Its a video shot on a Panasonic HVX-200. edited on Final cut Pro, and exported as a quicktime. It's loaded into
my itunes movie library, but does not appear on my apple TV movie library. It plays in my itunes just fine, and it plays on apple TV, but only the sound, no picture. The movie is 12 gigs, don't know if that makes a difference?

  • Bought musicvideo - no picture, just sound

    Hallo
The music videos i've bought in itunes don't work anymore. I only hear the sound, but I can't see anything - the whole video it's just dark.
I've already tried to move the video on the desktop and open it with Quicktime - no success.
Does anybody know how I can fix this problem? I don't want to buy the videos one more time.
    Ps: My iTunes-version is 10.1

Can't speak for videos in iTunes, but if QuickTime is only giving you sound, you may need to get the Perian codec pack.. http://perian.org/
    Try that.

  • No picture, just sound ?

I can only hear the Apple TV's menu ... I dont get any picture. Any ideas? I know its in the right port. I connected component and HDMI and both do the same. Anyway to reset the Apple TV with the remote? or is there a button on it somewhere?

    Chris
Is this an out of the box issue or have you had it all working previously. There is no external reset button that I know of, perhaps a power down and remove all cables for 30 seconds might help but it doesn't sound as though it will to me. This sounds like it might be a failed unit to me.

  • Movies, no picture, just sound on iPod

I have 5th Generation (30gb) iPod(2yrs old). I purchased 2 movies from the iTunes store. They show up and play in iTunes. I synced to my iPod, they both show up in the movies, but only the sound plays. On the screen no movie, just a little thumbnail of the movie and a progress bar across the bottom. This is the first time I have messed with movies and I have no idea how to correct this. Can anyone help me please? I wanted to watch these on my vacaton flight and I am leaving this Friday. I am very frustrated, I have been searching the support website for days to no avail. HELP!

On your iPod go to "Videos / Video Settings".
Then select "TV Out" and either set it to "off" or "ask".
Also, make sure you are accessing the video through the videos menu. If you have a video mixed in an audio playlist and you access it through that, you also won't be able to see the video.

  • No vids on website but just sound?

I've been using playthisriff.com which uses quicktime, But recently i can't get a picture, just sound. I'm sure my itunes updated recently & was wondering if that has something to do with it?

    Your original movie is 800 x 437.
Your OBJECT code in HTML is 500 x 216.
Your displayed size is 366 x 216 (including 16 pixels for the controller), since scale=aspect.
I found that in Windows, movies that have not the same displayed width and height as the original will not show.
To avoid that, make sure that the displayed width and height are the same as the original size.
    Two steps:
    1. Resize your original movie to 366 x 200. It's proportional. Or use 400 x 219, which is half size of the original.
    2. Set width and height of OBJECT (and EMBED) to 366 x 216 (including 16px for the controller). Or 400 x 235 (including 16px for the controller)
    See if that helps.
Also, I noticed a param error in your OBJECT code:
    <param name="type" value="video/quicktime" *height="216" width="500"* >
The width and height shouldn't be there.

  • Movie has no picture or sound

I just bought star trek on blueray and it came with a digital copy of the movie.. which i downloaded to itunes.
I havent used this program for years.. but when i play the movie no picture or sound come up, but the timer is running like its playing something.
other than the cover and the chapter pictures i see no movies whatsoever

I've got a similar problem with downloaded movies. The timer runs, the chapters show up and the title of the movies but no audio or video. Contacted iTunes support where I got little to no support. Have done a clean removal and reinstall of iTunes and Quicktime but still nothing. I have a couple of older movies in my library that do play fine so problem seems to be in recent downloading? Corruption? Have tried 3 different downloaded and still nothing! paying for movies I can not watch is getting old fast!

  • Connecting a macbook to a tv:  correct cables, still no picture or sound

I have the correct cables connected securely and I have no picture or sound displaying on the tv.  The mac screen "blinks" once when I unplug the adapter, so it is aware that it is connected to something.
Current setup:  2010 13" Macbook--> Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter --> VGA Display cable --> Toshiba TV.
Also:  Macbook--> Stereo Mini to RCA Y Cable --> TV.
If I hit system pref--> displays --> detect displays, nothing happens.  The tv is showing its default "I have no dvd in me so I will do nothing" screen.  I have tried changing the channel and input on the tv, restarting my computer, turning the TV on/off, unpluging and repluging cables, all to no avail.  The tv plays dvds just fine and is otherwise in working order as far as I know.  What's wrong here?

