No picture, but sound during commercial

Recently, our TV goes black during some commercials, but the sound is still on. I thought it was our HD set top box, but it is happening on another box that isn't HD. Is anyone else having these issues? It happens ONLY during some commercials.

Streaming iCloud movie from iPad to Apple TV via AirPlay resulted no picture but sound.

I notice that movie (iTunes purchased) that store in my iPad 2 when AirPlay to Apple TV 3 everything fine but for iCloud movie streaming (iTunes purchased that store in iCloud), I only manage to get sound from Apple TV 3, no picture. Apple TV only displayed running time. This happen after Apple TV new updates few days ago. Before update, everything is fine.
I used iPad 2 to stream iCloud movies to Apple TV because the streaming is much faster than using Apple TV 3 own streaming which some times the buffer took quite some times to load.
And why on my iPad 2 which still running iOS 5.1.1 the AirPlay icon missing the Mirroring on/off icon. In AirPlay I can only choose iPad or Apple TV but without the Mirroring on/off icon.
If I AirPlay iTunes purchases movies (iCloud Streaming) to Apple TV, my Pioneer AV amp decode Dolby Digital 5.1 but if I connect using Apple Digital AV Adapter via HDMI into Pioneer AV amp, I only manage to get PCM Stereo track.
If the iTunes purchases movies have been downloaded and store on my iPad 2, then either AirPlay or using Apple Digital AV Adapter via HDMI, my Pioneer AV decode Dolby Digital 5.1
I planning to purchase Mac Mini for storage iTunes purchases movies and listening music plus some PC users. Should I ditch Apple TV or should I use both ?

That app has not been enabled for airplay, it is up to the developer to do so

32DT1U Flat Screen No Picture but sound

Picture will come on for about 2 seconds then screen goes black. There is sound...no picture.
Green LED light is lit solid. Turn it off or unplug...restart....Brief Picture ...black screen..sound only.

My Regza 37hl67, when powering up would blink the picture and then the screen goes black. The sound was fine. It's 6 years old, hanging on the wall and can be moved and tilted. This started 2 years ago, then went away, I don't know why. Now it started again yesterday, but finally came on after about 5 power down/up. Today blink the picture and then black. I went on the website and found a thread about a larger regza getting lines and finally shutting the picture down. One of the speculations was the panel was too heavy for the frame, and their solution was to adjust the frame. Then I noticed my tv was tilted down. I tilted it up, wiggled the frame a little and turned it on. Voila, picture came on and stayed on. Wierd fix.

YouView no picture but sound

I'm new to this forum so I'm sorry if this is a repeat.
Got back off hols today to find the YouView box would not start and gave me the 'Nearly Ready' for ages. After rebooting (off ad on) going through the Maintenance menu and Internet / USB Update Keep recordings, it worked for a while.
Later on in the morning we got the first instance of sound, but no picture after about 30 - 45 mins of watching a programme. This time after rebooting we tried the Factory Reset Keep Programmes and once again it worked for a while.
This afternoon it worked for probably over an hour, and then again stopped with sound but no picture. We have once again rebooted the box and now have the 'Nearly ready' again.
What do we try next?

I think I have the same problem as you...after a while (has been as short as 5 minutes or over an hour) for the last few days the picture disappears and I only get sound. After a little while longer the whole box freezes. Switching it off/on then turning it on doesn't seem to fix it immediately (it fails to boot, maybe a purple screen). It seems I need to leave it for a while so I'm wondering if something is overheating?
Whatever the problem I suspect it is a hardware fault thereofre the box will need replacing!

No picture but sound is there when try to watch anything on web

Just recently start experiencing problems with video content on my Mac Mini. When I try to watch certain videos or video clips on web, screen ( window) turns black or green, sound is there but no picture. Most clips on You tube I have no problem at all but, for example, when I tried to watch new iPad tutorial movie on Apple site sound is there but window is black. Tried all tricks with Quick Time Player, have updated Flip4Mac WMV plug in still nothing. What I do wrong?

Hello! Not 100 percent sure, however this is what I would do first. google flash uninstaller and then download the program to uninstall flash, then reinstall it. Also do an apple software update and make sure there is not anything that needs updating. See if you can't 'reset' your settings in quicktime to default. The flash thing I would try first however as its a big culprit...

