No pdf option under "Print"

I recently had my PC computer wiped clean of viruses and had to reinstall the software. I reinstalled Photoshop Elements 2.0 but now cannot create a pdf file because the option doesn't come up under "Print," as it did before. Suggestions appreciated.

I would look at using a program that can produce a PDF from a digital image like Irfanview 4.27.

  • PDF is not one of the options under in the print dialogue

When I try to print the document (save) as a pdf it is not one of the available options under print dialogue. I have my printer, fax, and something called Microsoft XPS document writer. I can't find any instructions on how to load it. It is an available option on all my other programs.

You would find that option under File menu > Save As... > Photoshop PDF
Since Photoshop has its' own PDF format, Microsoft's PDF (and Apple's too) option is not there in the Print dialog unlike your other programs.
So there is nothing wrong with your print setup, it's just the way it's done in Photoshop.

  • How do i get print to pdf option in MS programs under printer select screen?

Hello there how do i install the print to PDF option in printer select box within MS programs

  • PDF documents not opening in Mozilla at all, PDF option is not there under the options tab applications

    Hi,
Firefox has automatically been "asking me" if I want to save the pdf document instead of showing them in the browser. I have update 22. I have tried to look for the pdf options under the options>applications settings and it doesn't even show up! Is this because I updated? I updated on July 4th and didn't need a pdf until now and this problem showed up. Before, I did not have this problem. PDFs were opening on the browser and I had that pdf option under the application's list.
So I don't know what to do since I don't even have that option on here. What should I do?

Hi thank you for taking the time to reply.
''"You can change the action for Portable Document Format (PDF) from Preview in Firefox to use another application like the Adobe Reader"''
Yes, I have Adobe Reader installed and that's my preffered option. I have recently and manually uninstalled Adobe reader,Reinstalled it again, restarted my computer, and I am still having the same problem. I cannot see the option to preview the pdfs in firefox using adobe. It either uses the the Firefox pdf reader Zeon? or the other option is to Always ask me to download it to my desktop.
I have attached what I see, maybe you can help me based on that. It seems the plugins work well (Figure 2) but only the pdf plugin for adobe to be previewed in firefox is missing (Figure1).
Also, I attempted to re-initialize the plugin database but it still gives me the same option as always.
''"You can set the pdfjs.disabled pref to true on the about:config page to disable the build-in PDF viewer." ''
No, if I set it to "true" then the pdf option under applications disappears. So I have kept it as false. (Figure 3 shows that it goes missing, not the same as in Figure 1)

  • Copying text from PDF created using print to PDF function in OS X

I use a MacBook Pro with Mac OS X Lion, and Microsoft Word 2008 for Mac and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
For some reason when I use the Print to PDF function to export a PDF of a Word document, then open it with Acrobat Reader or Acrobat Pro 9 and try to select text and copy it then paste it into a word processor (include Word 2008) the resulting text is gibberish. It looks like some sort of encoding issue, but I can't understand that, since it's all happening on the same Mac! I have also tried to do this with Preview as the PDF reader but I still get gibberish.
The issue first started occuring with Snow Leopard, and all software is patched, but no dice.
I've attempted to work around this by using all of the different PDF options under the print dialog, and by saving the doc as a PDF, but I still get the same thing.
I've also tried copying and pasting the text int Pages, then saving it as PDF and trying to ready it .. again, no luck.  I was able to output the file directly from Pages to Preview and save it from there, but it really doesn't seem like this should be necessary, given that the functionality is build into the OS.
Anybody else have experience with this? I have just one user that needs to copy and paste text from the doc, so it's a real pain to have to maintain separate PDF and Word versions.
    Thanks!

    Rishi,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
After reading your post, I tried to duplicate this problem. I opened a PDF, selected a sentence, then copied it to the clipboard. I then opened Pages, selected the blank template, then pasted in the text. It pasted perfectly.
Does this problem happen with all text in a PDF? With different PDFs?

  • Pdf files not printing whole page

pdf files printing just part of page.
have everything updated on my mac and hp printer.
    anyone have a solution?

This is occuring because you might have set page scaling option as "Actual Size". Kindly change this to "Fit" or "Shrink" based on your requirement.
To read more about scaling options, you may read http://helpx.adobe.com/reader/using/print-pdfs.html under Print at a different size.

  • No print to PDF option

Very recently (after the latest security update?), I've lost the option on the print dialogue to print to a PDF. A work-around is to preview and then save the preview as a PDF, but I would like to have the print to PDF option back. I've run Disk Utility to repair disk permissions after already booted up and also booting up from an OS-X install disk. When running repair disk permissions after booting up from my startup disk, it takes very a long time and generates many warnings about SIUD files that have been modified and will not be repaired. Related? Any ideas how to get the PDF drop-down option back?

It happened to me too, apparently spontaneously, a month after installing Leopard, so I doubt it is a printer install issue. AppleCare first said "its a Word problem - call Microsoft", but it happens in all applications including iTunes and iPhoto at least. I called AppleCare back and then they said "its an Adobe problem - we don't support it". They wouldn't even try to tell me if the underlying program is Adobe or Preview or what. (How can they not even try and support their own aps, even with a purchased AppleCare program??) I searched Adobe and they disclaim any support of native ap "save as pdf" functions. Repairing permissions and deleting plists for anything I could find related and updating prebinding in Terminal didn't help. I use the pdf function A LOT at work and the workarounds through other aps is too inconvenient. I also can't afford to reinstall the OS every month. Grrrrrr....

