No Printer or Internet Connection

First I would like to say thank you to respondants to previous post I made looking for help.
Now I have Solaris 8 installed on Intel architecture and mostly seems to work well. Except I cannot get the printer to work---plugged in with USB connection and is a Canon BJ2100. And I cannot access the internet----I have external cable modem and network card. When I installed the Solaris 8 I didn't install as a networked system---is this my problem..
Thank you, all suggestions welcome, Paul.

I find myself in a somewhat similar situation. I have an HPLJ 6 printer connected to my lpt 1. The print services are running on the solaris 8. Now I tried to install the printer using the Admin tools. It didn't work.
Can anybodu please help.
Q2: I have installed Exceed 7.x on my other PC and want to share the printer that's on the solaris machine from my Windows 2000 PC. How can I do that? I am prepared to do more searching and reading, but need someone to point me to the right direction.
Thanks in advance.

  • 7510e printer loses internet connectivity when it goes to sleep

I own a 7510e all in one printer, I connected it wireless again after having it connected with a USB
cable, I had to do this because my printer loses internet connectivity when it goes to sleep or if I get a power outage, this has been going on since I purchased it last year. I got a new wireless router/modem combo from my ISP server and hoped that would solve the problem but it has not.
I cannot get any apps except for those that are on the front of my printer which are just for small kids. I am now told that this printer has been discontinued and 7520 has replaced it, I do not wish to spend another $200.00 in less than a year for a printer. It is registered with HP connected and I have a Efax # and HP connected address, I did everything correctly but it seems that each time I set it up wireless it messes up my desktop windows 7 home premium 64 bit, cloud services told me not to use  IE 10 but we are ready to download IE11 so I am using IE 10, this time HP support assistant quit working and I could not even uninstall it until I downloaded microsoft fix it and then redownloaded it from HP web site.
If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it, I am not on a home group yet it always tells me I do not have administrators permission to do a lot of things, I am the only user.

I checked and there is no way to turn off the sleep mode on this model.
I included a document for Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection and to try Solution three: Assign a static IP address to the printer. You will need to get your It department most likely to set this up for you if you don't have full admin rights.

  • Printer klling internet connection for all wifi devices in office

    Hi!
We bought office jet 8600 pro and connected it to the main office desktop computer through ethernet cable. This main computer is also connected to wifi router.
All other laptops in office are using wifi router for internet and for printing.
As soon as we installed new printer it started to conflict with alll wifi devices in office. Basically all laptops and phones loosing internet connection for 2-15 minutes. Usually when somebody from main computer is using printer.
I read in another thread about similar problem and tried to fix this by checking firmware version of router and making a static ip for printer. I put printer to 192.168.1.250. It didn't work, internet keep going down. As experiment i made a static ip for my own laptop too -192.168.1.50. it didn't work too. Need help. Thank you!

Sorry. Actually we have 2 routers. First one is working as a connector for ethernet and another one is a wifi router. Printer is connected to the router(connector). Wi-fi router is connected to router(connector) too.
If printer is connected to the router(connector) every 5-10 minutes wi-fi for all computers in the office become restricted (without internet access).
As soon as you are pulling out the ethernet cable from printer, everything works fine.
There are two computers that sharing printer by ethernet cable. Others are using wi-fi connection through  both routers to connect to the printer. Wi-fi printing is working good by the way.

  • Printing without Internet Connection

I would like to be able to print from my Ipad while in 3G mode to a Epson 645 printer which will not be connected to the internet.  I am able to print at home through WiFi, however we would like to bring the printer to our vacation home where we do not have internet access and print to the machine from the Ipad in 3G mode.  Is this possible?

No, because the printer doesn't know anything about 3G. The best thing you could do, provided that your printer is Airprint-compatible, is to buy an Airport Express (or, really, any inexpensive wireless router), set it up to create a wireless network, and print using that. Obviously you would still have no internet connection to the router, but you don't need one to print.
Edit: thinking about this, I'm not sure if you would be able to print any "internet content". You'd have to switch from 3G to wifi on the iPad to print, and that would knock off your internet connection. Even if you returned to Safari, I believe it would just reload a blank page. So getting a wireless router would work for printing any content which is already on your iPad (email, photos, etc), but I don't think it would work for websites.

