No Print menu item in InDesign default menus

Getting started with a sample document my newly installed InDesign CC(2014) and hit Command+P a few times and nothing happened. Looked in the menus and no Print item under the File menu.
Checked the menu customization and InDesign Defaults does not list a Print function. Switched workspaces and still no appearance of Print. Gone girl.
Don't recall reading about this as one of the new features.
Did my Creative Cloud Install go wrong?
MacPro 2011, OS X 10.8.5

No local printers on USB. I'm on a LAN with 15 printers/plotters on our segment.
Also noting that Illustrator and Photoshop Print functions are working fine.
And, under InDesign Edit menu, the Color Settings… item is not showing up either. It shows correctly in Illustrator, Photoshop. and works in Bridge
The parts are in there, but don't seem to be being read in by InDesign on launch.

/Applications/Adobe InDesign CC 2014/Adobe InDesign CC 2014.app/Contents/MacOS/Required/Color Management.InDesignPlugin
The traditional diagnostic rebuild chord - Control+Option+Command+Shift on launching - isn't bringing up a dialog offering to delete preferences.

  • FRM : 41067 Cannot find menu item id ( forms 10g Menus/Forms Conversion )

    Hi All ,
    We have menus converted into forms 10g using the forms migration assistant FMA ( frmplsqlconv ) . Now , we had the menus (.mmb) which had used Shared Menus.
    After conversion observed that there were some duplicate copies of the shared menus created automatically and each reference where this shared menu was used was replaced by the newly created ones.
    Now , when I open the form that uses the menu I get the following error :
    FRM : 41067 Cannot find menu item id
    On debuggin observed the the above error was generated at :
    set_menu_item_property(SHARED_MENU.ITEM,.... )
    Not sure how this worked in forms earlier version and not working in 10g now.
    Could anyone please let me know how to go about to fix this issue and why is this happening at the first point.
    Is re-creating the menu from scratch the only option to resolve the issue ?
    Please advise ..
    Thanks ,

  • Missing "Find fonts" menu item in InDesign CS6

  • [solved] All menu items lost from LXDE menus

    I had problems with loading a USB flash drive, and music cd, and then X windows locked up completely, which led me to deinstall LXDE as well as the applications in an effort to get X windows working.  It turned out that all that was wrong was that dbus and hal hadn't been started after a reboot, so then I reinstalled LXDE and the applications, but now there is nothing on the LXDE menu except RUN and Logout.
    How do I get things on an LXDE menu or is there another gui that is able to build a menu from what exists?  I had hoped to run LXDE, but it looks pretty hopeless with no menus at this point...
    Thanks for any clues

    He's talking about the "start" menu, not app launchers.
    From what I understand, LXDE sets up its menu based on files in /etc/xdg/menus and /usr/share/applications.
    Currently, I have applications.menu, lxde-applications.menu, lxlauncher-applictaions.menu, and settings.menu in /etc/xdg/menus.
    The lxde-applications.menu controls the layout of the menu, adding programs based on the .desktop files in /usr/share/applications.

  • Is it possible to add a single Entry Point menu item to a LabVIEW OI menu?

    Using the "TestStand - Insert Commands in Menu (Application Manager).vi" library VI, I can add all Configure menu items to a menu with the "CommandKind_ConfigurationEntryPoints_Set" option for the "Commands" input.  But the VI is missing an "Index" input to specify a single item from the collection.  (UnlikeThe "AplicationMgr.ConnectCommand()" function, which allows you to specify a single item with an index.)
    The issue is the same for Execution Entry Points and Tools as it is for Configuration Entry Point--I can create a menu containing the entire collection, but not a single item.  I tried to delve into the VI to change it to allow specification of individual commands using an index using the Commands.Insert() function instead of the Commands.InsertKind() function, but without success.
    As an aside, even when I add all Tools to a menu (using CommandKind_Tools_Set), TestStand exits with a warning that 12 "RunTimeMenuItem" objects were not released.  I'm wondering if I should be using the Engine.GetRunTimeToolMenuItems interface instead.  But if that's the case, I think I have to build the menu myself and can't use the TestStand library VIs to automatically run commands when their corresponding menu items are selected.  Maybe this is just a bug in the TestStand VIs?
    I am using TestStand 2010 SP1 with LabVIEW 2014.
    Any advice would be appreciated.  Thanks.
    -Jeff

    I am closing the TestStand Engine, VI Refnum, Quit Application event, and Event Callback, just like in the example.  I get the TestStand unreleased reference error only if I call that VI to include the Tools menu.  The fact that the unreleased objects are "RunTimeMenuItem" objects also implies to me that the problem is specific to the Tools menu items.  Since Tools menus seem to have their own API (which involves RunTimeMenuItems), it seems to me that the VI (or the TestStand Engine?) is doing something with RunTimeMenuItems that I can't see, and is somehow losing track of them (because that VI gives me no visibility to any RunTimeMenuItem objects).  Is it possible that one should explicitly use RunTimeMenuItem objects instead of the menu VI when dealing with Tools menus?  (Maybe the error is due to my using TestStand 2010 SP1 on Windows 8.1, for which TestStand 2010 SP1 is not officially supported?)

