No Poster Frame Function in new Quicktime 10?

Just updated to snow leopard and trying to set poster frames in the new quicktime player. One use to be able to do this quite easily by moving the playhead to the frame you wanted and then selecting "set poster frame" in the pull down menus.
It seems as though they have dropped this feature...
Has anyone had any luck with resolving this?

Agree - that works using the older version; but this is a step back. Apple Quicktime "was" a great "timer" for resolving video motion in 30 frames/sec (.033 second resolution) rather than 1 second increments. Using for sports video instruction and Physics lab.....will need to "turn back the clock" and use the older version...which is fine.

  • Poster Frame doesn't work (QuickTime Movie)

    Hi,
I recently published some QT movie on iWeb and i do set the poster frame..but after published and visit the website..all the poster frame doesn't work...why?

    Hey Roddy,
i do following the instruction you given above...but...still the same..the poster frame doesn't work...
Is the NEW UPDATE of iWeb causing some problem of Publishing iWeb?
I'm facing a few problem...like after publishing the Visit button doesn't point me to me Personal Domain instead web.me.com/xxx
besides, most of the times facing Publishing Error window prompt out
    and
the words of the content doesn't justified as what i saw in iWeb...
    huh...what's the problem?

  • My Poster Frame I set in QuickTime Pro doesn't stay set after export.

I drag my fcp cut into QT Pro. I set the Poster Frame. I choose 'Go to poster frame' to make sure it's set. Then I export it for ipod and open it in itunes and the poster frame is wrong. This has happened twice. Any ideas? Thanks.

Any "Edit" or "Export" will remove many of the features found in the source file.
Things like "Fast Start" (web based files) will be broken if a regular "Save" is used. To preserve them use "Save As".

  • QuickTime files not visible in Firefox (Mac) & poster frame not visible

I created a website with QuickTime samples and uploaded it to an ftp server.
I can see the QT files when I access via Safari (Mac + Win), Chrome (Win), IE (Win) and Firefox (Win), but for some reason, when I access via Firefox (Mac) they do not appear???????? Any ideas on that?
Also, I have tried setting a poster frame, both using QT Pro and iWeb's poster frame function, but it does not seem to be working. I still only see the first frame of the video which unfortunately is a black frame. I am getting a little frustrated with this...
    Please help.

There are alternative ways to add a QT file to a web page that might be of interest to you. Both ways do not require the movie to load with the page which speeds up the page load.
1 - Opening Item in New Window Sized for the Item.
2 - QT Movie Exported out of QT via Export for Web

  • Missing Art and "Set Poster Frame" Images

Has anyone come across this yet? I have a very large library and since upgrading to iTunes8, well over 75% of the artwork or 'Set Poster Frame' images either have been found or I have created over the years does not show up in any of the iTunes view in the main window. All of the art is located in the correct "Album Artwork" folder. To make matters more confusing, it seems to be random as far as what files are effected. So it does not matter if it has been media that I have loaded in or something I have purchased from the iTunes Store. And to make matters more annoying, ALL the art work shows up in the "Now Playing" window. I have run the "Get Album Artwork" a couple of times to see if that would help but it has not. I have also randomly played various songs or movies to see it that would help iTunes find the art. That doesn't work either. Any Ideas?

I'm working on Twilight Zone right now. I'd like to have a different image for each episode: the broken glasses from "Time Enough at Last", or the gigantic alien from "To Serve Man"; i.e., an image that will reflect the content of THAT episode. Then, for the grid view, where you simply see the show names of all the shows you have (TZ Season 1, Season 2, etc.), I'd like the generalized 'box cover' image to display. I've tried right-clicking on the SHOW in the grid view, and then pasting an image into the "Artwork" box on the Info tab. I've then used the "Set Poster Frame" function (as outlined in the help section you cited in your reply) to choose a specific image from a specific episode. But iTunes won't retain my choices - it either shows the box cover image for all the episodes, or show the 'Poster Frame' from whichever episode I happened to first perform that function on. Thank you for your help.

  • Restoring Poster Frames

This is quite a simple question, so I won't waste any time:
How do you *restore the original (automatic) poster art* for a TV Show?
I *used the 'Set Poster Frame' function by accident* and want to undo it.
    Any ideas, anyone?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi,
I'm afraid there isn't a simple way of setting individual poster frames (apart from the method described prior to import).
To change the frame number FCServer uses to obtain the posterframe:
    1. In the FCServer client, open the Administration page
    2. Under "Transcode Settings" search for "thumbnail proxy"
    3. Open the preset "JPEG Thumbnail Proxy" listed in the search results
    4. Under "Paramaters" scroll down until you find the Frame Number (11 by default).
    5. Change it to anything you like, and hit save.
I've changed mine to 75 frames, and the thumbnails are far more useful. I guess its down to how you work, and the type of content you use as to whats best.
    Hope that helps,
    Oli.