  • Print to PDF missing under Root user

At the school where I work, for some activities we have an occasional need to use Root (System Administrator) rather than normal user accounts. Generally, everything seems to be OK, but we have noticed that when printing from any application the PDF drop-down menu (with the "Save as PDF" option) does not appear. We can still click on Preview and save as a PDF from within Preview, but we are intrigued as to why the feature is not available in the print dialog when logged in as Root. It appears to be the same in both Tiger and Leopard. Does anybody know why? It is not a life-and-death matter, but we are curious as to whether it is a programming "Oops!" or a deliberate move (with perhaps a very good reason behind it).

The machine was set up originally with Tiger and upgraded at various stages, using both Software Update and manually-installed downloads.
As I mentioned earlier, it is not a life-and-death issue. We're happy to put it down to "well, that's just the way it is". Maybe Apple thought that the less you can do under Root, apart from the essential functions, the less chance there would be of someone wanting to go in as Root. Possibly, in the initial stages of designing OS X and getting it to work, the Root user was given only what it actually needed, ie who needs to print to PDF when you're actually only carrying out only administrative tasks and configuring the computer? Then when the "normal" accounts were designed, they were given all the everyday functions that would be needed and used all the time by normal users.
If someone from the OS X design team at Apple has some official knowledge we would be interested, but we're happy to let this become "shrouded in the mists of time".

  • Print to PDF option is not there anymore

I was trying to create a PDF via PRINT.
I was changing the settings and now the option to print to PDF is gone.
any ideas how to get it back?

I'm working on CS5 and when printing, under the Color Management pull down, there is  one for Output.
There is a button on the bottom right "BLEED"
You can set the size there.
I also found my Print to PDF...
    it's under PRINT SETTIINGS.
I could have sworn it was in the lower left, but that's browser.
still don't see how to set bleeds if I Save As.

  • Print to pdf option in report

    I am working on a drill-down report...
So I have a Summary and a Details report...
Now i need a way to select multiple records in the Summary report so i can print the details for those entries...
I don't want to use the default "save as pdf" option...
It would be nice to add a link or a button...
Is there any way I can do this...
    Dhananjay Rele

    Hi Dhananjay,
According to your description, you have a drilldown report where you have different summary report and entries for toggling down to see detail reports. Now you want to select different summary reports, collect detail reports of those selected summary reports
and put them into a PDF file by using a link or button, right?
In Reporting Service, we cannot collect part of the report into a PDF by only using a link or button directly.  What we can do is using parameter to filter multiple records, and using “Go to a report” action and passing this parameter to another report.
Then show the detail information on this report based on different summary. At last export this detail report to a PDF file. We have tested this case in our local environment. Here are steps and screenshots for your reference:
Go to your summary report. Create a parameter for summary (select allow multiple values).
    Create a filter in dataset.
Create a new Textbox, type “View Detail” in it. Right click on this Textbox, select Textbox Properties.
Select Action tab. In select a report from the list, select your detail report. Add the summary parameter in Use these parameters to run the report.
Go your detail report. It supposes to have a parameter for drilldown already, now you just need to select allow multiple values in Parameter Properties.
Also create a filter in your dataset (use the parameter you have created for drilldown).
    Save and preview.
Select summary in dropdown list and click “View Report”.
    Click view Detail.
    Export report into PDF file.

    Hi,
What version of IE are you using.
Have you tried going directly to planning and through the workspace route.
I notice you are on 11.1.1.1, I know many issues were fixed in 11.1.1.2, any thoughts on upgrading, though 11.1.1.3 comes out soon so it is probably best to wait.

We are encountered many unexpected issues of version 11.1.1.1. If we upgrade to version 11.1.1.3 or 11.1.2, what will be the level of resource required for the upgrade?

  • Print PDF with special print options of Canon IR printer

    Hi,
We have a collection (db driven) of PDF documents that we want to send to our network printers. Some document need a hole punch of some other specific printeroptions of a Canon IR printer.
The ideal solutions is a windows application where i could define virtual printers with their print options (pdf and printer specific).
    Eg:
A user creates in a the windows app a virtual printer with name and print options
    - FastPunch: Printer IR5570 with hole punch
    - Fast: Printer IR5570
    - Color: IR C4080
    - ColorBooklet: IR C4080 with booklet options
When the app starts its batch it will look at de db and find rows with an PDF and the name of a virtual printer. The documents are printed with specific printer preferences.
Does someone has experience with such an solution? Tips?
Someone wants to make this in vb.net (or c#)? What cost?
    gtx, Pierre

I have downloaded the Acrobat SDK but I haven't really waded through the documentation or samples yet. I've only been working on this project for about 3 days now and not full time. This isn't the highest priority at work. I've worked a bit with the adobe reader control and that looks like it has some promise.
    I have two significant problems:
    1) I don't want the user to see any windows appear other than my console application. That way I have it working right now, Acrobat is required and appears minimized while the file is spooled and then is closed after spooling completes. Not so horrible but I'd like to get away from it if possible. To print the file right now I'm using the startprocess module or something (new version of shell I think). I'm starting the pdf with the verb "Printto" and that tells Acrobat to print to a printer that I specify.
2)Biggest problem. I have no reliable way to change the number of copies or any other print settings. I am not willing to write a program that spools a single copy multiple times just to get multiple copies. Currently my program uses rundll to open a printer preferences dialog, and SendKeys to modify the print settings. This means that the computer cannot be used while automated printing is occurring.
Right now the program's only saving grace is that it allows the user to be ignorant of the job settings so that all the user has to do is indicate an item number and quantity and walk away (hoping nothing changes the focus and derails SendKeys - but we know that kind of thing never happens in XP :P )