Input button already tried.  It doesn't do anything.
New thing:  a display icon has now appeared on the top of the screen.  I selected "turn on mirroring" which my television has blatantly ignored.  No progress.
Also:  guy at Best Buy seemed pretty sure that the RCA cable mentioned previously would do the job for sound, not that that is working either.

  • No HD picture when viewing in Quicktime

I can't get a picture when I view quicktime HD video. Primaily Apple movie trailers. The sound is fine. Its perfect. I only get zig zag lines during HD video. The only way to see a trailer is if it has regular video. I have quicktime 7.5. This is very fustrating. It didn't happen until I re-installed my windows XP from scratch. This is the only software that no longer works right. Is there something I did wrong?

With that one, it might be worth trying the "Disable Direct3D acceleration in QuickTime" section from the following document. (iTunes uses QuickTime for video playback so the same basic troubleshooting procedures apply.)

(After making the settings change, restart QuickTime prior to checking if the change has had any effect.)

  • No sound from Quicktime 7

Trying to watch .avi, shows perfectly - but no sound. i have tried going into applications/utilities/audio setup etc...but still doesn't work.
Can anyone help this novice mac user?

First, identify what type of audio encoding is used then look for a component to support it in QuickTime or use an alternative player.
To identify the file*, video and audio** format of a movie or sound file:
    QuickTime Player:
    Open the file
Window menu > Show movie info
    Look in the Format: field
**Note that recently someone posted in the forum that QuickTime Player failed to display any audio information for a file which did play with audio (A52) in VLC.
    MPlayer OSX:
Show the playlist window if it isn't already visible.
Drag the movie file into the playlist window.
Select the movie in the list
Click the "i" button for info
    VLC:
    Open the movie in VLC
    Window menu > Info
Click the black triangles so that they point down
*Note that VLC does not display the file format, only the format of the content (audio and video) within the file. A file ending in .divx for instance, is probably in actuality an avi file but VLC doesn't show that information - MPlayer will and QuickTime Player will - if - QuickTime Player will open the file to begin with.

  • Video exports without image, just sound

I'm using photoshop CS6 extended, and i'm trying to put together a 'slideshow' with images in timeline fading in to eachother. I also added an audio clip, an mp3. For some reason, after exporting the video, the mp4 i created has NO images, just the sound. I've tried exporting a quicktime and the same thing happened (no images, just sound)
    Please help!

It happens with every video format. I already tried mplayer and it doesn't work too. The problems began with the catalyst 9.5 update (I'm not really sure about that). It worked fine with catalyst 9.4 but know it doesn't. It might be some other problem not related to the card driver but I think it began with it.

  • No picture or sound on downloaded video from iTunes

I recently purchased a video from the iTunes store and I searched the forums for nearly an hour and couldn't find anything that helped. The file was rather large (2.18 GB). When it had "finished" it had an error mesage next to it "Network Connection Refused" or something along those lines. After that, it did not automatically load the videos into my "purchased" playlist. I had to manually track down the finished downloaded file on my hard drive. I added the file to my library in iTunes just fine, but if I try to play the video from iTunes (or after I loaded it onto my iPod for that matter)I just get a gray picture and no sound, yet the movie slider is showing the 3:07:55 and is moving as if a movie is playing. I haven't had any trouble with this in the past with music videos or podcasts or anything like that and I have sufficient space on my hard disk. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.
Dell Inspiron 1501   Windows XP   Laptop

I have all the drivers updated for Vista Business (I have switched from XP Pro to Vista Business since I posted). When I had XP Pro all my drivers were up to date as well. I have had several videos work from before. What was interesting though was that because the file was so large (2.17 GB) I had to let the computer sit overnight. When it finished though, there was a network error of some sorts, though it showed that the download had completed. I said "OK" and thought that it would put it into my purchases playlist, but it did not. I had to track down the file manually and imported myself, but what I get is a gray screen when trying to play in iTunes 7 and a black screen when on the iPod. The interesting thing though is that the slidebar for the time is moving with no picture or sound. I think there may be something I need to do to the file, but not quite sure. Any ideas? Thanks!
