No photos on iDVD

I open my iDVD, I press Multimedia button and then when I click on Photos I can't see any of my iPhoto pictures that I could see before.
Thank's for your help

Hi Sue,
I tried to do all you told me but It doesn't work. I did:
Delete -->/Users/YourName**/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iDVD.plist
Delete -->/Users/YourName**/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iPhoto.plist
Then:
I Emptied the trash and I ran a permission repair using the Disk Utility
and I Shutdown iPhoto, I restarted it again whilst holding down the CMD (⌘) and OPT (⌥) keys to Rebuild the iPhoto Library.
So far it's ok
Finally I run iDVD and nothing appears in Multimedia Photos???
Thank you for helping me again

  • Photos on iDVD fro TV

I'd like to know how to put photos on iDVD so I can play them on regular DVD players and view on TV. I've never done this, and am confused by all the options and variables I've been told. I'd just like the simplest of instructions for the first time, learn that and then go on to sub-catorgorizing and attaching sound bites and notarizing and all that stuff.
I'd appreciate any help/advice. I'm not a computer whiz, but I'm not stupid - just want to start out simple. Thanks - Mike

The most straight forward way is to use the Slideshow feature of iDVD.
Open iDVD, start a new project, select the theme you like.
Click the slideshow button along the bottom of the iDVD screen. You get an icon/folder called "My Slideshow". You can change the name simply be clicking the name, then click again to highlight it for editing.
Double click the icon/folder to open the slide show. You can now add your photos at this point. You are limited to 99 photos per slideshow. With the customize tray open (bottom left button) select the media tab to see what you have in iPhoto and can pick from there.
Alternatively, you can drag and drop photos or folders of photos into the drop zone of iDVD (your photos do not have to come out of iPhoto).
Your photos appear in the window. You can rearrange them if needed simply by grabbing any and sliding them into the position you want.
Now pick the options at the bottom like if you want the slide show to loop, if you want to add music, if you want transistions between photos, and how long you want each photo to be on the screen.
That't it. Burn the DVD and throw it into a player and see how it looks. You can also add multiple slideshows to a DVD so you can have a bunch slide shows of 99 photos each if you want.
One final thing, in the iDVD preferences, if you look under the slideshow tap, you will see that it probably already has the scale photos to TV safe area. This means photos are shown smaller with a border around them to make sure none of your photos get cut off on any TV. But this is a fairly conservative resizing, so many TVs may show the whole photos without cutting much off if you don't use this option. So if you find the photos are too small, turn this off and see if they show up ok on your TV at full screen.
    Best of luck,
    Patrick
p.s. I wrote the above while stepping through iDVD version 4. Earlier versions may work differently.

  • Photos on iDVD

If I make Diashow of my photos with iDVD, i cannot see them on the whole screen as in iPhoto and there is no possibility for the Ken Burns Effekt. If i send the pictures directly from my canon camera, I have Full HD Quality. If I make this with iDVD the quality is less. Is there any solution?

if you want KB effect you must do that within iphoto slideshow before exporting to either desktop for import into idvd, or sharing direct to idvd from iphoto.
idvd does not burn HD. It's SD --standard definition 720x480, so yes quality will not be the same.

  • How do you add captions to photos in iDVD slideshows?

Is there a way to add captions to photos once you've put them into slideshows on iDVD? Or, if not, is there another way to add captions to them, though another apple application such as iPhoto? I haven't been able to figure out how to make captions for photos in iPhoto slideshows either. Please help!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. if you're creating the slideshow from stills in iDVD use the Settings button at the bottom to bright up the pane where you can add titles and comments. The downside of that is every photo will automatically have it's file name or title entered. If you don't want that then while you're in iPhoto use the Photos->Batch Change->Title->None option before you import into iDVD. Then none of them will have the titles entered and you can add them to just those that you want. Or you can add them while in iPhoto before importing.

I am dropping a folder of photos in the iDVD window to create a slideshow with a Final Cut Pro movie. It has worked fine before but now with this project I am getting numerous blank photos mixed in with the slides.
Anyone know why this is happening?

  • Installed iLife 11 and iPhoto is damaged or corrupted.  I see my photos in iDVD media, though.

Cannot open iPhoto.  Message says iPhoto is damaged or corrupted.  This happened after I installed iLife 11 and after I used iDVD to burn slideshows.  I do see thumbnails of my photos in the iDVD media.  How do I get my iPhoto and iPhoto library back?