  • After publishing I can no longer see the poster frame on QuickTime

I cant figure out why after publishing to the web (MobileMe), I can no longer see the poster frame on the QuickTime movie that I made. When I publishing to a folder on the mac to check my results I can see the poster frame, so it is only happening when i am publishing to the web. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening or have a solution?
    Thanks
    Chris

You cannot delete this icon as its preinstalled on the iPhone. You may have inadvertently moved it to another page or into a folder. I would suggest you look on all the pages and in all folders or alternatively do a search on your iPhone. It will at least tell you if they are still there but unfortunately not where. You could also do a home screen layout reset settings>general>reset>reset home screen layout.

  • How do you set the Poster Frame to display on a webpage with Quicktime Pro?

This is how the embed code is installed in HTML on my webpage. The Poster Frame image will not display when browsing the website in iPhone nor will the image display on the cached 8 image browser window in Google Chrome internet browser. Is there a way to include the poster frame or JPEG image in the embed code?
    embed -- start
    width="853" height="496" src="htp://example.com/mymovie-Desktop.m4v"
    pluginspage="http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/" type="video/quicktime"
    embed -- end

Mark, there's a very basic .NET method on every nullable object:
    GetValueOrDefault
EDIT: Now I see...please avoid duplicating
    questions...
    To be clear:
Put GetValueOrDefault on every nullable field used inside your 'TotalDue_Compute' sub
You don't need to define 'TotalDue' as Nullable anymore

  • How do I change a Quicktime poster frame in iweb?

I have a quicktime movie on my iweb page that starts in black. I set a different poster frame in quicktime but it still displays as black until you play it in iweb and when it's published.
Is there a way to change this poster frame in iweb so that it doesn't display a black frame before you play it?
I guess I could edit one frame at the very beginning of the original movie but I would rather not have to do it that way.

  • IWeb losing Quicktime poster frames upon publish

I have pages with many videos published, and have to painstakingly set the poster frame on every video.
Then if I make any changes and re-publish, ALL the poster frames are lost and I have to do it all again.
THIS IS AN AGONIZINGLY IRRITATING BUG and I may switch platforms just because of this one idiotic bug.
Any suggestions? Or are we just yelling into the Apple support cave?

This is a royal PITA. I have battled this for a long time and have created my own workaround. I too have a lot of videos. I create a video album in IPhoto. Then I create aan album page in IWeb and drag the Album into IWeb album page. I click the album and all of the videos show in the matrix. I set the poster frame like normal in each video. BTW, when you republish, all of the poster frames are reset to the actual 1st frame of video, which is usually black for me.
When you publish the first time, the poster frame gets renamed thumb.jpg. If you publish to a folder, the thumb.jpg resides in the same folder as the movie file. When you publish again, the thumb.jpg in IWeb gets changed back to the first frame of the video. What I do is save the folders with the correct thumb files in them. When I publish the site again, I only ever upload the new pages. Even though there is a choice to only publish changes, It redoes all of the files and folders in the new site folder. I thentake out of the second site folder that I published, the additional pages and upload those additional pages. I do this as I add to the site. That way, the original poster frames never get changed once they are uploaded. And since I save the original published files , I can always upload in case I accidentally republish the page.
    Hope that's not too confusing.

  • QuickTime, Internet Explorer 7 (IE7), and Poster Frames

I've come across an interesting problem when using a QT poster frame in IE7. I have QT 7.1.3 and the most recent IE7 7.0.5700.6, RC1) running on Windows XP Pro.
I'm embedding a poster frame movie in an HTML page. The HREF points to a regular QT movie file (or a Master movie file; it doesn't matter). The poster frame displays properly in IE7. When I click the poster frame to advance to the regular movie, I receive the "question mark" QT icon.
This HTML page works fine in IE6 -- clicking the poster frame loads the regular movie, which then plays fine.
Has anyone at Apple, or any forum member, experienced this problem and perhaps have a solution for it? Thanks very much.

