No podcasts in iOS 7 Music app?

When the Podcast app was first released, I installed it and found that podcasts were no longer listed in the Music app. This led to an issue for me when I connetec my iPhone 4--and later iPhone 5--to the USB port in my 2011 Honda Accord. If I had been listening to a 'cast prior to connection, I could get a about a minute of it in the car before the Honda software identified it as 'unsupported.' By deleting the Podcast app in iOS 6, Podcasts returned to the Music app and I could access them in the car without issue. Now...iOS 7...reminds me that without the Podcast app, I will not be able to listen to podcasts. I installed the Podcast app, confirmed all of my subscriptions were there, deleted it and restarted the phone. Opened the Music app...no podcasts. What is the rationale for removing this choice from me? Now, I need to carry an old 80GB iPod Classic which CAN talk to my car's software and allows me to use the in-dash displays to review the podcasts (and music) available. What, Jony Ives, is the benefit in forcing me to do things your way? Can I have podcasts back in the Music app in iOS 7.0.1, please?

Maybe you should get a new car.

  • Please ONCE AGAIN re-add podcasts to the iOS music app

I don't know why you feel the need to continue to try to separate my podcasts from my music, app-wise. You don't on the Mac - iTunes happily does both! I have a lot of podcasts, so i do NOT want to store them in the cloud. I listen to them on my computer (where I download and manage them) and on my phone, and I want to be able to listen to them within the same app as I do music. It was working. I liked it. Your podcast app is cludgey at best, and separating the podcasts out didn't work well last time you tried it. I wish you would have asked someone outside of your company before inflicting this decision upon us again. Please put them back into the music app.

I use  the Nike+ running app that accesses my podcast playlist on the Music app while I am running.  This latest update of iOS now does not let me keep my podcast playlist on my Music app.  Ridiculous!!!  Why did Apple change this??  I can no longer use my podcast playlist WITH Nike+, because Nike+ can not access the new, not improved, Podcast app.
Please for the love of all who buy and use Apple products, don't take our freedom away to set up our iPhones the way that we want them set up!  Please add Podcasts back to the Music app.....PLEASE!!!!!!
    FRUSTRATED!

  • IOS Music app: Album and Artist bugs

My iPod touch (5th generation, iOS 7.1.1) has several bugs in its Music app. Here is how I was able to reproduce the bugs.
    Go to the Artists view.
Select an artist from an album with multiple artists. (Example album: The Lego Movie; example artist: Will Arnett)
    Go to the Albums view.
Select the same album from step 2.
BUG 1: The album only shows the song by that artist. I should see all songs on the album. In addition, the duration of all songs in the album is limited to the song I see, rather than all songs on the album. (When connected to the Internet, "Show Complete Album" appears. [Screenshot] Tapping it invites me to download all of the other songs in the album, which I already have.)
    Go to the Artists view.
Select another artist from the same album from step 2. (Example artist 2: Mark Mothersbaugh)
BUG 2: I only see songs by the artist in step 2, rather than songs by the artist I selected. [Screenshot]
    Go to the Albums view.
Close and re-start the iOS Music app.
Select the same album from step 2. I see all of the album's songs again.
    Go to the Artists view.
Select an artist from the same album as in step 2.
BUG 3: I see the entire album, rather than just the songs by the selected artist. In addition, the artist at the top of the screen is the artist of the first song in the album. [Screenshot]
Can anyone else confirm this bug? Also, what is the best way to report this bug to Apple?

Unfortunately, the 15-minute edit deadline on my original post passed, so I need to make the following correction here:
"Can anyone else confirm this bug? Also, what is the best way to report this bug to Apple?"
    should be
"Can anyone else confirm these bugs? Also, what is the best way to report these bugs to Apple?"

  • IOS Music app forgets playback position for audiobooks

The iOS music app on my phone repeatedly is losing playback position for audiobooks. I go to the Music app > Audiobooks > BookTitle  and get to a menu where I see part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4, and part 1 says, below the title/author listing, says
    8:53:58  6hr 49 min left
And I touch the title to start it playing, and it shows the little red marker on the progress bar at about the right position for 2 hours having been played, and as often as not, there is a little flash and then the red marker is back at the far left side and it starts playing again at the beginning.
These are books from various sources--today's example was a Librivox download, others have been books on CD, and checking in iTunes verifies that they have been correctly coded as audiobooks and 'remember playback position' is automatically checked.
It's a PITA hunting through an 8 hour long recording with only the crude control of the little progress bar and 15 second skip forward/back to find the spot I left off.
It doesn't happen with the same titles in iTunes on the computer.

