No playback on second monitor all of a sudden (on several computers here)

Hey Guys,
Just yesterday several of our computer were all of a sudden not able to display playback on their second monitors...
This is very strange considering nothing was changed. Everything is set up correctly, with the monitor switched on and displaying the desktop.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.. at the moment I have resorted to displaying the program monitor on the second one.

Thanks Kevin!
I followed the instructions in that link you sent and that seems to have tricked it back into working...
Here they are below for anyone with troubles:
"I talked with Tech support and they were able to help me solve the issue.  The solution involved moving my program onto the second monitor and then reversing the option setting (Ie, make the primary monitor my playback monitor)... after that I switched it back by moving the program to the primary monitor and set the secondary monitor as my playback monitor.  Seems to work fine now.

  • Full screen playback on second monitor results in having to force quit Premier if a window opens on the second monitor.

Run into this problem a few times now. If I have full screen playback going to my second monitor, and then I try to do something like link media and the link media window opens on that second monitor I can't figure out a way to get to it. I end up having to force quit. Because the link media window causes all other application buttons to disable while it is open I have not been able to find a solution other than force quitting, reopen and disable full screen playback, open link media window and move it to the other monitor and then again enable full screen playback.
Has anyone run into this? Am I missing an easy solution?

You need to set up your Graphics Card Application first eg A and B Monitors , side by side etc.
In my case..a  NVidea Display Application does this from the Control Panel
Then the second monitor will appear in display setting (Premiere).
My second monitor is entirely dedicated to full screen playback display.

  • Windows xp extended desktop not showing up on 2nd monitor all of a sudden

I've used a 2nd monitor as my main monitor for my T61.  I powered down today to move to another location, when I reconnected to my usual 2nd monitor, the screen just comes up blue, the cursor jumps between my 2 monitors, but there is no Windows coming up on the external monitor 2.  Usually everything boots up automatically to both of my monitors.......I've gone into Windows XP display settings, extended the desktop - but still nothing - just blue with the cursor either on my laptop monitor 1 or jumping over to external monitor 2.  Help?

    Try this:
    1. Go to Display Settings and set the Display to setting 1. (Multiple Monitors) and exit settings.
    2. Press Fn and F7 until BOTH Monitors are Shown.
    3. You shouuld be able to select  Either or  Both Monitors in Sequence.
I replaced my BIOS Battery and had the same problem.

  • All of a sudden I'm "Unauthorized" here

In the last few days, I became more active on these forums here, helping out with answers. Everything worked great until now. A couple of answers did not post, then some threads (not all) that I've been involved in are no longer accessible to me. I get a message that says "It appears you're not allowed to view what you requested. You might contact your administrator if you think this is a mistake."
Don't know what's this about. I was not posting anything inappropriate, so its not like someone would have a reason to banish me from here. And I don't have an "administrator." I'm posting from a home Mac or an iPad.

  • I don't know what happened, all of a sudden, the content of here body of my email is not displayed. I can only see the preview lines. I must have inadvertently touched some thing, any idea what happened?

I don't know what happened, the body of my email was not displayed any more. I must have unknowingly pressed something on my I Pad to cause this to happen ? I can read the preview lines ok, but not the mail itself, any idea how to fix this?

Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
    Or...
Double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
Tap and hold any icon until it wiggles
Press the red to delete the Mail app
Press the home twice button when done.

  • Move all windows of an app to a second monitor

Is there a way to move all the windows belonging to an app to the second monitor, all at once? I tried clicking on the app icon in mission control and dragging the windows to the second monitor but that does not work.

No, as yet there's no method for doing this (or the opposite - moving all windows from a second monitor to the main one).  Maybe this'll be addressed in Mavericks?
Failing that, you'll just have to engage in the time-honoured tradition of leaving Feedback.

  • Enable/disable second monitor Mavericks - only software solution.

