No playback thru iphone or ipod speakers

Thru the app Remote, I have access on an iphone and an ipod to all the music on on my MacBook Pro. When using either device I only get playback through the laptop and not the iphone or ipod. How come?

This has been a big topic here on the discussion boards, at this time the iphone will not do play back through a computer. I would recommend that you provide your feedback on this.

  • Streaming music from iphone 3GS ipod to powered speakers

Can I stream music to my powered speakers(attached to an Airport Express) from the IPhone 3GS iPod?
Is there an app made to do this?

At the moment, no. I would suggest submitting feedback to Apple if you want this feature.

  • HT4325 Can anyone please tell me if there is an app that allows me to control multiple speakers on my iPad, iPhone or IPod?

Can anyone please tell me if there is an app that allows me to control multiple speakers, via multiple airport express, on my iPad, iPhone or IPod? Thanks!

You can use the camera connection kit to connect, but there's no protocol for any sort of data or file transfer beyond properly named photos and videos. You can plug them in but they won't do anything.
The only printing the iPad  natively supports is air print to specific printers, or printing to wifi printers with third party apps. You cannot use flash drives for data transfer (beyond the mentioned photos and videos)

  • My Ipad 2 external speakers does not work and headphones has popping sound. This all occured at the same time as my Iphone and Ipod headphones only played mono (no, the "mono" option is not on). How can there be audio issue for all these devices?

My IPad 2 external speaker does not work and the original headphones have popping sound when used. This all occurred at the same time as my IPhone and IPod headphones only plays mono (and no, the "mono" option is not on) with the original headphones, as well as, other headphones tested.  How can there be audio issue for all these devices at the same time?
As you may have noted from the list of Apple devices I own, I believed in the Apple and the products it was producing; but it is hard to believe from my experience and the other voices within the Apple Community that we are all experiencing the same hardware issues. Especially since I recently, I upgraded to an IPhone 4g (no, my faith in IPhone 5 series is very little) and is experiencing the same audio problem as described above. So now, I am off to the Apple store again to be told that it’s a hardware problem on new IPhone. Really? Apple, what happen to the pride in the product you were producing?

Everyone does things a little differently. I love to "jam " along with iTunes ( or old Lp's) . Always have. That's where/how I've learned to play .
I'm sure leonieDF is giving a proper way to jam along on a keyboard with an iTune. He blows my mind all the time with what he knows. Nuff respects to him !
What I do is make a GB project I call "Jam With". I'll make several new tracks that are blank. Just has a few instruments named in the blank tracks. You can change those per song ...
Because I'm not concerned about changing the pitch / key.... of the iTune or the tempo ... I can simply play along with it.

  • Bose Sound Docks are no longer compatible with Apple iPhones or iPods?

When plugging my iPhone 4S or 5, or my iPod 3rd Gen or 7th Gen into my Bose Sound Dock, I recieve a message that reads, "This iPhone/iPod is not compatible with this accessory" and will not play stored music.
    Background Info:
         - The Bose Sound Dock was designed to support Apple products.
         - All software/OS on the Apple products is current as of Dec 2013.
         - The Bose product doesn't have update-able software associated with it.
         - Clearly, something has changed with the Apple products.
What can be done to fix this so that iPhones and iPods will play again on Bose products?
I've unplugged/replugged the Bose Sound Dock, and I've powered down and powered up the Apple products expecting that something would reset, but these steps have proved to be ineffective and nothing has changed.

Ok, I was having the same issue which is why I came across this post (in search of an answer). I MAY have figured it out...I have an iPod, don't-remember-what generation, and it has always worked with my Bose sound dock portable speaker, approx 2-3 years. Anyway, a few months ago, the Bose stopped picking up that I "docked" my iPod onto it. A long while has gone by and we haven't done anything about it bc our speaker was out of warranty and didn't want to spend the $100 it costs to repair (thru Bose, don't know about other places $, but I've learned the hard way to stick to manufacturer for high-end brand device repair). Long story short, we really missed using our speaker outside and I decided to send it in instead of buying a new one (new one-year warranty comes with the repair, so I figured it was $100 cheaper than buying a new one). An added note, we tried putting my husbands iPhone 4S on the dock and it didn't read it, either; the Bose didn't charge either device, didn't acknowledge in anyway that a device was on the dock attachment piece. Back to present day... I got my speaker back from Bose, and I was so happy to try it out. I put my iPod on the attachment, and voila! It charged the iPod (so clearly it registered that a device was attached), but DID NOT PLAY MUSIC....Exact same message about incompatibility. So, when my husband got home, we tried his phone (this is last week, literally, and I was mad thinking it was the recent apple software update and that I just threw away $100). Guess what? His phone worked! Pandora, his music, you name it. When I called Bose and suggested it could be a software update issue? They replied it wasn't, that the sound dock works with the devices after update, but the piece was still bad, as it was not working correctly if it was not playing the iPod, regardless of the new update, and/or what generation it was. So my thoughts are that it is the attachment where you sit your device on the Bose that has gone faulty. I packaged up my speaker and it's going backs to Bose at their expense to repair. It stinks that I won't have it for Christmas to play music as we enjoy the outdoors, but at this point, I will just be content if they get it to work again!