Has anyone else seen the same problem?
These are books from CDs or librivox recordings, linked into one or a few multiple-hour files with Join Together.  I have never bought an audiobook from iTunes so don't know if those are handled better.

  • Music Start/Stop Times with iTunes Match causes iOS Music App to glitch

I set Start Time and Stop Time values for my music in iTunes to crop off non-music parts of tracks, but the Start/Stop Times cause the iOS Music app to glitch out when the track streams via iTunes Match. If a track has a Start Time set, the track will get stuck, and repeat the first fraction of a second of the track over and over, seemingly for the amount of the Start Time. And if the Stop Time is set, the NEXT track will glitch out. For example, if a track has a Start Time of 0:10, the track will glitch out for at least 10 seconds before the track actually starts playing. Sometimes the track never stops advances beyond 0:00.
I think the problem caused by the fact that iTunes Match is streaming the entire track so the Music app just freaks out for the duration of the Start/Stop Times.
Has anybody else experienced this? Is there a workaround?
For now, I've just been searching my 22,000 song library for tracks with Start/Stop Times and exporting new hard-cropped files, but this is tedious, takes up hard drive space, and degrades the audio with lossy-to-lossy double-compression.

I'm having the exact same problem and from my research I believe that the old process of being able to turn ITM off, sync your music to your iPad, and then turn ITM back on no longer work.  You are correct that going through this process wipes out your music.  It's only on IOS 6.0 on my Gen 3 ipad because on my gen 1 iPad, I can't upgrade to IOS 6.0 and the old process still works fine under IOS 5.0.
In order to get around this I created a massive playlist (a superset of all my other playists) that I downloaded by using the download button in order to get local copies of my music on my ipad 3.0.
It seems to be working for now but I can't force my ipad to keep all that music local anymore.  If I download other music or movies in the future (and become low on space) Apple makes the decision about what to remove from my local copy in order to fit the new content on the device.

  • Why do lists flicker and jump in iOS Music app with iTunes match?

I recently signed up for iTunes match.  I have a large library on iTunes on my Mac and I'm using iTunes Match to sync it to my iPhone 4S running iOS 7.
However now every list in the iOS Music app now constantly flickers and flashes.  The album artwork flashes blank for a moment and then returns.  It's as if the list is constanly updating.  This happens about every 2 seconds.
Even worse... in playlists the entire list jiggles up and down.  Again about every 2 seconds.
Does anyone else have the same problem?   Is there a solution?

I don't know what the issue is, have had it since I have had match, and am thinking of ditching it because of it.  Now, after deleting and replacing a whole slew of my music with the wrong songs, have the stuff won't play or download from match, even stuff I buy in iTunes. It's ridiculous. Apple should be paying me to be losing my media by using match. It's driving me CRAZY!

  • Podcasts crash in Music App.  Can anyone help me?   Thanks!

My ipod touch is running 5.1 software.  This is a new problem.  I did not recently make any changes or upgrades. Crash happens every time.  Can no longer see or listen to any of the many podcasts I downloaded.  How can I fix this?

    Try the standard fixes:
    - Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • Using foot pedal for ios music app?

    Hi there,
this is my question: I´m a bassplayer and I need to support our band with more atmospheric sounds, like piano, strings, pads... Thus I thought of using a foot pedal to trigger a suitable app within my ipad 2. And I probably need a kind of chord memorizer like the one in Logic Pro or any likewise technique. Hope I could describe it a bit better than it sounds to me :-)
What foot pedal could be suitable for this? What app can support this? I´m quite experienced with those apps but didn´t find the best. Maybe due to the lack of the pedal...
Thanks in advance for ANY idea and a happy new year!!

  • Io5 music app not displaying Podcasts correctly

    Hi,
I have a 3GS 16GB running io5. I tried yesterday loading about 20 episodes of a podcast onto it. I had these episodes as MP3s on CD. I imported them into iTunes and then changed the Media type on the  files to Podcast so they'd show up together in iTunes. So far so good.
Unfortunately when I sync to my iphone each episodes show up as its own Podcast in the music app. So under the music app instead of one entry for Escape Pod with 20 episodes I get 20 seperate entires all named Escape Pod. They're not even in chronological or any kind of order. Any ideas on how to fix this?
    Thanks.