I am looking for a way to disable a second monitor (plugged into the Display Port of a 2011 Mac mini) without unplugging it. Does anyone know of a software solution?
When I am working I like that second monitor for desktop space, but other times (watching Netflix for example) the second monitor (in my case TV Sony Bravia) taxes the video card to much and degrades video playback performance. It would be great to have a software switch to ignore the second monitor. Right now, the only way I have found to do this is to unplug the display port cable from TV.
SwitchResX doesn’t recognize any of monitor or TV in Mavericks, so the app is useless. It would be fantastic if anyone know software solution (I really would like to have plugged second monitor all the time).
    Thanx

I've been using SwitchResX for quite a while, sometimes buggy but very useful: http://www.madrau.com

  • Sequence playback on TV monitor problem

I've been having trouble getting HD sequences to playback on a connected TV (Standard DV plays back fine).
The tape deck and monitor are connected via component cables, and playback is fine while playing HD footage in the deck. In FCP, I change the easy set-up settings to HDV - 1080i60 and capture footage fine. When I start editing and want the footage to playback on the monitor, all my video playback options are grayed out under the Audio/Video Settings (except for Desktop Preview). The only way I've been successful in getting my HD sequences to playback on the TV is by changing the easy setup back to DV-NTSC while editing. However, doing it this way letterboxes the video on the monitor and degrades the footage. Any help would be appreciated.

That is the only way you are going to get HDV footage to play out via firewire...and show up on an SD monitor. By letting FCP downconvert the signal to a DV one...and not a good one at that. This is only meant to allow you to get an image onto an external monitor so that you can see your footage...basically a client monitor.
To get HDV out nicely to a monitor you need an HD capture card...
    #25 HDV external Monitor Viewing
Shane's Stock Answer #25 - HDV external Monitor Viewing
To view HDV on an external monitor you are going to need to purchase a capture card, like the ones Decklink (www.decklink.com) or AJA (www.aja.com) offer. They will both play out HDV in real time. The catch is that you cannot view this on a regular TV or NTSC monitor. Since this is HD, an HD monitor will be needed. HOWEVER, both cards are capable of down converting the signal so that it can be displayed on an SD monitor. This won't be color accurate
HDV cannot be played out of FCP via Firewire because it's Long GOP structure is too taxing on your processors to spare the system resources needed to drive an external monitor.
The best option you have is the Matrox MXO...$1000. This coupled with an Apple 23" display gets you color correction quality...but, it isn't compatible with COLOR yet. www.matrox.com
And there are the Decklink Intensity and Intensity PRO cards as well.

  • Disable Spaces for second monitor

    Hi there,
I wonder if it's possible to deactivat Spaces for my second monitor, because I primarily use it for my chat applications, so I don't have to switch back and forth.
    Thanks in advance

I'm really surprised not more people are talking about this. Apple? You have a solution? Cause right now Spaces is un-usable. I use it on a machine at work and LOVE it! I only need 4 spaces, but with the dual monitor all of the sudden i have 8 spaces of different sizes and it *****.
by the way, that last word that i can't believe apple blanked out is " s-u-c-k-s"

  • Second monitor canvas preview

I have a Sony TV that has HDMI in and I would like to use this as a preview monitor. Can I just run a DVI/HDMI cable from the tower to the tv? Or is there another way?

All this does is create a second computer desktop hanging off of the computer graphics card, is this what the OP wants?

  • 27" ACD as second monitor -- cannot adjust brightness

I've connected a 27" LED ACD to my 27" iMac as a second monitor, but the keyboard commands for adjusting brightness do not affect the cinema display. I understand a common cause for this is that the USB isn't connected, but mine is and I can verify it is working because I have an external HD connected to the USB port of the ACD, and the iMac recognizes that it is connected.
Also, if I go into Display Preferences then I do see the Brightness slider for the second monitor. This is currently the only way I can adjust the brightness of that monitor.

True, Unless there's a shortcut for that, the only way to adjust the brightness of the second monitor is by using the display preferences . same here with a MBP / 27" display.

  • TS2755 I don't have an iPhone. My friend does and we have been texting for 5 months now and all of a sudden I can't revcieve her messages. I can message any other iPhone no problem and she has no problem texting other people as well. What is happening?

I don't have an iPhone. My friend does and we have been texting for 6 months and havn't had any problems. All of a sudden I cannot get her text messages. She revieces mine but i cannot recieve her's. I can also text other iPhone users with no difficulty at all.
    What is happening?

I would have your friend first do a reset on her iPhone. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. Also, SMS is a carrier feature and if she is having trouble, she might want to contact her carrier and have them double check her account provisioning. It might just need a reset on their end.

  • How to connect a second monitor/TV to HP ENVY Beats All-In-One

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could tell me if it is even possible to connect a second monitor to the HP ENVY Beats All-In-One Desktop PC, because I'm trying to connect my TV as the second monitor through HDMI and I've tried everything that I could, but have come up empty handed?
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
What is the model/product of your AIO machine ? I many cases, you can't use HDMI port to connect to a TV because it is HDMI IN port. You need USB - HDMI converter/adapter to connect to a TV (or monitor).
    Regards.
