No portrait photos in photo page problem

I was just trying to make a photo page in iWeb (as I have done in the past). I start in iPhoto by selecting an event, and then click on the iWeb icon selecting photo page. Export starts, says 92 images. In iWeb, there are only 42. After almost going crazy, I think I figured it out. Only landscape photos are actually showing up in iWeb, portrait ones are missing!
This is a site started in iWeb 1, but I have modified it in the past and already published, but not noticed this problem. I also changed template to no avail. When trying to add the missing portrait pictures from the media browser, they do not get added, only a text box with the photo file name. Also, they do not cause the other pictures to be reshuffled. If I pick a landscape picture, that photo can be added (and the pics regroup while dragging the photo around)
Has anyone else seen something like this? Solutions?

  • Problem publishing Photo page with iWeb 08

    Hello,
    I have a problem when publishing photo pages with iWeb 08. Upload starts and then I get the error message that iWeb encountered a problem while publishing. The funny thing is that I can see
    the photo page in Safari. The only problem is that when starting the slide show I can not see the
    forward/backward buttons. Publishing a photo page with iWeb from a .me web photo gallery works without any error message, but still when starting the slideshow the navigation buttons are not displayed. Actually if you click on the place where the navigation buttons are supposed to be,
    you can go picture forward/backward. Any idea ?

    I am having the same issue, except I do not get any error messages when publishing to a folder. Clicking on the "index" file within the folder will open the photo page in both Safari and Firefox. Everything functions as designed except no forward/backward/pause buttons are visible below the slideshow. There are text box outlines with a question mark where these buttons are supposed to be located, and I can pause, advance or reverse slides. Eventually these question mark outlines disappear and stay disappeared.
    The end result is there are no intuitive graphic indicators on the slide show to even suggest to the viewer that he/she has some control over the presentation. I don't believe I can add explanatory text boxes to the slide show to compensate for the missing icons. This lack of visible control elements in the slide show is a huge issue. I am reasonable sure the problem does not reside within my computer. I've also reviewed inspector control options for a photo page/slide show and haven't gotten any combination of check boxes to make a difference.
    I'm beginning to think this may be an unexpected conflict that was contained within a recent software update. It might well be worth a close look at programming code by Apple technicians. In the meantime, can anyone offer a clue as to what might be going on?

    I am using elements & premiere 12 on my PC using windows 7.  My problem is that photos in portrait view in slideshow are OK but when I move the slideshow to premiere to edit included video the portrait photos turn side-on and stretch when still in portrait view.  Is there any way to prevent this from happening?  Any comments would be appreciated.

    What is the Output option that you are selecting for the transfer of the Elements Organizer 12/12.1 slideshow to Premiere Elements 12/12.1 Editor?
    If you are using Edit with Premiere Elements output option, are you using the Premiere Elements command to break apart the Elements Organizer slideshow and then applying rotation to the portrait files? Or, it is this more than just a photo rotation matter?
    More on this in the morning.
    Please review and consider.
    Thank you.

  • Changing thumbnail image orientations in photo page

    Hello Guys!
    I have created a new photo page in iweb09 and tried dragging some images from the image folder on my system. The Problem is i have few portrait oriented images but all of them display as landscape in the thumbnail gallery. The flip option in the inspector does not solve the problem too.
    Any suggestions??
    Thanks

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Do those photos display correctly if dragged from your HD into a Safari window? If not use Xee to losslessly rotate the photos and then add to iWeb's photo page. See if that won't produce correct thumbnails.
    Or import those photo into iPhoto which will create a rotated modified version and thumbnail and add that to iWeb via the Media Browser.

  • Photo Page with widened page size

    I recently enlarged the size of my web pages using the inspector so that the layout is more landscape (like a monitor) than portrait. When editing a photo page to fit the wider area (1240 pixels wide) it lays out fine in iWeb, however when I publish it to the web all the pictures only stay within the 700 pixels area and then things overlap and get screwy from there. Also note that I am NOT using a dot mac account. Here is an example of the problem:
    http://bobbydg.net/BOBBYDG.NET/Amnesia.html
    Any help would be appreciated. Thanx.

    No, I tried reloading the page, that wasn't it. Can you send me the link to your page where you did it. Did you see my page? Again it looks perfect in iWeb and once you click on a pic and get into the viewer it is full screen.

  • Photo page without thumbnail strip

    Is there any way to show the photo page with only one photo (this I know, one column, one photo per page) but without thumbnail strip above. I mean big photo, next and previous button, when visitor click on photo next is showing instead of opening thumbnail strip with next photo bellow.

    Yes, by using iweb javascript widgets to turn off the thumbnails row, copy&paste the following to your photos page using HTML Snippet:
    <script type='text/javascript'>
    function checkThumbnails() {
    if (parent.widgets) {
    theWidget = parent.document.getElementsByClassName('com-apple-iweb-widget-detailview')[0].w idget;
    if (parent.document.getElementById(theWidget.instanceID + '-thumbnails_back').style.visibility == 'visible') {
    parent.document.getElementById(theWidget.instanceID + '-view').hide();
    theWidget.p_toggleThumbnails(false, false);
    clearInterval(chkThumbnails);
    chkThumbnails = setInterval('checkThumbnails()', 100);
    </script>
    OT's method has two problems:
    1) when in thumbnails view, top row thumbnails will get cut off if they are portrait mode.
    2) you will have a hard time to match the background if you use texture background.