The iPad Music app hasn't shown lyrics since iOS 5 was released (maybe earlier). No one here would know what features Apple is planning for the future.
Submit your feedback requexting these features directly to Apple using the appropriate link on the Feedback page:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback
In the meantime, take a look at the app Groove. Many people prefer it to the included app.

  • Why were podcasts removed from the stable Music app?

Why were podcasts removed from the stable Music app? If it was absolutely necessary to have a seperate Podcasts app, why couldn't we have kept the iOS 6 option of leaving podcasts in the Music app if we didn't download the Apple Podcasts app. Since the iPhone 3g I have never had an issue with the Music app, it's always be reliably stable, yet it's been problem after problem after being forced to download the Podcasts app after updating to iOS 7.
    1) Podcasts app, every version since being forced to download it with iOS 7, has never synced correctly with iTunes. My phone is always missing podcasts that I've set to sync and want to listen to when I'm away from my computer. Seems like this should be a basic function (one that worked flawlessly when podcasts were in the Music app)
    2) Since the last two updates, it has been CRASH AD INFINITUM. Not a single podcast will play for more than a second before the app crashes to springboard. The newest update that supposedly 'fixed' the stability issue fixed nothing for me. What is the point of all the new features if the app won't stay open? I don't want new features, I just want to sync podcasts from iTunes and then listen to them on my phone. Podcasts really should be that simple!
I've killed Apple Podcasts app from the multitasking view. Restarted app. Crash.
I've deleted Apple Podcasts app, and all data, re-installed, and synced. Crash.
I've deleted Apple Podcasts app, and all data, re-installed, did not sync, downloaded a podcast from within the app. Crash.
I've restored my phone, only installed the Podcasts app, downloaded a podcast from within the app. Crash.
Bought a paid third-party app, downloaded a podcast from with the app. Enjoyed listening to a podcast.

    Hi,
This is a Google problem - they have purposefully removed the app.
    Sorry about that!

  • How can I see the tracklist in the Podcast app (like I can in the Music app in ios6)?

  • IOS 8.3 Music App Artist Sorting

This is not a new issue with iOS 8.3 but it does seem to have gotten worse with the new update.  I have noticed for a while that there is a problem with the sorting of artists in the iOS music app and I am not sure how to fix it.  I have the same exact music loaded onto my iPhone 6 as my old iTouch, which is running the latest version of iOS 5, but my iTouch does not have this problem.    There are many artists that are listed multiple times in iOS 8.3, but not iOS 5.  Just to be sure, I did go through and make sure that the artist names were the exact same in iTunes and that did nothing.  I also deleted all of my music off my phone and then put it back on and that did nothing either.  It is very annoying if I want to listen to an artist and have 5 different listings of them.  I have even noticed a couple of songs listed under the wrong artist, even though in iTunes the artist is labeled correctly.  Is anyone else having issues with the iOS music app or has anyone fixed these?
Also, a more minor problem, my music used to keep the last song I was listening to in the "now playing" section even after I quit the music app.  Now, whenever I quit the music app, the "now playing" doesn't show up when I open it again.  Is there a way to get that back?

Hi Dom, I think I got to the bottom of this but it took a lot of time and effort. There were a few songs that were showing up under multiple letters. For example, artist ABC was showing up under letter "A" and right in the middle of the "A"s the same group was showing up under letter "T". I had updated the metadata for ABC so it was properly showing up under the letter A but the cloud version of the song was showing up under "T" for some reason. I had to delete the ABC artist from my iPhone and then hide the cloud version of the artist/albums and then re-sync with my iTunes again.
I had to go through this process for 3-4 artists that were showing up under the wrong letter so once this was done, the scrolling is working again. It was time consuming and painful but I think it is working again.
    Regards, Ken

  • IOS 5.1.1 Music app aborts after two characters entered in search field if Home Sharing in use.

