No password to email, facebook and calendar

How come that there is no possibility to limit access to certain info on the iPad? If I let someone use the iPad to surf on the internet or play Angry Birds for instance, that person can easily see all my private things too, like GMail, fb (MyPad), my Calendar etc. Is there no way to limit what friends can enter and see on my iPad?

There is no lock possible on settings, I have read other posts like yours but I guess you just have to take care of who does what with your iPad yourself. Maybe with the next iPad, (iPad 3) we will see it. You can always make suggestions to Apple .

  • My wife and I share an Ipad.   We each have our own email address and calendar.   What is the best way for us to backup both accounts (we currently only have 1 ICloud account)?   Thanks for any help!    Alan

My wife and I each have our own email address and calendar.  These are on one IPad.   The Ipad has a single ICloud account.
What's the best way to backup both Calendars, etc?   Does ICloud automatically back up every account on the same IPad?  (I checked ICloud, but I could only find my stuff.)
    Thanks for any help!
    Alan

First, you need to understand that there's a difference between "syncing" and "backup".  Backup is the saving of content and settings, where syncing is the bidirectional transfer of content for an account to a web-based server (like iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo, etc.)
If you see your calendar in your iCloud account, that implies that you have set up your iCloud account to host (sync) your calendar, and perhaps contacts, email, and notes.  An iCloud account can only sync one user's information at a time so it is intended to support a single user.  You can have more than one iCloud account, and you can even have more than one iCloud account on the same device (but one has to be primary, and the secondary iCloud has limited capabilities), but a single iCloud account only supports a single user's content.
Backup is the saving of your device's content and settings to use in case you need to recover these things, but you can't see the contents of your backup (just the size and device name).  You can backup more than one device to iCloud and you can backup to iCloud or you can backup to your computer, or both (one at a time though, you have to choose).
So, if your wife has her own email and calendar she can certainly do that in parallel to whatever account(s) you have for email and calendar.  But if you have only one iCloud account then only one of you can use it for email, calendar, etc.  But the backup of these accounts is really just a backup of the device's settings that link the device to these accounts. For example, if she uses Gmail then the backup of the iPad only backs up the fact that your iPad is set up to use her account, it does not backup the account itself (the content of her account is saved and preserved on Google's servers, not your device's backup).
    Does that make better sense?

  • How many ghz should I get if I plan on using my IPAD2 for internet access, email, facebook and games for my children?

How many ghz should I get if I plan on using my IPad2 for internet access, email, facebook and games for my daughters children?

Ghz is the CPU speed and that is fixed for each iPad model.
The GB is the number of Gigabytes of storage.
I had a 32G iPad1 and filled it up with 5000 songs, 20,000 photos and about 50 apps.  It doesn't sound like you will need anything larger than that.  If you are just talking about a few dozen apps and email, the 16G version should be adequate.

  • Syncing email, contacts and calendars

Feeling a little overwhelmed with my problem as a recent Mac convert. Have tried to do research on this issue but have had no luck finding a solution that works for me. Not entirely sure this question is in the right category but here goes:
I have a personal gmail account and a home-business email through a domain. I am running MS Outlook 2011 on my Mac Book Air and using a Blackberry Bold 9900.
I want my Outlook and Bold to sync with my emails, contacts and calendars seemlessly. They are not. I have had nothing but problems with contacts that are entered in my BB then don't show up in Outlook. Or calendar invitations that are quadrupled in my BB because I added it to Outlook.
Does anyone have an elegant solution so that everything syncs between everything without dropping items or duplication?

