10gR2 Install Issue: "No pre-requisite checks found in oraparam.ini"
Hello there
I have recently created a virtual machine under VMWare 5 with a base Windows 2000 build on it.
When I try and load the OUI for the 10gR2 install, the command box just tells:
"No pre-requisite checks found in oraparam.ini"
The OUI then proceeds to install the database.
Why am I getting this warnig? The reason I ask is that I can't install the Companion CD becasue of this. The universal installer does not work for CD2!!!
Any help much appreciated
Duncan"No pre-requisite checks found in oraparam.ini"That is normal. For the operating system you are installing it on, there are no predefined pre-requisite steps that installer needs to verify (like libraries required, versions of components, software tools required etc).

Oracle 10g / RH9 : No pre-requisite checks found in oraparam.ini
Hi,
When I was trying to run the ./runInstaller on linux9,
it was saying
"Starting Oracle Universal Installer...
No pre-requisite checks found in oraparam.ini, no system pre-requisite checks will be executed."
can anyone please help me in finding the solution for that ?
ThanksI don't think 10g will install on RH9 - you will need to get AS2.1 or 3.

Failing PATH pre-requisite check installing 11g client
Greetings -
I'm trying to install the 32bit oracle 11g database client on Win 7 Professional x64. I'm stuck with this error when the installer gets to the "Perform Prerequisite Checks" step:
Environment variable: "PATH" - This test checks whether the length of the environment variable "PATH" does not exceed the recommended length.
Details:
- PRVF-3919 : Failed to retrieve value of environment variable "PATH"
- Cause: Environment variable value could not be determined.
- Action: Check user equivalence and whether the user has administrative privileges on the node.
Google tells me this might be related to an excessive PATH environment variable length, so I made multiple repetitions of "clean some crap out and try to install again" with no effect. Currently it is set to:
C:\>path
PATH=C:\Windows\system32;C:\Windows;
And the installer still fails.
I've tried explicitly running the installer via "Run as Administrator" and as a regular user (who is in the Administrators group). No change either way.
Someone on my team suggested making sure the installation target path has no spaces in it. I'm keeping the default path suggested by the installer, which is
D:\app\ladams\product\11.2.0\client_1
where ladams is my Windows user name. I did some experimentation here, changing the install path to things like "D:\oracle" and that hasn't resolved the issue.
Interestingly, if I open the installer log, I can find this line in it near the top:
INFO: PATH has :==>C:\Users\ladams\AppData\Local\Temp\OraInstall2013-01-28_02-19-03PM\jdk\jre\bin;C:\Windows\system32;C:\Windows;C:\Windows\system32;C:\Windows;;;.
So it can apparently read the path at some point before the pre-requisite check, although it seems to be doubling up the contents for some reason...
Later on in the log file, I see this:
INFO: -----------------------------------------------
INFO: *********************************************
INFO: Environment variable: "PATH": This test checks whether the length of the environment variable "PATH" does not exceed the recommended length.
INFO: Severity:CRITICAL
INFO: OverallStatus:OPERATION_FAILED
INFO: -----------------------------------------------
Is there some way to work around this issue, or just skip the prerequisites check entirely? I found something on a blog via google about being able to pass a "-ignoreSysPrereqs" switch to the installer to bypass the check. When I tried that, the installer still performed it's checks, and failed with the same error, so apparently that was bad info...
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for the reply.
I did indeed take a look at the client installation instructions here: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e24282/toc.htm#BABGCIFF
However, it appears to be out of date, or at least not applicable to my problem. Step 10 refers to an Ignore All button:
"Note: Oracle recommends that you use caution in checking the Ignore All option. If you check this option, then Oracle Universal Installer may not confirm that your system is able to install Oracle Database successfully."
I don't have an ignore all button. At least if there is, it's cleverly disguised. The only option I have after the check fails is "Cancel."
Is there another section of the fine manual I should take a look at?

