No PhotoStream option in iPhoto 9.4.3

I have iPhoto 9.4.3 on my Macbook Pro and am trying to link my devices using iCloud.  The set up instructions say to "click the Photo Stream icon in the left column" but it isn't there. Would someone please tell me where to find it?

You need to setup Photo Stream in the System preferences:
and in iPhoto's Photo Stream preference pane:
It will then show up in the source (left hand) pane of iPhoto:

I use iphoto 11.n my photostream is activated n it shows its uploading but nothing come on my cloud.

I had to go to icloud online and click on my profile and advanced options then photostream came up. When you get to 1000 photos it stops uploading so you have to erase and resync to start the process again

  • Photo sharing - I used to love the Photo Gallery option in IPhoto.

Photo sharing - I used to love the Photo Gallery option in IPhoto. That feature was dropped. I find PhotoStream on the iPhone but what to do from my desktop/laptop? I don't like to organize photos on my phone.

If you have the proper software PhotoStream is available on all of your devices

  • Why is the Photostream option on my icloud (on my MacBookPro) not allowing me to check the box?

When I click into the icloud on my MacBookPro, All the options are blackended, allowing me to place a check mark next to each option. The Photostream option is not blacked out, so I cannot check it. I also recently upgraded to the OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2) Any suggestions for help? Thanks!

I'm not aware of any issues with iPhoto 9, it appears to work just fine for me.
If you are making a judgement from what you see in these communities, don't forget that you aren't seeing a balanced review of any product, the communities here are like doctors waiting rooms were the only people there are ill, you wouldn't conclude the human race was sick because a visit to the doctors.

  • Is there a photobook ordering option in iPhoto '11 vers. 9.1.5 (615)?

A friend of mine made a photobook with her Mac. I'd like to do the same. The instructions I've found on the web don't match the menu items in my iMac (vers. 10.7.3). Anybody know what I should do?
    Matthew

    Your question makes not sense
    Is it
Is there a photobook ordering option in iPhoto '11 vers. 9.1.5 (615)?
    Then the answer is yes
AS to what your friend did - with no information no one can tell you if you can do the same
and as to ordering with a different version (since 9.1.5 does not run under OS X 10.7.3 which you say you have) then no one can answer unless you tell us wha tyou actually have
And not that there are 5 or 6 versions of Iphoto that run under OS X 10.7.3 so once again for an answer you actually have to provide information
So the answer to your headline question is yes and to your continued rambleing is who knows - not enough information to answer

  • I'm a brand new Mac user. I want to send photos from Iphoto to my local store for printing, like I can do in Picasa. I can't find that option in Iphoto.

I'm a brand new Mac user. I want to send photos from Iphoto to my local store for printing, like I can do in Picasa. I can't find that option in Iphoto. I do not want to order them through Itunes.

I have not idea how you do it with Picasa but with iPhoto you either export the photos to a desktop folder and upload from there or burns that folder to CD - or from the upload window use the media browser in the lower left hand corner of the upload windows - media ==> photos ==> iPhoto

  • TS3989 When I try to add photos from PhotoStream into my iPhoto Library a message appears asking to view the photo in the library (as if it were already imported).  When I click View it brings me to my iPhoto library but the photo(s) are not there?

Hopefully someone can help me with my question.  When I try to add photos from PhotoStream into my iPhoto Library a message appears asking to view the photo in the library (as if it were already imported).  When I click View it brings me to my iPhoto library but the photo(s) are not there?

When I try to add photos from PhotoStream into my iPhoto Library a message appears asking to view the photo in the library (as if it were already imported).
How exacly are you trying to import from the Photo Stream? Dragging from the stream to the events? Ctrl-clicking or right clicking?
If "Show in Library" does not show the event, then your iPhoto Library may need repairing or rebuilding;  try to run the iPhoto Library First Aid Tools, if you have not already done so. See this post by Old Toad on how to do it:    Rebuild iPhoto Library Version 11:

  • Photo size options fails to work when selecting mail option in iphoto

photos being sent via the mail option in iphoto seem to be set at a default of 130kb!! Regardless of which of the sizing options I select. I have taken to moving the photos to the desktop then putting them in a folder and attaching to the email as a way of getting around this problem. If I do the above without putting the jpeg into a folder it also gets reduced automatically to 130kb. I have then had problems with people receiving the photos sent in an attached folder not being able to open them. Given that the iphoto/mail option in all previous OSX worked fine what do I have to do to get the old functionality back?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
You also need to check the size option in the bottom right corner of the New Mail Message window:

  • Will Apple add the "Batch Change" option from iPhotos into Photos?

