No Plan Choice?

I've ordered my phone, but why was I not able to choose a calling plan?  It just put in the plan that approximated the Alltel plan I've had for 2 years, and charged me $89.99 for it!  It's not even a plan that Verizon offers, and is MUCH more expensive than the one I need!  Anybody else having that problem?  Any ideas as to how to solve it?
Thanks in advance!

Seriously...is no one else having this problem?  Are you able to sign up for the calling plan you want?

  • ESS- Open Enrollment quick link - no plan selections

I've enabled the Open Enrollment Quick link in Benefits and Payment.  When I execute it, I get the error message
"No plan selections could be prepared for the specified enrollment reason. Contact your Benefits Administrator for assistance"
R/3 and ITS both display the enrollment plan choices without an adjustment reason of OPEN.  Why can't the Portal ESS find them?

This is pretty old but still for the people who will be visiting to this thread just like I did.
We had a same issue... I have checked Web Dynpro java application for benefits enrollment and it shows this message when it has ZERO plans to show in open enrollment.
Then I did debugging in ECC Function modules and found why it is not sending any benefit plans even though user has them in Info type 168 (insurance plans).
It could be any reason for plans not to populate, our reason was user have Vol Spouse Life insurance and Voluntary Child Life Insurance but they dont have Spouse and/or Child records in Info type 21.
So, this error will show up when there are ZERO plans / records to show in portal. Find your issue why by debugging.

  • What happens when the maximum limit of DataBase partitiong is reached

    Hello,
We are using SQL server 2012 which allows 15000 partitions per table.
We are partitioning tables on the primary ID (e.g. periodID) of one of the tables.
As of now we have data for all the period in the DB. I am wondering that if we reach the maximum partition limit allowed by SQL server then what is the suggested approach?

    Hi Rachana,
I have not tried it myself so I do not know. I suppose, it would just fail to create new partition. However, I heard some stories about performance issues, mainly related to subotimal execution plan choices in the systems with a few thousands partitions.
Frankly, I would not be surprised to see such problems. Under the hood, every partition becomes "individual table" with data in clustered and aligned nonclustered indexes sorted on partition scope. In any case, I would consider systems with thousands
of partitions are the edge cases. You rarely find them in the real life and some inefficiencies and problems could slip through the cracks in the test plans.
I would also suspect that number of partitions in DW systems is less important than in OLTP due to the query patterns - scans vs. seeks.
With all being said, I would consider such designs as impractical. Partitioning is management feature, which helps to address a few challenges, such as improving system availability with piecemeal restore; implementing tiered storage; improve concurrency
during ETL processes; implementing sliding window scenario; etc. I can see very little benefits of creating large number of partitions. Obviously, in some cases it could be beneficial to have a few dozens of operational (actively accessed and volatile) data
partitions. However, you rarely have the case to implement large number of partitions on historical/old data. Administrative overhead could easily outweight any benefits here.
For example, if I needed to architect partitioning on the large OLTP table that stores data for several years, I would partition operational data (weekly, monthly - depends on the requirements); partition previous-year data on quarterly or yearly basis and
keep older data in the single partition. Tiered storage and availability SLAs would become the most critical factors in the decision.
In fact, I would consider to combine both, partitioned views and partitioned tables together keeping recent data in the separate tables to improve accuracy of index statistics and old data in partitioned tables using partitioned views on top of that. But
it is the subject of another discussion.
    Thank you!

  • Optimize union in ase query

we have a "select" query using 3 union operators (4 selects in total). In ASE 12.5.4 ESD# 10 executes in 2 sec, in ASE 15.7 SP103 it needs 88sec. If I run only 2 "select" (one union) it runs fast
I enable "compatibility mode" but it has no effect at all. The main difference in the plans is that in 12.5 the query is parallelized, however even when I added "parallel clauses" the performance was not improved. None of the tables is partitioned, all the tables have clear dbcc, the tables are not very big (700000 rows max),sysmon seems ok.
The "statistics io" output shows considerable higher io for version 15.7 and this is probably the explanation. I have tested several options of the optimizer which do not work. Also I have increased the histogram steps which improved the performance up to 88sec (before this the query had not finished in 20min)
I tried to  use the abstract plan used in 12.5.4 but I have several messages like
    Server 'TVSONL', Line 1:
The children of the 'nl_join ' operator don't have the required properties, as ordering, partitioning. The logical relational operation is valid at this point but it can not be implemented by this physical operator.