  • Cannot print from internet connection

For several weeks now, I've been unable to print pages from the net. I can print documents in hard drive programs just fine (Word, Excel, etc.), but whenever I try to print from the net, it loads up the printer pane, but there's nothing to preview and pressing print does nothing.
It used to work just fine. I've tried to figure out if I loaded anything on here a few weeks back that might've affected it and the only program I added was an updated version of Quicktime to allow me to rotate movies.
We can print from our other Mac which is linked to mine.
    What should I be checking?
    TIA

Hi ! Welcome to the HP Forums, and thanks for posting. I understand you are having some wireless communication issues with your HP Deskjet 3520 e-All-in-One series after restarting your modem. I'd love to help you with this. The first thing I would recommend doing would be to do a network power refresh. When the signal to the router or modem is interrupted, the printer will often lose connection without giving any signs of it.Let's leave the router on and unplug the power cable (NOTE: Do not reset the router.), then do the same with the printer, and shut down the computer. After a full minute, plug the router back in, wait for it to fully power up, then plug the printer back in and wait for the wireless light to become solid. Once both the router and printer are on, go ahead and turn the computer back on. Doing this will refresh the network connection. Once everything is back on and running, is the blue wireless light on your printer on and solid? Or is it blinking? If it is blinking it means that it is searching for a network connection and is unable to connect. If the light is blinking, I would suggest following these steps to reconfigure your printer on your wireless network:Setting Up the Printer for a Wireless network for the HP Deskjet 3520 e-All-in-One and HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 3520 e-All-in-One Printer Series If the wireless light is on and solid, try printing from the iPad and iPhone again (you may need to restart these devices as well for them to work). Hope this helps! Please respond to let me know if this resolved your issue.

  • Map Loader Bug Re. Lost Internet Connection

Don't really know how to alert the programmers behind the Map Loader software to a fairly major software bug.
If the internet connection is - even very briefly - interrupted for even a second, the Map Loader software gives an error message.
BUT - big problem - the map selection CLEARS so you can't resume from where you left. Nor can you see which maps had successfully downloaded while the connection was active, so you have to download the WHOLE list again.
Please update for the next release.

    D-Park,
    Welcome to the HP Forum.
If you were using MAC filtering on your router, you would know how to fix this.    If you do not know what it is, you do have have MAC filtering enabled on the router -- or you are not the router administrator.   So -- don't worry about MAC filtering or go find the router administrator and ask to be let in (you will need the MAC address of the printer -- get a print out of the network page from the printer).

    Loss of network connection
Ordinarily I would suggest you reinstall the Full Feature Software for the printer because the installation can resolve a variety of ills associated with a disconnected wireless printer.
Install Full Feature Software - Printer
You did say the printer lost Internet connection -- this is a bit different from losing connection from your home network.  You seem to be implying that your printer has lost its ePrint connection without actually saying you have lost ePrint.
The following document can help with both a disconnected wireless printer that is not cooperating -- even after you have tried reinstalling the Full Feature Software, for example -- and the document has a link to the ePrint Help and Tips documents that might help you if the issue is just one of ePrint and an Internet connection having to do with the printer and its connection to that service.
    Wireless Printing Center
Take a look around at the sections -- you might start at the Troubleshooting steps and see what jumps out at you -- you might find your "issue" is right there and you can find the steps to fix it right away.

  • Can I share my internet connection via wifi AND use my wireless printer at the same time?

Not completely familiar with  wifi capabilities. I have this new setup in my office. I want to share my iMac internet connection via wifi so I can text and check emails using my iPhone (no cell service inside the building). Which works fine. However, I now cannot print wirelessly to my HP printer (LaserJet Pro 400 color). Once Internet sharing is off, I can print just fine. Any other wireless options, or just go get a long USB cable?

    Hi,
It is not a multitasking printer, other devices may keep it therefore the best option in this case: connect it to your wireless router and all devices which are conntected to this router can sahre the printer.
    Regards.

  • Cant WiFi connect HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer to internet

I cant WiFi connect HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer to internet... at least I think that is the problem. I have followed all the instructions on HP Print and Scan Doctor as well as Troubleshoot HP Installation Failure. My router is running fine for everything else and I have entered the static address for the printer into the router.  It appears that my printer believes it is connected to my WiFi (Ihave WPS it multiple times), but when I type it's IP address into my IE nothing shows up. My router doesn't appear to see the printer either. I have the latest driver installed on my computer. I suspect this may be a router issue: new router Asus Double 450 Mbps  N Router (Dual band - but it appears my router is using the 2.4Hz band to communicate with WPS). Windows 7 64.
    Any help is appreciated!

    Hello NRHII,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're unable to connect the Officejet 8600 over a wireless connection. I will do my best to assist you! I would recommend power cycling the router, printer and computer:
    1) Turn off your printer
    2) Disconnect the power cord from the back of the router
    3) Restart your computer
    4) Wait less than 60 seconds, plug the power cord back into the router
    5) Turn your printer back on, wait for the computer to turn on
Is the wireless light blinking on your printer? If so, please reconnect the wireless on your printer by using the wireless setup wizard: (This information is stated here.)
On the printer touch screen, touch the Right Arrow ( ) to display the second navigation screen.
Touch the Setup icon ( ).
Touch Network , touch Wireless Setup Wizard , and then touch Continue . The printer searches for available networks.
Touch the name of your network, and then touch OK .
If prompted, enter the network password, and then touch OK . The printer connects to the network.
Also, as I was typing this post TreeFrog posted some great information to follow.
Have you followed this entire HP document on Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection? If not, follow this document. Please post your results, as I will be looking forward to hearing from you.

