No Printer sharing since upgrading to 10.3.9

Since upgrading my ibook to 10.3.9 I can no longer print via my DSL modem network (Epson stylus 6240). Printer Sharing worked great until this upgrade. In fact, now when I do attempt to print even from the iMac (where the printer is USB connected) I find it also cannot print unless I turn off sharing and delete the printer from the printer list and then re-add it. When I say it won't print, it attempts to open the connection and relatively quickly indicates printing has been stopped (exclamation point over the printer in the dock). Any suggestions? I've tried the usual troubleshooting stuff, uninstalling, reinstalling, etc.

  • Printer Sharing after upgrading to iTunes 8, Quicktime 7.5.5 and Front Row

    Hi,
Yesterday I upgraded iTunes, Quicktime and Front Row. Print Sharing which has been working with no problems since I purchased a HP Photosmart D5360 is now broken. I have tried uninstalling the printer on both host and client computers, turning sharing on and off, rebuilding permissions on both host and client.
Wondering if any others have experienced any problems after installing these recent updates?
    Cheers,

    Have fixed the problem.
Deleted the printer from the client computer. Reset the printer on the host computer. Used Disk Utility to repair permissions on the Host computer. Added the printer back onto the host computer. Turned print sharing back on.
Used Disk Utility to repair permissions on the client computer. Added the printer back onto the client computer. Can now connect to and print from the client computer.
    Have a good day.

  • Can't print PDFs since upgrading to 4.0.1. It just does nothing!

Since upgrading, when I view a PDF it doesn't seem to be using Acrobat any more. It displays like a normal HTML page without the Acrobat border. When I try to print or print preview, I get nothing. The printer selection window doesn't even come up.
This happens with old PDFs I have on file that I have used all the time, so it isn't any specific PDFs - it's all of them.

Firefox 4 saves the previous session automatically, so there is no longer need for the dialog asking if you want to save the current session.
You can use "Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session" to get the previous session.
There is also a "Restore Previous Session" button on the default <b>about:home</b> Home page.
    Another possibility is to use:
    * [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Menu_differences Firefox (Tools) > Options] > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

  • Canon MX700 Printer problem since upgrade to Lion.

    Hi
Since upgrading to Lion every time I try to print something on my Canon MX700 networked printer I get a communication error. I found that what I have to do to get it to work is to print the document a second time and then delete the first document in the printer queue. This pauses the printer and when it is resumed the second document prints successfully.
Anyone else have this problem or can anyone shed any light on what might be wrong?
    Scanning seems to work OK.
    Many Thanks

you need to upgraded canon MX700 that's support Lion.
you can download updated driver from http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mx_s eries/pixma_mx700#DriversAndSoftware
But remember, you should trash the BJPrinters folder, located in HD > Library > Printers > Canon. This action to uninstall driver canon MX700 that's installed on your mac

  • Problem Printing PDFs since upgrading to Lion

Since upgrading to Lion on two machines (macbook pro 2011 and imac 2010) I have had a HP CM2320 and a HP M2727 produce the following error whilst printing from Preview PDF documents:
    /usr/libexec/cups/filter/cgpdftops failed
The PDF documents are many but here is an example,
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/26737363/Modified%20contract%20Causing%20error%20in%20pr int.pdf
The only way I can print is to print using Generic PCL printer driver. Gereic Postscript also causes the problem.
The problem doesn't occur when printing from Snow Leopard.

I went to the page of your link: Safari 5 without plugins displayed the pdf page perfectly.
Then I saved as.. to the desktop.
Then I opened it with preview, printed pefectly.
Closed Preview and opened it in Adobe Reader (I do not use Acrobat): printed perfectly.
I don not have a HP printer but I tried it on Canon Multifunctionals.
So I conclude: it is not Safari (or a plugin), it is not the document itself, it has to do with the HP driver(s) probably.

  • PDF printing problems since upgrading to OS Lion

Since upgrading to Lion, when I print to a PDF, the Adobe PDF printer pops up as normal and seems to print, but the PDF is no where to be found. This happens when I print from Illustrator, Word, Safari, Mail... Anyone else having this same problem? Any solutions?

