No Printing because "Themes not Installed"

I have searched the forums for info but noting helps.
The themes folder is where it should be i.e. HD/Library/Application Support/iPhoto/Themes.
So, how do I force iPhoto to accept that the themes are there?
BTW, printing works from Aperture iMac 27" and from iPhoto on the other macs.
Any help would be appreciated.

Look in your User/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder for a Themes folder. If you find it there move it to the HD/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder and reboot. Then try iPhoto again. That may save you having to go thru the reinstallation.

Software installs/repair try to install the Adobe PDF printer but they do not.  No error message; just that the Adobe PDF printer does not show up
I tried adding the  Adobe PDF printer manually.

I have uninstalled Adobe Acrobat /rebooted/reinstalled.  Install says it adds the Adobe PDF printer but nothing happens.
Problem exists for all users including Administrators.
I have renamed the C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86 and C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers\Printers folder.
Both are recreated when I try to reinstall the Adobe PDF Printer.
I can add network printers with no errors.
I have cleared Adobe PDF printer from registry.  e.g.:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows NT x86\Drivers\Version-3\Adobe PDF Converter
I even imported Adobe PDF registry entry from a working system taking care to adjust the system values accordingly.
I also verified permissions for registry keys and application/driver folders were set correctly.
I have completely reloaded the installation software and imported the Adobe PDF drivers from a working system.
Not sure if this an Adobe issue, but that appears to be the only printer I cannot re-add.
Any constructive ideas on what to try next would be appreciated.

When I upgraded to Reader 9.4 I lost all ability to print Adobe pdf's.  Finally uninstalled 9.4, re-installed 8.2, changed the filename "high quality.joboptions" to "Adobe PDF converter.joboptions" and was back in business.  Pretty screwey fix, but after getting no help from online chats with Adobe and a day's lost work I was happy to have it.

Solution 1: Use a supported installation.
The following are unsupported installations, and the supported solutions:
If you install Acrobat (Professional or Standard) on a 64-bit operating system, then you may
see this error. Please update Acrobat to version 8.1 or later. You can update from within
Acrobat via the help pull-down menu, or download the updater from the following location:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows.
If you install Acrobat to a shared network disk instead of a local hard disk, then the Adobe PDF
printer is not installed. Install Acrobat on a local hard disk.

Solution 2: Ensure that the Print Spooler process is running and set to
    Automatic, and then repair Acrobat.
    1. Select Start > Settings > Control Panel.
    2. Double-click Administrative Tools and then double-click Services.
    3. Locate the service Print Spooler.
    4. If the Startup Type is not Automatic, then set it to Automatic:
    a. Right-click the Print Spooler.
    b. Choose Properties.
    c. Choose the General tab.
    d. Choose Automatic in the Startup Type menu.
    e. Click OK.
    5. If the Print Spooler service is not running, then start it.
    a. Right-click the Print Spooler line.
    b. Select Start from the menu.
    6. Start Acrobat, and choose Help > Detect And Repair.
Solution 3: Ensure that the Print Spooler process has no additional
    dependencies.
Only the Remote Procedure Call dependency is required for Print Spooler to operate.
Additional Services can attach to the process but will interfere with restarting the service.
If the Print Spooler process has additional dependencies, then please refer to the steps
    below.
To remove all services listed under "This service depends on the following system
    components":
    1. Choose Start > Settings > Control Panel.
    2. Double-click Administrative Tools and then double-click Services.
    3. Right-click Print Spooler and choose Properties.
    4. Click the Dependencies tab.
    5. Record services under "This service depends on the following system components" and click
    OK.
Imporatnt: Remote Procedure Call is a system service and should not be removed.
    6. Temporarily remove associated programs for the listed services.
    7. Contact the service vendor for removal information if removal of associated software does
    not remove the service.
    8. Start Acrobat, and choose Help > Detect And Repair.
To disable all services listed under "The following system components depend on this
    service":
    1. Choose Start > Set