I have no experience on abstract plans, but I shall try to read the manual and work on this.
I open this thread mostly for any ideas on what to do, I was surprised that compatibility mode has no effect and I really don't know what to do. Maybe there is a hint somewhere on optimizing "unions"
    Thank you in advance

    Hi,
You should persist down the missing_stats route, it may well help to create a few histograms.
Are you absolutely sure that compatibility mode (maybe at server level) was not on?
The fact it is not only priming the search engine with the legacy AP, but actually using it in full usually would mean that basic_optimization was set (which isn't the case here) or it is using partial compatibilty mode ( same thing as basic).
If it is on then any changes to the 15x Optimizer criteria will have no effect unless specified in an abstract plan themselves.
The 'show long' will contain all that is in a 'show on' output but will also contain the logical properties stage ( which is actually where ASE forms the basis of the row counts you see in the plancost output), the codegen phase (no use to anyone unless you are trying to debug something more than plan choice), some extra pushdown info, more info in eqc competition (can be key), more info post 'best plan' stage - and gumpf. It is a requirement to really try to piece together what is going on in a lot of circumstances however with more than 4 or 5 tables and anything other than a few simple entries in the predicate, as is likely here, it becomes unmanageable.
Disable all parallel and make sure you have no forces in the query (no parallel hints etc), then
    Run this:-
    set compatibilty_mode off
    set statement_cache off
    set plan optlevel ase_current
    set option show on
    set option show_log_props on
    set statistics time,io,plancost,resource on
    set option show_missing_stats on
    set showplan on
    set show_sqltext on
    dbcc traceon (526, 3604)
    go
    <query>
Then do the same again i.e. (all the commands )but add in:
    set store_index off
Then the same as the first set again adding in:
    set alternative_greedy_search off
Then the same as the first set again with:
    set store_index off
    set alternative_greedy_search off
Then the same as the first set again but add in:
    set plan optlevel ase_default
And post the outputs. As Jeff said, ddl is really needed to help out here and maybe optdiag outputs as well. Can you run it on 125x with showplan and set statistics time, io on as well?
Be prepared that modifying/splitting out this query might be your only option.
    Cheers,
    Simon

    Regards,

The plan shows the optimizer estimates - the estimates which led to that particular plan being chosen - rather than the actuals.
The difference between actual and estimate is what gives you excellent leads to investigate poor plan choices.
Given that all the estimates are for 1 row - perhaps ( ! ) you have a statistics issue.

  • Activate a KIN on America's Choice Plan?

Does any one know if a KIN can be activated on a grandfathered America's Choice plan? One of my accounts got switched off of my America's Choice plan and is in the process of switching back, so I'm unable to check online.

Maybe you already read this thread I'm linking to, but it sounds like you can keep your America's Choice plan, but you cannot use minutes for data. I read on another forum that this is one of the few phones that works on an AC plan. Hope that helps.

  • Americas choice family Plan 500 min shared

I TRIED to talk via Chat to a rep last night and got nowhere they wanted me to change plans and all i wanted was an answer to a simple question.
I have had this plan for years and when I got My smart phone, I added 1000 text for $10.00 extra a month . Before I added that I thought I had 100 text included in my plan . I was asking if they could confirm that and kept getting a run around to change plans . The reason I ask is because i don't even use 40 text a month so I was considering dropping the extra  $10.00 expense, But they couldn't answer that i would have the 100 text included from the original plan . Does anyone Know ? ? I even asked for a supervisor and was told they are  Busy. I said I would wait and then was told they were Unavalable ??

Most times reps are not capable of answering questions about grandparented plans because they are not trained on it.
"How much does text messaging cost?
Text messaging charges vary by your plan. Please refer to the list below to learn about your text messaging rates:     The MORE Everything Plan -- You have unlimited domestic and international text and multimedia messaging.
Nationwide Talk & Text Plan -- You have unlimited text, multimedia and instant messaging while within the United      States.
All other plans -- Each text message sent or received is $0.20 each. Text messages sent to other countries are      $0.25 per text sent and $0.20 per text received."
So you would be under the last category. Your best bet is to keep the $10/1000min text plan.