The iOS 5.1.1 Music app search function works fine on my iPad 2 as long as the library being searched is resident on the iPad.
When Home Sharing from my iMac’s iTunes library is used, however, the Music app aborts without explanation after two characters are entered in the search field.
The behavior is always as expected after the first character is entered, but an abort always occurs after the second.
I have tried restarting iTunes on my iMac, and I have done a hard reset on my iPad, but the behavior remains the same.
This is not a minor problem from the user’s perspective, because unless the iTunes library being accessed is very small, it is very hard to find music from the information shown by the Music app on the iPad screen; it would be even worse for an iPhone or iPod touch. Without the search function working on iOS Music app, Home Sharing is of very limited use for me.
In case it is relevant, here is fuller information about the environment:
iMac 27" 2.93 GHz i7 12 GB RAM (Approx. 10 GB free or inactive at time of problem)
    OS X 10.7.4
    iTunes 10.6.3
    iPad 2G 16 GB Wi-Fi only
    iOS 5.1.1
    Airport Extreme 5G v 7.6.1
    Airport Express  802.11n v. 7.6.1 extending network
Has anyone else experienced a problem like this?
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks

Spoke to a "senior advisor" in the Apple TV department.  Her suggestions:  change channel in router to minimize/eliminate wifi interference from other users; move router away from any metal - i.e., DVD player, phone modem, etc.; keep router away from wireless 2.4 gH phones, which are "notorious" for crashing wifi routers.  So she confirms that the problem is one of connection to router suddenly dropping out.
My own feeling is that none of these fixes will do the trick, because it seems pretty clear that there is a hardware component here - the timing of the drops seems like an overheating issue.  It takes 35-40 minutes for the box to warm up enough for the first drop; then each consecutive drop happens quicker than the one before, as it heats up more.  Each time it drops, its tiny brain gets a little more scrambled; last night it finally wouldn't start up again at all.
My suggestion is that everyone who is experiencing this problem, please call Apple tech support and ask to speak to a senior advisor in the Apple TV department.  Make them aware of this problem!

  • Is there a better music app?

I am looking for a better music app than the stock iOS Music app.  For some reason Apple took out the AirPlay button which is a hassle when I am switching from the car to my bluetooth headset and vice versa.  Also Not crazy about the way they now sort songs by artist.  I wish they had given us the option to just list an artists catalog alphabetically rather then just by album.  Lots of scrolling to find a song.
I have Lagu which is close to the iOS 6.X Music App but still doesn't have the AirPlay button and I Use Stezza in the car because big buttons.
Are there any music apps that still include the AirPlay button for switching audio out?

I just discovered (Did some more digging here in the forums) that the AirPlay option is in the control panel.
Connect iPhone to bluetooth, Play Song, Swipe up on control panel, Tap Airplay section of control panel, change output, swipe down.
It works, but is way more swiping than is necessary in my opinion.  I wish they would put AirPlay back in Now Playing screen.  They would just need to push the Repeat All, Create and Shuffle All options together a bit and put the AirPlay button back on the bottom of the screen.

  • IOS Music, iCloud Match songs cut off

I've ripped about 10 CDs on my Mac. They upload from my iMac to iTunes Match. I can play them and download them on another Mac, but they do not play on my iPhone. I get about a minute, then silence for the balance of the song. All OS and iTunes up to date. I've tried deleting the library on my phone, turning iTunes match off and on on iPhone. I have deleted the songs and re-uploaded them. I need help on this one. Why will they play and download on another Mac, but not my iPhone?

    Found a solution!
PROBLEM: Ripped CDs play fine on the source machine, they will stream and download to other machines via iTunes Match, but they either: A) play partially on iOS, then go silent, or B) play and then jump to the next track while displaying the prior track. Very annoying.
WORK AROUNDS: A) Manage Muic without iTunes Match via USB cable or B) Download the tracks... they will still fail in iOS Music app, but they will play in Amazon Cloud Player app.
CAUSE?: I think the mischief begins by adding songs to iTunes by drag-and-drop or by having the iTunes Match scan in iTunes interrupted.
SOLUTION: What worked for me is the following:
    1) Back up for safety.
    2) Have an empty trash can... that makes it simple.
    3) Locate the "Automatically add to iTunes" folder at the root level of your iTunes folder.
    4) Delete the tracks from iTunes with the option+delete method and tick the "Remove from iCloud option." Have the tracks put into the trash can.
    5) Quit iTunes
    6) Open the "Automatically Add..." folder.
    7) Move the tracks from the trash can to the "Automatically Add.." folder.
    8) Restart iTunes.
    9) Let iTunes do it's match thing, which may take a while. Do something else while it's running. Read a book, volunteer at an animal shelter.
    <time passes>
    10) Check out the new tunes on your iOS device. They play now!
    Hooray!