Will Apple add the "Batch Change" option from iPhotos into Photos?  It appears to be a major complaint across the board and a severe limitation.  I see complaints about this all through the forum.  Apple?

We have no idea.  But to help them make that decision tell Apple what additional features you want in Photos via both http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html and http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html  since they don't have a feedback page for Photos as yet.

  • How do you sort your Photostream Events in iPhoto?

I have my photostream photos automatically imported to  iPhoto on my iMac - so I have lots of "events" with names like March 2013 photostream or July 2014 photostream. In each of these events, there are often a whole group of photos that belong together - like a birthday party. There are also some "one off" photos that just one or two shots of something I wanted to photograph (like a couple of pictures of a rainbow, or a picture of a recipe that I like to have on hand so that I can shop for ingredients). I am not sure how these are supposed to be handled. I can leave them all in photostream and add key words to the photos so that I can search for them perhaps (but then I have to manage a lot of key words. I cannot just add a key word "Birthday Party" since I attend many birthday parties. I would have to use a key work like "Bob's 30th birthday party" unless I wasted my search to turn up every picture ever taken at any birthday party!) i can create an event and call it "Bob's 30th birthday party. That seems to work ok - although I'm not sure if I should be doing this. As for the other photos, like the two of the rainbow and the one of the recipe, I don't know what to do with them. I can leave them in photostream with keywords. I can create an entire event called "Recipes" although the range of dates on such a folder might be quite wide since I am always saving recipes, which  means that when my events are sorted by date, my new recipes will appear in an early event along with the very first recipe I ever took a photo of!
I would love to know how others arrange their events . Do you ever create an event based upon a subject (My Cat Missy) even if the photos span a good deal of time? Or do you leave Missy's photos spread over many events depending upon what date you snapped the photo??? Have you ever completely emptied out a monthly photostream event (for example, let's say all your photostream photos for the month were taken at one wedding, so you moved them all into a single event called "Kate's Wedding."
See what I mean? Back in the windows days, when admittedly, I took fewer photos, I would create a folder for each big photo taking event (christmas, weddings, birthdays, a lovely walk in the park) and I would create just one folder with the year "Photos from 2008" to put in all the ones and twos photos that don't really belong with anything else. I also had a single folder with pictures of my cats and one that had photos of recipes. I added to these photos anytime I had a picture of my cat or a recipe to upload.
What does everyone recommend? Sorry for being so long winded. I cannot find any info on "how to sort or manage monthly photostream event photos" so perhaps I am the only one with this issue.

    1. There is no right answer. There is no "should". There is the way that makes sense to you.
    2. You can keyword photos with Birthday party, but also Title them with Bob's 30th, that gives you two ways to search for them
This might give you some ideas:
I use Events simply as big buckets of Photos: Spring 08, July - Nov 06 are typical Events in my Library. I use keywords and Smart Albums extensively. I title the pics broadly.
    I keyword on a
    Who
    What
Where basis (The When is in the photos's Exif metadata). I also rate the pics on a 1 - 5 star basis.
Using this system I can find pretty much find any pic in my 50k library in a couple of seconds.
So, for example, I have a batch of pics titled 'Seattle 08' and a  typical keywording might include: John, Anne, Landscape, mountain, trees, snow. With a rating included it's so very easy to find the best pics we took at Mount Rainier.
    File -> New Smart Album
    set it to 'All"
    title contains Seattle
    keyword is mountain
    keyword is snow
    rating is 5 stars
Or, want a chronological album of John from birth to today?
    New Smart Album
    Keyword is John
Set the View options to Sort By Date Ascending
    Want only the best pics?
add Rating is greater than 4 stars
The best thing about this system is that it's dynamic. If I add 50 more pics of John  to the Library tomorrow, as I keyword and rate them they are added to the Smart Album.
In the end, organisation is about finding the pics. The point is to make locating that pic or batch of pics findable fast. This system works for me.

  • ICloud photostream issues with iPhoto 9

    MacbookPro 2013, running 10.9.1 with iPhoto 9.5.1
I have set up a new photostream with iCloud and it's fine on all my devices, but when I try to open the pics through iPhoto it takes me to my 'trash folder'.
I can see the folder and the thumbnails are all fine?
When I then try to play the slideshow, the images appear but are overlaid with the word 'trash'
    Very wierd.
    Any advice?

#1 is an indication that the library is damaged. Make a temporary, duplicate copy of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