  • Difference between InDesign Defaults file and InDesign SavedData file

    Hi,
    I would like to know (as written in the topic title) the difference between these 2 files. I know that preferences are stored in these files, but I need more accurate informations. I opened each in TextWrangler but, even if I understand some infos, I can't understand the function of each of these 2 files.
    Thanks!

    I can't provide all of the answers to this, but I do know that the open recent list is in SavedData, and all of the doc and print resets are in InDesign Defaults, along with your customized preference settings. Does that help?

  • How to change the default position of context menu item? (C#)

    Hi,
    I have included a calendar context menu item with my Outlook Addin. But by default, its positioned at the last as shown in the picture below:
    I need a way to make it as the fourth item instead of last one. Also, I want set an icon for the same. How can I do that?
    Appreciate if you can give some sample examples.
    Thanks in advance.
    Thanks Prasad

    Hello Prasad,
    The
    Customizing Context Menus in Office 2010 article in MSDN describes the basics.
    You can specify the IdMso value of the built-in control after/before you need to insert your own:
    <button id="MyBtn" label="MyButton" insertBeforeMso="OpenSelectedItems" />
    See
    Office 2013 Help Files: Office Fluent User Interface Control Identifiers
    for IdMso values.

  • Need to remove default dock menu item and add new.

    Hi ,
    I am working on Carbon application on Xcode . I need to remove default menu item attached to my application dock menu like ( Remove from Dock , Open at Login , Show in Finder ).
    I also need to attach new items to my application dock menu and want to handle its event.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sunil Adhyaru.

    Well, this is a programming question more than a question on how to use the Leopard environment (you might want to post to one to the programming forums).
    However, basically, you can't remove the Dock menu items that the Dock itself adds (add/remove from dock, etc.). You can add your own menu items, however. Use the interface builder to create a nib that has a menu in it -- call it something catchy like MyMenu.nib.
    Then in the application property list file (Info.plist) add property called "AppleDockMenu" and set the value to a string that's the name of your nib file (without the .nib extension).
    Subsequently, you treat that menu just as you would the menus in your menu bar. That's all there is to it.

  • Disable the default block menu item(Urgent)

    Hi,
    How can I disable the default menu item 'Block'. Please help.
    Thank
    tim

    Hi,
    Why dont you prefer your own Menu with the same icons,which are available in forms6i default menus.If you created your menu with the same icons, you have a right to disable the icons through the SET_MENU_ITEM_PROPERTY built-in(see help in forms6i).
    I have same icons which are available in forms6i by default.I hope you have also that icons.If you don't have i'll send it.
    Please give feedback.
    Thanks

  • Wanting to open a HTML document in users default browser using Menu Items

    I have a couple of Menu items that I want to open up various HTML documents.
    menuHelpItem.addActionListener(new ActionListener()
         public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent evt)
    });I've seen a couple of 'solutions' to people asking about opening files, but none even compiled never mind ran. It's in my parent program, and any solution needing to throw IOException (lots of things annoyingly seem to) that'll mean the listeners need to which never seems to work. Even if it did though, the class would have to and so would all the others. Messy.
    Best I've done is open up a new JEditorPane based on the url of the HTML files, but this is definately not good enough as the font, layout, links are all screwed and if I could fix it, it would no doubt take longer than I have.
    So basically, say you have a button, how do you make it open "resources/SearchHelp.html"?

    "http://www.google.com"; //
    Interesting. I changed my code to this:
    private void showHelp(String url)
         try
              String[] cmd = new String[5];
              cmd[0] = "cmd.exe";
              cmd[1] = "/C";
              cmd[2] = "rundll32";
              cmd[3] = "url.dll,FileProtocolHandler";
              cmd[4] = PronunciationDictionary.class.getResource(url).toString();
              Process process = Runtime.getRuntime().exec( cmd );
         catch (IOException e)
              JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(this, "Unable to load help file. Please try again.", "Help - Dictionary A'la Lewis", JOptionPane.INFORMATION_MESSAGE);
    }and I printed out PronunciationDictionary.class.getResource(url).toString(); before trying it and that worked fine. I click on the buttons but nothing happens, no error which is good, but nothing else either, which is bad. I thought maybe I was just doing it wrong, so I tried replacing it with just http://www.google.com but same thing, nothing happened at all.

