No power. Power supply connected and green live shows current. photosmart c310.

This barely used piece of crap lost all its power shortly after warranty expired.  This is evidently a common problem as there are all kinds of mention of it on the web. It was evident before I bought this thing.  Only solution by HP is to buy power supply for $16.50 and spend $11 to have it shipped.   I don't even know if this will correct problem.  Would like to hear from someone who has solved this problem.

OK, if you plug the printer in and it does not power up with no lights, it could be the power supply.  If you change the power supply and you have the same problem, the printer is defective and you need to have it serviced.

  • My Macbook Pro with Remakes funny noise when connected to power supply cable and no other response. The best description of the sound I can give is the buz the computer makes on startup. Sound goes on and off while connected

I am new to the Macbook community. I own this Macbook since 10/2012.
My Macbook Pro 15 with Retina Display suddenly totally stopped responding. No display, no activity on keyboard. When I connect power supply cable, the Mac makes a noise as if it is starting up, but this lasts a second and this sound comes and goes the whole time the power cable is connected.
    Any advice?
    Thanks!

  • K8N Neo4 Platinum SLI power supply connection

I was wondering if the power connection type to the motherboard mattered.  Does it need to be a 24 pin connection like what is on the board or would just a 20 pin connection, possibly with the other 4 pin connection along side it, be efficient at powering this board?

    Quote from: bluesky_2005 on 14-April-05, 22:55:00
    Hi,
I've notices that loads of people have an issue with power supply & SLI systems (AMD 64). It seems there is no ideal solution yet
Actually there are very good solutions, but many don't purchase the correct power supply at the time of the pruchase of their SLI motherboard.    Same problem occured with users transitioning to Pentium III processors and the use of the old 250 Watt power supplies.
We just like to hold onto our parts as long as possible.    Going with one of the supplies listed on http://www.SLIZONE.com will usually be a safe bet.
As to using the 20 pin connection instead of the 24pin, many have reported that it works.   The additional pins are providing better amp support to the parts that need it, so I would consider a 20 pin without an adapter temporary.   For a $7.00 part fix, it's worth it.
The point is that the copper traces on the motherboard may eventually fail if there is significant current demands and only the 20 pin is used, hasn't happened yet, but it's possible.   The gauge wire used for the PSU though is more than sufficient in comparision, so that's why an adapter will help protect your motherboard investment.

  • 600 watt power supply questions and video card upgrade questions

I am looking to upgrade to a Xfx Radeon 7970 Double D graphics card but i was wondering if the HP 600w psu that came with my Hp Envy Phoenix H9-1350 has a 8 pin and 6 pin Pci-e connector because that is what the Radeon 7970 needs. Also I am wondering if it will fit into the Hp Envy Phoenix H9-1350 because the case seems small but the card is only 9.3" long. I currently have an Amd Radeon 7670 but I think it is time for an upgrade but I am just not sure if the power supply has the correct power connections needed for the Radeon 7970.
This is the card I am looking to get:

This is the computer I have:
    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/HP+-+ENVY+Phoenix+Desktop+-+12GB+Memory+-+2TB+Hard+Drive/6890832.p?id=12...

I understand you want to know if the power supply will have the necessary connectors for the desired video card.
According to the specifications, it lists the case as a mini-tower which is on the small side.  You may need to use a tape measure to find out exactly how much room the system has in regards to length.  It has become much better, but other components (such as the HDD) were at the end of the PCIe slot limiting the length of a video card.  Sorry I couldn't provide anything more specific.  The manuals are somewhat vague as far as the internal dimensions and I don't have access to one to verify the dimensions.
Ordinarily, I can find more information regarding the power supply not that seems not to be the case here.  According to this thread, the PSU has two 6 pin PCIe connectors.  You would need something like this to convert one of the 6pin connectors to 8pin.  As long as the PSU is capable of pushing enough watts, it shouldn't be an issue.  The card needs up to a 500W power supply, so the 600W power supply should be just enough to cover it.

  • E30 power supply/cables and upgrading video card.

I'm thinking of buying a decent gaming card, but I can't seem to find any power cables inside my system. The video card I'm looking at has a six pin connector on it. Also, just in case I need to upgrade the power supply, is the power supply unit standard ATX?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    welcome to the forum!
the E30 doesn't come with a PCI power connector due to it only being qualified to run the quadro NVS, 400, 600, and 2000/2000D workstation graphics cards.   you would need a different PSU entirely.   due to warranty and support reasons we can't recommend aftermarket PSUs in this system.
besides, depending on the GPU you're considering, the E30 might not have sufficient airflow to support it.   these are workstations after all and not gaming systems.
similar advice was given to another E30 owner in this thread.   i'm not sure what makes the E30 such a compelling gaming platform but to each their own.

  • P35 Neo2 FR Power supply connection

    Hello,
Can you use a 4 pin power supply on the 8 pin connector to power the board? And if yes what is the orientation of the plug to the socket.
    Thanks.