  • Add new chapter marker between a chapter and it's poster frame

    Hi,
I have been asked to do as the heading says. Encore 2 allows me to do this and I have never tried this in V1.
Can I assume this is both legal and safe, or might I hit player problems down the road due to an overlap. This project will become 3000 replicated DVD9 copies so no room for any mistakes. It's also my first 'live' Encore 2 project !
    Many thanks,
    Kevin

    POSTER FRAMES TROUBLES
I want to have a POSTER FRAME chosen from the timeline to be visualable in the main menu for each button...I choose my spot in the timeline>choose Set Poster Frame...BUT the button doesn't change to the video I want in my main menu like it should at this point.
After playing around a bit I have the visual I want in the button as Chatper 2- saved as poster frame but when i preview it it plays from that chapter 2 NOT chapter 1...seems I can't tell it to learn the diff. from the two chapters...
Any Step by Step would be great as to why when I set my Poster Frame as I should it doesn't make the changes....????
    thanks

  • New Quicktime 7.1 - What are the changes exactly?  I am looking...

May 11, 2006 - QuickTime 7.1 is an important release that delivers numerous bug fixes, support for iLife ’06, and H.264 performance improvements. This update is highly recommended for all QuickTime 7 users.
    Thanks to Karl Peterson:
    What’s new in QuickTime Player
Both the free QuickTime Player and QuickTime Pro provide a host of new features. New in QuickTime Player:
    • H.264 video support
This state-of-the-art, standards-based codec delivers exceptional-quality video at the lowest data rate possible, across data rates ranging from 3G to HD and beyond.
    • Live resize
Playback continues smoothly as you change the size of the QuickTime Player window.
    • Zero-configuration streaming
You no longer need to set your Internet connection speed in QuickTime Preferences. QuickTime automatically determines the best connection speed for your computer. If a connection is lost during streaming, QuickTime automatically reconnects to the server.
    • Surround sound
QuickTime Player can now play up to 24 channels of audio. With QuickTime 7, your Mac, and surround speakers, you can enjoy the full effect of your surround sound movie or game.
    • New and improved playback controls
Use the new A/V Controls window to adjust settings for the best viewing experience. Easily change settings including jog shuttle, playback speed, bass, treble, and balance.
    • Spotlight-friendly media
New in Mac OS X v10.4, Spotlight makes it easy to find your QuickTime content. Spotlight can search for movie attributes such as artist, copyright, codec, and so on.
    • Screen reader compatibility
Using VoiceOver, included with Mac OS X v10.4, visually impaired users can enjoy QuickTime Player features.
    • All-new content guide
The all-new QuickTime Content Guide provides the latest in entertainment on the Internet.
    • Easy access to QuickTime Pro
When you use the free QuickTime Player, features available only in QuickTime Pro display a “Pro” by their names. If you choose one of these items, you’ll see a definition of the feature and learn how to upgrade to QuickTime Pro.
QuickTime 7 Pro users enjoy not only all the great features in QuickTime Player, but also the following new QuickTime Pro capabilities:
    • Record audio and video
With a digital video camera connected to your computer, you can quickly create vido postcards to share with family and friends.
    • Share movies
Easily create a movie file for sending via email or posting to a website.
    • Floating controls
Full-screen mode now provides floating DVD-like controls for easy access to functions like pause, play, fast-forward, and rewind. Move your mouse and the full-screen controller appears on the screen for several seconds.
    • Create H.264 video
Use this codec for all your video encoding needs. Create content ranging in size from HD (high definition) to 3G (for mobile devices), and everything in between.
    • Create surround audio
Create a rich multimedia experience for your customers by adding multi-channel audio to your movie. If some of your customers don’t have surround speakers, don’t worry; QuickTime automatically mixes the audio to work with the speaker setup of each user.
    • Concurrent exports
Export multiple files at once—and continue with your next playback or editing task.
    • Improved movie authoring
Editing tasks are much easier with new hot keys for in and out points. In addition, the Movie Properties interface has been completely redesigned to facilitate simple and efficient movie authoring.
    • New AAC constant-quality mode
Create AAC audio files optimized for constant quality rather than a constant bit rate for a consistently high-quality listening experience.
    • Conform to Aperture
View a movie’s aperture mode, and choose to have the movie conform to new aperture settings, including pixel shape.
    • Deinterlace Source Video
When exporting with the Movie to QuickTime Movie option, you can now deinterlace the video by setting an option in Export Size settings.
    • 3G streaming
Create 3G files for RTSP streaming that are fully interoperable with other 3G streaming handsets and delivery architectures.
    • Automator-compliant
With Mac OS X v10.4, employ the easy-to-use interface of Automator for streamlining your QuickTime workflow. QuickTime 7 Pro users have exclusive access to a set of QuickTime-based Automator actions for easily automating such tasks as starting and stopping captures, hinting movies, enabling tracks, and more. The combination of Automator and QuickTime 7 Pro also lets you create your own set of personalized QuickTime-based Automator actions.
O.K. I found the new export options ROCK!
