No printing options on epson r200

i am unable to select any printing options
such as paper type, print quality or anything
where are my options?
the Epson Stylus Photo R200
is currently attached through usb on the airport
but the situation is unchanged when directly connected
i tried with both a MBP and Powerbook
downloaded and installed Epson drivers as well as gimp
the printer always worked fine when hooked up to my old PC
Thanks for the help

Hi Av,
First, go to System Preferences > Print & Fax. You should see the Epson listed. Highlight it and click the minus button below the list of printers. This will remove the printer from the list.
Next, click the plus button. OS X should automatically find the printer if it is connected to the network and turned on. At the bottom of the window, there will be a drop down menu that lists the driver OS X plans to use for the printer. Make sure it is the correct driver for the printer and not simply "Generic PS."
Since you tried the driver on multiple Macs, and had the same problem both times, it is possible that Epson's driver is to blame. If the above solution does not work, I would suggest you contact Epson directly. If you follow the above procedure and, in the window where the driver is listed, select "Generic PS" instead, you may get some basic printing options. (Assuming your printer supports PostScript). This will not give you all the available options for your printer, but it will give you at least some basic ones.

  • Printing Options besides Epson R200

We like our R200 printers. They work ok, but we find we are printing 1000 DVDs a year (middle school) and the Epson R200s are not really designed for that level. We raise some funds from the sales of DVDs. What is a better option besides the Epson R200? The next level?

this is the machine I use on a daily basis
it dupes 50 CD's or DVD's in a batch before printing labels on each one
there is a printer only version available which is cheaper
I use Epson, Canonand HP printers also, but the Primera is the better option by far and is the most reliable duping machine Iv used

  • Missing borderless print option on Epson 2200 since Leopard upgrade

Since upgrading to Leopard, I no longer fine an Epson borderless print option when I go to select printers. I have an Epson 2200 and am using with Photoshop CS. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Are you using the Epson driver, as opposed to the Gutenprint driver? I am using the Epson SP 2200 driver on 10.5.3 and can see and print with the borderless options in Photoshop. In the Print Dialog in the Paper Size menu, I see the following:
    US Letter
US Letter (Standard - Minimize Margins)
US Letter (Sheet Feeder - Borderless)
    US Letter (Roll Paper)
US Letter (Roll Paper - Borderless)
    Hope this helps.

  • Printing Problems with Epson R200 Printer

When I try to print from Aperture my prints come out "flat" and the colors are off. When I export the the same file to PS Elements 4.0 my prints come out great. I would prefer to not have to do this. Here is some background information on what I have tried to do so far to correct this problem:
    1. I have searched this forum backwards and forwards to try and find an answer - no luck!
    2. Purchased a Spyder2 monitor calibrator
    3. Wasted a lot of paper trying various settings.
    4. Yes - I have read the two articles on the Aperture site regarding printing and calibration. I have followed both of these articles and still get poor prints when printing from Aperture.
    5. I have met with the genius at my local Apple Store to work through the problem. He informed me that he only prints from Photoshop and did not really know how to solve my problem.
    6. Purchased the Aperture 1.5 book from Apple to see if I could find out anything else that I had not already tried.
Help please, what am I missing? It seems to me that all of the books written on Aperture stress printing books and not photo prints as their main area on printing. Can I get the same results printing from Aperture as I can printing from Photoshop Elements?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'll attempt to answer my own question. After much trial and error along with a lot of wasted paper and ink I have found the source of the problem. Aperture works exactly like it should if you follow Apple's recomendations for printing. My problem was that the profiles supplied for my printer by Epson are horrible! I purchased a Spyder 2 Suite screen calibrator to try and fix this problem and did not have any luck until I ran the included Print FX software and created a new profile for my printer (Epson R200). The prints are now coming out great and virutally indistinguishable from those printed via Photoshop Elements. The clue to fixing this is that when I turned on "on-screen" proofing and selected my old printer profile the output did match the screen. Unfortuntely the screen images were not using the full gamut of color (hence the flat pictures) because it was gettting it's information from the Epson ICC Profile. In summary, if you are suffering from this problem find a way to create your own profile for your printer. There are expensive methods which involve purchasing a spectrophotometer. I took the middle of the road route and created a profile using a software only profiler (Print FX). I'm sure that depending on your printer you could download a better profile on the web. Either way you get it done you'll be happier. NOTE: I guess some printers come with better profiles than others which would explain why some people don't have any problems.

