No plusings Install (OMWB)

Hi ,
I am migrating sybase database 12.5 database to Oracle 10g Rel2 database using Oracle Migration workbench 10.1.0.4
I have downloaded the zip file of OMWB and unzip it to C:\ drive and copied the required plugins (Sybase12.jar) to C:\omwb\plugins directory. when i try creating repository on oracle database it gives error " No plugins installed. Please install the plugin for the database you want to migrate" .
When i opt default repository its start two step process
A) Creating Repository
B) Installing Plugins
It complete first step but failed at second step giving similar massage " No plugins installed" .
I have checked several time, i've downloaded jar files its not zip file. but its not working and repeatdly fails to create repository on oracle database.
If anybody faced this issue and know how deal with it please help..
Regards
Amit

Hi Donal ,
Following is the result of dir command. this morning i tried again after fresh downloading of jar file , it asked for the creation of repository , it continue through the first step successfully ( creating Repository ) but failed at second step ( i.e. Installing Plugins) giving similar error massage.
One more thing when checked oracle db , It created 64 objects ( Tables ) under user REPUSER ( on oracle db), which i created for storing repository, any idea what this indicate ? But still i am completely struck because it failed to install Plugins . Is this anything to do that i am using single machine for all , OMWB and oracle software ? Just wild guess !
Plese help ..

  • How to install the plug-in for SQLServer 2000

    Hello, All,
I am installing Oracle Migration workbench (10.1.0.4.0), want to migration data from SQL Server 2000 to Oracle. I downloaded omwb.zip file and sqlserver2k.zip plug-in. I put the plug-in in “plugins” folder during the installation, renamed it as SQLSERVER2K.JAR, and unzip it there, the unzip process generated two folders: META-INF and Oracle. There is a MANIFEST.MF file in META-INF folder, and in oracle folder, several small folders folder with a lot of .class files. I started the OMWB.BAT file in bin folder, I still get the error information: “No okugubs are installed. Please install…. “.
I tried many times, including rebooted the machine and restarted the OMWB.bat ifle, but still got the same error message. It should be a simple problem, but I just can't install OMWB becasue of the plug-ins problem.
Could anyone who installed the OMWB before and know how to solved the plug-in problems help me?
I am thinking: do I need to put all of the .class files in the folders into the “plugins” folder directly?
Thank you very much for your help.

    you should
    1- Download Omwb.zip & MySQL4.zip from Migration WorkBench WebSite
2- Unzip Omwb.zip (suppose it is unziped in C:\omwb)
    3- Copy MySQL4.zip to C:\omwb\plugins and rename to MySQL4.jar
    4- Execute C:\omwb\omwb.bat for WorkBench

  • OMWB Oracle Migration Work Bench for MS Access hints

    Hey folks,
This is a great tool, however, there are a couple of 'gotchas' you might encounter:
    1. When loading data, you may encounter this error:[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] '(unknown)'. On a windows box, just update the ODBC DSN for omwb_msaccess to point to the file you are importing.
    2. Imported rows are not consistent with the actual number of rows imported. i.e. you only get five, but were expecting 100. Check the Access table for garbage data, i.e. values that appear to be garbled or block characters. Delete these rows and rerun the migration tool.
Feel free add other hints to this thread.
    Thanks Oracle!

  • Can not run OMWB

I recently installed OMWB for win95 and when I launch it either from programs or from omwn.bat file nothing happens, only thing I see is little window with workbench picture and in DOS I see JRE running. I like to use it for MS Access migration and I have installed Access plug in.

These messages can appear if the installation of the Migration Workbench is incomplete, there is an insufficient memory setting in the DOS Window properties, or
there are limitations in Windows 95/98 that prevent the Migration Workbench BAT (omwb.bat) file from successfully executing.
1.Change the settings of the DOS window
    a.Choose Start -> Programs -> Command Prompt.
b.Right-click on the top bar of the Command Prompt dialog box and choose Properties.
    c.Select the Memory tab.
d.Change the Initial environment property from Auto to 1024.
    e.Click Apply.
f.Click OK to accept the changes to the memory settings.
    g.Click OK.
    2.Launch the Migration Workbench.

  • No Plug-ins are installed.Please install .....

