No Problems here with Update...

I just wanted to post and say I did the update yesterday and had no problem at all with download or the phone after the update. After reading so many post on the problems everyone was having I was worried about updating. But I decided I would give it a shot. And everything when real smooth, itunes was already updated so I just downloaded 3.0. It took about 20-30 mins for the whole process to complete.
As for the phone, it runs great, does not get hot and the battery does not go down any faster than it did before. I've got all my apps and have even added some since the upgrade with no problems. The update did however add a page to my apps. And everything new with the update works just fine.
Here is just some thoughts, I have a very fast web connection and a new Dell i7 computer and maybe it has something to do with that as to why I have not seen any of the problems that others have had. I don't know.
So I would say if you have a pretty fast connection to the net, go ahead and do the update, it's great! Dale

if you have no back up in icloud or itunes the best you can do is sync with your computer and get back what you can from there

ZyXEL iChat connection problem solved with updated firmware

Hi,
bought a new ADSL modem (ZyXEL Prestige 660H-61) and was unable to do video iChat with one particular person. She was/is using ZyXEL modem as well. Tried every setting with no success and noticed, when trying to find solution here, that other people are having problems as well with ZyXEL modems.
The firmware I had was V3.40(PE.9). As a last resort I updated the firmware to V3.40(PE.10) and it indeed helped. I can now call and receive iChat video calls also from the person using ZyXEL modem.

LUT Loader or adobe gamma realted software of startup program in CS3? serious problem here with cali

I have serious problems with calibration here.
White turns to maroon while going gray.
Something is going on very bad.
I have installed PS3. I´m told to remove any LUT loader or whatever photoshop installs on the system in order to leave my own profiles load.
I don´t find any kind of loader, and i´m quite worried about what´s going on with the color here.
I use equipment for photographer: 10bit NEC screen (multisync LCD3080UX+) and Matrox Parhelia 128MB graphic card. The software is Monaco Optix with BasicColor together, using a MonacoOptix XR calibration hardware.
I do everything correctly, and this goes wrong. Can you please help me or redirect me somewhere better?.

The profile is corrupt, doesn't matter which system it is a very old problem that has shown up in quite a while. Find in which directory the monitor profile is located trash it so that you do not overwrite it when making a new one and then make the new one.
Or go Nck's way and continue to have the problem.

Having and amusing symptom of sometimes repeating what you said three minutes ago without really recalling ever saying it is not a not exactly a symptom one would have from a severe head injury. Having an unnoticeable paralysis to one side of the face that keeps improving over time is also not a symptom of a severe head injury telling some one that if you survive the injury then there is not much affect it has on your life is probably a misunderstanding by someone who is a bit unrealistic about many things in life.
And of course Nick is just showing the world exactly how big he is and make no misunderstandings about this we have a pretty good idea how big you are, my sympathies.

Problem with updating 10.6.3 - 10.6.6/8

Hello, my problem is with updating my macbook pro (late 2010, 2.4 intel core duo, 4gb ram, 128gb ssd disc)
When i using auto-update, or combo update downloaded from apple site, my mac just don't want to turn on, it freezes on apple logo. Re-installing SL from dvd is only help.
I've tried with combo 10.6.8 and 10.6.6 - this same reaction.
Also I don't have installed PGP.
Any help? ;-)

Try going to the Apple site and downloading the update to your desktop (safari>preferences.general, save downloaded files to desk top, If desktop is not on the dropdown menu, click other, then select desktop from the column on the left) Do the updates one at a time in sequential order, after the download the installer should be on your desktop, quit all applications, and double click on the installer and follow the prompts. If you still have problems, try doing it with ethernet cable instead of wireless in case there is something interfering with the RF (radio frequency) corrupting the data. Hope this helps. SJP

Good evening (from Germany). I have a problem with updating my Nokia Software Updater. I can download the setup and I can execute this. But when the installation starts (0%) a error message appears. It's a problem with Windows Installer but I don't know how to solve the problem. Here is a picture with the exactly error message:

11.0.10 Update Issue - Problem saving documents - getting message "This document could not be saved. There was a problem reading this document (21)." The PDF documents are being created by Esker VSIFax and the problem is only occuring with updated vers

Our IBM Unix system uses a program called VSIFax (Esker) to create PDF documents such as invoices. Users that have updated to Acrobat version 11.0.10 can open the PDF but then when trying to save the document the get a message "This document could not be saved. There was a problem reading this document (21)." The problem is only occuring with updated version 11.0.10 (11.0.9 works fine).

A "quick" fix that worked for me was to uninstall Adobe... then download the base install for Adobe Reader 11.0.
Then download each of the individual updates and run them sequentially.
I've installed back up to the last security update which is version 08 and have been able to do normal Save As operations.
You will have to disable automatic updates in order to stay at version 08 until Adobe resolves this issue in a later release.

