No Page Down key

Hello, please advise if this post is in the wrong forum. I have been using a Mac Mini at work together with an Apple keyboard model A1242. In reading PDF documents I would like to scroll by page, but the help says just press the Page Down key, which this keyboard does not have. Is there a shortcut for this or is it just not possible? If so, is that info in Help somewhere? TIA.

Page Up and Page Down keys

I converted a forms 5.0 program to Forms 6.0.
Strangely my PageUp and PageDown keys are not working any more. In forms 5.0, Pageup and Page down keys automatically scroll my records. But in forms 6.0 they do not work.
I tried the ScrDown, SCRUp triggers to associate them to PageUpa and PageDown but it did not work. Can any one suggest me how I can make my PageUp and PageDown keys in forms 6.0?

Now I'm not sure how to isolate problem... I should have done [next tip ahead] before, but thought what I tried before was sufficient.
I opened a long 'text' file in the browser to see how the Page Up, Page Dn & arrow keys would work, and they appear to work fine. But on 'html' pages of popular websites, the keys do not work right. The arrow keys don't work at all sometimes, and the Page Up, Page Dn keys sometimes work in 'semaphore' fashion; that is, pressing Page Up 'once' does nothing, then 2nd time, page moves up; 3rd time, nothing; 4th time, page moves up, etc.
(Note: I also tried changing the 2 'scroll' related settings in Tools>Options>Advanced>General, but those had no effect. I left both 'on".)
[Also, I never use Tab & Ctrl keys for scrolling, and using them now does not affect anything.] This is only about the Page Up Page Dn and arrow keys, which used to work fine pre-8.0.1, and now do not work as expected.

Page up & page down keys don't work in Preview

why don't the Page Up and Page Down keys on an extended (Apple) keyboard work in Preview? very annoying. only the up-down arrows seem to work, and only one line at a time. i'd like to jump whole pages, or something close to that. if anyone knows a keyboard shortcut please let me know. i've tried the usual suspects.. shift-up/down arrow seems to maybe jump a few lines at a time, but not enough.
macbook pro 15, os x 10.7.5, preview 5.5.3.

Even the menu item for Go | Down doesn't work.
Page up works for me, though.

The "page down" key goes too far down - how can I adjust it?

When I'm scrolling through an article or webpage and hit the "page down" key, the jump down is too far and I have to scroll back up a couple lines to see what it missed. Is there a way to adjust that?

Are you zooming the page or have adjusted default font sizes?
It is possible that this affects the behavior of scrolling as this can be a fixed amount of pixels.
Look at these prefs (see about:config) to set the scrolling behavior with the keyboard.

The wireless keyboard doesn't have a page down key. How do you program a keyboard shortcut for Page Down?

My new wireless keyboard doesn't have a page down key. Very customer-hostile, at least in Office Apps. The list of available keyboard shortcuts doesn't inclue Page Down. Anyone know how to program a keyboard shortcut for Page Down?

My Firefox has JUST started jumping to the BOTTOM of a web page when I hit either the Page Down key or the Down Arrow, WHY?!?

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium, Service Pack 2. Today my Firefox started jumping to the BOTTOM of a websites page INSTEAD of going down one screen at a time like the Page Down key has been doing (on any browser I have ever used).

Look in the class BasicLookAndFeel. There is a definition for the UIDefaults entry "ScrollBar.focusInputMap". It is initialized with a set of keystroke definition for the input map. You can modify this definition and add a new map to the defaults map or you can create and add the map to instances of JScrollPane.

Unexpected behavior from "page down" key

For reasons that elude me, the "page down" key on my keyboard now opens a folder on my hard drive rather than performing its designated function. I have no idea how its function got remapped (the "page up" key continues to operate normally). Any idea how to restore its original operation? I couldn't find a preference panel that specifically modifies the "page down" key.

is this an apple keyboard? i would try unplugging it, (if it is wired, that is) letting it sit for a minute, and plugging it back in. i would also try resetting the pmu (which varies according to how new your imac is) and running disk repair from the install disk http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302672. also make sure you have "english" selected as keyboard type in keyboard preferences. if so, i would pull the keyboard.plist, which stores preferences for keyboard type, and restart computer. if that does nothing, put the plist back in original place. if none of these things worked i would archive and install your operating system, preserving users and performing necessary updates to get system back to 10.4.6. [ 8 ) ]

Page Down Key skips locked slides

I just spent many months developing training content using
Adobe Presenter and I use the Lock feature to "require" a student
to view the entire slide (i.e., audio) before they continue.
However, I just realized that the page down key allows the student
to skip to the next slide before the current slide is done playing.
In fact, a student can use the page down key to skip through the
presentation as quickly as they desire. The only good news is that
the page down key doesn't let them skip a quiz question that is set
to "answer all."
Is there a setting I can use that will prevent the page down
key from allowing a student to skip through the
presentation?

Yes, I could see this problem with Presenter 7.0.2 . But it is not seen with Presenter 7.0.5 . It just came today

Changing "page down" keys on G3-Pismo

On my G3-Pismo, I like the way function-keys operate on the top and bottom-left, but not bottom-right where there is an option-key (which I rarely use) but no command-key (that I often use) and -- this is what bothers me -- there is a "line down" key, but to get "page down" you have to simultaneously push the "fn" key at bottom-left. This seems like a bad design choice, since I (and also others?) OFTEN use page-down (when reading web-pages,...) but almost never use line-down. WHY would they make these choices, for option & line-down?
More important, is there any way to CHANGE the function of these keys? It would be great if I could re-define their function so they would do a "command" and "page down". Is this possible?

[SOLVED] Page Up and Page Down keys no longer working correctly

3.12.9-2-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT x86_64
I use KDE 4.12.2
For some reason - applications in KDE are no longer responding to the PgUp and PgDown keys.
For example previously in firefox PgUp/PgDown would scroll the current web page up or down, but now it doesn't work.
Firefox DOES change tabd using CTRL + PgUp/CTRL + PgDown as previously.
Another example Okular ignores PgUp/PgDown - although (again) it does respond to CTRL + PgUp/CTRL + PgDown.
Previously it responded with the correct move one page up and down.
If I go to a terminal
showkey
keycode 28 release
# PgDown
keycode 109 press
keycode 109 release
# PgUp
keycode 104 press
keycode 104 release
If I try to set a keyboard sortcut in a KDE app (e.g. change the Previous / Next page keyboard shortcut in Okular) the app recognises the PgUp and PgDown keys, but the application doesn;t respond.
I've also tried a different keyboard and I get the same behaviour.
I'm completely baffled, any help?

From what I understand - they would have to be global keyboard shortcuts. I've looked in the KDE system settings anmd there are no global shortcuts defined for PgUp and PgDown. I certainly haven't configured anythin to use them.
I'm not sure if there is anywhere else to look for them.
EDIT: So after about an hour or so of poking around, it seems I DID set shortcuts for PgUp/PgDown (and promptyl forgot about them.)
These set global shortcuts that aren't recognised by the KDE system settings shortcuts applet.

Why do my page up/page down keys stop working randomly in Firefox 4.

One minute they're working, the next minute they are not, and I have to close and restart Firefox to get them working again. These keys work fine in other browsers. Any ideas?

You may have inadvertently turned on the Caret browsing mode. Hit '''F7''' and see if the up / down arrow keys work.

I REALLY hate the page up/page down functions that automatically loaded with the program. I LIKE to use my page up/page down keys for web browsing. How can I get these keys to work properly, or any of the keys to work "normally" as I have in the past?
