No 'privacy' button in Safari on iPad

When using an iPad Air, Safari does not present a "private" button.
I have access to another iPad of the same variation and can see where the "private" button is supposed to appear, but it isn't there. I have checked under settings and can see nothing there to hide the button. I tried closing Safari and restarting, tried opening new tabs in Safari, tried opening the pages view in Safari.  No button to be seen. This occurs on the latest iOS (8.1) and on the previous iOS (7.something).
Appreciate any help offered. Regards.

From the link Carolyn Samit posted:
If you're using iOS 7 or earlier on an iPad, open Safari, tap   to open a new tab, then tap Private.
This link gives you an image to show you were the "Private" button is on the screen.

  • Audio on/off button is not coming in safari on iPad(iOS6)

    Hi,
We have published some content using Captivate 7. We are facing a problem where audio on/off button is not being shown in safari on iPad(iOS6) while this is working fine on desktop browsers.
    Thanks
    -Manish

There is no reset button.  To reset, hold down both the power and home buttons for perhaps 15 seconds and the iDevice will turn itself off.
But the problem you report (a blank lit screen shows for a second then disappears) is what you would get if the battery wasn't charged up.  Try plugging it in for a few hours, then turning it on normally.

  • HT4623 Where is the Safari Privacy button located? It's not within the Settings/Safari cluster.

Having downloaded the new IOS software, I now cannot access my BT Yahoo e-mail "in box". It prompts me to disable the Safari settings Privacy button.  Where is  it please!!!

^ No, I don't think that's what the OP is asking.
With Safari open, tap on the "pages" icon in the lower-right corner, then at the bottom of your screen you'll see the "Private" option which used to be in Settings.

  • Tabs won't open in safari on iPad 4

New iPad 4 running iOS 7.0.4 every time I try and open a new tab using the "+" button safari shuts down, even trying to open a new page from a link in a new tab don't appear to do anything. The space it there under my favourites bar but nothing's happening. Any thoughts, ideas? I can't see anything in the setting so may just have to pop in store and visit the Genius Bar!

Clear Safari, close Safari and reboot the iPad.
    Go to Settings>Safari>Cookies and Data.
To close Safari - Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the Safari app and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Need to disable privacy browsing in Safari according to yahoo but don't find the option. New to this.

Need to disable privacy browser in Safari to access mail but don't find it there. New to iPad!

On the Safari page tap the + sign in the upper right then private in the lower left. You know private is on when the top of the Safari page is dark with white letters.

    Thanks,
I am using an Apple TV, between  and other FAQ's I found the answer.  Double clicking the home button and scrolling  to the left to use the airplay function.
Silly of me not to realize that but I thought it was only for iTunes

  • DRM-protected PDF crashes Safari on iPad

DRM-protected PDF crashes Safari on iPad (iOS 5.1/9B176). After restart the document is blank. When choose Acrobat from "Open it..." list it says "The document is empty". Is there a workaround?
It looks like Safari PDF preview software failes to handle DRM protected PDF (by Adobe LiveCycle ES). I am not sure but this was working before.
    Thanks.

    Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > Safari then tap to delete history, cookies, and data then try Safari.
    * No data is lost due to a reset

  • Old pages in Safari on iPad

When i swipe back in Safari i sometimes get old sites not the one i had last. Why is that?

Same here. After clicking the BACK button in Safari I get old copies. I am using Ipad 16GB wifi-only.
Issue started with IOS5. It worked fine before.
When the old page is shown, a refresh helps as workaround. Untill Applie fixes it.

  • Safari on Ipad

Since updating to ios 4.2 Safari frequently freezes or returns to the previous page after quitting.
I have also had a similar problem in mail with unexpected quitting.
Is this a known issue and is there a fix for it ?

    HI,
Tap Settings in your Home screen then tap Safari.
Clear the History / Cookies and Cache.
Restart your iPad. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPad. To turn iPad back on, press and hold the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears.
If none of the above helps, when Safari freezes, try force quitting the application.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPad for a few seconds until a red slider appears, then press and hold the Home button until the application quits.

  • When using Safari, my iPad 1 will end Safari and return to the home screen for no apparent reason, any ideas as to cause and solution?

When using Safari, my iPad 1 will end Safari and return to the home screen for no apparent reason, any ideas as to cause and solution?

    See if the following help.
Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cookies And Data and also Clear History
If that doesn't work then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
Turning off iCloud and multitasking gestures on the iPad might also help.

  • Gmail keeps crashing safari on iPad 1 as well as msn messenger

Since updating to ios 5 when I sign into gmail and hit the login button it safari crashes and closes the browser..
This also occurs when opening the msn messenger app.. It starts then closes..
I must say since iOS 5 update everything is buggy and lagging..

So I'm trying to repeat the experience today at home. Its perfect. I can load all sorts of sites like cnn and wunderground that other people over at http://ipad.bigresource.com/Safari-keeps-crashing-g9DKUt5Lu.html are reporting crash safari. I've loaded and played the ipod, load photos and maps and buzzed around all over the place and its rock solid, lots of multitasking and its now OK, Touch wood..
I wonder if its the 3G network when I'm on thre train travelling - that's when it occurs mostly.
Ah ha Facebook just crashed. When I go back to Safari Facebook it does not recall that I was logged on a minute ago, but it does recall my email. Lets try again.
If I click on a friends name to go to their page CRASH. Reload and I'm not logged in any more ! Cookie issue ?
This time I'll try "keep me logged in" option......clicked on Friend again CRASH
Reload - empty Safari screen appears CRASH... Reload same CRASH. Reload - all previous pages are gone.
Facebook, it loads and I'm logged in - Keep option works.Click on Friends OK.
Seems to be with multiple pages open.. lets try 6 pages open no worries.
Loading lots of applications and again it is fine !!!

What's going on with safari on ipad and iphone not connecting?

I am using safari on my iPad to respond here. What problems are you having? Do you have a good wifi connection? Try a reset, hold the power button and home button until you see the apple then let go.

  • TS3230 Safari on iPad, how do I delete add ons

My iPad browser is popping videos everywhere, I have deleted everything I can find, but it must be adware?? How do I delete it on an iPad?

Go to Settings>Safari>Block Popups>On. That will disable Popups, but some sites may use popups that you need to access so keep that in mind for the future.
Clear Safari, close the app and reset the iPad as well.
    Settings>Safari>Clear Cookies and data.
In order to close Safari, drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
