No Packages for Streaming Channels only?
I have FIOS Internet service only and have ditched the Verizon Router almost 2 years ago. At the time, the provided routers did not provide Gigabit ports and the wireless was not great IMO. I have no desire to reconnect this router or watch live TV on a regular basis. Got rid of DirecTV and use Netflix and HuluPlus for TV content. On the rare occasion I wanted to watch AMC for Walking Dead as it played live, I wanted to use the FIOS App on my XBox 360 and XBox One. I was told I needed to subscribe to one of the full TV packages to get any of the streaming channels. Maybe I'm the minority here, but feel Verizon is missing out on a subscriber base.
Any ideas?

A lot of your content providers with channels who offer streaming media through their websites or apps require a subscription from a cable provider, it's not just a Fios thing. Because of contracts with cable providers to carry the channels they aren't just going to allow you to watch their content without paying for some kind of subscription.
Hulu, Netflix, etc. run their own paid subscription services which is why you can view their content however you want, but if you want to watch cable shows outside of those services that aren't on them, you are going to have to subscribe elsewhere.
You can get local channel streaming such as ABC, CBS, etc. for free through their apps, but if it's a cable channel one way or another you're going to pay if you want what's offered.

Custom packager for streaming?
We've been developing an implementation of Flash Access that included our own packager, based on the packager that comes with the reference implementation. The customization allows for overriding the CEK, automcatically assigns a contentId and records the same in our database, and tailors a unique license request base URL for that content.
We want to support streaming video, and so have been following the information found here: http://www.adobe.com/products/httpdynamicstreaming/. It appears that packaging files for streaming requires a different packager, f4fpackager.exe. I haven't seen if there's a way to build our own streaming packager. Is there a way we can package video for streaming and get the customization we need?

It looks like the f4fpackager can either fragment & encrypt, or just fragment. Can we use the f4fpackager to fragment only, and then run our custom packager to encrypt? If so, how is that done?

Under my Window 7 64-bit OS, I've installed both Nightly Build v28 and v29 to perform "internet speed test" and each time, I can only achieve something < 2 mbps for my home Wi-Fi, gateway router which is about >56 Mbps. The only working Nightly version was v23 that could achieve close to >52 mbps. But once I update v23 to higher version, all the normal high speeds I could achieve at Nightly v23 are gone. The same issue plagued also firefox v26 under Win 7 64-bit.
For clarification, this is not true under Win 7 32-bit OS - the same firefox v26 works fine to achieve the raw BW speed close to and >56 mbps. WHy not in 64-bit OS seems to be the main question?

Shao Mahello Shao Ma, when you are using speedtest.net or a similar flash-based site to measure your connection speed then it might be an issue with the protected mode that [http://blogs.adobe.com/asset/2012/06/inside-flash-player-protected-mode-for-firefox.html adobe has introduced] for its flash plugin for firefox. some old versions of f-secure or trusteer rapport are known to cause such slowdowns together with flash, or it might be something similar on your system that is interfering (maybe security software that is blocking/sandboxing the container used for the protected mode, etc...).
as a workaround you could try [http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1018071#TemporaryWorkaround disabling protected mode] & see if this makes a difference.
in case you'd like to troubleshoot the issue further, it would be best to contact adobe's support & file a bug report at bugbase.adobe.com (choose "Adobe Flash Player" as the product & "Browser Integration" as the product area), since they will have a better understanding of the internals of flash protected mode & therefore may know what else might be at the root of the problem you were seeing. -
EP60 : Business Package for Communication & Exchange
Hello, I see that the Business Package for Communication isn't supported on SAP EP 6.0 SP2. Is there any other package available which can be used for Exchange integration and EP60 SP2? Sorry if this is an obvious answer but I am new to portals and part of our project sign off was the ability to do exchange integration.

