No Option To Share To Photo Stream

I have upgradedmy iPad to iOS 6, downloaded iPhoto 1.1 and have discovered that when I click on the "share" icon, there is only an option to share with Apple's "Camera Roll" and no way to share with the "Photo Stream". Altogether it allows for 13 sharing options, but no Photo Stream. Is this correct? Is the idea that I have to share the photo with the Camera Roll, then exit iPhoto, enter Camera Roll to then upload it to a Shared Photo Stream?
If so, this seems a little cumbersome ... maybe I'm missing something here?

You've got it that is exactly the idea. Have a look at the help text in iPhoto: Ways to share photos

As long as you only use the general "My Photo Stream", adding an image to the Camera Roll will automatically add to "My Photo Stream", so you do not have to leave iPhoto to add the image to the Photo Stream. Only for "Shared Photo Streams" you will have to switch to the Photos app for now.

  • HT4858 Why is the option of share via photo stream gone then?.

On my iPad,150 photos selected. Less than the above limit. No video selected.

Using the Photo app, go to the photo steam album (tap Photo stream at bottom of screen). Then tap the stream you want.  On the page with all the photos, tap Edit.  Then choose photos and tap Share at bottom of screen.

  • TS3989 how can I share a photo stream from my mac? there's no check box in system preferences to turn it on

I've been having trouble to share my photo stream with other from my mac. Once I selecte the photos and click share>photo stream, nothing else happens. The option for "new photo stream" does not appear, neither the field where you type in the email addresses from people you whant to share it with. I all ready checked in iphoto'11> system Pref.> photo stream and there's no "shared photo strem" check box to turn on or off... I also checked in my mac system pref to be sure that my icloud is enabled and it is.
If I select photos and then go to my tool bar and press share. the option of photo stream is not available.
I also can't accept any shared photo stream from other and view it in my iphoto. I can only access it via web.
I DO can use my photo stream correctly and share it via my iphone. and every picture that I take uploads into my mac and every photo I import from cameras into my iphoto also uploads fine into my Ph stream. THE PROBLEM IS THAT I CAN'T SHARE THEM FROM MY MAC.....
    Please can someone help me?

You turn on Photo Stream in iPhoto's Photo Stream preference pane:
Check the box "Automatic Upload" to add every photo imported into the library to the Photo Stream.  Or leave it unchecked and manually add just selected photos to the stream by dragging them onto the Photo Stream heading in the left hand pane.

  • Why does iPhoto change the sort order of the photos in my album when I attempt to share via Photo Stream?

Why does iPhoto change the sort order of the photos in my album when I attempt to share via Photo Stream?

Did anyone find a good way to sort the shared albums better, so that the ones you share with can better find their way around.
You can arrange them manually in an album, select all and use the Photos ➙ Batch Change ➙ Date to menu option and check the box to add a set interval between photos. That will let the photos be sorted by date and be in the order you want:

  • No option to create shared photo stream?

I'm using Aperture 3.4.1 on both my iMac and my MacBook and am unable to create a shared photostream on either.
According to the instructions at http://help.apple.com/aperture/mac/3.3/#aprd8aa8a57, the user is supposed to:
To create a shared photo stream
Select the photos you want to share, then do one of the following:
Choose File > Share > Photo Stream.
Choose Photo Stream from the Share pop-up menu in the toolbar.
In the Photo Stream dialog, choose New Photo Stream from the Photo Stream pop-up menu.
In the To field, type the email addresses for your invitees., etc.
However, I never receive a Photo Stream dialogue or an option to choose "New Photo Stream".  When I click on PhotoStream from File>Share, Aperture immediately begins uploading the photos to my main feed.  Occasionally there is a flash that makes me wonder if Aperture is somehow suppressing a dialogue box.
Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions.

You are not mentioning your Mac OS X Version:
Just to be sure: Are you running MacOS X 10.8.2? Otherwise you cannot use a Shared PhotoStream.
And you have to enable "Shared PhotoStream" in "System Preferences > Photo Stream > Options".

  • I share a photo stream with a family member. Is there a way to make it so we have separate photo stream but still use the same apple id?

i share a photo stream with a family member. Is there a way to make it so we have separate photo stream but still use the same apple id?

You'll want a separate iCloud account for each user in addition to the main Apple ID used for purchases.
Let's say you have a family of four (husband, wife, and two children). Here is what you will need:
Main Apple ID for shared purchases in Tunes (everybody will be using this)
iCloud (Apple ID) account for husband
iCloud (Apple ID) account for wife
iCloud (Apple ID) account for child 1
iCloud (Apple ID) account for child 2
Yes, you can have both an Apple ID and iCloud account setup on the same device. On each iOS device, setup the main Apple ID account for the following services:
iCloud (Photo Stream and Backup are the only items selected here).
    Music Home Sharing
    Video Home Sharing
    Photo Stream
Additionally, on each iOS device, add a new iCloud account (Under Mail, Contacts, Calendar) that is unique to each user for the following services:
    Mail (if using @me.com)
    Contacts
    Calendars
    Reminders
    Bookmarks
    Notes
    Find My iPhone
    Messages
    Find Friends
    FaceTime
On your individual Macs (or Mac accounts), use the main Apple ID in iTunes. Then, use the unique iCloud account in/for iCloud.
Now that everbody is using separate iCloud accounts for your contacts, calendars, and other things, it will be all be kept separate.
The only thing that is now 'shared' would be iTunes content (apps and other purchases), backups via iCloud (if enabled), and Photo Stream (if enabled).