All 11g pre-requisites check failed on solaris 10
During 11g R2 (64 bit) installation on Solaris 10 64 bit, all pre-requisites checks were failed.
Like the first one given below:

Actual Value : n/a

PRVF-7531 : Physical memory check cannot be performed on node "sol11oracle-vm" -
Cause: Could not perform check of physical memory on the node indicated. -
Action: Ensure ability to access the node specified and view memory information.

It seems that oracle installer not able to resolve the name "sol11oracle-vm".
Please suggest.Hi, know that its an old thread but anyway.
Check metalink for *11GR2 INSTALL ON SOLARIS FAILS MANY PREREQUISITE CHECKS [ID 989727.1]*.

Pre-Requisite Check SQL Server 2012 SP2 TCP Port Enabled Error
When doing the pre-requisite check to install SCCM (CAS) using an instance of SQL Server 2012 SP2, you get the following error even though SQL Server TCP port has been enabled, set to static port 4022 on the IP addresses in use in SQL Server Configuration
Manager under Protocols for <SQLInstanceName>: configuration manager primary site and central administration site require sql server tcp enables and set to static port
To resolve this issue, make sure "4022" is also set in the IPAll node in SQL Server Configuration Manager under Protocols for <SQLInstanceName> then restart the SQL Service and re-run the pre-requisite check and you should be good to go.
To avoid SCCM SQL-related install failure, keep in mind that SCCM SQL Service Broker (SSB) (used to replicate data between database sites) is set to port 4022 by default. This is different from and cannot be same as the tcp static port set in SQL Server
Configuration Manager under Protocols for <SQLInstanceName>. For example SSB can use its default tcp port 4022 while a static tcp port of 4023 can be set in SQL Server Configuration Manager under Protocols for <SQLInstanceName> or vice-versa. The
SCCM SSB port number can be adjusted during SCCM installation on the Database Information page. My take it so change SSB port to 4023 and leave SQL default port at 4022 since SQL serves potentially many apps while SSB is used within/by SCCM.
If you are getting errors relating to SQL Server service running accounts, SQL Server Collation, and/or SQL Server sysadmin rights while attempting to install a primary site, unselect the SCCM installation option to install default settings at the beginning
of the install process.
Also, ensure to install important updates and restart the server.Thank you for sharing.

Pre-requisite check for client deletion.
Dear Experts,
We need to delete a client(Customizing client) from our Production system, this client is an additional one apart from our Productive client.
Could anybody please enumerate the pre-requisite checks necessary to carry out before going ahead with deleting the client using SCC5. Any Rfc's to be taken care off, logical systems etc.
Thanks in advanceHi,

Pre-requisite checker script for EBS R12 and R12.1
hi
is it possible to make a pre-requisite checker script (in perl or shell) for EBS R12 and R12.1 in RHEL5 or sun OS??
can anyone help / guide me to do so??
rgrdsI don't know about EBS R12, but apparently the Oracle Universal Installer can use options to just run the prerequisite checks without having to install the product.
E.g. /runInstaller -prereqChecker or -executeSysPrereqs
There is also a specific OTN forum available for installing E-Business suite:

Swap Space error in pre requisite check of NWDS2004(Support Pack18)install
Hi,
Trying to install NWDI SP 18 (SAP Netweaver Developer Workplace ) trial version on my machine with Windows XP.
The installation (after installing J2EE Engine + MaxDB + NWDS 2004 etc), it has thrown some error regarding page size.
So when we check the pre requisites for the installation of the software, it is giving the below error that the swap size needs to be increased.
==============================================
Condition:- Swap Size
Result Code:- Condition not met
Severity:- HIGH
Message:- For the selected services atleast 7135 MB swap space recommeneded.Current value 3921 MB(updated 2005-06-24)
=============================================
Please anybody let me know if there is a way to increase the swap size and fix the issue at the earliest.Hi Gandhi,
Right click my on computer ->Select Properties -> Click Advanced Tab ->Click Settings (performance) -> Select Advanced Tab -> In virtual memory -> Change ; You canIncrease swap space/page file here.

