No options for advanced tools in iMovie 10.0.3

When i go into preferences to turn on the advanced tools in imovie, i only get a slow motion, and a option for icloud loading. Any
idea whats wrong? i have looked online for answers, but have found nothing. Does this version not have the the option for Green
screen, side by side, etc.?

The "advanced setting" option no longer exists in iMovie 10.0.0.  Everything is already either in a tab or layed out in front of you.
In order to access most of your editing functions such as green screen and side by side, you may find them under the option located close to the top right hand corner of iMovie called "Adjust" which will put down a drop down menu of edits that my be done.

    @John:
You can switch the Online Help's language on its main/home-page to many other languages:
all versions have the same stucture - so, search in English, memorize the location (2.chp, 4th§… ) - done!

  • Imovie 11 Advance Tools Issues

I cannot get access to advance tools in iMovie.
Just updated it today Version 10.0.06 and there is not an option to select Advance Tools in preferences.
Advance tools options do not appear in the contextual menu when I drag one video clip onto another.
I cannot use green/blue screen effects.
I do have an old iMac (2009) but that has not been an issue in the past.

I have the same question ... and nothing, so far has helped. Using iMovie 11 9.0.4. I use this software VERY infrequently and I have before does side-by-side movie clips and photo-within-movie clip so I KNOW it can be done with my software and hardware.
However, I cannot for the life of me get it to work. As far as I know, "advanced tools" are ON and I'm dragging one clip to the top of a longer clip until the green + appears ... yet when I drop the clip, it lands either BEFORE or AFTER the targeted clip rather than having the contextual menu pop up.
Same goes with trying to drag a still photo into a video clip. It's driving me batty!
    What am I overlooking?

  • Why different ways to access options for tools?

Sometimes options for tools are in the Control panel, sometime you  double click on the tool, and sometimes you double click on the Artboard?
Is there a reason it works this way?  Just trying to understand the logic to make it easier to figure out which way to access options for which tools.
    Thanks!

Each area you sighted has different options. That's why they are different.
Items in the Control Bar are generally items you'll adjust per use.
Items by double-clicking the tool are generally set once per session, or once ever.
I don't know what you are referring to by "double-clicking the artboard" As far as I'm aware, that only enters or exits Isolation Mode. (And can be turned off in the preferences.)

  • Blue screen option does not appear in iMovie '11.

    Hey!
I am running OS X Lion on a 3 year old MacBook.  It's been running great...until today.
I am trying to add a background to a blue screen clip.  I've done it before in Snow Leopard on this machine.  This is my first attempt in Lion.
I have enabled "Advanced Tools" in iMovie '11.  However, when  I try and drag a background over a clip in Event Viewer, I don't get the green "+" symbol, and the background will only land either at the beginning of the clip, or at the end of the clip.
I have deleted my iMovie plist.  No joy.  I have deleted the Library/System Preferences folder.  No joy.
I have created a new user.  No joy.
I am completely out of ideas.  Anyone?  Anyone?

You were correct...I had the order reversed.  What a bonehead!
I hate the way Lion re-opens windows at startup and had done a tweak to stop it from doing so. The "tweak" involved a terminal command and, of course, I quickly forgot what I had done.  I convinced myself that I had disabled the ability of the OS to save, or enable, a change in program preferences.  Man, what tangled webs (pun intended) we weave.
Well, it's all good now.  Thank you very much for your advice.
    Vic

  • Why wont the contextual menu for imovie appear even after I've turned on advanced tools?

why wont the contextual menu for imovie appear even after I've turned on advanced tools?

    Hi
And You are doing it right
    • draging a clip ontop of other clip in Project - or -
    • ctrl-click on clip in Project
If it's not that - then my wild Guess is that the iMovie Pref file got corrupted.
    • TEST - Easy by creating a new User Account / Log into this / re-try iMovie - if it now works then I would trash the pref. file

  • Limited tools in iMovie for iphone6?

Hi, I just began using iMovie on my iphone 6 and was initially really excited until I realized I am missing editing tools.  All my videos I put into my movies are zoomed in to the center of the frame and are cutting the heads of people off.  Reading around, it appears that everyone has access to the tools such as crop, bit, ken burns effect, among others.  I literally don't have any of these tools.  Am I missing something?  All I can do is put a video in and determine if I want it in slo-mo or not. No other options to speak of.  What gives?  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

  • No "Advanced Tools" options...

I realize by reading other posts that I'm having problems with the "advanced tools" options that others have had as well on imovie 11. Although I'm still waiting for someone to respond on other posts I thought I'd put up my question anyways.
    The Problem:
The "advanced tools" option is definitely ON, but when I try to drag a clip on top of another nothing happens. According to many videos on youtube and support videos from apple say a pop-up menu with (pip, cutaways, green screen, etc) should come up, but I've tried several options and nothing seems to work.
Has anyone had the same problem and figured it out?
    Cesar.

    Finally figured it out!!!!!!