  • Why can't I share a photo stream album with all of my contacts?

I have been able to share one photo stream album with my sister who has an iPhone. When I try to share another album with both a friend who has an iPhone and another sister who does not have an iPhone, their names are greyed out in my contact list. Looking over my contact list for sharing photo stream albums, half of my contacts are normal, and the other half are greyed out. Any suggestions on how I can remedy this nd share with everyone in my contact list?

For users who have iOS devices, they get a direct connection to the shared stream.  For others, they need to get an email with a link that they use in a browser.  Not too clear on the details myself, but the following link should provide the answers you need.

  • How to upload from iphoto to icloud in title order using photo share (not photo stream)?

I can get the albums within iphoto (V9.6) into title order, however when they are uploaded to icloud (photo share, not photo stream) they lose that order. Can the photo shared images on the icloud web link be uploaded/or organised into the order that I have painstakingly created?

December 2014 Case Resolved by midnorthcoast
I found Old Toad's remedy presented by Tedious Tom here Keeping desired order of photos when sharing on iCloud
After labelling (titling) each of the 300 or so images carefully in numerical order I wanted to be sure that that's how they would be viewed once uploaded from iPhoto to Photo Share (not Photo Stream).  Note that I didn't want the ensuing iCloud weblink to be automatically emailed to others. I wanted to email the link personally. I find the automatic invitation's presentation confusing in regard to having to register to view the images or simply clicking the less obvious link. Plus I wanted the invitation to be more personal.
    Here's how I did it:
Transferred images from Finder to their own album within iPhoto
With the album open, made sure images were in title order,  View/Sort Photos/By Title
    Selected all images
Followed Old Toad's advice (except I changed from 1 minute to 1 second),  Photos/Batch Change/Set Date/Add 1 second between each photo
    Shared with iCloud,  Share/iCloud
Dialogue box comes up, Clicked on New photo stream
Another dialogue box,  filled in one of my email addresses (not my iCloud identity), unticked Subscribers Can Post, ticked Public Website, clicked Share
Opened iCloud within iPhoto and waited until finished uploading
Highlighted the album, clicked Info, copied the weblink shown under Public Website and pasted into personal email invitations

  • How to share a photo stream w/ family account

I have searched for two days for a solution, but could not find one.
    Our setup is as follows:
One iMac at home, where iPhoto and Yosemite is running on.
My wife has an iPhone 5S with iOS8 and I have one, too.
We have an iCloud Family Account, and she has her own Apple-ID, but is part of the family account.
    Prob:
Photos she is taking are not added automatically to the iMac - iPhoto Photostream. It only works with MY Photostream. It seems that one could only have a photo stream for one Apple-ID, regardless of a Family Account setup.
I have created a shared Family iCloud - Album, but I find this too cumbersome, since she needs to add photos manually to it all the time and secondly I don't know if these are added automatically to the iPhoto Media Lib on the iMac.
Desired solution: Without sharing the same Apple ID both iPhones should have a Photostream (not a shared iCloud album), and this photo stream should automatically add photos to the Media Lib on the iMac. Sort of a "shared photo stream".
Many thanks in advance - hopefully somebody has cracked this nut before me :-)
    Best, Georg

    Where are you looking?
There are a few ways to do it. You can select a photo in the Photo app then tap the Share button, there should be a Photo Stream button where you can add a new Photo Stream. Or from the Photo Stream section of the Photo app tap the (plus) button in the top left corner.
If these options are not available check Settings/iCloud/Photo Stream to ensure both My Photo Stream and Shared Photo Stream are turned on.

  • Why am I not able to share my photo stream?

I have been following the user help to enable my photo stream to be shared with others via the web but the iphoto does not provide me with the option of sharing or making public.

Create a new folio with the same files but do so at 1024x768 and let us know if that works.
BTW, are the files 2048x1536? That's not recommended...use 1024x768 and set the folio to 2048x1536.

  • In iOS 8, how can I share my photo stream AND assign different names to each of our devices in Find My Friends?

I'm using the iPhone 5c, and iPad mini, and my wife has a 5c, too.  We used to use my iCloud account as the main account on everything, so we could share our photos as we took them.  But now in iOS 8, Find My Friends is moved to iCloud.  I can't add my wife to Find My Friends, because it lists me on all of the devices.  How can I go back to taking a photo and it showing up on her device while allowing us to find each other?

I chatted with Apple tech support.  They said [add rolling eyes here] that this is easily solved with the new Family Sharing feature.  In other words, I sign in on my phone, my wife signs in on hers, and we share our photos in the Family folder.  Of course, no photos are automatically shared in the Family folder.  It's just a shared folder, something anybody could have created in iOS 7.  I would still have to drag all of my photos and my wife would have to drag all of her photos to the folder in order to share them.  Also, I notice that app updates on her phone are strangely being downloaded under her account, so when we make a change, it says the downloaded app will have to be deleted, because it was not downloaded through my account.  This Family Sharing thing is a joke.  I told the tech support lady that this didn't feel like much of a "feature" at all.  She suggested that I provide feedback if I didn't like it, which I did.
So there is no way to do what I'm wanting to do under iOS 8 at the moment.  I love Apple products, but wow, iCloud is a disaster at the moment.  Just look at all of the people who upgraded to iOS 8 and upgraded to iCloud Drive without understanding the implications.  Now they're getting an error message that they need to download Yosemite in order to access their documents, even though Yosemite isn't available to the public yet.  Not well planned.  In the meantime, we just don't share our photos in exchange for finding each other for lunch.