  • Upgraded and lost Epson R200 Borderless printer option

I just upgraded to Tiger on my eMac, and was sailing through everything until I went to print an 8x10 borderless print on my Epson R200. The "sheet-fed_ borderless printer option I used to have was no longer available in any of my apps. I went to print utility to try to add it again and couldn't find it in any list of options, even trying to add it to the list!
Anyone else had this happen or does anyone know what's going on here?
    Thanks,
    Barry

My wife can print to my shared printers from her Win XP box borderless all day long, but my new "worlds most advanced operating system equipped dual 2.7 ghz Mac workstation and my G5 iMac can't print a simple borderless photo to save their lives. Epson r200 and a 2200, gimp and epson drivers. So far the only way I have gotten a borderless print is with a demo of $199 PowerRip software (with a big watermark). This function should be included in Tiger, what is going on. Lets all get on Apples case. Ask them why "it just works" on Windows and not on Mac. (little frustrated...)

  • Printing through a shared Epson R200

    Hi,
I have just bought my first Mac, a macbook and i'm having a few problems with it printing on my Epson R200. The R200 is shared through one of my XP machines, the macbook can recognise it and print through it, but any advanced features such as print quality, borderless, CD Printing etc are not showing up.
When I added the printer, I selected the R200 model and it's using the GIMP drivers?
    Anyone got any ideas?
    Thanks
    Dan

You have encountered a difference between Windows and OS X. On OS X, there are two printer driver APIs (application programming interface = all the programming tools and info needed for programming) that can be used for drivers - the Carbon one (which is also used by Cocoa if you wanted to use Cocoa for a driver) and the CUPS one (CUPS is the open source spool control system Apple uses in OS X). Brother is the only manufacturer so far to write CUPS drivers for its non-postscript printers. Everyone else uses Carbon, and with Carbon the manufacturer gets to insert exactly which comm protocol will/can be used by the driver.
Short version - the Epson-provided driver for the R200 is only capable of direct USB connection. CUPS drivers can use any comm protocol available to the CUPS system (including Windows Printing). That's why you're using the Gimp-Print (CUPS) driver.

  • Epson R200 looses print options

I have an Epson R200 that I've been using happily with a G5 running Tiger. I regularly print photos to it. A couple weeks ago - after nothing else had changed - it stopped giving me all my print options. I get the standard number of copies and output to file, etc but I don't get the Epson specific options - like individual color saturation and more specific types of paper.
At first, I assumed it was a driver issue and I downloaded and reinstalled Epson's latest drivers for this printer. Didn't work. I then deleted all traces of previous Epson drivers and preferences and tried again to no avail. I logged in as a different user and had the same problem.
I spent time on the phone with Epson and Apple who had me try basic things before pointing the finger at each other. Finally, I archived and installed Tiger again, did all my updates, reinstalled the printer and everything worked - yay!
Until about two days ago. Again nothing has changed - nothing new installed, no updates - but suddenly all my Epson specific options are missing. Apple and Epson are still no help. So to you members of the forum I say, "Help!"
    Thanks!

  • Printing 4X6 Borderless Photos on Epson R200

For some reason, I am unable to print a borderless 4X6 photograph using my Epson R200 printer. All other photos print without any trouble, just not the borderless prints ... anyone have any suggestions?