  • Drag and Drop to photo page creates links, doesn't replace placeholders

    I searched the discussions for quite a while and didn't find much similar to this topic. Basically, drag and drop is no longer working on my iWeb and my photo grids will not accept pictures to replace the placeholder (sample) photos. I will try to explain the whole problem in detail.
    I am a new iWeb user, and I set up a page without any problems at first. Yet when I returned in iWeb to add another photo page today, I have had a lot of trouble. I used the template Photo Page and opened the Inspector and the Media Viewer to drag photos onto the placeholder photos, as the Help pages and tutorials show. Yet when I drag the picture file from the Media Viewer into the photo grid, only a small text box appears that sets up a hyperlink to the photo file on my computer. I've tried messing with the inspector, seeing what the difference is between the placeholder photos' settings and the files I'm trying to add.
    The only differences I can see are: in the Link Inspector's pane I can tell the program is at first making a hyperlink to the file instead of displaying the photo (yet disabling the hyperlink doesn't change anything); also,
    In the Graphic Inspector pane that appears when I have selected a general area in the photo grid, at the top the "Style" , "Layout" and "Caption" options appear, along with a display of a sample photo style. When I click on one of the rectangles that appears with the file I am trying to drag and drop, I have only the "fill" option, which has "none" selected. Fiddling with the options does not get the photo to appear.
    I can see the blue grid surrounding the placeholder photos, so the photo grid exists. I have also tried using different templates' photo pages, but they all have the same problem. I also tried creating an album in iPhoto and importing it to iWeb, but only two photos appeared out of 12.
    So the main part of my problem is not that photos don't appear at all (if I try and insert them they appear on their own, completely independant of the template's style and the photo grid)., it is that they do not work with the photo grid and that drag-and-drop no longer works.
    Any information that could help is greatly appreciated.
    Sue

    Susan,
    Try out the following things. These suggestions are
    sort of the starting point for non-specific strange
    behavior in iWeb.
    1. Delete iWeb preference file at:
    YourHardDrive/Users/yourname/Users/Library/Preferences
    /"com.apple.iWeb.plist"
    2. Delete iLife Media Browser preference file at:
    YourHardDrive/Library/Preferences/"com.apple.iLifeMedi
    aBrowser.plist"
    3. Repair startup disk permissions using Disk
    Utility
    4. Reboot machine
    5. Delete iWeb application (but keep a backup of the
    Domain file!) and reinstall iWeb 1.0 from original
    iLife'06 DVD or Recovery Disks and then update
    directly to 1.1.1 via Software Update.
    These are the top 5 things that seem to garner some
    kind of positive results from people having similar
    problems.
    I am having the same problem Susan described. I've tried #1 and #2 from the above recommendations and still have the same problem of photos not opening in the photo page after dragging them from iphoto. I, too, published a site (not on .Mac, but I don't know if that matters) and now want to add a photo page. Also, the template shows six placeholders, but when I select the photo page only three appear.
    Hope you can help. Thank you.

  • TS3989 Photos are ok in aperture and iphoto but in photostream on ipad and iphone the top of all portrait photos is chopped off. I tried switching photostream off and on but got the same. Only happened with photos added today, all past photos are fine

    I have never had any problems before but all portrait photos added today have the top chopped off. For example , people's heads are missing or roofs or buildings are chopped off. Photos are fine on the camera and on my mac in iphoto and aperture. Switched off photostream on my ipad...all photos were deleted. Switched photostream back on and all photos uploaded again and portrait photos are cropped again

    It sounds like while trying to import the photos with insufficient disk space those image files were damaged and not copied fully.  Now that you have sufficient space (a minimum of 10 GB is recommended) the latest imports are good.
    What do you get if you export one of the problem photos out of iPhoto as Kind=Original and try to open it with Preview.  If it appears the same then there's nothing you can to do recover them.

  • Photo gallery problem

    I volunteered to build a web site for a local community
    centre. Part of the site includes a photo gallery for which I am
    using the Adobe SPRY framework.
    Sample
    Problem uploaded here
    I have enabled a debug window so you can see the rendered
    SPRY code.
    You will see that the thumbnails do not display properly nor
    the default main image. Click the "Next" and "Previous" buttons and
    you can see that the main images display properly. So I assume I am

  • IPhoto won't display my portrait photos. Help please!

    I haven't had this problem until recently.
    I import photos into iPhoto from my Nikon D90 via SD Card slot in my macbookpro and I have been having this problem.
    All the portrait photos that are imported display a blank black image on the overview and even when i open the file. However, when i click "edit" in iphoto, it then appears. By editing it or just making some kind of change and reverting to original, the file is then corrected and displays correctly. Or else it just remains black and I can't upload them to facebook, flickr etc.
    Please help me with this problem

    There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
    1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
    2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
    3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
    4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/Library/ Caches...
    5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    If none of these help:
    As a Test:
    Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
    Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • Can a Photo page be used as thumbnail links to movie pages?