    Hi,
I have installed OMWB on my windows machine and the plug-in for SQL server2k.i have renamed the plug-in to .jar file and put in the plug-ins folder.I have tried creating a dsn also but still it said No plug-ins are installed....How to install plugin?can anyone help?

In the plugins directory the file should be called SQLServer2K.jar
It could be case sensitive. The file size is about 567 KB (580,984 bytes). Maybe the file could be corrupt? You could test, by trying to open it with winzip, it should open it, should give you a list of class files.

Neither of the above works. It still hangs at 33% completion when it is trying to install Globalization Support for 9.0....

  • Informix 7.3 - Oracle 8i migration: Generate Exception Blocks not offered

I have installed OMWB 2.0.2 and plugin for Infromix Dynamic Server 7.3.
There is no offered checkbox "Generate Exception Blocks" in "Parse Options" panel for customization of parsing stored procedures in Source Model.
(But it was normally offered and working in previous OMWB 1.4.1 wersion).
How I could coerce OMWB2.0.2 to generate BEGIN-EXCEPTION-END blocks around every SELECT statement in stored procedures ?
    Many thanks
    Vladimir Kubanka (alias Bare Foot)
    [email protected] , [email protected]

    Vladimir,
Generate Exception Blocks parse option is available on the T/SQL to PL/SQL parsers (Sybase and Microsoft SQLServer), I suppose you could put in an enhancement request if this functionality was important to yourself and other users.

  • Unable to rename objects

In the OMWB, I am unable to rename objects. For example, in the Source Model under the Views folder, I have a view whose name is 100 characters long. I want to rename it to a 30 character name (something meaningful and not system generated.) The on-line help says to use the menu to click on Object > Rename, but that is grayed-out. The only available options are delete and parse. Both of those work, by the way.
I just downloaded and installed OMWB last Thursday, so this is latest version of software. I also got the SQL Server 2000 plug-in, and it's installed correctly because I have been successful at migrating SQL Server 2000 to Oracle 10g.

    Hi Mark,
You are quiet correct. The OMWB does not allow you to rename schema objects in the Source Model. The only objects which can be renamed manually are tablespaces and users in the Oracle Model.
The workaround is to rename the view inside the Oracle Model PL/SQL editor. Then your view with get generated with the choosen name.
I have found the following in the OMWB help
"You can customize the Oracle Model by: Creating, deleting, and renaming objects "
This will be logged as a bug as not all objects can be renamed. Could you provide a link to the on-line help document which states "click on Object > Rename" as I am having difficulty finding it, and I will add this to the bug report.

    Dermot.

  • Out of memory error in migrating from mysql to oracle

    Hi,
I'm trying migrate from mysql to oracle9i. The hardware and software requirements are matching or even much higher than mentioned in the documentation. I have installed OMWB is properly(hope so). When I try to migrate the desired database from mysql to oracle, the repository, the Oracle model are created successfully. But while migrating data, say for around 35000 rows insertion everything works pretty fine. But after sometime, the migration stops and no error or anything appears in the screen. And in the Errorlog I get "OutOfMemoryError".
I tried to migrate single table also. But I still get this problem after sometime. The tables may contain from 10 - 130000 rows...
I even tried to change the %JRE..% memory value to 64M or 128M in the omwb.bat file and the O/s is Microsoft Windows XP, RAM 256MB.
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Viji,
did the message in the error.log provide any extra information? For example, was the OutOfMemory error prefixed with a string
like "cannot create new native thread" ? My suggestion to workaround the problem would have been to increase the JVM heap size to 128
but this appears to have been unsuccessful for you. Can you send a mail to the Migration Workbench support services
([email protected]) explaining the problem, and attach the full error.log file please ? (please also copy me on the mail).
In the meantime, you can workaround this by migrating the schema only (there is a switch on step 3 of the migration wizard asking:
"Do you want to migrate the table data to Oracle?" - just select the "No" option). When the schema has migrated, you can then use the
offline data loading facility to migrate the data. This uses data extraction scripts and SDQL*Loader to migrate the data to the target
Oracle database. You can learn more about the offline data loading facility from the plugins referenceguide (from the Help menu in
    the Migration Workbench).
    I hope this helps,
    Tom.