I was having problems with an Epson Stylus Photo 890 after buying the 4x6 instead of the perforated 4x6 paper and received the following response from Epson tech support.
Thank you for contacting the Epson Connection.
For borderless printing in OS X.3 please follow the steps below to download
    and install:
    1) Open your PRINT SETUP UTILITY (you can open this by opening your HARD
DRIVE, APPLICATIONS, UTILITY, PRINTER SETUP UTILITY). Make sure your
printer is powered on at this point.
    2) If your printer is listed, simply highlight it and click DELETE. Once
the printer has been removed from the Print Center, click the ADD button.
If your printer is not listed, click the ADD button.
    3) In the window that appears, select EPSON USB from the drop-down menu,
and then select your printer. Once your printer has been selected, click on
    the name to highlight it.
    4) Once the printer is highlighted, a Page setup will appear at the bottom
of the print center window. Simply click the drop-down menu and select ALL.
**PLEASE NOTE: ALL MUST BE SELECTED FOR BORDERLESS PRINTING SUPPORT. **
    Then click ADD.
    5) You will now see several listings in the Printer list for the printer.
Highlight the appropriate printer for your printing. For example, Stylus
Photo 900(Roll paper) or Stylus Photo 900(Sheet Feeder-Borderless)
depending on what type of media you are selecting. Then click MAKE DEFAULT
on the toolbar or click PRINTERS on the menu and click MAKE DEFAULT. Close
    the Print Center.
    6) Please ensure you have the correct paper size selected in the printer
driver under PAGE SETUP and that the correct printer option is selected in
the menu listed under FORMAT FOR(these two must be the same, if the Sheet
Feeder-Borderless is the default printer, if must be the same in this
Format for option) and try printing.
If you require further assistance with this particular issue, please ensure
all of our previous correspondence is contained in your reply, so we can
better track the history of this issue.
If you have a different technical support issue, please submit another
E-form via our website (http://www.epson.com), and we will respond in a
timely manner. Thank you again for contacting Epson.

  • Printing w/ Epson R200 an I still have hair

After days of trying to print with Aperture to my Epson R200, I wasn't have much success. I followed all the rules, change the setting in the Epson R200 perfences to Photo RPM, and turn off color management. Back in forth etc. Print borderless was usless and I was having color banding issues and my prints looked horrible. I tried everything!
    Untill i did more research.
Conclusions to all of the headaches and sleepless nights...
For some reason when you add the Epson R200 to your printer set up using the "plus" key it adds the wrong drivers and wrong color proflies. It says it's it but it isnt'.
You have to delete the one you added "normally" and go about it another way.
    1. System Pref - Printers and Util
    2. click add printer with plus sign
    3. more printers
    4. choose Epson USB under the drop down menu
    5. click on the Stylus photo .....
    6. under drop down menu for Page setup choose "Sheet Feeder Borderless"
    7. Go back to Aperture and follow all the normal rules of printing.
    MY LIFE HAS CHANGED.
well may be not too much but i've got consitent good looking real bona fide borderless printing now on my trusty R200.
I'm excited and I can finish the christmas gifts that I had in the works!

you probably got the GIMP (open source) drivers, not the Epson supplied drivers. while i applaud the open source community for getting drivers working, their ability to match colors with the epson papers is a horrible mess. Apple should make it more obvious that you're not using the manufacturer's drivers!

  • My Lr5.7.1 doesn't recognize my Epson XP-760 printer and after customising the printout in the Print Module the Print options (lower right AND Main Menu Archive Print) are disabled

I am running Lr5.7.1 on an iMac Retina 5K (OS X Yosemite 10.10.1). My printer (Epson XP-760) works fine with all other applications but not with Lr!!! After selecting my printout preferences in the Print Module it works if I select Print File and save it to the desktop and then take it up as a Preview and print it from there. This is not what I want. I expect that the Print button (low right corner) should be abled rather than disabled and send to printer directly from within Lr's Print Module. It doesn't matter if the printer is on Wi-Fi or USB (or even both).
What is the problem? What else can or should I do to make it work as I expect?
    Gunnar

