No page display icons/can't change page display

Just installed Digital Editions on a MacBook Pro; there are no page display icons to change the view (to side-by-side pages, or one, etc) and the keyboard shortcuts don't work either. Any thoughts?

You are most likely viewing an ePub file. The only controls are the font size controls, and the view will automatically move to a two page view when the combination of screen size/font size is enough to display the content in that view. On my MacBook Pro this happens in a medium font view with the window maximized to full width.

Are you using an add-on to replace the blank new tab with your home page? Perhaps this is controlled by a feature of the add-on?

Well, i have a problem i cannot solve : my Hard Disk has two partitions and and i cannot paste anything for the first one's icon. paste seems to work but nothing happens.
All other icons can be changed.
Any user can remove custom icon from this partition, but only root can paste a new one...
I have repaired permissions, verified disk, empty all caches, etc using applejack and even Tiger Cache Cleaner.
Nothing works !
One more thing : i have a local Network and when i connect to another computer using a login and a password (ie christine / pass ) then the window gives me the choice between then HD and christine_HomeDir instead of christine. This happens even with root account...
I can't understand why these two things don' t work fine.
Maybe someone can help me ?

For sideloaded content the nook pulls the metadata from ePub file itself. I would suggest looking at a program like Sigil or Calibre that will let you edit the metadata in the book to make it appear like you want.
For the PDF vs ePub - No, that's the way PDFs work (think of them as graphics, not text), wheres ePubs are Web Pages - so no you can't them to behave exactly alike without converting the files.

Hello mamamague
All you need to do is select Insert->Section Break. A new page will be started. To adjust the margins you need to select the Layout Inspector (second icon on the top of the inspector) and adjust the margins in there. The Document Inspector still makes global changes and the layout ones are relative to them. It helps to turn Show Layout and Show Invisibles on so you can see what's happening to the document format as you play with these settings.

How can I change the page size of a scanned PDF document?
I scanned a 50-page document with an HP 5610xi All-In-One using the software that comes with it: HP Scan Pro. Though the physical document has standard 8.5" x 11" pages, the PDF resulting from scanning has page size set to 35.42 × 48.67 inches (according to Preview's "Tools > Inspector". I want to resize the pages to 8.5" x 11". Shouldn't Preview be able to do that with "Tools > Adjust Size..."? When I try, the menu option is grey so I can't select it.
I'm using Preview Version 4.2.

Thanks for the insight; that explains why it's the wrong size. I selected 300dpi scanning (which is the default, actually), but HP Scan Pro evidently created a PDF with 72dpi indicated. I want it fixed because I want to distribute the file to other people and have them able to print or display it without problems.
I still don't know why Preview won't let me change it, but your question about whether I wanted to print it did lead me to find a workaround: "File > Print" and "Save as PDF..." saved it with the correct page size.

Can you change the language shown in templates, all templates in pages are in Spanish not English?

Every time that I use pages it offers me templates but when I go to use them they are always displayed in Spanish and not in English.

It's pseudo-latin filler text and can't changed. You need to create you own english content to replace the filler.

How can I change a print-ready booklet PDF file to single pages?

I have a PDF file that is already in booklet-view, so when viewing the document, page 1 of the PDF shows the last page of the booklet on the left hand side and the first page of the booklet on the right hand side. Is there a way to change the 2-up pages to 1-up pages? Or a free program that I can throw the file into that would display it online as a booklet, in sequential page order?

Using Adobe Acrobat/Reader, you can simply change your PDF view settings under "View > Page Display > Single Page View"

Single open tab, Click "x" to close, browser defaults to a web page for my bank. How can I change to "blank" or some other page?

Have a single open tab. Regardless of the website active in that tab, if I close it (click "x"), FF shows my bank's homepage. I'd prefer not to display my bank homepage. How can I change to another page or, preferably, a "blank" page?
This happens regardless of the page current when I close the single tab and after I close and restart FF. Haven't tried rebooting computer.

Can we change the View attribute of the Switcher through PERSONALISE PAGE? I want this switcher to display another column. This switcher that i want to change is a seeded one. I have extended a VO and added a new attribute. I want this Switcher to display this new attribute. How can I acheive this.

When I do exactly that I get a .XLS file that when you open it and click Save As comes up in Single Web Page mode. When I change the type I get a much smaller file. I am doing exactly what you describe, but with different results. Is it possible that this is configurable?

Here is the properties of the file. As you can see the size is 215kb This is actually a very small query for for demonstration purposes. I have queries that return 20k rows with 10 to 15 columns. This creates a spreadsheet that is over 20MB.

Here is the new properties. The file size has decreased to 57.5kb. In the cases where I had files that were 20MB or greater (and took aver 10 minutes to open up), this process reduced those files to about 200kb.

You can add a message to the login page by signing on as SYSTEM and navigating to Administration -> Manage Login Message. The text displays on the lower left of the Login page.

I would assume that the website sends negative number with a special CSS class code or uses JavaScript to to change the style afterward.

You need to create a new Apple ID to use with the other iPad, then sign out in Settings>iCloud and sign in with the new ID. Of course any data such as contacts and calendars which have been synced from the first iPad will be removed from the second one when you do this.

That's Activation Lock. You will need to remember the Apple ID and password you used to set up the phone.
If you can't remember them, you can go to iforgot.apple.com to try to recover the information.
If you are the original owner of the phone & have proof of purchase, you can try calling Apple to see if they can assist also.
