No picture in picture using facetime

I have a MacBook Pro and Facetime works fine. When I try to Facetime with my girlfriend, who has a MacBook Air, all she sees is herself on her computer, whereas I see her in the big window and myself with the picture in picture on my computer. Why can't she see me in the big picture and herself in the picture in picture on her computer? When I talk to my kids with Facetime on their iPod Touches it works like it should: big picture window and picture in picture for both parties.

This sounds like something I can't help you with. It's very odd.
But just to be clear about your observations:
1) You have "iPhoto Videos" selected in your "Event Library" list, lower left-hand side, and
2) You can see the thumbnails for the desired clips in the lower right-hand side browser window.
3) When played, the thumbnail clips can be heard but not seen in the upper right-hand side preview window.
4) When dragged to the project timeline in the upper left (does the thumbnail appear there?) you see the same problem; sound plays but no image appears.
Is this all correct?

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears. 
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions. 
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

WHEN USING FACETIME, THE OTHER PERSON CAN SEE AND HEAR ME BUT I CANT HEAR THEM AND THEIR VIDEO IS A STILL PICTURES.. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY ANSWERS???

If the other person can't see you during a FaceTime call, first use the Camera app on the iPhone to make sure the camera is working properly. If you don't see an image when using the Camera app, try these troubleshooting steps first:
If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Cases can interfere with the camera and the flash. Try gently cleaning the lens with a clean dry cloth or removing the case if you see image or color-quality issues with photos.
Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.

Yes, if you want to call one device from another each must have a unique email calling address. Go to Settings>FaceTime and add another email calling address and delete the other one after you set up the second one.
I learned that a long time ago when I tried to call my iPod from my Mac.

From what you describe I would take a look at the side switch, it may be set to lock the rotation of the screen.

I just switched from PC where I used Skype to a MacPro (Lion OS) and want to use FaceTime; but the picture is so narrow. Can FaceTime produce a full screen picture. The "Welcome" tutorial suggests so but doesn't tell you how. Thanks.

Do a Google search for iPod touch repair. Lot of places have flat rates for that.

From a couple of weeks i didn't used camera in my mobile.
Today when i used to capture some pics, i am unable to capture the pictures using the dedicated key.
But Same is working in burst mode but not in remaining all modes (Auto mode, manual mode.... )

Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
Then launch iPhoto. That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.

Can I use Image Capture to take a picture using a Canon EOS 10D?

Normally I use a card reader to download digital photos, but today I hooked my camera directly to my iMac. I then noticed the "Take Picture" button, so I tried to use it to take a picture with my Canon EOS 10D. Image Capture didn't refuse, it just showed the 'cogwheel' animated cursor and got stuck. What does this mean - is it that this particular camera won't work or that there is something wrong with the setup? I have other digital cameras, but I don't want to work all this out by experiment alone - how can I find out more about how this feature of IC works and what exactly is going on when I press "Take Picture"? There is absolutely no technical info in the Help files.

The Help on Image Capture has the following:
Many cameras let you take a picture using Image Capture when the camera is connected to your computer.
To take a picture:
Connect your camera and open Image Capture.
Click Download Some.
Click Take Picture.
The camera snaps a picture, which then appears in the window.
If you don’t see the Take Picture icon, choose View > Customize Toolbar, and drag the Take Picture icon to the toolbar.
If the Take Picture icon is dimmed, your camera doesn’t support this feature.
As the option is available to you, your camera supports +Tethered Shooting+. If it’s not working check your camera’s manual to see do you need this enabled on your camera.

Unfortunately I cannot help you; all I did was test for you.
I did an upgrade over my Lion install with Mountain Lion which went fine. I just tested icon view in my Finder on different files and folders and here in my installation all stays fine; good readable like in column view!
The only thing you might try is change your Font in Finder and set it back to the original afterwards!
I quickly Google'd how to change fonts in the Finder as appearantly there's no obvious gui item for it:

Try to see if it brings you anywhere!
At my post all fonts act normal after my upgrade to Mountain Lion; I don't do a clean install unless I really have to!
