No photos in media browser in Pages

Since I updated my iPhoto software to 1.0 on my Mac Book Air (OX S Yosemite), my photos are no longer in my media browser in Pages.  How do I transfer my iPhoto Library to the media browser so I can drag them into documents?

The media browser in Pages '09 is now inoperable after the 10.10.3 update with Photos. There is an iLifeMediaBrowser plugin that Pages 09 used, that was stepped on by the Photos update, and now Pages '09 fails to find a compatible version of the preceding plugin, and fails to show any media content.
Although the Photos application automatically transferred your iPhoto/Aperture libaries, it does not mean that these applications were removed, or cannot be run alongside Pages '09. I just launched iPhoto, and dragged/dropped a photo onto Pages '09 without issue. Copy/paste is supported too. Pages '09 also supports drag/drop of images from the Finder, or from its Insert > Choose… menu item.

  • Can't see any photos in media browser in other apps

I have my iPhoto library on an external drive due to its size as well as multiple user profiles on this box. No problem when I open iPhoto everything shows up all nice and organized, but if I'm working in another app that uses the media browser to allow quick access to photos (iMovie, Keynote, etc., or iTunes for syncing purposes) there is nothing. Any thoughts? Is there a way to tell the media browser/inspector where my iPhoto library is located so I can see my pics?

    Terence,
Thanks for the kind response. Just checked, and the external drive is formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). As further specific, both the library [package] and the image files themselves are stored on this external driver. One other twist: the iPhoto library is set up as a 'referenced' library (that is, I have UNchecked 'Copy items to the iPhoto Library' in iPhoto>Preferences>Advanced). Not sure if this is complicating things.
Things work quite well in iPhoto itself. I have no issues accessing or managing photos in iPhoto. They simply don't appear anywhere else in OSX (e.g. the media browser, Front Row, or iTunes).
    Any other troubleshooting suggestions?
    Cheers,
    Mitch

  • Media browser in pages

Hi, I have my iPhoto library on an external firewire drive. When I am in Pages 08 and try to access images through the media browser, it tells me there are images in the library, but says I do not have permission to move them into a document. The thumbnails show up as '! marks'. Any ideas?
    thanks

If anyone cares (besides me) I figured it out! If you have multiple iPhoto libraries and you use iPhoto Library Manager, make sure you have the correct library selected within the IPLM app.

  • Slow access of photos from Media Browser

I have a computer with a small iPhoto library. Under 800 photos. iPhoto launches quickly, and effortlessly. iWeb launches easily, but when I try to access the Photos from the Media brownser...things bog down. The spinning ball goes for a couple minutes, before showing me the photos, and regaining control of iWeb. This slowness happens also from Garage Band (when accesing photos via the Media brownser). I rebuilt my iPhoto library database, but this didn't help. Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Thanks John and Jim,
Here's an update. I did not have iPhoto opened when launching iWeb. And the iMac Intel 20" has 1gig RAM.
I first rebuilt the database in iPhoto...no help. I called applecare, and then first had me rebuilt the database (no help again). Then we created a new user, and the new user worked fine...no sluggishness in Media Browser. So we went back to the ailing user and removed the iPhoto prefs (no help)....then we removed ALL prefs (no help)...then they had me remove the entire user Library....and still no help. At this point, the 2nd level tech support said they didn't know the answer yet...and they are referring it to Engineering...and I should hear back in 2-3 days. I'm guessing they will have me backup, reformat, and reinstall from scratch...but we'll see.
    Thanks for your interest...

  • Keynote 09 crashing when in photos in media browser

Hey guys. Got a really weird one here I'd love your help with.
Just started using Keynote 09 in anger, but it's started crashing on me whenever i go into the 'photos' section of the media browser. It seems to be looking for photos for a few seconds, then a message comes up saying Keynote has encountered an exception and should be restarted. I do this, but the media browser is still open, and it immediately crashes again.
I'm running the latest version of Keynote and 10.6, I've fixed my disk permissions, I've got plenty of disk space. Music and movies in the media browser both seem to work fine. Also Keynote 08 seems not to crash at all in browsing photos in the media browser.
    Weird, huh?
Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be going wrong?
    Thanks!

Actually - technically all of these clips are in the project. See I have a lot of unlogged clips in my project. I'm having another editor log the clips on a different computer, then I'm bringing the logged clips back into the project, and then just double checking the file count of the original folder and the file count of the new folder to see that they match up.
Does this shed any more light? The fact it's not consistent is what is weird. Is it possible maybe the clips that are already in a project and in a sequence somewhere don't get imported?
Any thoughts on how I can make the process smoother given the work flow? Thanks.

  • Aperture has come back to the Media Browser in Pages and Keynote

Lokk for the iWork Software update. Keynote 6.2, Pages 5.2

    I wondered why I got a greenie
My Macs are all communcating well over my LAN, and I choose and export the minimal images I ever need from my Alpha Aperture Library from the nMP to a folder on my old MP for use in documents created in Pages.
I am needing to address printing from the nMP.  Currently it is positioned fartherest (more than the length of the USB cable) from the printer in my office, and I photo print awkwardly with my old MP, having to transfer from that Aperture Library connected to the nMP.  Network printing has not automatically provided the features I am accustomed to using with photo printing.  Primary printer is an Epson Stylus Photo R1900.
    I transition some things slowly

  • Added photo to iphoto but doesn't show up in media browser?

