No photos on nano

When I go into preferences on iTunes and select the folder for photos I want on my nano, it says 0 pictures in folder, but on iPhoto, the pictures are there. HELP!!

I've got my photo issue solved, not sure exactly what did it, but didn't get the very latest version of iPhoto because (unless I'm mistaken) I'd need to get iLife to do so.
At least one of my problems was that I could see that the "photos" were on the Nano, but I couldn't view them. It turned out that when I tried to pull photos out of iPhoto it was making an alias of the photo and sending that (in fact, I believe there was even a thumbnail included, which really had me fooled into thinking that the real photo was there). Anyway, I ended up looking up the info for a pic and it showed the pic as an alias for the actual jpeg file. So I went into the actual file where my photos are stored, pulled out the pics I wanted, put them into a file on my desktop and told iTunes to use those to update my Nano. That worked!
I believe that iTunes won't update the Nano from iPhoto unless you use the very latest version of iPhoto.

  • Can't add photos to nano

I just got my black 4gig a couple hours ago and I love it, I got music added to it all right but I have 27 MB left and I can't add photos to it.
I get through all the steps and select about 6 photos to add (not full size) but then I get an error message saying my iPod cannot be updated (error -208). I installed the software and did iPod update and I have iPhoto 4.0.3
    Any suggestions please?

Please be patient - I am not trying to mess you up.
    From the nano specs online:
    "Mac system requirements:
Mac OS X v10.3.4 or later"
Your signature says your running OS X 10.0.x, so you might need to upgrade your OS (key word MIGHT).
From the nano manual (see link below):
"You can download photos from a folder on your hard disk. If you have a Mac and iPhoto 4.0.3 or later, you can download iPhoto albums automatically. " - You should be OK on your iPhoto version from the version you said you are currently running.
Try dragging a couple of photos from your iPhoto library to a folder on your computer. Then try to add the photos to your iPod with the alternative method of selecting photos using the 'From Folder' option and use the folder/photos you have set aside.
See if you can then add them this way or get the same error.

  • Photos on Nano - Can I get them back to my computer?

I'll try to be brief. I recently re-installed the operating sys on my macbook. Before I did so I backed up everything (at least I thought I did). My back-up did not contain all of my photos. I thought they were gone, but they are still on my nano. Question is can I get them back? I tunes is now asking me to re-synch my nano (will replace all existing music and phots on the nano with what is on the computer). That's fine on the music end, all of that was backed up and restored. But I can't resynch with the photos or I'll loose them. So how, if it is possible can I get the photos on my nano back to the computer?
    Thanks!

  • Can't get photos on nano

I have followed the instructions to the letter and have plenty of space on my nano--1.2 gigs. I have set up itunes to automatically upload a picture directory in iphoto. Itunes is updating tunes but not photos. What gives?

  • How to view photos on Nano

I have a photo saved on my Nano but I can't seem to view the photo. All I can get to is the slideshow preferences. Help!

    Hello,
I've been posting this answer a few times as nobody so far had answered and I finally figured this out! Hope it will work for you as it did for me. After you synch'd the pictures you wanted to import to your Nano, go in your itunes, go to 'file' on the menu bar then select 'update x' x being the name you gave to your Nano/ipod. Then disconnect the Nano and check the photos file on it. Yous should now see your albums or your pictures along with 'slideshow settings'.

  • Unreasonable space requirements for syncing photos to nano...

I have a 1st generation 4GB nano, with up to date firmware (version 1.3.1, Mac formatted). I'm using iTunes version 7.6 (29) and having trouble syncing photos (from iPhoto) to my nano.
I have configured iTunes to sync photos from only one, relatively small set, and have not turned on the full resolution copies. If I leave a bunch of space free on my ipod (over 100 MBs) then my photos sync fine. However, when there is less space free, but still seemingly enough space to fit the photos, iTunes tells me "No photos were copied to the iPod... because there is not enough free space on the iPod to hold your photos and albums."
For example, I was able to successfully sync my photo set such that I had 3.57GB in Audio, 726.2 KB for Photos, 48 MB for Other (what is "Other", btw?) and 143.4 MB of free space. However, I am not able to sync any photos when I have 3.68 GB in Audio, 47.9 MB in Other and 34.3 MB in free space.
What I don't understand is if the photos only take up 726.2 KB, iTunes should be able to sync them to the iPod when there's still 34.3 MB of free space left.