  • SAP MAP - Best Choices for Planning Technical Basis

    Hello, experts!
For today there are 3 variants of MAP planning scenaries implementation:
1.Planning and reporting via MAP Business content for BI Integrated planning
2.Planning and reporting via MAP Business content for BPS
3.Planning in ECC based MAP functionality and reporting in BI
Whether there are recommendations which alternative is more suitable, pro/cons?
It is possible to use standard MAP workflow scenaries with planning in BPS or BI Integrated planning ?
    Regards,
    Dmitry.

    1.     BW Integrated Planning is the new SAP MAP Planning Solution. There is a also BI Content with predefined templates on BI Content 7.04. The next BI Content 7.05 will include many more out-of-the-box Templates.
    a.     7.04 includes predefined templates for Strategic-, Store- and Merchandise Plan for RMA and CMA. Additionally there is a basic template to do seasonal Assortment Planning on Assortment/Style/Color/Size level in MAP and send it to the Operational Assortment Planning and Control in ECC. But no templates for non-seasonal Assortment Planning.

    2.     BW BPS is our old Planning Platform. Don´t use it anymore. There's also no migration option to BW Integrated Planning.
    3.     The (very!) old ERP-based MAP functionality is not supported anymore, thus don't use it. All development goes into the above mentioned (1.) SAP MAP solution based on BW Integrated Planning.
In connection with Integrated Planning, Operational Assortment Planning and Control (OAPC) is the ECC application to plan your seasonal Assortment. The OAPC will get input from SAP MAP either on level Assortment or on level Assortment/Style/Color/Size. Depends on the customer requirements.

  • Bought an Airport Express in Slovenia, planning to use it in Moscow. When configuring, Moscow is not an option for location. I ticked Ljubljana for set up; got green light, but network not working. Is choice of city the problem?

While on vacation, I bought an Airport Express in Slovenia, planning to use it in my Moscow apartment. I plugged everything in, seem to have followed the directions properly for configuration - except for one thing.  Moscow does not come up as an option for location. So I tried ticking Ljubljana (Slovenia) as location (since that's where I bought it). The cycle seemed to have worked, I got a green light on the Airport Express, but the network didn't work.  I tried going in to change the location, and chose something called Universal, but the network still didn't work.
Is the fact that Moscow doesn't come up among the options going to be a problem?  Or is it possible I am doing something else wrong?
    Anyone have any insights?

AirPort Utility for the iPhone, iPad, etc does not support the older version of the AirPort Express that you have.
Try installing AirPort Utility on the Lenovo laptop to see if you can configure the AirPort Express that way.
If the laptop runs XP SP3 or Vista SP2.....use AirPort Utility 5.5.3 for Windows - Support - Apple
    Windows 7....use AirPort Utility 5.6.1 for Windows 7 - Support - Apple
Remember that the SB5101 modem must be fully reset before it will associate correctly with the AirPort Express. That means pressing the reset button on the back of the modem (if present) and powering off the modem for at least 30 minutes, then connecting it to the AirPort.

