I saw your post regarding the motherboard problems. If the HP service centre has told you that audio port is damaged you will have to replace the motherboard if you want sound. Page 75 of the Maintenance and Service Guide will show you how to replace it. The part number for your motherboard or system board as they are called in notebooks is 683031-501. You can order the part from HP PartsSurfer just search for the part number.

My audio/sound has been erratic for a while and now I have no output Help!
My audio/sound has been erratic for a while, both output and input, sometimes one would worked but not the other and sometimes both would be none excitant.
System preference does not show what I have connected aka external speakers or headset and the sound output in menu is grayed plus the output on system preferences output as well, sound input looks ok now.
Had Tiger, so I upgraded to Leopard to see if that would helped, Output use to come back after a while, however now input works but output hasn't worked for days, I can hear sound when I am rebooting or starting the computer, but its gone right after.
Since the Mac its fame for their audio stability, no ones seem to know how to solve the problem, so I am kinda desperate.
I have tried the following; ran repair permissions, looked for fluff lol!....still cannot fix the glitch. Any new ideas please!!
Thanks in advance!Since the problem existed before installing Leopard, it is clearly a hardware problem. Updating a broken system does not fix it, in fact many times it makes it worse or at least harder to diagnose.

Yosemite is messing with my new Retina Macbook Pro's sound output, help.
I just got my new Retina Macbook Pro 2 months ago and have been noticing some audio output issues. When I try to connect an external third-party audio device to run my KRK monitors my computer does not recognize the device and will not switch the audio output. After trying to set it manually my macbook won't even revert to the internal speakers for output and then I have to reboot my pro in order to get audio output again. This will happen randomly throughout the day after my computer has been in sleep as well, and sometimes the volume buttons get greyed out as well. Please help me with this issue as this is a new computer and it is becoming a nuisance. Even when connecting through HDMI, my audio output does not function and no sound will come out of the TV. I realize that this is probably a Yosemite glitch, but I just need to know if there is any fixes for this issue. Thanks so much for your time,

I would like to use an xsl transform to output an xml dom tree as a text file.
I have tried using <xsl:output method="text" media-type="text/plain"/>
and I use <xsl:text > to output text but my resulting file only contains the following line:

InDesign CS 5 vs Illustrator CS 5 large format output help needed
Ok here's the deal, I work in a small agency in Dubai, we have many nationalities and over here so, so many people use Illustrator for everything, and it drives me up the wall.
Anyway we had 40 2x3 metre boards to be designed and the lcient asked for them to be delivered as Illustrator EPS files. So each one would have to be done seperately with high res images in and this took days. Whereas in InDEsign it would take a quarter of that time.
They sare saying if I supply high res PDFs from InDesign the quality isn't as good. Something to do with rasterization?
Does anyoen know if this is true as I need some hard facts abotu this before I can tackle my boss and the client next time and eventually get everyone using InDesign instead of Illustrator, which is pretty stupid.
One more thing, one of the guys here did a 3 metre high board in Photoshop and it came out fine (if not a massive file) and he says he knows for a fact if it was done in InDesign it wouldn't output as well.
Any thoughts or help would be greatly received,

I don't doubt for one second that this is indeed your experience and that you have settled into what I can best describe as a very degenerate workflow in order to get your job done under the conditions you describe.
Having said that, I must say that your experience and the fact that you believe that this is the best workflow you can achieve given the conditions is an exceptionally sad commentary on the state of the graphic arts industry in general and the printing industry in particular. The workflow you describe is a “lowest common denominator” workflow that almost guarantees that in most cases in which you have anything other than pure raster imagery to print, you will get results that are not optimal.
You should be able to use PDF/X-4 files as the means of passing artwork from your clients to you and then subsequently from you to your printers. Source files (i.e., native Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop files as well as assets such as imagery and fonts) should not be the currency of the realm here.
When I need to go “outside” to print (for anything my fleet of laser printers and wide format printers can't handle including offset printing jobs), I typically go and interview the print service provider and provide a sample job to print using a PDF/X-4 job with live transparency and color managment. If they cannot handle it in their normal workflow or cannot adjust to the twenty first century very rapidly, I move on to another print service provider. For better or worse, there are plenty of very hungry printers out there and at least some of them realize that unless they learn to deal with modern workflows, they will be history like the many thousands of other such printers that have gone belly-up over the last half dozen years!

I realize now that JBuilder is Not the IDE of choice when doing programs that utilize the File class methods.

PRINTING OUTPUT HELP - MAC OS X 10.4.11
Mac os x 10.4.11, HP D2430, for a week now when I print the document comes out in the center and the font size 7, HP shipped me a new printer and the same problem. Page Setup is to US Letter and no matter what the same thing. Please Help

This forum is for issues with Mac OS X 10.5 Server, and though Brian has been kind enough to try and assist, you'll be more likely to get help if you ask in the most appropriate forum. Query output help: Display self-referencing table
Hello,
I'm trying to display in a cfoutput a self-referencing table.
I'll start by showing some of the data in the table.
There are only 3 columns, pl_id (auto increment id pri-key),
pl_name and pl_parent_id (it's 0 if it's a parent, otherwise it's
the pl_id value for the parent).

