No OS Disk and Mac running slow. Suggestions?!?!

So I don't know if it was an update or not but iTunes and my whole Mac has been running really really slow. I think it is a RAM issue but not sure. I would re-install the OS but when I bought my Mac I never got the install disk for Snow Leopard. Anyway I could get that from Apple for free? If not, any test I can run to find the problem?
Thank you!

You can't get discs from Apple for free. You can buy a Snow Leopard installer for $30 at any Apple Store or authorized reseller, or a duplicate set of the installer discs that came with your computer for somewhat more by calling Customer Relations at 1-800-767-2775.

  • Mac Running Slow after Yosemite

I have upgraded this machine but now applications hang.  I have cleared the cache, deleted applications such as Chrome, repaired  permissions and turned off any start up applications.
This is the EtreCheck output.  I am not sure how to read it - are there other items I should delete or amend?  Thanks

    MAC OS X version 10.6.8

If you are running OS 10.6.8 it has to be Intel.
Serious slowdowns, if not due to a hard drive failing, are caused by unnecessary third-party software. Please answer the following questions:
    1) Are you running any anti-virus/internet security applications?
    2) Are you running any "cleaning/tune-up/optimizations" applications?
    3) Any peer-to-peer or torrent downloading software?
    4) Any third-party disk backup software that came bundled with an external hard drive?
    5) Any online backup scheme other than iCloud (Carbonite; GoogleDrive; MS One Drive)?

  • Updated to mavericks now mac running slow.  magicperfs says that I don't have access every time we login?

cant find how to fix this

magicperfs - un-install using the developer’s instructions to make sure you remove all parts of the application. Some people recommend not installing an application unless you know how to remove it. Then try re-installing it.

  • Mac running slow when cut and paste

    Hi,
recently I noticed that my mac is running slow when I cut and paste (there is a delay of approx 1-2 secs). I thought it might be some kind of spyware which is trying to steal sensitive information such as passwords, credit cards and others. That would be surprising as I thought those were still rare in Mac. Any thought on this? Suggestions on how to protect my mac from these security issues? Thanks in advance!
    Mauro

    Morning smartasso,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If you find your Mac is running slowly, there are a number of potential causes that you can check.
For more information on this, take a look at this article:

  • My Mac won't Shut Down and is running Slow

It began with my Mac not shutting down or restarting.  The shutdown process will end with a white screan and the thinking icon in the center.
Slowly, over a few weeks, the comuter began running slowly.  Now my apps seem to be freezing on me often.  iPhoto, Aperature, & Light Room have all frozen on me at some point.  Other programs run slow.
Do I have a hardware problem?
    A Virus?
thanks in advance for your help.

First question is how much free disk space do you have?  Generally, around 10%+ is needed for OS X usage.

  • Mac running slow and Mackeeper not working since 10.9.2 installation

Why is my MacMini2 running slow after installing Mavericks?  Why is MacKeeper no longer available?

That is rather hard to believe. Just look around these forums. MacKeeper has destroyed, or at least made many systems practically unusable.
It's no longer available in the App Store because it's been pulled. And for good reason. Remove MacKeeper and never use it again. Depending on how old your copy is, it may not be at all easy to remove.