  • Printer CD will not install software and drivers

    Laptop: Acer Aspire 3690 series
    Model: BL50
OS: Windows Vista SP2 Home Basic (32 bit)
    Printer: HP Desktop F4100 series
*To my knowledge both laptop and printer are old models, with the laptop being as old as 7 years.
Short Story: After formatting my laptop and reinstalling the OS, the CD won't install the drivers from the disc so the printer would work correctly on my computer. It always results in an error.
Long Story: My Windows Vista laptop had an issue. There was a problem with the OS that kept mysteriously eating up space of the computer hard drive. It was so bad that the computer kept reporting it had 0 bytes of free space left on the hard drive. I always had to find free up space somehow because the printer won't print without free space. I couldn't even use my superiorly better computer because the printer only works with Windows 2000, XP and Vista, it doesn't work with Windows 7 (I tried). One day I decided I had enough of it and reinstalled the OS of the laptop. I used DriverMax and exported all of the drivers from my laptop to my flash drive since I don't remember my laptop coming with a driver disc. Everything went smooth and my laptop was operating like new except for one issue: No matter how many times I tried, I could not install the printer drivers from the printer disc onto the computer.
When the disc is installing the drivers and software, this would show:
    and then this error:
I wasn't sure if I there was a model number on the printer or not but here is a photo of it:
Getting help from the HP Support forum seems to be my only option so hopefully I can find a solution here. Thank you to anyone in advance who can help me resolve this I would really like to get this fix as I not too long ago bought several cartridges for this printer to last a while, and there's not much money to buy a printer OR another computer.

  • The printer driver is not installed on this computer....

Ok, I have read all kings of fixes for this with HP printers, but what happens when its not just HP printers but any kind of printer I put on this Windows 7 32bit SP1 computer.  Every time I plug in a printer it installs the drivers but when I try
to pull up the properties or even try to print it brings up this error.  This has happened on a Brother and a HP printer.

    Hi Yaugen,
Try these instructions.  The main task is to get Windows XP and Win7 to share resources.
Step one: Windows 7 Homegroup must be setup
Printer sharing must be setup in the Homegroup settings, if one of the computers in the network is using Windows 7.
    1. Click Start
    2. Click Control Panel
    3. In the upper right corner ensure that View by has Large icons or Small icons selected.
    4. Click Network and Sharing Center.
5. Click Choose homegroup and sharing options
    6. If the Homegroup is not setup, you need to set up your homegroup before continuing.
Step two: Set the Workgroup on each computer
Each computer on the network must be set to the same Workgroup.  The workgroup name needs to be changed from the default to a new name.
    Windows XP:
    1. Click Start.
    2. Right click Computer and then left click Properties.
    3. The default Workgroup is WORKGROUP.
    4. The name of the Workgroup should be changed from the default.
    5. In System Properties, click the Computer Name tab.
    6. Click the Change button.
    7. Enter the Workgroup name that is used by your entire network.  If you are changing the Workgroup name, use the same name used in Windows 7.
    8. Click OK.
    9. You must restart your computer for the change to take effect.
    Windows 7:
    1. Click Start.
    2. Right click Computer and then left click Properties.
    3. The Workgroup is listed in System Properties.
    4. The default Workgroup is WORKGROUP.
    5. The name of the Workgroup should be changed from the default.
    6. Change your Workgroup in Windows 7 by clicking Change settings.
    7. Click the Change button.
    8. Enter a new Workgroup name that will be used by your entire network.
    9. Click OK.
    10. You must restart your computer for the change to take effect.
Step three: Setup a share account on each computer in the network
Create a common share account on each of the computers, including the computer that is sharing the printer to the rest of the network.  This share account must have the same name and password on each computer.
If you decide to use an existing account that appears on each computer all ready, this existing account must be password protected. If you do not want to password protect your default login, create a new share login as described in the following steps.
     Windows XP
    1. Click Start
    2. Click Control Panel
    3. Click User Accounts
    4. Click Create a new account.
    5. Enter the same user account name created as the share account on the Windows 7 computer.
    6. Click Next.
    7. Under “Pick an account type”, select ‘Computer Administrator’.
Note: In Windows XP you must select Computer Administrator in order setup a printer.
    8. After you new account is created, select it under ‘pick an account to change’.
    9. Click Create a password
    10. Enter the same password used when creating the share account on the Windows 7 computer, following the directions on the screen.
    11. Click Create Password button.
    12. Log off your current user account and log into the new share account to activate it.
    13. Once the computer is ready after logging into the share account, you can log off the share account and back into your regular user account.
    Windows 7
    1. Click Start
    2. Click Control Panel
    3. In the upper right corner ensure that View by has Large icons or Small icons selected.
    4. Click User Accounts
    5. Click Manage another account
    6. Click Create a new account
    7. Select Standard User
Note:  The account created should be created with the lowest security setting necessary.  Creating the share account as an administrator is discouraged.
    8. Enter a new user account name.  Use a name that is easy to remember as the account used for sharing resources across your network.  For example: ‘ShareAccount’
    9. After your new account is created, select it under “Choose the account you would like to change”.
    10. Click Create a Password
    11. Enter a new password, following the directions on the screen.
    12. Click Create Password button.
    13. Close any remaining opened windows, making a note of the new account name and password as you will need to create identical accounts and passwords on the other computers on your network.
    14. Log off your current user account and log into the new share account to activate it.
    15. Once the computer is ready after logging into the share account, you can log off the share account and back into your regular user account.
Step Four: Share the printer to the network
The computer that has the printer attached and installed by USB must have the printer shared to the network.
    Windows XP
    1. Open the printers and faxes folder in Windows XP.
Note: A hand symbol under the icon for the printer indicates it is already shared to the network.
    2. Right click on the printer to be shared to the network.
    3. Left click on Sharing.
    4. Click “If you understand the security risks but want to share printers without running the wizard, click here”.
    5. Select “Just enable printer sharing”.
    6. Click OK.
    7. Select “Share this printer”.
    8. If the Share name is acceptable, click OK.
    9. If you want to change the Share name, enter a new name. Click OK.
Note: If the Share name entered is longer than 8 characters, you will get a warning that the printer will not be accessible from MS-Dos computers.
Step five: Install the appropriate software for your printer
Install the printer software on the other computers on the network that will need to access the shared printer.  Install the correct driver for the printer model for each computer on the network. Not all printers will need to have a driver installed, only newer printers.
    1. Check for available drivers – visit the HP website and download available drivers.
Note: Even if you have an install CD for your older HP product, there may be an updated driver for your printer.
    2. Launch the driver setup by double-clicking on the downloaded driver.
    3. If the driver install process requires you to attach the printer USB cable to continue, click cancel instead.  This will roll back the install, but it will leave the driver files installed.
    4. Select the USB connection type. Look for the checkbox labeled “Connect later – Do not connect to the printer now.  I will connect it later”.
Note: You might have to select USB connection type before the checkbox is visible.
    5. Complete the install without attaching the USB cable.
    6. After the software is installed, delete any icons created on the desktop.  They will not be linked to the shared printer and will only result in errors if used.
Step six: Install the shared printer.
Note: Computers that are not sharing a resource to the network may not show up by name when viewing the entire network.
    Windows 7
    1. Click Start.
    2. Click on Computer.
    3. In the lower left pane, click on Network.
    4. Double click on the computer that is sharing the printer.
    5. Enter the name of your share account as the “User name”.
    6. Enter the same password created for the share account.
    7. Check the box labeled Remember my credentials.
    8. Click OK.
    9. Right click on the printer, left click Open.
    10. Windows will find the previously loaded driver for the printer and complete the install.