Please note that the Business Package for Communication was only available for SAP EP 5.0. Newer releases of SAP EP contain the groupware (GW) functionalities and some GW iViews automatically as soon as KM is installed with the EP. The integration with MS Exchange 2003 should work. If you look for iViews such as Send EMail, Create Appointment, Show availability and Room Calendar, you can use the iViews shipped by SAP. If however you need the EMail inbox or the personal calendar and tasks, then the native OWA iViews are the way to go. Business Package for Communication with NW04 and Exchange 2003?
Hi, we are evaluating opportunities to realize a groupware integration in the SAP Portal EP60SP2. A upgrade to Netweaver is planned, so the possible solution should work with Netweaver too. Our Exchange version is 2003.
I'm thinking about the standard SAP Groupware-Integration in combination with the Business Package for Communication.

I know, it's not officially supported, but maybe it works.
With the OWA-iViews we've got problems to implement our Styleguide and to devide into different iViews. The informations shown in the iViews of the Business Package are adequate and we would save ActiveX.

i recently upgraded my 4s to a 5s. the verizon store took my old phone for a trade in. i cannot get any of my pictures to download from icloud. my photo stream folder only has a small percentage of the photos in it. any help would be greatly appreciated.
That's possible if he didn't connect to a WiFi hotspot after taking them. I don't think the "Personal" Photo Stream uploads over Cellular, unless they changed it since the last time I used it.
If that's the case, then the photos likely didn't upload to Photo Stream and are stuck on the phone.
And you're not going to be able to get them back, either. -
Is there a package for installing the FlexNet service only?

we are trying to virtualize Acrobat Pro 9 using Softgrid/App-V. Unfortunately the FlexNet service does not support virtualization. According to the virtualization community a possible workaround would be a local installation of the FlexNet service on our terminal servers.
To do that I need an installation package for the FlexNet service only or command line parameters for installing the service from the normal package without installing acrobat.
Is such a package or command available somewhere?

The question says it all. I have been all over the tutorials as well as the menus inside Premiere 13 and cannot find how to edit the audio track beyond basic balance, volume, etc.
I can see the Audio 1 track, shows audio in left channel only, but it will not respond to attempts to select, cut/copy, paste, etc.
Basically I just want to turn one-channel audio into two-channel audio.25424...

For example, you might use this effect on footage shot with a monaural microphone plugged into only one channel of a camcorder, extending the voice of a speaker from one channel to both.
From what you wrote, your Premiere Pro video seems to be saying the same.
If that Premiere Elements Fill Left or Fill Right is no go, you might want to explore what you can do in this regard using the free audio editor Audacity.

And, then import the Audacity edited audio back into Premiere Elements project as source media.