    I've made a photo page with say 20 or so photo thumbnails. I have made separate movie pages for each movie. Dragged each movie page link to the related picture on the photo page and sized the button to be the same size as the thumbnail image. Checked that the button is linking to the correct movie page.
    In iWeb, when I "make links active", everything works properly. But once it's uploaded, the thumbnails/buttons, when clicked, open up a new browser window with just the jpg thumbnail.
    Any ideas to get this to work? Or do I have to start over, and lay it all out maually?
    G5 DP 1.8 & PowerBook G4 15"   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    I think the problem may be related to the Photo page template. When you click on the thumbnail, I think there is some built-in functionality to open a new slideshow window or something.
    Instead of using the Photo gallery template, try using a plain page...one of the templates with as few elements as possible...maybe the movie template. Then manually add your movie thumbnails and size them to your liking. then add the hyperlinks to your movie pages to each thumbnail. I think you might find that this works better.

  • Buttons appear as Question Marks in Photo Page

    Hey all,
    I've been having this problem where buttons (Start Slideshow, Email Me, and Made on a Mac) show up as Question Marks on one of my Photo pages (titled "New Photos)
    Follow Link below:
    http://web.mac.com/adventurestorys/iWeb/Site%201/New%20Photos.html
    In the past I've been able to make a small change to the page and re-publish which corrects the problem. But this one is stubborn. Any advice?
    Note that I have already tried the "Publish all to .Mac" and that didn't help. And I do Empty my Cache in Safari after Publishing. Also, the problem only occurs on this particular photo page, the others in the site are just fine. So I recreated the page from scratch and re-published, but that still didn't help. Not sure what to try next. Thanks for your help.

    Cabo23:
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. I see what you mean. The images for the buttons are not located by the page but they still work. Are these special image files you're using or the ones that come with the theme?
    You might try creating a new photo page, select all of the photos from the old page and past into the placeholder on the new one. Do the same for the text, copy it from the old and past into the text box from the new. Then publish to a folder on the desktop and see if the buttons are correct. If so , delete the old page, rename the new one to the old name and publish.

  • Navigation & Photo Page not displaying within some browsers

    Hello,
    I am using iWeb '08 and am having great difficulties trying to get my site cross browser compatible. The site is working perfectly on the Mac in Firefox 2 & Safari but not Firefox 3. It is also not displaying correctly in Firefox 2.0.0.13 and IE7 on my WinXP machine. Unfortunately the error is not just a cosmetic issue. The Main Navigation is not displaying on any page and only shows a bullet point where it is meant to be. The other error occurs in the Photo Template and the photos are not displaying. I am using a "Version 1 template" and did a test with a "version 2" template that provided the same errors.
    Has anyone else had these problems???
    The site is located at:

    You have applied a height of "auto"to your menubar container, which gives it no height at all in some browsers. If you have a clue what height you would like to display for your menubar, give it, instead of:
        <div style="height: auto;" id="p7PMM_1" class="p7PMMh04">
    Better yet, leave it in the CSS file, where you will find it when you go looking for it. You already assign a height there:
    .p7PMMh04 {
        width: auto;
        height: 20px;
        margin: 0 auto;
        font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
        font-size: 11px;
        font-weight: bold;
        background-image: url(http://home.roadrunner.com/~jgigandet/trinity/img/new_bk.gif);
        background-repeat: repeat-x;
        background-color: #000;
        text-align: left;
        line-height: normal;
    Because your inline style of height:auto; has more proximity (is closer) to the element being styled, it overrides the style in the stylesheet and applies the height: auto; instead of allowing the height: 20px;

  • Posting pics on iWeb Photo pages

    hi, i did some research on the issue i am having but couldn't find any resolutions. i'm hoping someone can help me with their experience / expertise. this is the weirdest thing and perhaps i'm overlooking something obvious?
    i have taken digital pics in both portrait and landscape formats. eg. took pics of tall buildings using portrait versus a wide view of a scenery by using landscape.
    as i dragged these portrait pics of the building onto the photo pages (specifically with the 'travel' template), it automatically converts it to landscape. so now the buildings are on its sides when it should have been upright. i made sure that the original pic is portrait and the buildings are upright under Apple Preview. i've looked and there are no options for me to modify the pics by ways of rotate.
    anyone experienced this and know why it's happening? suggestions?
    thank you very much for hearing me out...

    kaisuke:
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Cameras with the auto-rotate feature adds a tag to the file telling applications that can read the tag how to rotate and display it. iPhoto will read that tag and create a physically rotated modified version for you to use. If the a-r file goes directly into iWeb it gets displayed as landscape because iWeb can't read that tag. Some applications can read the tag and others cannot.
    I've turned of auto-rotate in my camera and upload to a folder on the desktop where I use a 3rd party application to physically rotate them before importing into iPhoto. Saves space as no modified file is created and avoids the occasional file getting displayed incorrectly.