  • New Mac can't transfer songs from library to iPhone or iPods

I just bought a new Mac Mini because my iBook died. My iTunes library is stored on an external hard drive. I can see the library in iTunes, but when I try to move them to my iPhone or iPods I get an error message. It states that the new computer must be authorized. I do the authorization process and it tells me that this is computer of 2 of the 5 that I can authorize to play music and it is authorized. But, I can play the songs thru iTunes, but can't transfer them to any other devices.
The majority of the music in my library wasn't purchased thru iTunes. It is music ripped from purchased CD's to the hard drive and then imported into my library. I have had no problems for the last 5 years with this library on the laptop.
Any ideas on what I am doing wrong, or suggestions on how to solve the problem?
Thank you in advance for any help.
    Angela

IS your ipod in Automatic mode or Manual.. Meaning if it is in manual mode you must transfer the songs manually. TO change - With ipod connected go to edit - preferences - ipod from that you ca select whether you wat automatic "yes" or manual

  • Can I share purchased apps on unlimited iphones or ipods?

People say that you can authorize 5 computers but unlimited iphones or ipod touches. My question is if you just log in other peoples' iphones or ipod touches and download the already purchased app. Will the number of ipods or iphones limited? (Not going thru the step of authorizing his computer and use itunes to install)

The Terms and Conditions of the iTunes store says:
"You may download and sync a Product for personal use on any device You own or control."
Thus, you can't legally use a friends Apple ID to use his app since your iPod is not under his control.

  • IPhone VS iPod

Almost two years ago I bought me an iPod Touch to listen to my music.  I only bought a 4GB because I didn't really see myself buying 4GB worth of music.  But throughout its use I started to realize the iPod isn't just a music player; I was able to use Safari, get on Facebook, use Twitter and Youtube, and play dozens of apps off the app store.  In other words, it's pretty nifty.
Well like I said, it's been almost 2 years.  The battery is going bad and dies within 20 minutes of use.  I've been planning on getting me a new iPod, but then I started to compare it to my cousin's iPhone.
Now I ain't exactly tech-savvy, but as far as I can tell the iPod and iPhone are one in the same.  The iPhone surely has a bigger battery, better operating system, and can call/text/etc, but as far as general features and use goes they're pretty much the same.  So I started to wonder "Why not just buy an iPhone instead?"
I was wondering if I could just buy me an iPhone and use it like an iPod.  No, I don't want to hook up to no cellular plan, and I ain't gonna be using it to text or call folks.  I'm just gonna charge it overnight, listen to my music, use Safari (I got WiFi at my house), and play my games and use my apps.  I'm just gonna use it like I use my iPod.  I figure the iPhone has better updates though, and not to mention better battery life, and it can run a lot more apps than my iPod ever could.  Plus, if I ever want a phone, I'll already have one.
    So is this possible?

No, not with a new iPhone.
None of the functions work with a new iPhone until it is activated, and you will pay much more at the full retail sales price for an iPhone than with a new iPod Touch.
I am going to use MobileKarma.com to get me an iPhone (or iPod), so money ain't no problem.  As for activation.... are you saying my iPhone won't do anything until it has a service on it?
The current iPod Touch runs the same iOS version as the current iPhone models.
The battery is not much different between the current iPod Touch model and iPhone 5S.
    http://www.apple.com/ipod-touch/specs.html
Music playback time: Up to 40 hours when fully charged
Video playback time: Up to 8 hours when fully charged

Video playback: Up to 10 hours
Audio playback: Up to 40 hours
There are games which will only run on an iPhone.  And some games/apps run smoother on the iPhone.  That's what I meant by 'operating system'.
And thanks for the info on the battery.

  • What can I do to fix my iPod speakers?

My iPod speakers mysteriously stopped working and it shows that I have headphones in when I don't.

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.

    http://www.gazelle.com/how-to/iphone/how-to-clean-an-iphones-headphone-jack
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

  • My family of four (2 iPhones, 2 iPods) all share the same iTunes account.  Many text messages sent to or from mine or my husband's phones are also received on my daughter's iPod, and vice versa. How do I fix this?

How can I keep text messages sent from my or husband's phone from being received on daughter's iPod, and vice versa? We have five devices on one iTunes account - 2 iPhones, 2 iPods and an iPad.

    Hello Hrd1977,
This is typically caused by both devices sharing an Apple ID for iMessage and FaceTime.  I would recommend signing out of iMessage on your daughter's device.  Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive, tap your Apple ID, and select Sign Out. Then sign in with the desired Apple ID.

For anyone else reading this thread, it is worth knowing that sometimes an email is, or can be, corrupted thereby jamming the works. The solution above is good, but I just wanted to suggest another one.
If the problem arises, go to an online mail access service, such as Mail2Web.com and login to you mail account there and delete the offending message.
    Problem solved.
And George, as this is all entirely voluntary, whinging about no takers may not endear people to you. Besides which, a few minutes of searching on Google would have found you a number of solutions.
