboot the doc goes back to the larger main monitor but I cannot figure out how to do this while I'm working. Rebooting is not an effective option.

In System Preferences > Mission Control > UNcheck "Displays have seperate spaces". Your second monitor will now function the way it did in 10.8.

  • Using Preview with 2 monitors...

I didn't know where to post this so I'm going to first try here in OS X Tiger forum so here goes...
I just installed a 2nd video card so as to be able to connect my t.v. as 2nd monitor. Pretty much everything is fine with one exception...
When I launch Preview (latest version), my picture window shows up on the 2nd monitor but I wish for it to launch the window on my computer monitor instead. I've got my main start up and dock on the computer monitor as well. I just don't see any preference anywhere that tells me to change this otherwise. However, if I use the old Preview software which I think is back in version 1, the picture window will launch on my computer monitor just fine. Anybody got any suggestions? TIA

I have two monitor as well, a Cinema display and a 17" Sony. Preview opens largish things just fine and on the main monitor. But smaller things open so about 1/3 of the window is on the Sony. Earlier versions of Preview work just fine. Not sure what Apple did, but let us hope they fix it. Send feedback:

If they get enough feedback it is more likely to be fixed.

  • How do I get more color highlighting options in preview, how do I get more color highlighting options in preview

The new version of Preview on Mountain Lion has limited the colors available when using the annotate tool (highlighter), how can I access more options?

Preview used to allow the user to select highlight colors from the color picker. This is no longer the case.
I have requested that Apple add it back at http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html.

  • How can I add email (via outlook client) to share options of preview app

how can I add email (via outlook client) to share options of preview app

You can't.  Apple's share button only supports Apple Mail (as specified by launching Apple Mail, choosing preferences and choosing general.).  Maybe Apple will open this up to other apps in future updates.

  • In Dual Monitor setup, with Thunderbird not in main monitor, the some dialogs always shows in other monitor

I have a three monitor set up. I have Thunderbird running in the right monitor. My main monitor is the middle one. Dialogs, such as Spell check, Activity Monitor always show up in the main window (not the one with Thunderbird) in the upper left hand corner.
It happens on Windows Vista and Windows 7 Professional.
    I have Thunderbird version 24.3.0

Some dialogs when moved, stay moved. Others do not. The ones that frustrate me are those that are Centered and therefore show up split across my two monitors.

  • Full screen preview with one monitor

    Hello,
I'm using Premiere Pro CS5 on a Mac with a single monitor. I would like to see the full screen preview on this monitor, hiding all GUI elements.
By reading around, I could only find the suggestion of selecting the Preview pane and press the ~ or ` key. Unfortunatly, it seems that this shortcut only triggers the Maximize or Return to the Original Size commands. GUI elements remain in the display.
Is there some preference to select somewhere?
    Thank you, Paolo

That's as close as you can get with Premiere; it doesn't do a single-monitor fullscreen the way FCP does.

  • Can I designate one monitor as the main monitor over the other?

I have a 24-inch IMac and a second monitor that I also run. However, when I try to play one of my older games, my IMac monitor does not have a low enough resolution setting. My second monitor does, but I cannot get the game to play on the second monitor.
Is there a way to designate my second monitor as the main monitor so as to use that lower resolution setting (the specific game that I am having a problem with is Starcraft... trying to play it in Windows XP...)????
Thanks for any suggestions you may offer...

Open the displays control panel. On the main display you'll get a dialog box which shows a graphic of your two displays showing their orientation to each other. One of the two will have a bar going across the top of it which represents the menu bar. Drag the menu bar to the other display and it will become the main display.

You would need to find a 3rd party dispay extender app to accomplish this. The results may or may not be acceptable to you.

  • Way to hide main monitor when mirroring?

I am curious if there is a way to mirror an iMac's display to a second monitor but hide the content from displaying on the main monitor.
I want to setup a second workstation using the second monitor (connected via displayport) but not have the content showing on the main monitor.
    Anyway to accomplish this?

Ok just to clarify how I am doing this.  I have an office with an iMac, right above (second floor) I have a room where I would have a wireless keyboard, mouse + monitor.  I want to be able to turn on that monitor, and start working.  It would be a huge pain to have to go downstairs to the iMac to move windows over to the second monitor and them go upstairs to work.

  • ES4. The option the preview PDF (F5) is greyed out.

I downloaded the trial for ES4 before purchasing it. I am using it with windows 8.1. The option the preview PDF (F5) is greyed out.

Do you have Adobe Acrobat installed? It is required for the preview capabilities.