Funny (not ha ha)....I've been working a similar situation for a few years now.  I'm an IT guy, and my goal years ago was to sync my calendar and contacts with EVERY device I have (work outlook, home outlook (on 3 different systems) and whatever phone I've got).  Apple had a GREAT answer.... their MobileMe solution.  Was supposed to be great - a single place to sync everything together, BUT it didn't work right.  So much that I ran from it when it would refuse to change things on just about any device.  It would actually put all my contacts back if I attempted to delete them all.  weird....finally dumped it.
    So....round 2.
I started using my work Outlook (exchange) as my 'master', changing that, and letting all other devices be slave.
This worked for awhile, but got taxing to try and update from a single source.  I would archive my data on a regular basis ' just in case'.
Anyway....after multiple device changes, etc.  Here's where I'm at today - and working VERY well:
I sync all my devices with my work Outlook (Exchange).  <---- key in this effort.
All my devices Outlook (exchange) at work, Outlook at home Windows (XP or 7 desktop), Windows laptop,  MacBook Air (running SL, and now Lion), iPod touch, iPad, HP Touchpad and an iPhone. (I was Windows phone before and no difference).   I've used 3 different windows phones, and now 3 different iphones.  I can change data anywhere, on any device, and everything updates within a couple of minutes, since everydevice syncs with the master, the master updates and sends out to all other devices.
Now, for Blackberry, that would depend on if you sync wirelessly through a BES Server.  If you do, again, everything would be the same and wirelessly sync everywhere.
If you sync using the desktop manager - makes it tougher, but still should work fine - it's just there is a time/entry delay because you can only change data you change on your BB with the rest of the network when you sync manually via cable (not the best solution). I did that for a few years, before smartphones hit the market.  I used to used a Palm, or HP iPaq and would sync wired.  What a pain.
This new solution has worked for me for a few years...very happy, and the end device shouldn't matter.
I'd like to hear more detail on what exactly isn't working.
    Cheers.

  • My I phone 5 has stopped updating emails, Facebook and the App Store won't load

My I phone 5 has stopped updating email, Facebook and the App Store. Any thoughts please

Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)

I Cannot configure mailaccount. iPad crashes as soon as i tap email, contacts and calendar in "instellingen"

While sync with Link should work it is buggy and is an afterthought to the whole BB10 system. I recommend using an Outlook.com account, installing the Hotmail connector in Outlook, and then syncing the Outlook.com contacts and calendar to the BB10 device. I say Outlook.com because it uses Exchange Active Sync which is the most reliable sync to the device.
I used to sync with Link as well but the Outlook.com wireless sync really is far better.
As for the original question I don't know why it's not recognized. i see this reported on the forums all the time.

  • My 1st generation i-pad has been acting up lately.  Can't open, safari, email, facebook and other apps, it keeps crashing.  Is there a solution outside of replacing it.

My 1st generation i-pad has been acting up lately.  Can't open: safari, email, facebook, i-book and other apps, it keeps crashing.  Is there a solution outside of replacing it.

    Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
If that didn't help either, try restoring your iPad >  iTunes: Restoring iOS software

  • Default email contacts and calendar settings lost

I have an Ipone 5.  My default email account was playing up, now that mail is working I've lost my old emails, folders, contacts and calender.  helllp please...  I've tried deleting the email account and re-adding the account. but still the same thing happens only has new mail.  This happened once before just can't remember what I did to resolve it.

Have you tried basic troubleshooting steps from the manual?
    Page 34:
"If something is not working right, restarting or resetting iPhone will likely solve the
    problem.
Restart iPhone: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone back on, press and
hold the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears.
Reset iPhone: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the
same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • How can I sync email, contacts and calendar between computers and phones without a mobileme account?

I recently added a macbook pro, ipad and imac to my work accounts and I'd like to be able to sync all of them together.  I believe the POP server that my company is using (small start-up) does not support this.  Basically, if I read email on the laptop, it does not show as read on the imac or my iphone.  If I send a message from one, it does not show up on the other devices.
I figure there has to be a solution - it's driving me crazy basically having email in 3 different locations and none of it matches.
Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

I have found that syncing my contacts then un-syncing them results in my current contacts retaining all the info and picture from Facebook.  I just don't have the Facebook updates, which I'm happier about anyway.

  • Multiple email accounts and calendars on ipad

My wife and I both have iphones and we each have two email accounts for a total of four email addresses altogether.  I just ordered an iPad Air and while I'm waiting for delivery I started thinking about managing this collection of accounts.  She has a hotmail web mail account as well as a work related Microsoft exchange account. I have a Hotmail web mail account as well as an AOL web mail account.
With two independent iphones this works just fine.  While the iPad will technically be "mine" things will get very weird in our household if my wife can't just pick up the ipad and check her email while we are hanging out in the living room and it's just lying there asking to be picked up and used.
What other applications are affected by this issue - calendars and notes and messaging for example?
    Thanks!
    Pete D.