  • Data plans in the new wireless world

I see an impending collapse of many peoples internet service approaching soon and very little discussion on the topic, so I decided to write this to help inform Verizon of some of its customers needs.
What originally attracted me to Verizon was its effort to push beyond the big markets and reach all of America. Create a country where everyone is "connected". Join Verizon and we will take care of you no matter where you live. These are the ideas Verizon has pushed onto people over the years and I commend them on doing a very good job at reaching these goals. The issue is, they have acquired such a large customer base it is now creating problems. An excellent marketing tactic of wireless service providers was always to offer up unlimited data plans to attract people to their service and this used to create very little risk for the service provider because wireless data was slower the telegraph!! Cellular providers used to sell phones, now they sell computers. Have they adjusted to this new market accordingly?
When you had a 3G phone or even back when it was 2G or 1XX paying extra for unlimited data was pointless. As Verizon's CFO recently pointed out "Unlimited is just a word" "people don't use near the data they think they do" this is exactly why they could profit from unlimited data in the past, because this was true. Have you ever tried to stream a hi-def movie on 3G service? you were lucky if it wasn't pausing to buffer every 10 secs, what did you do every time this happened, you stopped trying to watch it!! Therefore you didn't use the data required to stream that content. Now just when wireless technology is finally becoming fast enough to be useful or enjoyable, it is being shut down.
The new 4G LTE services have finally made it possible to reach 8-10 MB download speeds on regular basis. You can stream a full 1080 hi-def Blu-ray quality movie with 7.1 surround sound if your internet connection speed is over 5 MB. This sounds great doesn't it, finally I can watch SyFy, Hulu or Vudu with my aircard. This is the problem Verizon is facing, because that one 90 minute movie from Vudu at 1080 hi-def just sucked up 5 GB!!  No that was not a typo, full hi-def streaming video will push 4-5 GB in a couple hours. Verizon had to curtail this "excessive" data usage by reverting to tiered plans or "shared data"  so with the new data plans that was a $50 movie, at that price you would once again stop watching it and not use the data required to stream that content.
Verizon broadband could not handle this volume of data being used when people started getting 4G internet service, so they had no choice but to end unlimited plans or be faced with the reality that they could not support there millions of customers data usage. For most people this will not create a big issue because they probably still live somewhere that they have access to other internet services such as DSL, Cable, or the best at Fiber Optic. DSL and cable will usually have a plan that creates fast enough internet speeds for streaming video but you will have to pay for a premium service.
This however does create a step backwards, in what seemed like a step forward for the rural community. 3G unlimited aircard was a great option for rural community's, finally offering them an affordable internet service that often could still play Netflix, as well as all the normal uses such as e-mail and browsing, although it would not stream a 1080 hi-def movie it could at times stream a standard-def movie. Now with unlimited going out the window all those people that thought it was going to be so great to upgrade to a 4G aircard and finally watch movies, quickly realized that wasn't going to happen and worse Verizon is showing signs of completely eliminating all unlimited data as they course through their contracts looking for legal ways to stop honoring them, and for those that they can not stop honoring they have started to "throttle" usage when it exceeds a certain amount usually around 2 GB a month. This is perfectly legal to do, almost all ISP's will do this this when you exceed a certain amount of data, the difference is when your ISP offers 8 MB connection speeds and throttles you down to 5 MB speeds because you use a lot of data, you never really notice it unless you download media instead of streaming it and your downloads seem to take longer then normal but it doesn't effect you enough to complain. When your internet speeds are 1-2 MB as they are with 3G service, throttling brings you down to 300-600 KBPS!! They will throttle your speed down so much that you can't do much of anything except e-mail and browsing, Netflix will not work anymore, so thinking you can stay with a 3G device and just keep what you have isn't an option. They are forcing everyone into new plans.
In the past it was very hard to use 10 GB of data on a wireless carriers broadband because speeds were to slow to allow use of all the online media. Now it is very easy to use 60 GB a month if you like movies and online TV. (That is 60 GB without downloading any media just streaming it) Perhaps if we are lucky Verizon will once again return to the table and look for ways to help their rural customers without taking are internet away from us. If I could pay for DSL from my local phone company I would, but I do not even have a phone line tied to my house, and if I decided to get one it still would not have internet access. But due to Verizon's efforts in expanding there 4G service across the country as quickly as possible I do have excellent 4G wireless service available in my home. Just as I thought it was time to get a Verizon aircard and start watching movies again, they told me you will never be able to afford it.
If Verizon can create a rural community data plan for users that have no other means to access the internet and and it doesn't cost $600 a month then I will happily buy it, and also understand that it cannot cost $30 a month either, but if people could get, Phone, Internet (with say 50 GB limit), TV (by tv I don't mean Verizon TV that I agree should be an addition to the bill, i mean the free hulu, syfy and payed netflix accounts that are accessible with any internet connection fast enough to stream), Movie Store in their living room (Vudu) all in one package I think that $200 a month is a reasonable price.
Now all I can do is wait and see who calls first. If Verizon creates a new data plan that allows media streaming at a reasonable price ill buy it. If my Local phone company offers me high speed internet and phone first, ill buy that instead and throw my current $140 month Verizon bill in the trash when I end the contract. I will not have 2 phones, I only have a Verizon phone because I have no Land line in my home. So I guess the race is on to see who can maintain the rural community's business.

What about Via Sat Exede satellite? 12 Mbps down and 3 Mbps up
    25GB $130
Free data midnight to 5 am
Hook up VoIP phone and you got close to what you are asking, depending if you are a night owl or not.

