No option to set search provider after updating Lu...

Hi there, I have updated my Lumia to Win 7.8 and I have all new features but one is missing; option to set google as search provider in Internet explorer. I can't restore my phone to try install upate once again due to an error 801812E0. Any idea how to get Internet Explorer sorted?

For WP8, it should be available under IE, settings>Advance settings> Default search provider. Don't know you have the same options. Best to check with the guys who just updated their phone to 7.8. Meanwhile, for the error code 801812E0:
The reason for this error is that a previously installed software update is no longer compatible with your phone. In order to keep your phone working correctly, the restore function was disabled.

Setting Passcode - Freezing after update

Has anyone had any issues setting their passcode after update? Mine lets me put it in, but on the last digit it freezes and then after a minute, returns to the homescreen as if nothing happened?????? Help???? Not had any other issues other than settings not really wanting to come up and being a bit slow.

Yes, mine did exactly the same thing. iPhone 3GS 32GB updated to 4.0. Sometimes it freezes as soon as I enter the passcode setting screen, usually it lets me get through both screens before freezing on the last digit. Setting the autolock delay sometimes freezes on me, too. I have done a Restore to Factory Settings, and then reloaded my media. The only change that made was that I was a couple of hours older; the problem remained. I have reset the iPhone, and forced a shutdown and reboot. No difference at all. Very unhappy right now.

I can no longer paste into my google search bar after updating to mavericks

i just updated my mac to mavericks and now my google search bar does not work when content is being pasted into it. Anyone have some suggestions/quick fixes?

With Safari open press Command , (comma) to open Safari preferences then select the Privacy tab.
Click: Remove All Website Data
Now open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

Can't Set Up Voicemail after update

Alright, I had this exact same problem on my new iphone and it was very frustrating to me so I signed up just to tell you guys how to solve this problem. Ok now you have to go to www.wireless.att.com and sign into your "myWireless account" (if you do not currently have one you will need to create one). Once you login you will see a screen with alot of different choices look for the box that says "PHONE/DEVICE" and add apple iphone if it is not already selected then click on the box that says "PHONE/DEVICE" and it will take you into a sub menu in here you need to scroll down a little bit and click on the box that states "Reset Voicemail password" after this you will have them send you a text with the new password and once you get it the iphone visual voicemail system will reset itself and you will have to set it up again and when it asks for the password give it the password you just received from at&t and it will work perfectly from then on and will not ask for the password ever again! I hope this works for all of you as it did for me.

EMtest GPIB interface error after updating NI-488.2 driver

I am using GPIB interface and Vendor Software to control EMtest devices (Autowave & VDS). After updating the NI-488.2 from version 2.2.7 (ni488227.exe) to 3.1.2 (ni488_312) the EMTest software is no longer recognizing the NI PCIe-GPIB interface (?).
After re-installing back the old NI-488.2.2.7 everything is returned to normal. Is there any known solution to this type of errors?

There are no HW changes on my system (the only variable is the NI-488 driver version) and my software has no options to add or change the settings of an GPIB interface (except the GPIB addresses of my devices).
In NI-MAX I found no diferences, my PCI card is always defined as GPIB0. The problem is that somehow my software is set on GPIB1 after updating the NI-488 driver ... therefore is not able to find any GPIB card.
I was just wondering if anyone had similar problems while I am not able to find any satisfying configuration to my software (except using the old version of NI-488). And maybe there is a solution/configuration of the NI-driver.

Dead after update (Nokia X6)

Hello All!
Yesterday, I tried to update my X6 (16 gb) through Nokia Software Updater. I don't know what happened but my set is dead after update. I guess the update process failed somewhere. I do remember getting an error to connect the set again.
I tried to use Green+Red+Camera + Power on method but my set starts to continuouly vibrate while the screen is all blank.
Can someone please help me how to revive it back to life. Thanks,.

That image you posted is from the Windows version of Safari (note the close window button in the top right of the window).
The Windows version does allow you to toggle between Google and Yahoo. For whatever reason, Apple only offers Google on OS X.
Many third party developers offer tools that can change the default. Have a search on versiontracker.com / macupdate.com - just be aware that they may not be Snow Leopard compatible yet.