  • Printing issues since upgrade to Mac OS 10.6.7

    Hello,
since I upgraded to Version 10.6.7, my Canon LBP3100 doesn't print black writing anymore. Everything else just like printing pictures works fine. Reinstalling the printer's driver didn't help and the printer used to work before I upgraded Mac OS 10.6.7...
Does anyone know when Apple is going to fix this issue? I find this to be pretty ridiculous, they better work on getting this problem fixed because I really don't feel like downgrading or using programs like printtherapy in order to restart the cups-printer-service every time after restarting my macbook....
Thanks for your help in advance!

Canon released an updated CAPT driver to resolve this issue. You can obtain v3.31 via this link. Before installing this latest version, delete the print queue in Print & Fax (select the printer and press the minus button) and then open Finder and navigate to HD > Library > Printers > Canon and trash the CAPT folder. With this removed you can now run the new v3.31 installer and then add the printer again.

  • Printing Problems since upgrading to 10.5.6

We are having problems printing since updating to 10.5.6
    1. We have a HP5000 black & white printer and when we print to it straight from InDesign CS3 it will enlarge the the job. We have to make a pdf then print from Acrobat. (We are connected by Appletalk)
    2. We have a Xerox 6060 Color machine and we cannot print to it either. IT doesn't enlarge it but it just errors out.
I found a way to go around these problems which was to connect by "Bonjour" to a computer that has not been updated yet. Then we can print correctly but at sometime we will have to update that computer then we won't be able to print.
Has anyone else had these problems and/or has anyone found a solution????
    Thanks for the help!

  • Printer Trouble Since Upgrading to OS X 10.5.7

Have had no problems with my Canon Pixma IP5200 printer until immediately following upgrading to OS X 10.5.7. Anyone else have the same problem; any ideas on how to correct the problem? Have reinstalled printer driver, etc. and nothing seems to work.
    Help!!!

That sounds like a major problem with the system. I would consider reinstalling OS X. See the following:
How to Perform an Archive and Install
An Archive and Install will NOT erase your hard drive, but you must have sufficient free space for a second OS X installation which could be from 3-9 GBs depending upon the version of OS X and selected installation options. The free space requirement is over and above normal free space requirements which should be at least 6-10 GBs. Read all the linked references carefully before proceeding.
    1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, then quit DU and return to the installer.
    2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
    3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
    4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
    5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
    6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.

  • Windows clients unable to access File Sharing since upgrading to Mavericks Server

This summer, I have been tasked to upgrade all the Macs on campus to Mavericks.  Including upgrading to Server 3.1.2.  Previously, we had an Xserve that ran 10.6.8 Server and two Mac mini servers that ran 10.8 Servers.  We have a new Mac mini to replace the Xserve and, initially, everything was pretty smooth.  I built the server from scratch, with the intention of using the 10.6.8 server as reference, only adapting to Profile Manager, instead of using Workgroup Manager.
The only problem I had when I started was that I couldn't get Active Directory to create home folders on my Mac Server "NetUsers" volume when adding a Home Folder path.  After playing around with it, I completely hosed the Server and decided to start over.  Now, after a clean install, I can't get any Windows users to connect to the share on the Mac Server.  It declares: "\\MacServer is not accessible.  You might not have permission to use this network resource.  Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.  Account restrictions are preventing this user from signing in.  For example: blank passwords aren't allowed, sign-in times are limited, or a policy restriction has been enforced."  What's more (that I may not have noticed two weeks ago or it just started, I don't know), the 10.8 server that I upgraded to 10.9 also is not accessible and gives the same error.  However, I can access all these file shares from Macs using either smb or afp.
I'm suspicious that this issue is related to SMB1 vs. SMB2 that was implemented differently in Mavericks.
Please, any help on this would be a life-saver.  School starts too soon and I need this running on day one!!!

Had the same issue and spent 4 solid days tracking it down (looking in all the wrong places.)
For us, it turned out to be a problem in DHCP services configuration.
For the subnet under the WINS tab, the NetBIOS Scope had a '1' inserted into the field. Apple's tag when hovering the mouse over the field indicated a domain be insterted.
This prevented the Windows XP machines from successfully registering with SAMBA. Once the field was blanked out and saved, the (one machine) needing to be joined found the PDC and successfully bound to the directory.
Blank out the NetBIOS Scope field in DHCP (assuming a simple LAN environment) and you may be in good shape.