Frankly, sharing an iPad like that would be a disaster in my humble opinion.
Not only calendars, notes, reminders would be co-mingled, but so would bookmarks, iMessages, ...
I strongly recommend against sharing an iPad.

  • I'm running xp and all my facebook pages are blank. [ all white ] i have emailed facebook and they said that it is because i'm using firefox. could this be true? none of my family has this problem.

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start
with Option #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • IPhone 3G Email and Calendar times off by one hour (slow one hour)

My times which I send/receive emails or put appointments on the calendar are 1 hour slow as compared to my computers. I have Mobile Me and Mobile Me (on the computer) and my Outlook emails and calendars match and my current time is correct on all. On the IPhone 3G the current time is correct but the time a email is sent or received and all appointments on the calendar are both off by one hour (one hour slow on the IPhone 3G).
I have set time automatically in "settings" to on, and under "email contacts and calendar" I have time zones disabled. I have tried each possible combination of these settings but cannot get the email/calendar times to match between my computers and the IPhone 3G regardless of how these are set.
I have numerous computers and all times are correct on all. On the IPhone 3G the current time (the clock) is correct, but times in emails and calendar appointments are all off (slow) by exactly one hour no matter what I do.
Anybody else have this issue, and/or know what the solution might be?
    Thanks
    The Omega

I have tried that and it did not work. I am now trying it with everything set to enable DST, and see if that works. Everything, so far, seems to be in sync. The phone would be right for a second when you went into the calendar and then change to be an hour off. Strange. I think the settings I have now (all, Windows, MobileMe, and the IPhone 3G set to DSL on, the same) may be working. Only time will tell.
    Thank you.

  • EMAIL AND CALENDAR ACCOUNT STATUS ISSUE / BUG OS 10.3.1

I found an issue / bug which is really frustrating me!
    Phone:      Blackberry Q10 (SQN100-3)
    OS:           10.3.1.1565
    Mail:          IMAP
    Calendar:  Google Calendar
Last week I updated my BB Q10 to the new officially released OS 10.3.1
Today I noticed that the connection info / status for email accounts and calendars (Settings > Accounts) wasn’t indication correctly.
In the Accounts menu it shows “E-mail” below the name of my email account and “Calendar” below my calendar account to indicate that my Q10 is connected to these accounts. But when I turn airplane-mode on it still shows E-mail and Calendar without being connected to any of these accounts.
Strangely when I turn on my phone while in airplane-mode the Accounts menu shows “E-mail” for my email account and “No Connection” for my calendar account, obviously without being connected to my email account. But when I turn of airplane-mode I receive emails and new appointments but the Accounts status for calendar still shows “No Connection”.
Apparently the account status is not updated while using my phone, it shows the status at startup. This is very annoying and I am unable to check whether I am connected or not to my email and calendar while not in airplane-mode.
In OS 10.2.1 the account status worked correctly and was updated (connected / no connection) while using my phone.
Anybody else with the same problem?
Is this already a known issue / bug?
Anyone an idea how to solve this issue?

I would simply delete both accounts (email and calendar) then readd them.

  • Password reset email being sent to an email address other than my id

    Hi,
I am having a strange issue with password reset emails. I have two email addresses. Hypothetically [email protected] and [email protected] My apple ID uses the login id of [email protected] and has another account associated with it called [email protected] When I request a password reset it is sent to [email protected] I can't find out why it's sending it to this account that I don't see as being linked to my apple ID. At some point in the past I have must have had this email address, [email protected], associated with my account but don't see it anywhere. I can still access this email address and can still retrieve the emails but I will be losing this email address next year... I get all notification emails to my @home address - only the reset emails go to @work.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Serialc

So an example of why this is weird if I was not clear. When I change my apple id phone numer I receive an email on [email protected], when I ask for a password reminder I receive it on [email protected]
I have tried changing my primary username/password to [email protected] and back to [email protected] to try and reset things - no change.