  • SQL 2000 to Oracle 8i migration...Urgent

Can anyone help me in converting SQL 2000 database to Oracle 8i version(8.1.7).
I have installed OMWB 9.2 on a windows 2000 machine, but it failed to convert even after many tries. It creates the SQL model perfectly with errors but while converting to Oracle model , it creates no. of errors and also it doesnt convert the oracle model to oracle database perfectly. After migration i do not see migration taken place on the oracle sie.
If someone is ready to help me, let me send you the SQL 2000 database which you please convert it to oracle and send it to me as scripts. Then i will do the manual conversion wherever required and use it.
    Many thanks in advance,
Please help me at the earliest...
    Thiru

Sorry please. discard the above message...
    Turloch,
I have tried that too but cannot see any table & stored procedure creation scripts. Dont know what i am doing wrong but started migrating it manually. If any one can help in generating the scripts for me, it will be of great help. Anyway, i'm going to disturb this forumn a lot in migrating my database to oracle!!!

  • Oracle 8i migration workbench

I have to migrate from Access 2000 to Oracle 8i.
I installed omwb version 1.3 from CD but I could not find MSAccess plugin anymore on otn web site. The actual MsAccess.jar does not work.

    Hi Davis,
The Informix plugin was written against 7.30 and there is a
slight difference between 7.30 and 7.31. See below for a
    workaround to this issue.
The reason for this is that there is a slight difference in
Informix 7.30 and 7.31 (and even between 32 and 64 bit)
for the master table definitions for SYSPTNTAB.
    To work around this issue
    connect <user>/<passwd>; (Oracle8i repository owner)
    create table ids7_sysptntab_bu as select * from ids7_sysptntab;
    alter table ids7_sysptntab
    add ( addresspad number(10,0), condpad number(10,0),
    latchpad number(10,0), lastrowszpad number(10),
    lastrowpnpad number(10,0), extnspad number(10,0),
    ptlistpad number(10,0), localepad number(10,0) );
This will not work with the default repository. you will need to
create a user in an Oracle database and then let the workbench
create a repository. The Workbench Repository is automatically
created when you first connect to the Oracle user (Workbench
    login screen).

    Hi,
Without seeing the full error.log file here are some suggestions.
    >
From Prashant's e-mail it appears that the data dictionary's of11.5.1.
    and 11.9.2 are different.
A possible alternative that may help i.e. removing the 4 extracolumns
that Prashant talks about from the Workbench source model e.g.
Sybase11_sysindexes. This may help you get around this issue
If that does not work. One possible workaround is as follows.
Extract the Schema generation scripts from the Sybase 11.5.1database
and re-create the schema in Sybase 11.9.2. You don't have tomove the data.
    >
You can then migrate the schema from the Sybase 11.9.2database. Once
the schema is migrated you can generate the SQL Loader scripts to
migrate the data. Click on the Tools menu and then select the'Generate
SQL Loader Scripts...' menu item. This will generate Sybase BCPdata
extraction scripts. These scripts will extract the Sybase datafrom each
table into a separate .dat file. You can then use the SQL Loaeder
scripts that were also generated to load this data in to thedestination
    Oracle database.

    Hi Vladimir,
I send you a message from the Migration Workbench team that solved my problem. I hope this will resolve yours too.
    Bye,
    Pierfrancesco
    Hi Pierfrancesco
    MySQL 3.22, 3.23 Requirements
In order to migrate from MySQL to Oracle, you must install the MM MySQL JDBC
driver release 1.2a on the same system as the Migration Workbench. You can
obtain this by downloading the MM MySQL JDBC driver from the WorldServer Web
    site at:
    http://www.worldserver.com/mm.mysql
Copy and unzip the mm.mysql.jdbc-1.2a.zip file to your
%ORACLE_HOME%\Omwb\drivers directory. This automatically creates a new
    directory called
    mm.mysql.jdbc-1.2a within the drivers directory.
Can you please verify that you have this driver extracted to the above
specified directory. Another check you can do is see whether all the files in
    the zip
    have extracted.
Please refer to the Release notes which you have access to by selection the Help
drop down menu in the Workbench.
    I hope this helps
    Best regards