  • Trouble with screen sharing since upgrading to Mavericks

I'm no longer able to connect to my Mac at home from my Mac at work unless someone is there to wake it up. It shows up in the shared listing on the left side of my Finder window so I know it sees it. I get a "Connection Failed" warning.
I have made sure that Screen Sharing is selected and that I have selected "Wake for network access" on the Energy Saver system preferences. Computer sleep is set to "never". I have also set it to start or wake at 8am every day to ensure that it is running each day by the time I get to work. Both Macs are running Mavericks.
I didn't have this problem with 10.8 and nothing else has changed that I know of. If someone is home and I call them and tell them to wake up my Mac it works fine, for a while. For a couple of hours I can connect to it but then it disconnects in the middle of using it and I can't connect to it again.
And regular ol' "Connect As" no longer works either ... unless someone is at home to wake it up. I get a "probelm connecting to the server" warning
    Thoughts or suggestions?

  • Will not print web pages or show them on print preview since upgraded to ver 4.0

when I try to print or click print preview I see a blank screen or just the first line at the top. When I click print I get a blank page.

I ran into same problem when I could not clear the print queue of my neighbor's Photosmart C5580 and had to reinstall the HP softwares. This happened serveral times when he printed email pages which contained embedded content.  The problem started after he installed IE9.  Reverting back to IE8 "fixed" the problem; that is the problem does not occur with IE8.  Also, found out from colleague that Norton support recomends uninstalling IE9 in these situations.

  • Printer idle since upgrading to 10.7.2 on macbook pro

My work uses a Toshiba eS451c copier/printer to print documents. I've installed the latest drivers from the Toshiba web site but I still can't print from any application. The printer just comes up as idle. I tried to pause and restart but the idle status remains. I've input the necessary code when asked and reinstalled the driver twice. Has anyone had this problem and how did you resolve it?
    Thanks.

Yes I tried to add the printer through the system preferences already. It sets up fine but the status remains idle no matter what i change.

  • Problem with file and printer sharing

I just installed a Linksys WRT54G to replace a D-Link wireless router and cannot reestablish my file and printer sharing since replacing the router.  I had file and printer sharing working fine before installing the WRT54G.   All of the computers are running either XP Pro or 2000 Pro.  I have two printers attached to one of my computers that I was previously sharing with all of the other computers on our home network.  One is attached via a parallel port, the other via a USB port.
Here's what I've tried so far without success.
    1.  The IP of the WRT54G is 192.168.1.1, and the IP's it assigns to my LAN computers begin 192.168.1.XXX.  The old IP of the D-Link was 192.168.0.1 and its LAN IPs were 192.168.0.XXX, so I've gone into my firewall and changed the settings for the range of trusted computers to correspond to the WRT54G's IP addresses.
    2.   I've tried uninstalling the printers and reinstalling them, including reinitializing printer sharing.
    3.  When I try to use the Windows  "Add printer" wizard to add a networked printer, it can see the computer that has the printers attached, but it does not see the printers.
    4.  I haven't fooled around with the file sharing settings, but they've all be lost too, so I suspect there is a common problem for both printer and file sharing.
Any suggestions would be most welcome.  I don't know what would be different about the WRT54G that would cause this problem.

Try this to Enable File and Printer Sharing...Turn Off the Router Firewall...Make sure the Windows Firewall is also Off...

  • HT204135 Printer sharing between OS X 10.8 and OS X 10.4.11 ain't working no more since the upgrade from Lion 10.7.

    Hi,
I'm running a 2012 iMac Intel with OS X 10.8., and on this Mac everything just runs fast, fine and smooth.
But we still run also several older iMac G5 that share the printer which is connected to the new Intel iMac.
With OS X Lion 10.7., printer sharing worked just fine, but since the upgrade to 10.8., the old G5 iMac's don't list
nor find the shared printer any longer.
Thanks for any hints and clues how to eventually solve this problem,

    On the Mac
System Preferences > Sharing > Internet