  • Why is there a separate menu item for "Page setup" when there is already a tab for it in the "Print..." menu?

    I just can't see the point of having the same options in two places! The "Page Setup" tab from the "Print..." menu item has more options, relating to printer features, whereas the "Page Setup" dialogue box is basic and looks to me to be a little 'shoddy'. I'd have thought it would be a good idea to have the 'better' set of features available, but from it's own menu item, rather than a tab. And no duplicated controls!!

    Firefox on Windows doesn't have Page Setup in the Print dialog, it is in the Print Preview window.
    That isn't the only menu item that appears in multiple places. '''View Page Info''' is in the Tools menu (on Windows) and in the Contextual menu. '''Bookmark this Page''' is in the Bookmarks menu and the Contextual menu, along with the Tab Context menu.

  • Why do keyboard shortcuts for menu items created in System Preferences appear in Firefox menus but not work?

    Given that Firefox does not obey the System Preferences custom keyboard shortcuts, why does it still display those shortcuts in the menus, thereby incorrectly telling users that they will work?
    This issue was raised 6 months ago, but the only posted answer did not explain why the menus reflect the shortcuts that Firefox doesn't obey.

    Outlines are discussed in a series of articles beginning with Creating an Outline in Chapter 5 of the Pages '09 User Guide. A similar set of articles, beginning with Creating Lists follows immediately.
    Reading through the articles, I don't see any mention of a keyboard shortcut or menu item related to moving an item up or down in the list. A search through Pages '09's menus was also unproductive.
    Apparently this 'essential function' is unsupported in Pages.
    Feature requests should be made through Provide Pages Feedback, found in the Application menu (in Pages, the 'Pages' menu), where they'll go to and be read by Apple. Here you're posting to Pages users, who can help you use existing features, but have no direct influence on missing ones.
    The Pages '09 User Guide, a searchable pdf document, is available for download via the Help menu in Pages.

    Barry

  • Setting default browser for Mail's contextual menu items

    I use Firefox as my default browser. In "Safari>General>Default Web Browser" I have it set to Firefox and URL links within Mail trigger Firefox as expected.
    However, if I right-click within an email message on some text and select 'Search in Google' it opens in Safari regardless of the default browser indicated in the Safari preferences.
    Anybody know how to fix this? It's very annoying.
    Dual 2.0 GHz G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Hello,
    I have been searching for the cause of this failure, but have not found much. It may relate to some problems with Contextual Menu Items, discussed within the article at the link below, but I do not know for sure:
    http://www.macdevcenter.com/pub/a/mac/2004/05/28/cm_pt1.html
    and may relate to some incompleteness in Firefox, rather than OSX, per se. The contextual menu items are separate from the default preferences, I believe.
    Btw, while I like some aspects of a Google search with Firefox, the fact that PDF links are downloaded, rather than opened in the browser, make me prefer Safari for searches. Perhaps there is a preference to cure this problem, but I have not looked very hard for it.

  • Indesign CC - All menu items greyed out on new install

    Hello!
    I just installed Indesign CC on a new Mac laptop (I can provide specs if needed), and when I open ID *all* menu items are greyed out. I can't create a new file, open legacy files, or even quit the app (force quit only). I have not installed any plugins. Other CC programs work fine.
    Thank you for your time.
    -FBF

    Thank you for your response, Peter.
    Replacing the preferences and savedData did not innitially work, but it did lead to a solution. I realized that I ported over my old mac to this new one from a backup, and there old versions of preferences from ID (even tho I had uninstalled the program). I cleaned out my preference and cache folders of old and new ID support files. ID then opened with no problem. Hopefully this will help anyone else who has this issue.
    Thank you for your help!

  • Drop down menus flicker; hard to select a menu item

    When I select a drop down menu - Feedback, say, the drop down flickers in and out of visibility as I move down the menu. I can select an item, even though I can't see it, but it is hard to use menus I'm not familiar with. Same thing happens in the address bar with the drop down address 'help' - the bar constantly flickers in and out, and, in this case, when I attempt to use the drop down, the menu items disappear just as my mouse approaches them, then reappear as the mouse moves to the next item.
    I have tried this with all addons (I don't have many) disabled. I have tried the nightly build. Nothing has fixed this problem so far.
    Too bad, since I'm definitely liking the speed and the new look.
    I would consider this a showstopper. I'm amazed that it hasn't been reported before.

    Solved. After browsing through the forum, I found the solution. I have an Nvidia graphics card, and disabling hardware acceleration did the trick.