    And then there were four...
This is rather frustrating. Not that I think it will do any good, but here's what I sent using iTunes' "Feedback" option since there is no way, that I have found, to directly ask the iTunes technicians a technical question:
There is no place to directly ask you (the iTunes technicians) for support about iTunes except in the forums. My question is already in the forums and already has three people with the same problem and no answer. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6240563&#6240563
Vista Ultimate x64, HP Pavilion TX1000 CTO, 2GB RAM, AMD Turion 64x2.
    iTunes version 7.6.1.9
Not all photos sync to the ipod, it doesn't say why or what to do, they are *.jpg files. Some that do sync end up looking distorted with color bars and other odd artifacts, originals remain pristine. Sometimes when syncing photos, I get a blue screen of death.
I know you don't respond to these comments, but at least have someone post a fix on the forum there, or tell me to whom I can send comments for official help with specific and real issues instead of the very general user guides, "support documents" and "blind leading the blind" forums.

  • Trouble syncing photos to Nano

Help! I can't get photos loaded from my PC to my new Nano. When I'm in iTunes, I sync the photos from the folder. The computer says the photos are optimizing, then the header says "updating iPod." After that it seems like it's complete, but in the corner, it still says 0 Photos and they aren't on my iPod. If anyone can help me I'd appreciate it!!

  • Dload photos to nano

    Hey Guys, I need help!!!!
I've just got an Ipod Nano for Xmas but I'm unable to load photo into it. I've followed step by step the instructions that I've found in the manual and in the forum but I get always the same error message that says: "I can't update the iPod 'iPod vittor'. I can't read or write on the disk"
Obviously I've got tons of space and tried also with adobe photoshop.
Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong?

I tried that last night and got to within two songs of loading everything I wanted when I got the error. It was already 1:00am though so I didn't pursue it any farther.
Now my problem is that I've loaded some contacts and calendars to see how they look on the iPod Nano and now, even when I uncheck the sync for these, they are still on the iPod and I can't get them off.
I'm going to reset the iPod this evening and try from scratch again. That's a good point though (about the block of free memory).

  • Possible to upload high res photos on nano 7?

I made a map of the city where I live, so I could put it on my iPod nano 7th generation. I know the screen wouldn't be big enough, but since there is a pinch to zoom option, I thought it wouldn't matter. But when I upload the photo to the iPod, it's resolution is automatically lowered a lot by iTunes (or the iPod?), and I am only able to zoom in a bit. Not enough. I can't read the street names. The picture is a .jpg. Any advice?

When the photo is synced to the iPod, iTunes creates an iPod optimized thumbnail of the original that is formatted for better viewing on the Nano's smaller LCD display.
There is no way around this.

  • Disk space with Photos on Nano 3G

If I sync a folder of 39.7MB of pictures...it becomes 566MB on the Nano. If I sync 300MB of photos it becomes 566MB.
    Shouldn't 39.7MB = 39.7MB?
    ...300MB = 300MB?
Anyone know why this is? Solution?

I don't have a solution but I am running into the same problem.
I found this interesting, on my 1g nano, 2,000 photos takes up about 100 megs of space on the iPod or about 2.5% of my 4 gig iPod. However, on my new 3g nano, the same 2,000 photos takes up about 2 gigs of space which is about a 25% of my 8 gig iPod. That is way too much space to be dedicating for photos. I also notice that the different photo sizes are coming from the same "iPod Photo Cache" in my iPhoto Library.
It seems odd that the new nano creates 1 meg files per photo - the screen is only 320x240. It looks like Apple needs to tweak its software a bit to prevent this waste of space.

  • Deleting photos from Nano

My sister got a nano and as she doesn't have a pc a friend loaded her pics and music. She now wants to delete some photos to free up space but I can't work out how to do it. Have just downloaded latest version of itunes, is there something on there that will allow me delete?

Weird how I show up as a first time user, I have a
mini myself and have been using the support forums
    for months!
It still shows you've been here since May. Just all of your old posts were deleted and it messed up your post count when we changed to this new system. Happened to everyone

  • Photos on Nano - Auto Compress or Use Photoshop?

Do I need to resize the photos before they go onto the nano? Or does iTunes shrink 'em for me? I don't want to eat up too much HD space with 5 megapixel images and I don't want to edit them down if I don't have too...
    TIA

I loaded some Photoshop files on and I am very pleased with the results. I used the built in iTunes compression. I'm surprised how good these photos look even at the small size they are very viewable.

I recently lost a laptop and camera that had family photos. The only device where I had these particular photos downloaded was my ipod Nano. Is there anyway to move these photos from the nano to my macbook? Is there a syncing issue?