What are you trying to stream via AirPlay, websites and apps need enabling by the developer, not all are. Some simply haven't got around to it and others don't want to (often for licensing reasons I assume)

You really need a newer Mac Mini with a true HDMI output, because that Mac Mini's DVI output does not support Audio.
You might try a 3.5mm to RCA adapter
from the Mac Mini's headphone jack to the TV's audio input,
but that would require being able to select the Audio input in the TVs menu while using it's HDMI input.
Optionally you could also use an external 2.1 Speaker System or patch the audio from the Mac Mini to your home stereo system to enhance that older Mac Mini's audio.

Pavilion g6-1b70us. Picture but no sound from tv when using HDMI. Previously worked no problem.

I have a pavilion g6-1b70us that I am trying to hook up to my tv with an hdmi cable. I get a picture, but no sound. This previously worked with no problem. When I pull up my sound playback settings the only options are speakers and headphones. When I pull up my devices, the Samsung tv is there, but is described as a "generic monitor" (thought that was weird). I have uninstalled and reinstalled my intel graphics driver and IDC audio driver but still no sound through TV. Also, I will mention that in under control panel>devices and sounds there is a link to SRS Premium Sound. As you can see in the picture below, the Samsung device shows up, but it is grayed out and cannot be selected. Can someone please help?

Well in case anyone is interested I fixed the issue (only took me 12 hours to figure out, lol). Apparently even though the Samsung tv was not appearing in the sound playback options, you can still right click in the blank area and an enable/disable option will appear.

VGA picture but no sound

I have a Toshiba laptop and a flat screen Sceptre TV. I hooked a VGA cable to my computer and laptop and got a good picture, but no sound. The sound still comes through the laptop and not the TV. Is there a setting I need to change?

A VGA cable doesn't transmit audio. You'll need to use separate cables to transmit audio.

Yikes, Box is Working but no picture or sound...tv guide is showing current though....

Ok, I checked the tv, it works fine with vcr, so the pic and audio is good. the box is functioning, changing channels and such. the guide comes on to tell you what is on at that time and shows current, but no picture or sound....whats up with this??? I am in FL. Thanks for any help!

You might want to check your Fios TV page on the website to see if it says "Your STB record cannot be found". I started having this problem today. Everything was fine last night. I got forwarded from Verizon to somewhere else where they were supposed to add my boxes back in. The individual said it was done and I should have the picture back momentarily. I waited 1 and a half hours. Called back. gave them the "M" numbers for my 2 boxes. They said it would take up to 24 hours to get the picture back. Unfortunately that doesn't help me when their is boxing on tonight that I want to watch. If it is not fixed in time for football tomorrow I am not going to be happy.

Yes; if a game does not require a web connection after it is loaded, you can go on playing it after moving out of range of the hotspot.

I need help just bought apple tv and connected to my flatscreen samsung 1080p to the tv hdmi4 and i get picture but NO SOUND!! Am I missing a cable?? Do I need something else?? What do i do ???

I'm not familiar with your Denon specifically, but my Onkyo A/V amp has a settings menu for each input. Check the settings for the HDMI input you have the ATV connected to and make sure they are correct for your TV.
Also, as I mentioned previously, you could connect your ATV back to your TV directly with the HDMI cable, then connect the optical audio output on the ATV to an optical audio input on your Denon, then make sure it is selected when you watch the ATV to get digital sound.

Itunes - Video file conversion (Picture but no sound)

When I convert videofiles (avi, wmv) to Ipod/Iphone using Itunes i get the picture but no sound.
Please help me.

It's an issue with the file being multiplexed (a.k.a muxed, where the audio and video tracks are interleaved together into one track). iTunes can't export the audio from these files. Read more about it here:

24" new, has picture but NO Sound (ps3)

just got a new 'Model:24SL41OU' Toshiba 24" tv from best buy today.
ive hooked up my ps3 to it and it has picture, but no sound
i have tried
-resetting ps3
-unplugging tv for 10 minutes
-have used both PS3 optical sound output and the regular red/white output. neither setting/cable works
-went into menu setting, tried different sound settings, but nothing has worked
i know its not my ps3 since it works on my other tv, so i have no idea whats wrong. im doubting its not a faulty TV since its new, but i have no idea how to fix this no-sound problem. really frustrating...
anyone know how to fix it?