  • I lose my internet connection on my XP computer when the printer is connected as wireless.

My new hp6510 wireless printer works great but I lose my internet connection when the printer is connected as wireless. I am using the printer with a linksys router E3000. The network has an XP computer , a win7 64 bit computer. I do not have a problem with the win 7 computer, but the xp computer will drop the internet connection and sometimes I can get it to work by repair of the router connection, but sometimes I will need to reboot the computer. If I stop the wireless connection and use the USB it works OK. I have tried to get help from HP and Linksysm but no help. I would appreciate any suggestions.

  • Connecting printer to TC makes me lose internet connection

When trying to connect my Canon Pixma MP550 to the Time Capsule, I encountered a mysterious problem: I can print from my MBP via TC but I am losing the internet connection (the DSL light on my ADSL modem starts to blink and the AirPort Utility says that there is a problem with the PPoE connection.
Anyone having the same problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have discovered that the problem was probably not related to the printer (even if other USB devices like memory sticks work when plugged in the TC). When trying to do a faster Time Machine backup and connecting my laptop to the TC with an Ethernet cable, the same thing happens - my modem loses Internet connection. Very curious, and to the date noone has been capable to find a solution...

  • HP Envy- does it require internet connection for the air print feature to work?

I am considering purchasing an HP Envy printer, but I live in an area with limited internet service (very slow dial-up).  Does the Envy require an internet connection to work?  I have a Macbook Air, and am assuming that I can just use my wireless router without connecting it to the internet.  Has anyone out there used the air print in this situation?

    Hi,
It should work without internet just a home network should be ok.

  • No internet connection.  How do I get drivers for my printer installed on my computer

I have an imac and Epson R2400 printer.  No internet connection so can't get the drivers downloaded at site where printer is.  I am able to get on the internet at the library and could download drivers to a flash drive if that is possible.  Then flash drive could be used to load the drivers at the non-internet site.  Is this possible or do I need to lug this heavy printer to a site that has a connection.

Epson might send you the drivers on a disc.
Use the email link here >  Contact Us - Epson Contact Information, Email, Phone Numbers - Epson America, Inc.
That way you can install the driverrs direclty on your Mac.

  • Can i run a printer off the ethernet cable connection without hurting the imac or is the ethernet slot only for internet connection?

can i run a printer off the ethernet cable connection without hurting the imac or is the ethernet slot only for internet connection?

    Hi, Alan -
How can I connect to both printer (HP 4050n, via direct connection) and internet (via LAN), as my iMac has only one R45 port?
You can, but you'll need to expand your cabling a bit.
You'll need to get an intermediate ethernet hub, switch, or router. That device sits alone, with the Mac, your printer, and your modem/LAN plugged into it.
If you are already using a router, either separate or in combination with the modem (many modems have a built-in router), then you just need a hub or switch.
I use an ethernet switch (10/100/1000) to let both my Macs (a 2010 iMac and an elderly G4 DA model) use my HP4000n printer and my modem. The ethernet switch is a passive device, meaning there's no setup nor instructing it required - it's truly plug-and-play. All four items (two Macs, printer, and modem) are plugged into it via ethernet; both Macs have full-time independent access to the printer and the modem.

  • Mavericks Internet connected printer filter failed - where

    Help!!
Until Mavericks I printed from my macbook pro laptop to a HP1100c (parallel-port interface) internet connected on my old generic laptop running Ubuntu
Been doing this since Leopard and worked through OS updates since then without any problems. Now on Mavericks I get "Filter failed"
I can't remember exactly how it runs - I know at one point I was using Gutenberg and I have Gutenprint 5.2 installed in /usr/share and these libs
    /usr/lib/libgutenprint.1.1.1.dylib
    /usr/lib/libgutenprint.1.dylib
    /usr/lib/libgutenprint.2.0.3.dylib
    /usr/lib/libgutenprint.a
    /usr/lib/libgutenprint.la
    /usr/libexec/cups/driver/gutenprint.5.2
    /usr/libexec/cups/filter/rastertogutenprint.5.2
but I also have some guten stuff under macports. I long since stopped maintaining macports and it would be a major effort for me to delve into updating it.
Anyone point me in a good direction - like everyone I need a quick fix that doesn't involve delving into how to update macports (is it even running that subsystem - I don't know now). Sure I can deal with these low level things but I have a life too - I just want it to work - understanding macports etc. again is dead time.
Come to that I lost track of how to configure printing on  the ubuntu half of this too (though that didn't change).  It would help enormously if I knew where it was failing - what does "Filter failed" mean. It might mean some shell script somewhere failing - if so where, what subsystem ?
    andy

Have you tried using GutenPrint 5.2.9?
    Hope this helps.