  • Print driver was not installed. Operation could not be completed (error 0x00000002)

So, here's my problem.  Wondering if anyone else has seen this or knows where I can find logs to get more information about this.
I have some Vista x64 systems on a domain with a print server serving both x86 and x64 print drivers.  All was working fine, until one day I updated the drivers, expecting them to push out to the clients.   It did for most, but for a few of the Vista x64 systems it failed.  Not only did it fail, but it seems to have prevented me from installing any HP print drivers, even for locally connected HP printers.   A couple of the machines were critical and after hours of trying things (resetting print spooler, downloading new drivers, etc) I had to rewrite them since system restore was not working (another long story).
So, now I have one PC left that is reporting the above 0x00000002 error when trying to install drivers, and theres a very complicated web of programs installed on this system and I'd prefer not to install it.
Any ideas what I can do to solve this.   Same error happens whether using the drivers that come with windows, downloading the drivers from the HP website (both the individual drivers and the universal print drivers), or whether I hook the printer directly to the printer or if its through the network.   Right now I'm trying to hook up a laserjet 8150N and getting that error.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Karl

Did you ever find a solution to your problem? I am having the same issue with loading drivers on Windows 7 x64 machines.

  • Printer software will not install

I have recently upgraded to Mountain Lion and use a Canon iP4950 printer.   Some of the options had disappeared, such as the quality and media, although it would print.  In trying to find where, or how to get to the options, I have obviously done something as the printer has 'vanished' and will not recognise the software so I downloaded the update for the printer from the Apple website and now get a message saying that the installation was successful - but still it won't recognise the software and I am getting a message saying "can't install the software for the Canon iP4900 series because it is not currently available from the Software Update server:.
    Can anybody help please?

Problem solved by restarting the machine!   Hope this helps