Can someone help kick off the OUI installer. Our customer if getting impatient in not getting it to run. Any help appreicaited
ThanksThanks for the replies...
FYI.
I have cloned an Oracle 9i database on a DR test server.
Now I am installing Oracle Application server 10g Forms and Reports (9.0.4) on Solaris 5.10
This is using a Oracle CD which is for Solaris 5.9 but using twp patches supplied by oracle to run the CD from. So it is able to run on Solaris 5.10. It has been done before but by some past DBA some 5 years ago. This is the first time I am attempting this being a new employee here.
I have implemented these suggestions.
Especially the fact that it was looking for a gunzip utuility which it couldn't find. To make it easirer Ij ust copied the gunzip utility to the place it was looking for, and renamed it unzip. As it was loooking for unzip
This worked and passed through.
Created the temp temp directory as welll so it would not have issues in not writting to the tmp directory.
The error I'm getting is below
bash-3.2$ pwd
/data02/FMSinvoice/appsFR904/INSTALL/ForSolaris5_10/4494701
bash-3.2$ /data02/FMSinvoice/appsFR904/INSTALL/SOLARIS/RUNINSTA -paramFile /data02/FMSinvoice/appsFR904/INSTALL/ForSolaris5_10/4494701/ORAPARAM.INI

I am running humingbird Exceed, and have also set the DISPLAY to my screen.
FYI I am running this from home so the 256 collours error would probably be ok if I did it from work (as I will on Monday)
However I would prbably still get the java error. Should this not be resolved using Exceed though? -
Dear All,
The pre requisite checker run for SAP ECC6 installation on Solaris 10/Oracle using zones gives following errors:
1) Environment variable CPIC_MAX_CONV should be set and the value should be at least 200
I've done this on windows. Used "set env CPIC_MAX_CONV=200" on Solaris. SAPInst does not recognize this.
2) It is recommended to add the entry 'set rlim_fd_cur=8192' to /etc/system. Current value: not available. See also SAP Note 395438. Note that this is checked only for an entry in /etc/system. The value found might not be the effective one. (Updated 2005-06-24)
I've already made entry in /etc/system but again it is not recognized.
Any suggestions please.
regards, SeanThe correct command should be : setenv CPIC_MAX_CONV=200
In csh this should be: setenv CPIC_MAX_CONV 200
..without '='
In bash a simple: export VAR=<value>
..will do.
Permanent variables for SAP environments are usually stored in .sapenv* files in home of <SID>adm
Nelis
Edit: By the way that note 395438 refers to parameter settings for Solaris 9 and below. You will want to look at [Note 724713 - parameter settings for Solaris 10|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/724713] rather. Note the "Please do not use any old /etc/system settings from SAP note 395438 with Solaris 10".

11g grid infrastructure pre requisite errors
Hi All,
I am installing 11g grid infrastructure in a Solaris 10 SPARC 64 Bit
During the pre requisite check, the installer gave failure for umask
Error : PRVF-7612: User file creation mask check cannot be performed for user"oracle" on node
We have the umask set as 022 for oracle/
Please advice.
Thanks & Regards,
RakeshHas anybody found a solution for this ubiquituous 022 umask error?
Our DBA is going nuts thinking we have her oracle user environment hosed, but have ensured her 10 ways to Sunday that 'umask' returns 022.
I thought maybe the OUI was expecting a literal 0022, so I have modified the umask command to actually run a script which calls the real umask binary and prefixes a '0' to the output if no args are passed.
so ... umask would actually return "printf '0%s\n' umask.bin"
Still getting the error:
WARNING: Result values are not available for this verification task

INFO: User Mask: This is a prerequisite condition to make sure the user file creation mask (umask) is "0022".
