No power off the docking station

Hello all,
My second generation does everything it's supposed to when I plug it in. ITunes recognizes it, and the music will sync up if I direct it to, there's a solid green light on it, as well. When I take it off, however, the light turns off and I can't use the thing. Can someone (anyone?) tell me if I'm doing something wrong? It's virtually impossible to get customer support for this thing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Mine is doing the same thing. These shuffles are pieces of CRAP, this is the second one that has died on me after only using it twice.

    The battery is possibly unable to take as much power as a normal battery. It may need a replacement battery.

    Thanks for the question. That definitely sounds frustrating, we'll need to isolate the issue further to determine if there is indeed a hardware issue with the device. Does the same behavior occur after charging the iPod with the included wall/usb charger?

    In the worst case, it's still under warranty (all 7th gen nanos are still under one year from purchase).
    So, you disconnect it from power, and it almost immediately goes dead?  You can try a Restore... but it doesn't sound like the type of problem a Restore will fix.
    You should probably have it looked by Apple Tech Support.  If there's an Apple Store nearby, you can take it to the store's Genius Bar.  To avoid waiting, you can make a reservation at the store's web page

  • T60 Locking up in the docking station after sitting on overnight.

    I have a user who uses a T60.  When they leave the machine in the docking station overnight, it lokcs up.  The user must remove the battery and put it all back and re-boot before they can start their day. 
    Has anyone else experienced this before?

    I have already made sure the machine was not hibernating and set the power to never turn off anything.  I have also re-imaged the machine using hte same image as the other 500 T60's we have in service.

  • Sudden power off when docking T510 to Dock

    I've had a T510 and a "Mini Dock Series 3" for a few years. It has worked fine. However, I recently upgraded to the "Mini Dock Plus Series 3 with USB 3.0" and have an approximately 50% chance of my T510 losing power when connecting or disconnecting. This is a hard cut as soon as contact is made or broken with the docking station. Occasionally it works (though I'm reluctant to keep tempting filesystem problems).
    Has anybody else experienced a similar issue?
    It looks like in the past, the T61 had a known issue that caused IBM/Lenovo to issue some rubber nubs to cover the metal pins on the docking station[1]. I could try the same here (simply with electrical tape, or some heatshrink), but I'd imagine those pins are there for a reason (to ground the laptop?).

    Regarding the new dock, I checked the compatibility list[2] before purchasing, as the T510 doesn't have USB3.0. I really only wanted to drive two external displays. The T510 is on the compatibility list for this dock. (The USB 3.0 port functions as an additional USB 2.0 port).

    Hello,
    No, when I bought my laptop I checked out the serial number of the battery because it wouldn't take a charge. It's number indicates it was made after the defective batteries and isn't part of the exchange program. Running g4 battery update solved the problem.
    The computer only blinked this morning so I haven't had a chance to go to or call a service center. I looked through the discussion forums under power/batteries and didn't see any posts about failing power managers, but did see something about deleting power manager files and such. I did run a few cache cleaning and permissions-repairing programs (yasu and cache out x) along with running techtool pro 4 and ttp4 didn't find any mechanical issues, though don't know if a power manager is a 'part' that it specifically tests for.
    I do have to visit the local service center for a speaker replacement issue, so could have them test the power manager if you think that is a good possibility

    I used to encounter problems ejecting my W500 from its docking station, even when I did everything correctly.  As a result, I got into the habit of shutting the darn computer off (completely), then ejecting it.
    In his post above, Thetiv states that the W520s might be different, and might not have such complications when they are ejected.  Quite possibly this is true, however, once bitten, twice shy...  My personal 'best practice' is to turn the darn thing off before ejecting it.

    Downgrading the iOS is not supported by Apple.
    Go to the dock manufacturer's support site and se if they have any suggestion or if a firmware update is available for the dock
    Sometimes this works:

    Went through the process last night and my ipod now works fine on my docking station.

    Unfortunately, there is no answer to this problem via this link. It may be that this is simply how the software actually works. It is a design fault in Adobe Photoshop Elements. It is possible to temporarily hide the dock within 'system preferences'. Oh well. Someone may know better.... I hope!

    I can think of only one reason a song would be "converted" while it is being loaded on a shuffle.
    Select the iPod in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES.  Over to the right, depending on iPod model, go to the Summary or Settings tab.  There should be a setting there that says Convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps AAC (the 128 kbps part may be adjustable).  If that checkbox is checked, try unchecking it.
    NOTE:  This setting may allow more songs to fit on the shuffle, but for any converted song, the sound quality will become inferior.  So I don't use it.

    You can't.  You'll have to wait until the battery runs out and then recharge the phone.  It will restart.
    Sounds like now's a good time to get the phone fixed.

    Your question is very abstract, and difficut to understand what you want to do.  Do you wish to control your spectrum analyzer for TURN-ON and TURN-OFF power?
    Assuming your question is so...
    To turn the instrument power OFF, you should look for the GPIB command that can do this in the instrument's operation manual. 
    To turn the instrument power ON, it is very difficult or almost impossible to do so, because your app program will have no way to communicate with your "unpowered" instrument.