Windows 8.1 Update always sets Bing as Search Provider (IEAK doesn´t tell it to)

I´m building a Windows 8.1 (with Update 1)-Image for my Company and want to customize IE11. Everything works fine, beside two things:
1. In my IEAK-Package I add Google as search provider and set it to default. The IE-branding-package is applied during the building of the image. But when I log in the first time, IE comes up with Bing as default and Google as additional search provider.
First I thought this has anything to do with SCCM installing the branding pack as LocalSystem during the task sequence, but with some testing, I found out, that Win 8.1 Update 1 (KB2919355) was my Problem! If I install my branding package to Windows 8.1 (without
Update 1), Google is set as default search provider for accounts that already exist and for new accounts. When Update 1 is applied and my Branding pack runs after that, Google is set as default search provider for existing accounts only, but not for new accounts,
they get Bing! It doesn´t matter if I do that as LocalSystem within a task sequence or as local admin, with Update 1 - Bing, without - Google! I also tried to set the HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes\DefaultScope-value in the "Default
User" and imported the {xxxx...xxxxx}-Search Provider-Value for Google, but this seems to be overwritten by some first logon command. Is there any Win 8.1 or IEAK-Hotfix to correct this behaviour?
2. This one is AFAIK in every IEAK since IE8, but it´s annoying anyway: you select that no MS Defaults should be added, and that only items created by the Administrator should be deleted, in the "Browsing Options" of IEAK but (in
the case of IE11) this one "Bing"-favorite resides there and says "Hello!" to every new user.
Problem 1 is the bigger one, but I´m glad about every kind of help and every answer!

So it did. The settings are being customized by "ie4uinit.exe -UserConfig" during Active Setup for each new user. I could not find where it was picking up its orders, otherwise I would have edited the ieuinit.inf or registry or xml
file rather than attempt to undo the damage using the below method. Documentation on ie4uinit.exe was nonexistent or hidden, and I didn't have the patience to keep filtering and trawling through 7000 reg entries to find the source of the problem.
As a test, disabling / renaming / removing the "stubpath" fixed the problem, but also vanished the Metro IE icon. I didn't pursue this further to see if this was a simple fix, choosing instead to make things a little more complicated:
During the deployment task sequence, I create another registry key under "Installed Components" in Active Setup. I don't know if there's a way to control the order of execution, but I think I got lucky enough that my stuff executes after
the other commands per user.

hklm_scope and hkcu_scope_current are exports of searchscopes that I'm reasonably happy with. Except after
KB2988414, my users are prompted to approve my change away from the default of Bing, only once. So MS wins again, unless I go uninstall that update and block it - except it was part of a cumulative rollup!
Anyway, I don't even care that much about which search engine goes, but search suggestions were ON by default, which is a big nono when dealing with sensitive work. Search suggestions mean that all text in a browser address bar is logged and stored
by the search company.
A creative workaround I hadn't thought of was to keep the Bing GUID and change all the values underneath to your search engine of choice:

I was considering this, but it still feels a bit hacky, and I'm sure it would only be a matter of time before something breaks it.
Oh, well. Not the ideal solution, and I resent beyond words the inability to set something from an administrator's task and then have the OS second-guess me and undo my changes via an update meant to give more control to users who could not care less
about these "enable" or "approve" prompts.

Search takes 3 times to recognise internet connection after update

Hi - after updating to iTunes 7.1.1 the Search works only after 3-4 attempts. The error is that it doesnt recognise that I am connected to the Internet and asks me to check my network settings. Only after I press Search 3-4 times does it work. Occassionally it will work 1st time but then I click on a search result and the same thing happens.
I've used iTunes for a few years now and it only happens since this upgrade. The only change I made is adding a Bluetooth dongle to connect to my Nokia phone. Any ideas out there?

It equally shows on the screen that I have to set up the iphone before using it again. I followed the on screen display then get connected to a WiFi, but the response I was getting is that the Set up Server cannot be contacted please try again latter. I chose the option of using itune through my Laptop. The response I was getting here is that my iphone cannot be connected the itune store because my iphone was not found.
I am regretting why I updated the ios. Please, can someone advise me on what to do please.

It sounds like there’s an issue with Settings, the Notes app entry isn’t showing up as expected. Take a look at the article linked below and try restarting your iPhone 3GS.

A brief search. Or even glancing at the "more like this" list to the right will show that this is a known problem and there is no current solution. Workaround includ saving to the desktop and importing from there or opening in Quick Look and adding to iPhoto from there