    Thank you very much, Modesto,
I have updated Yosemite to 10.10.2 and my problems remain. Reading About Lightroom 5.7.1, the pop-up window doesn't specifically say 5.7.1 and there is no choice to select More details (I can only trust that I am running really 5.7.1). I am sure that I really am Printing to file since this is the only choice I have ever seen enabled in my Lr5.7.1, whereas I have NEVER seen the Print option enabled. I enclose a screen dump (in Swedish)  fyi.
So, I am still confused but on a somewhat higher level!
I really appreciate your help, Modesto

  • Epson R200 Direct CD Print

After upgrading, Epson R200 printer prints to paper just fine. However, when trying to print directly to CD/DVD, the image is off centered from the CD/DVD. The Gutenprint 5.2.4 drivers allow for minor adjustments vertically and horizontally. But what is needed is some major adjustment (42mm off).
I tried printing with the latest version of "The PrintShop2" as well as the Epson supplied "Print CD". Both result in the same problem. I'm guessing there's something wrong with the Gutenprint printer driver.

Guess I fixed my own problem. Here's what I did:
    1. From System Preferences / Printers & Fax, Removed the printer.
    2. Reinstalled Updated Epson drivers.
    * Did not install Gutenprint drivers *
    3. From System Preferences / Printers & Fax, add the printer and insure Gutenprint driver is NOT being used.
Now, "The PrintShop2" and the Epson "Print CD" apps work fine. Whew! Back in business.

  • Epson R200 printer on 10.8.5

Need guidance.  I keep hitting a wall.
I recently unpacked and set-up,  a newly purchased refurbished Mac Pro Tower 2012, with  OSX 10.8.5
I plugged in my Epson R200 printer, and computer instantly recognized and pop up window essentually stated: "Apple has nothing for R200."  I followed the instructions to go to the menu for "Updates" and launch, which I did and nothing appeared for the R200.
I went to the Epson website for the drivers, etc. and it states that for Mt. Lion, the user has to get the download from Apple.
A few months ago, I purchased a HP laptop with OS8, and when I plugged the R200 into it, it instantly recognized the printer.  No downloads required.  How is I can print from the HP laptop, but not my Mac Pro Tower?
    Am I doing something wrong?

    Thank you for responding.
My Epson has an install disc, which I attempted to install into the Mac Pro Tower, but it rejected and thus the process I outlined above, occured.
Update:   Cannot explain why or how, but the machine now recognizes the Epson, and allows me to print.  The only thing I can think of is, I had utilized the Disk Utility to repair permissions, which there was long list of corrections.  I then restarted the machine and that is when the update window downloaded the Epson drivers.

  • Windows XP won't print to Mac Tiger w/Epson R200

I have Windows XP successfully networked through a router to a Mac OS X 10.4.6 with an Epson R200. I've successfully assigned the Printer to the Windows XP.
    I followed these instructions
    http://www.ifelix.co.uk/tech/3012.html
The XP DOES send the job to the Mac. It shows up in the Printer Jobs on the Mac but the job is Stopped.
I've tried using an installed Epson R200. I also tried using the Apple Color LaserWriter as per the above instructions.
    Any Help?

No one else has ever had this problem or has an example of a working solution?

  • I am using lion with a HP laser 1320 and a Epson R200. When I try to print two A5 pages onto A4 paper in booklet form the pages are scaled down. How do I cancel the scale down in the printer dialogue boxes.

The printer drivers are supplied by Apple and if I go to the HP site for their drivers they refer me back to Apple saying they supply the drivers for the Epson R200 and the HP laser 1320.

Well, MS Word does something like this automatically - if you tell it to start a new section on an odd page, and if the section before it ends on an odd page, it will "skip" the even page number in between - and when it prints, it automatically spits out a blank page in between them, so that on a two-sided printer, the odd pages all print on the front of the paper (which is the right-facing sheet when they are put in a binder or book).
InDesign shows the pages like this on the spreads (odd page numbers always on the right), so it is aware of the desired orientation, and I'd think it would provide a mechanism to ensure that they print out this way as well...