Problem with update packages MDT

Hi, when i build boot image with update packages the mdt it give me a error
Error: 0x800f081e
The specified package is not applicable to this image.
Exit code = -2146498530
The wim file is take from win 7 italian iso x64, the updates I push in mdt are the same that I install on test machine with italian iso.
I think the problem is in some script of mdt when "update deployment share"

The only update that I recall being required for WAIK 3 was the advanced format drive patch (Unless you have the WAIK 3.1 update in which case it is unneeded).
So can you post the output that is failing? Specifically when you choose Update Deployment Share and it is building the boot wims can you select 'Save Output' and post that output here?
What version of MDT are you using?

Problems with update / permissions

I have a problem with my 15" mid 2010 macbook Pro with 8GB RAM, running Lion with 10.7.4.
Problem:
I cannot update the SW running the Apple update - I finds the new updates for iMovie, iPhoto, Java etc, but when asking it to install them, it prompts me that I cannot install due to not having the correct permissions.
The problem occured approx 3-4 weeks ago. Before that I had never experienced this before...
I have repaired the permissions, but that didn't help - does anyone have a solution to this?
FYI I'm still a novice on the Mac - so I'm learning everyday....

Besides repairing permissions with disk utility, you need to reset your user permissions. Follow instructions here:
Repairing User Permissions in OS X Lion
You’ll need to reboot to perform this, and then use the same resetpassword utility that is used to change passwords in Lion, but instead choosing a hidden option.
When you use the Disk Utility app and Repair Permissions — it doesn’t actually repair the permission settings on folders and files in your Home folder where your documents and personal applications reside.
In Lion, there is an additional Repair Permissions application utility hidden away. This toolis located inside boot Repair Utilities. Here’s how to access it.
Restart Lion and hold down the Command and R keys.
You will boot into the Repair Utilities screen. On top, in the Menu Bar click the Utilities item then select Terminal.
In the Terminal window, type resetpassword and hit Return.
The Password reset utility launches, but you’re not going to reset the password. Instead, click on the icon for your Mac’s hard drive at the top. From the drop-down below it, select the user account where you are having issues.
At the bottom of the window, you’ll see an area labeled ‘Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs’. Click the Reset button there.
The reset process takes a couple of minutes. When it’s done, quit the programs you’ve opened and restart your Mac. Notice that ‘Spotlight’ starts re-indexing immediately.

10.5.7 update - no problems here

I am not bragging, just want to impart what I did after reading all the posts about the problems.
Downloaded the combo update from the Apple support site. 792 megs.

Repaired permissions.
Restarted in safe mode.
Installed the combo update.
Restarted (restarted one time on it's own after that). From restart in safe mode to final restart took about 25 - 30 minutes.
Repaired permissions once more.
I don't that it would have gone any differently had I just did a software update from the apple menu, but I didn't.
Hopefully anyone who hasn't done it yet has no problems and those that have and do have problems get them resolved quickly.

10.5.7 gave me spontaneous system crashes when running on battery power, with plenty of battery life left. To clarify: what I mean by 'spontaneous system crash' is, the machine behaves exactly as if the battery had been pulled out. Years ago I experienced similar behavior with old batteries that needed replacing. Currently, though, I actually have two young batteries that I alternate between, and the problem occurs with both batteries. I no longer have a laptop. I have a desktop.
I am sure it is not the logic board-- everything was fine until immediately after 10.5.7 upgrade. I bet that this is related to older logic boards, though-- I have the first intel MBP that came out. I have seen two people posting on discussions here saying that logic board replacements fixed their apparently identical problems. Perhaps these posters' logic board fixes happened because the upgrade replaced the older board with a more modern board that is not susceptible to the bug.
I will be downgrading to 10.5.6 ASAP, and I am not happy about it. Time machine is no help, because you can't revert the OS only, you have to lose all new data created after the system update.
It appears from the various postings here that upgrading to 10.5.7 is a kind of russian roulette. Many people (perhaps even most) have no problems, but then there are others (like me) who experience catastrophic problems. I would say to those who are considering the upgrade: are you feeling lucky?

The problem is being reported in the news media, yes. Apparently someone at Apple jumped the gun and uploaded the update before it was ready. They'll probably issue another update shortly, I would expect, but you can go here:

and follow the instructions to report the issue to the iTunes Store. If you have a backup copy of the older version of the app, remove the newer version, restore the old version to iTunes on your computer, and resync.
Update: Well, that was certainly quick. As of a short time ago, various sites are reporting that the Find My iPhone app is no longer displaying the previous error message. If it still is for you, delete it from your iPhone and re-download from the iTunes Store.

Many developers when they updated their apps fro the newer iOSs dropped support for the older iOSs. That included Skype and other developers. Unless you have a copy of the apps version that was compatible with your iPod/iOS you are out of luck. Do you cave such a copy in a computer file backup??