  • Question on optimum choice of index - whether to use CTXCAT or CONTEXT

    Hi ,
I have a situation in which there are short texts that are to be searched for diacritical characters and for that I implemented CTXCAT type of index. The solution works fine except for left side wild card search - in that case I have suggested the developers to use the query template feature. -this is the background information for the question I have and following example demonstrates it:
    CREATE TABLE TEST_USER
      FIRST_NAME  VARCHAR2(64 CHAR)                 NOT NULL,
      LAST_NAME   VARCHAR2(64 CHAR)                 NOT NULL
    CREATE INDEX TEST_USER_IDX3 ON TEST_USER
    (FIRST_NAME)
    INDEXTYPE IS CTXSYS.CTXCAT
    PARAMETERS('LEXER cust_lexer');
    CREATE INDEX TEST_USER_IDX4 ON TEST_USER
    (LAST_NAME)
    INDEXTYPE IS CTXSYS.CTXCAT
    PARAMETERS('LEXER cust_lexer');
Don't worry about the cust_lexer, it is for diacritical search and it is not relevant to this question so I am not copying the code for the preference I created etc.
Now I have a row of data in the table with first_name column as Supervisor. If I run the below sql, it gives output:
    SELECT *
      FROM test_user
    WHERE catsearch (first_name, 'Supervisor', NULL) > 0;
    FIRST_NAME                     LAST_NAME
    Supervisor                     upervisor
--even the below sql with wild card (*) at the end works fine...
    SQL> SELECT *
      2    FROM test_user
      3   WHERE catsearch (first_name, 'Super*', NULL) > 0;
    FIRST_NAME                     LAST_NAME
    Supervisor                     upervisor
However the below sql queries doesn't give any output, though they should return the same row as above!
    SQL> SELECT *
      2    FROM test_user
      3   WHERE catsearch (first_name, '*visor', NULL) > 0;
    no rows selected
    SQL> SELECT *
      2    FROM test_user
      3   WHERE catsearch (first_name, '*vis*', NULL) > 0;
    no rows selected
--Using query template as below solves the issue:
    select * from test_user
    where catsearch(first_name,
    '<query>
      <textquery grammar="context">
         %viso%
      </textquery>
    </query>','')>0
    FIRST_NAME                     LAST_NAME
    Supervisor                     upervisor
Note that I verified the query execution plan and it uses the index and there is no Full Table Scan:
    | Id  | Operation                   | Name           | Rows  | Bytes | Cost (%CPU)| Time     |
    |   0 | SELECT STATEMENT            |                |       |       |     9 (100)|          |
    |   1 |  TABLE ACCESS BY INDEX ROWID| TEST_USER      |   376 |    99K|     9   (0)| 00:00:01 |
    |*  2 |   DOMAIN INDEX              | TEST_USER_IDX3 |       |       |            |          |
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Up to the above , all details were by way of the back ground...now the question is - it is this the right choice? I am using context grammer using query template. There is another thread on this forum where an expert (Barbara) said that
". It should be better to use a context index than a ctxcat index with a query template that uses context grammar. " -this was said on this question link: Re: Wildcard Search
So I am getting this doubt. However I have good data here that shows that the query doesn't do full table scan - still is it a bad choice? Note that there are several issues with CONTENT type of indexes( as per my limited understanding) - because they are not transactional in nature and so we have to take extra steps/measures to have the indexes updated which seems like a major pain area to me.
My doubt is , did I do the right thing by using query template or should I use the CONTEXT type of index instead of CTXCAT type of index?
    Thanks,
    Nirav

I would just like to add a few comments.
Alhough it is documented that the ctxcxat index and catsearch do not support a wildcard in front of the term, a workaround is to use two asterisks on the left side of the term, as demonstrated below. I provide this only for clarification and interesting trivia. I would still use a context index for various reasons.

SCOTT@orcl_11gR2>The only time that I am aware of that there is a conflict between a wordlist and a lexer is when you specify stemming in both. If you are using stemming, you can still use both a wordlist and a lexer, but only set the stemmer attribute in the wordlist, not the index_stems attribute in the lexer.

  • Keynote and multiple choice quizes

Does anyone know of a way to create a multiple-choice quiz with Keynote?
What I mean is, can you create links from a question page (with video and text) with 4 options and then create pages responding to the users' choice...correct or incorrect... then move onto the next question page etc...?
Is there a way to use the Hyperlinks function in Keynote for this purpose?
I plan to export to iDVD and have an interactive quiz DVD...
I remember doing something similar a while back with Powerpoint.
I like to push the boundaries and see what can be squeezed out of a piece of software...

    Sorry for the late response...
What do you mean by "I'm just saving them on my computer". Do you open the PDF with some application (which one?) and then do a save from that application?
You can send your PDF (with the missing border) to [email protected] with a reference to this post and I can have a look at it.