4 Japan 1

What I'm trying to output is something like this:
Country - US - Idaho (3 levels here) or

I've tried using a cfoutput with a cfloop as well as grouping
but not having any luck. Could someone clear my clouded head on
this one?

In my Flex 3.6 app, I have a set of controls that allow the user to pick the date/time. The user does this by selecting a date from a DateInput, an hour, minutes and AM/PM through three ComboBox. I then combine the selections into a string and output in a Label control.
I now need to compare the date/time selected to a set of date/times that are allowed. I keep running into the error "1067: Implicit coercion of a value of type String to an unrelated type Date."
How can I convert my date/time string into a valid date object so I can compare it with other date objects?

Canvas color doesn't match QT output - help!
I noticed today that my footage is appearing darker in the canvas window than it does when viewed in QuickTime. I did the following test:
1. Export a "Quicktime Movie", not self-contained, and opened that in QuickTime. Move to a specific frame for comparison.
2. Move to the same frame in the FCE canvas.
The image in the canvas looks markedly darker - to the point that I would make color corrections on it...but looking at the QT version, it seems correction is not necessary. They're quite different.
I've uploaded a screenshot of both windows next to each other here, which makes the difference obvious:

I see the same thing when exporting and compressing with QT...I first noticed the problem when making a video for the web.
Can someone please help me figure out what's going on?I did some more research, and I think I figured out what's going on.
I think FCE (and FCP from what I'm reading) assumes your monitor is calibrated to a gamma of 1.8, and it "darkens" the images in the canvas to make them appear as they would on a gamma 2.2 display or a video monitor (which are apparently natively close to 2.2).
However, if your screen is calibrated to gamma 2.2 (most photo editing workstations are), then FCE still "darkens" everything in the canvas (it's assuming it's gamma 1.8), and in the process totally screws things up.
When videos are exported, this adjustment doesn't occur, so the video looks as it should. It's only inside the canvas that things are artificially adjusted, and everything gets messed up.
Sigh.
Assuming this is in fact what's happening, anyone have ideas how to fix this? It's totally annoying; my screen is calibrated very specifically for my still photography work, and I'd hate to have to have a totally separate display profile just work working within FCE, and then switch back to the regular one when viewing exported videos... -

The year is a number from 1900. So u need to substract 1900 from the value u got before.

Parsing simple output help needed
Goal: for each hostname (mars, phobos, and deimos grab the value of state = in a variable so I work on it further.
I figured I'll need to use sed to find the target host name, then substitute the "linefeed and what I am assuming is a tab state =" to null and grab the state (in this case "free") into a variable. What I don't know how to do is: see the output of the command showing all non-printable characters so I can setup a grep or sed line. How is this accomplished in bash?

Quicktime codecs missing AE can't output HELP!!! :)
I recently uninstalled my older versions of CS3 & CS4 from my computer, with those I seemed to lose my quicktime codecs. When I go to render out of AE I am missing lossless, alpha only, lossless with alpha, Quicktime DV NTSC, PAL 48khz, and Ram Preview. Is there any way to get the quicktime components reinstalled? A link?
My output to in Render also says Unknown Output Destination... When clicked it errors: After Effects warning: cannot output to this format because it is not currently installed. (39 :: 99)
I also get the following errors at program start You have at least one output module template that refers to a missing output plug-in. Please check your Output Module Templates.

Dunno, I have not bothered; everything I need from QT is readily available but I have not had a request for any products using legacy codecs.
We tend to bristle when our best people take a hit. As a community professional, I bow regularly to Myl's seemingly infinite knowledge as well as his tolerance and patience. I think he's a (pitiful) Windows user so an expectation for him to know everything about Apple's weirdly subtle OS changes is a stretch.

Can't enter BIOS & Optical output help...

Firstly, I can't enter my BIOS via keyboard (USB or PS/2), I've tried repeatedly pressing the DEL key at startup but all that happens is I enter the boot manager! I can enter BIOS via CLICK2BIOS but due to needing to reformat and reinstall Windows i'd like to be able to enter BIOS via keyboard in case I need to?
Secondly, I can't seem to get my Optical out working in 5.1 when running a game (BF3). The only place my PC (Windows 7) will actually recognize 5.1 is here:
When I highlight Dolby and click test, It does perform the test and It does include the surround speakers.
After I ran Live Update 5, I seem to have lost a load of options in the Realtek HD Audio manager, see here:
Before I ran Live Update 5 I had allsorts of graphic EQ options here. I only ran the update as I couldn't get 5.1 to work but now it seems I have less options than before. I have of course selected Surround within my game but the AV receiver just remains on 2 channel.