I have added some photos to an event in iphoto...then they do not show in media browser in pages...any clue why...has worked quite a few times before

The sync is 2 way. If you created items in the calendar on the phone, however, BEFORE you set up the sync relationship, those items are stored in the calendar on the phone only.
Go into the calendar and tap the "Calendars" button in the upper left. You will see lists of all the calendars. On my iPhone are those that live exclusively on the phone. You will also see From My Mac (or something similar) as well as any that are synced with Exchange accounts, iCloud, etc.
Now go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Scroll down to Calendars and make sure the Default Calendar is set to the correct calendar.  I don't believe there is any easy way to move all your entries from the local calendar to the one that syncs with iCal, but you can go into each entry and specify which calendar it belongs to.

  • Media browser has no photos in 4.3

Did the new Photos app break the media browser in Pages 4.3? I no longer see any photos, only Photo Booth is listed in the Photos tab. I tried rebooting my system, but nothing appears. Anyone else experiencing this?

  • Can't drag folders in Media Browser

It says everywhere (in the manuals) that if you open Media Browser (in Pages, KeyNote etc), you can drag in it from the finder your folders of images or sounds or movies. I try to do it, but when I click the folder in the finder, Media Browser disappears... Anybody can kindly help? MTIA

    Many thanks for yur help.
But if this is the case, somebody should at least correct the Help files where everybody can read:
*To add another folder to the Media Browser, do any of the following:*
To add a folder containing audio files, click Audio in the Media Browser, and then +drag the folder you want from the Finder to the Media Browser+.
To add a folder containing photos, click Photos in the Media Browser, and then +drag the folder you want from the Finder to the Media Browser+.
To add a folder containing movies, click Movies in the Media Browser, and then +drag the folder you want from the Finder to the Media Browser+.
Or possibly we +did NOT pay+ for the Help Files?

  • Iphoto in pages/keynote/iweb media browser

Hi, I recently deleted and created a new iphoto library. After doing so, iweb, Pages, and Keynote is giving the endless spinning beach ball when I try to access the "photo" portion of the media browser. iDVD and iMovie continues to work fine.
All software have been updated. I've already repaired permissions, trashed the aforementioned programs com.apple.~plists. I've posted this in the iPhoto forum because I believe my problem is related to the deletion/creation of the iphoto library. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

After posting, I did a little more searching and found an answer. It sounds strange but it seems that by having certain types of movies in the Movie folder will cause the media browser to crash. When I deleted my old iPhoto library, I moved my digicam movie files from iphoto to my Movie folder, and apparently that was the culprit.

  • Media Browser in iWeb not showing Photos

    Hi
I have read through many of the threads on here from people who seem to have the same problem and tried many of the suggestions, but still do not seem to have improved matters.
I have the message saying that I need to open iPhoto 2 or later. I am running iPhoto 6 and iWeb 1.1.2. I have an iBook G4 with 1GB Ram.
I know it is nothing to do with the little dot and I have also tried deleting various preference files.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks

I am having the same problem in Pages 2, Keynote 3, iWeb, iDVD, iMovie ....etc.
iTunes and iMovie's material will show in the Media Browser in all the above apps. But iPhoto will not. If I move the iPhoto Library to my desktop and open iPhoto it will ask me to build a new library. I do, and in all the above apps I can see iPhoto and the library tree. If I grad some of the picture in the Originals folder on my desktop and put it into the new iPhoto library, it imports them just fine and then I open Pages 2 (Media Browser and there is the iPhoto tree.
Sounds like a solution right? Nope!
When I got back and import the rest of the photos from the Original folder on my desktop the Media Browser "loses" or drops the tree and I am left with the Message, "Open iPhoto 2......"
I then deleted the new iPhoto library, keeping my Originals on the desktop and created yet another blank library, opened Pages 2 or Keynote 3 and again I can see the iPhoto tree.
I went to my desktop and put one folder at a time into the new library via iPhoto, then open up Pages 2 (Media Browser) and I can see the tree. YEAH! Then I went an put another folder from the desktop into iPhoto and the tree in Media Browser goes away.
I have found no reason or particular file to be causing this. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is this a Media Broswer error or iPhoto? iWeb?
    Notes:
I ran the test each time by completely opening and closing Pages and iPhoto. I am running iPhoto 6.0.6 and Pages 2.0.2

  • Most aperture photos not showing in media browser

I have Aperture 1.5 and I can view all of my albums from the media browser, but when I click on an album, most of the thumbnails are exclamation points and they wont drag into any pages documents. Some photos in the albums show up and they go into my documents just fine.
I have gone into aperture and selected ALL 13,508 photos and forced thumbnail regeneration, but I am still having the same problem.

  • How do I access photos via the Media browser in iPhoto '08?

I have used Pages several times before for an in-house newsletter--with good success. My last newsletter was done in the version of Pages contained in iWork '06 and with photos contained in iPhoto library from iLife '06. Now I am using the version of Pages from iWork '08 and photos from my iPhoto library in iLife '08. When I am in Pages and open the Media Browser, I can see all the photos in various Events. How do I select/choose a particular photo within an Event and drag it to an image placeholder in my Pages document?

My Media Browser shows Events or Images. See below and see if yours is the same:

  • No photos in the Media Browser (all iWork software)

In the new iWork the media browser keeps telling me that I have no pictures in my iPhoto library... any idea to solve this?

I just did a test in the Guest account with a test library and it seems that the problem can be caused by the file name for the photo file, including the extension.   If the file is named iPhoto Library.photolibrary, Pages shows the photos.  If it is called Aperture Library.aplibrary then Pages can't find the photos.
When I renamed an Aperture file, Aperture then created a blank library when I opened it.  I was able to open the renamed library in Aperture by choosing Switch to Other Library and then opening the renamed one.
I haven't tested this with the Aperture library full of photos because changing the name might cause other unexpected problems and I don't want to take the risk.
This seems to be a bug that Apple could fix fairly easily in an update so I'll wait for the fix.
    Hope this helps.