Yes. Without undo force it should only fit one way and lock in. The plug has a latch on it and the socket on the MB has a tab for it to lock onto. MB should have had a small bar blocking off the lower half of the 8 pin socket.

  • Power supply died, and now video card is malfunctioning

I had the power supply in a 24in iMac (16 months old) replaced yesterday after the computer malfunctioned (Thought it was the hard drive, tech said it was power supply and seemed to have been correct).
The hard drive was formatted prior to sending it off to be repaired so i get it back and go to install Leopard and the resolution looks low. I install OSX anyway thinking it may be a software issue. But that didnt help. All menus have a slight pink tinge to them. Desktop background is pixalted and just ... low resolution looking.
The video card was fine before bringing it in. I can't see why it would suddenly do this. if the video card was messed up, I would expect it to just not display anything.
The monitor is set to 1920 x 1200 and it is correctly displaying at that resolution. It s just that colors are off and images are pixelated. Dont know how else to describe it.
    Any ideas?

    Here is an image.
Also the background image is sort of pulsating. Really strange. http://uploader.ws/upload/200907/Picture11.jpg
Edit: You may have to right click and open in new window
Edit 2: Just looked at this on my other computer and it looks fine... Ill take a picture with my phone but I assume if the screen shot captured doesn't have the display malfunction that I am seeing, it means the video card is dead? Or the logic board? Arggg.
Edit 3: Picture taken with iPhone so you can see what I see

  • Power Supply - US and UK Electricity

I brought my iMac G5 to London, UK from San Francisco where I bought it. When I plugged it in, the thing blew up!! Big Bang and Big Spark! Two Questions:
    1. Isn't the power supply supposed to work with both 120 and 240 AC?
    2. If someone fits a new power supply here in London, will it DEFINITELY WORK back in the US?

Most Macs have a universal or self-adjusting power supply. However, I have heard that there have been models that were not. It behoves everyone to definitively know the power consumption of their Mac and not make costly assumptions.
If an authorized service center refits your Mac with a new power supply do not assume again that it is universal. Ask them what they are installing, and what are its limits. Perhaps your have a choice. Perhaps it can be fitted with a universal power supply.
Good luck. Hopefully the damage is limited to the power supply.

  • Battery Stops Charging But Power is Connected w/ Green Light

All of a sudden the other day I moved from A - B and removed the power supply to do so.  When I plugged the MBP in again it needed to be restarted and date was set to Jan 1 2008.
I read that you could remove the battery and do a system reset in the older model MBP's but how wbout the unibody?  This is only 4 months old and still under warranty but I am currently in Kenya so obviously not in a position to take it in!!!

  • Power supply connection problems

I have an HP Compaq 6715b and have gone through several power supplies - it does not take long before I lose connection between the male/female connection. I try to be gentle but this keeps happening, what is the problem? Is there a problem at the female end (inside the computer)? Would a docking station solve the problem? It seems to be an expensive solution jjust to get power.
    Thanks
    Greg

What is rating of the AC Adapter you got?
Based on the specification, you should be using a 90W AC Adapter such as 463955-001.
If you were using a 65W AC Adapter, then it is likely the 65W AC Adapter were running too hot and in turn cut down the life expectancy of this 65W AC Adapter.
If you were using a 90W AC Adapter, I think you are just unlucky to get some of the bad units.
Yes. A Docking will help. It is because it uses a 135W AC Adapter to the docking station and your laptop will get power via the docking connector at the bottom of your notebook.
However, there are so many type of HP docking stations and you need to make sure to order one for your notebook.

  • Hp laser jet 1018 not printing. cable/power are connected and have paper. no blinking lights.

What do I do next? The spool File is started and the print spool temporarily displays the file in the printer spool box but nothing is happening on the printer. It's not even trying to print

Did you resolve this?  I an having the same problem (on my Windows 7 laptop)

  • 1. Power supply connected to new Cabinet - how lon...

    2. How long does it take for BT Engineer to install new phone socket once order placed?
    3. Has anyone tried the Billion BiAPC 8200N. I'm happy with the Hub 3 and expect the VDSL2 modem from BT to be OK. But a one box solution with 300Mpbs WLAN might be better.
    4. Finally does anyone here use Windows Home Server to stream content via DLNA and to do backups. A server has many advantages over a Laptop. Not least of all potentially massive storage. I think a WHS would fit in well with my PC, Xbox 360, Android phone setup.

    1. Your guess is as good as any.

  • My macbook pro lost batt charge and will not pwr back on. My charger is connected and green but no luck. What can I do?

I have an old MacBook Pro who's battery needs to be replaced it has since powered off and I can't get it to restart I have charger plugged in showing green light what can I do?

I would just go ahead and get the battery replaced - and, while you're at it, have the Apple techs check out your power adapter and your power unit inside your MBP.
Your MBP should be able to run without a good battery if it's plugged into the adapter. You may have further issues if this isn't the case.