    Reinstall iPhoto.
    - after backing up, of course.
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
    2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
*Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

  • Burn Photos to IDVD

I would like to burn my photos on IPhoto to a DVD. I have 293 pics, 8 small movies totaling 2.8GB. It's not alot, but i don't know how to do it. I dont even know where to start. I just want to use the DVD as a archive, just as i would if i was burning a few pics to a CD so i could use it later if accidently delete the pics. Can this be done in IDVD? Or do I need to burn the CD's? Thanks, dan

Because you are not looking to view the photos and movies on a DVD player, I don't think that this is an iDVD question. You can accomplish your goal by burning your files to a DVD. (If you were dealing with photos alone, a CD would work.)
This is from Mac Help: _Burning a CD or DVD_. These are the basic instructions. Refer to the entire section in Help for further details.
Insert a blank disc into the optical drive of your computer.
If you see a dialog, you can choose an action from the pop-up menu and select "Make this action the default" if you want the same thing to happen every time you insert a blank disc.
The disc appears on your desktop.
Double-click the disc to open it, and drag the files and folders you want on it to its window.
The Finder places aliases to the files in the disc's window. The original files are not moved or deleted.
Arrange and rename the files exactly as you want them.
When burning the disc, the Finder gives the items on the disc the same names and locations as the aliases in the disc window. After the disc is burned, you cannot change them.
Choose File > Burn Disc, and follow the instructions.
The files that the aliases point to are burned to the disc. In addition, if any folder you copied contains aliases, the original files for those aliases are burned to the disc as well.
    I hope this helps.

  • Retrieve photos off iDVD backup??

I backed up our family photo album from iPhoto to iDVD using the send to DVD command. Where are the photos stored?? Only the slideshow will play the photos back. The DVD desktop has 2 folders VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS
I have seen other IDID backups that contain a jpeg folder with the photos.
How do I retrieve the photos??
    Thanks ANYONE!!

It sounds like you did this: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=165534 Exporting a slideshow to iDVD
This DOESN'T create an archive on the DVD.

  • Can I rotate photos in iDVD?

I know I could just delete the unrotated photos and reload them back in but I'm working with around a thousand photos, some of which are rotated. Is there any hope?

My digital camera is set to auto-rotate.
When I use other people's images that don't do that, I use Photoshop Elements to manually rotate and save. Then they come into iDVD fine. Not sure if there's a way to automate that process...

  • Can't drag photos into iDVD

I've followed all of the instructions but none of my photos (jpeg) will stay in the drop zone where it says "drag photos here" . I can drag them there but then they just pop back over...HELP I'm getting really frustrated.

Also watch the cursor -- when you have an image file in the right format (jpeg should be fine; could try converting to tiff) and drag it to the drop zone, the cursor should change and show a "plus" sign.

  • How do I edit to view most if not all of my original photo in idvd??

idvd is cropping my images so that only a very small portion is showing.  I have already resized to the size suggested by idvd and still encounter the same issue.  Please help.

Where is this happening?  In a menu's drop zone on when you play the slideshow?  If it's the latter  go to the iDVD's advanced preference pane and check the box titled "Always scale slides to TV safe area".
    That will get you  this:

  • IPhoto settings to import photos to iDVD & play on widescreen TV???

Thanks so much for everyone's help so far. I've learned so much. I am going to try to burn a DVD to play on a 60" widescreen Sony TV. Do I prepare that in iPhoto on the 4:3 TV/iDVD setting, current display or the 16:9 widescreen aspect? I would think the widescreen ratio to show on a widescreen TV, but I'm wondering if I don't need to do it on the iDVD setting since I will be importing it into iDVD? A special thanks to Toad for all your help!

    Gary:
Crop them to the 16:9 ratio. That will make them fit into iDVD's Safe TV area on the widescreen. When shown on a regular screen there will be the black bars at top and bottom.

  • Photos not appearing on iPhoto when uploading to iDVD, facebook, yahoo

When I try to put photos on iDVD, Facebook and Yahoo mail, the iphoto continually searches for thumbnails. I have no problem with imovie. The only way I can move photos is if I send them to the desktop. I have searched for the correct settings to trash in my library/preferences, but it does not exist. Memory is getting small, but there seems to be no problem with video on iMovie.

    Memory is getting small
By memory do you mean free disk space? How much free space do you have? It's strongly recommended that a minimum of 10GB free space be maintained (20 GB if you use iDVD a lot) for optimal system and application performance.
By searching for thumbnails can you explain further? Do you get a message?