HD package confusion - sports channels and Extreme HD
I'm a recent FIOS convert from Optimum. After about 10 days I can say I am very pleased for the most part with the new service. Picture quality is better and I like the guide and DVR features better than my Optimum STB.
The one problem I have had surfaced on the day of my installation. I ordered the Extreme HD package along with the movie promo package for 3 months. When I went to test my new gear with the Golf Channel HD it showed "not subscribed" and my installer explained that I wouldn't be getting that (or Tennis, which I also wanted) if I wasn't also subscribed to a Sport Package.
I pulled out the channel line-up document I was given when I placed the order at Verizon kiosk. It's the "Downstate New York August 2009" color brochure. In it there is a big red box for "Extreme HD" that says (quoting now) "EXTREME HD includes all channels in the box below & in FIOS TV Local. Additional subscriptions may be added. To order this package or other subscription packages go to verizon.com/fiostvcentral." All of the sport channels, including Golf, Tennis, NFL, etc. are listed in the box and there is nothing to suggest that additional subscriptions are needed. That's what the salesman confirmed.
So, my poor installer guy said he couldn't do anything. I called Verizon, got shuffled around a bit, and finally got to someone who tried explaining that the brochure in my hand wasn't actually the one for the area I live in. And yet my community is one of those listed under Local Programming.
In the end what he offered to do was to give me the additional sport package subscription for a discount for the next 12 months. At that point I was tired of spending time on the phone. But I am still not happy about it.
Has anybody had a similar experience? It's the only black mark on my FIOS so far, but it's a pretty big one.Believe me, I have been over this thing with a magnifying glass looking for something like that. It just isn't there. Of course, there is the standard language at the end of the brochure that "Programming services offered within each package are subject to change..."
Still, it feels a bit like bait and switch. I was getting Golf and Tennis (both SD and HD) in Optimum for no additional charges. -
Support for n-channel icc-profiles
I have recently attended a symposium where some speakers touched on Photoshop’s (or the whole CS’) lack of support for n-channel ICC-profiles.
And (while I have to admit that the ramifications may be beyond my comprehension) the point seems very much valid.
I suspect this issue might also concern the matter of the Spot Channels-and-Layers-situation that has come up in this Forum repeatedly and changing the current situation may well fall in the neighbourhood of Programming and Nightmare.
Moreover the question of who should or could provide those profiles in any quality regarding the overprint behaviour of the tints (and their possible combinations) would appear daunting.
Still, even a simplyfied physical model may be an impovement to the recent situation.
Plus, as the speakers pointed out, anything above a 7-channel profile is hardly realistic, anyway.
In all probablity Adobe is already aware of the matter through its contacts with/in ICC, FOGRA and other bodies concerned with printing-matters (and their representative at said symposium).
Nonetheless I would like to voice my support for the demand to see n-channel ICC-profile-support in Photoshop.
Edit: This might be especially beneficial with flexo-printing in CMYKOGB (CMYK + orange + green + blue) – I don’t have enough experience with flexo to judge this with any statistical relevance, but it seems to be fairly popular.Thanks for Your answers.

But it would seem that this may be a solution to certain dissatisfactions with the Spot Channels’ behaviour that have come up in this Forum, too.
Well, not a straightforward solution, I guess, as one may not want to separate an image using the additional Channels but keep that in CMY(K) and only use the Spots for graphic elements etc. … and if Photoshop were to provide seven-Channels-Layers I suspect it wouldn’t be long until someone asks for eight.
The packaging-industry’s needs don’t seem to be met by the CS currently, but the cost-benefit-considerations are certainly valid. -

- install external authentication (such as an LDAP which can be populated from the R/3 backends)
- install an additional Java instance
I would go for both of them because
- it will make things easier if you implement other functionality that is in the portal (non-ESS)
- it will avoid patching one portal and to keep the SPs of both backend systems in sync with the portal

An application for multi-channel measurements
Does NI have a software solution for multi-channel measurements? I mean systems for measurements, tests and monitoring which contain numerous DAQ devices with thousands of sensors.
I suppose the software for such system should have the following features:
Instrument control
Sensor management (type, s/n, accuracy, calibration data, next calibration date, measurement limits, etc.)
Data acquisition
Storing data in databases
Data visualisation and analysis
Report generation
Tools for creating custom user interfaces / data visualisations for monitoring
As far as I know the DIAdem is great for data analysis, visualisation and report generation but it's not suitable for other tasks. With LabVIEW you can do anything but it's not an "out-of-the-box" solution.
Just to clarify what I'm talking about, here's an application that seems to fit the description. It's the HBM catman. Maybe someone worked with it? Do you know any analogues for it?Just to add to Hooovahh's comments.
NI has flat out stated that they do not want to make turn-key solutions. That would take away from them being able to make tools for people to create the solutions. That is why they have alliance partners. These partners take the tools made by NI and make really cool stuff. My latest project was a software package that helped a technician build a jet engine correctly so that the turbine blades do not come out and destroy the engine (just slightly important). I have also done some test systems for space craft avionics.
So if you are really serious about this, I highly recommend finding an Alliance Partner to help you out. If you want, give me a PM and I can work on getting you and a few people on my side to discuss your requirements and proceed from there.
