No prompt for response file

Everyone at my office got new computers and upgraded software. So I am currently working with Adobe Reader XI and Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro.
I created a distributed form before the upgrade and now when I get responses back there is no prompt for the response file. I had recieved and saved about 6 before any changes were made, and have about 9 pending (don't know how to get them to the responses file). I am expecting about 600 so I need to figure this out NOW.
Any advice? Has this happened to anyone else? I am wondering if I need to create a new distributed form and email it out to everyone? I am trying to avoid that since I have already sent it out to all personnel here in my office more than once.
Thanks in advance!!

I FIGURED IT OUT!!

  • How to programmatically disable prompts for output file names in Acrobat X

My code to programmatically disable output file names (below) is not working on a Windows 7 64-bit machine using Acrobat Distiller X.  It works perfectly on a Windows XP machine with Acrobat Distiller 8.
The latest API Reference I was able to find is dated June 2008.  My logic follows this convention.
I have confirmed that the registry key is updated as specified below.  I have also confirmed that I am able to write to the directory indicated.
Please provide any suggestions to resolve.
    Thank You!
    ~Lori
'Create the Registry Key where Acrobat looks for a file name
            CreateNewRegistryKey HKEY_CURRENT_USER, _
                         "Software\Adobe\Acrobat Distiller\PrinterJobControl"
'Put the output filename (FilePath) where Acrobat could find it
            SetRegistryValue HKEY_CURRENT_USER, _
                     "Software\Adobe\Acrobat Distiller\PrinterJobControl", _
                     C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12\MSACCESS.EXE, _
                     T:\PDF Files\Current Week\NFS_Lori,Test.pdf

I remember seeing that the problem is thunking. A little more specifically, because it's a 32-bit driver but a 64-bit executable, there's a 32-bit system spooler process which will always show up as the EXE name.

  • Logon Prompt for linked files

We are linking to HTML pages that are not native to the portal.  When an end user clicks on the link they are asked to enter their KM id and password even though they are already logged it.  Is there a way to prevent this from happening?

    hi
first build the trust relationship between sender and reciever if they are in different domains as well if possible SSO and also check the authentication mechanism in native site  and if any firewall is involved you need to open its port for this portal to access.hope this helps you.

  • Did JWS prompt for file associations in 1.5?

I have a vague memory of running a sandboxed app. that claims file associations, and being pleased to see a prompt asking whether I (as a user) actually wanted to make the file association.
That was in 1.5. I just tried the same app. again in 1.6 (it is my [sandboxed demo of the JNLP API file services|http://pscode.org/jws/filetest-sandbox.jnlp]) and although I was prompted for 'desktop integration' (it also suggests a desktop shortcut) there was no prompt for the file association.
You can get the build files at the [page that describes the file service|http://pscode.org/jws/api.html#fs].
Is my memory faulty? Has there been a change in the way file associations are handled?
    Edit 1:
I forgot to add. The file type claimed is '.zzz'. A normal '.txt' file renamed to '.zzz' will open in my little demo just fine (tested it just then). So the file association is successful, it is just that I was not prompted, that bothers me.

I have exactly the same issue affecting InDesign and Illustrator. Photoshop had the same issue but it allowed you to set the default program. It seems the only way to do it is to open the program and open the document from there. This is a complete pain!

  • Safari 5 stopped prompting for file name when downloading.

    Hello,
On Safari 4, when I clicked a download link, Safari always prompted for a file name, so I could change it before starting downloading, I installed Safari 5 and "this" feature dissapeared. Can anyone help?
    Thank you in advance,
    Alex

Works for me: Right-click on the Paint.NET download file here. http://www.dotpdn.com/downloads/pdn.html
It opens a menu. I click Download Linked File As... and change the name. It downloads.
    What experience are you seeing?

  • Ask for the file name when printing on XP x64

I have just installed my CS3 on Windows XP x64. Installation was successful and all is working fine. But there are few things which are working differently and I can not find any way to fix it.
One of the problems I have is that I can not have it so that I will be asked for the name of the PDF file created. It simply goes through and allocates name of the file used for printing. It happens for all applications i.e. Word, Excel, InDesign, Corel. In my automatic processes I realy need to be prompted for the file name / location. Is it possible to modify some settings to have it under XP x64 ??? I hope it is.
    Thanks for advise.
    Tony

I would like to add few details which may help to find the source of the problem.
When I will select Adobe PDF as a printer, then click on Properties and select
    Prompt for Adobe PDF filename
in Adobe PDF Output Folder then printing starts and will not progress at all. If I will change the Adobe PDF Output Folder to local it prints OK but is not asking for the file name / destination.
How I can have it printing and asking for the file name / destination ? Or maybe on XP x64 it is not possible at all ?
    Regards,
    Tony

  • JSF error message: Automatic prompting for file download

This is a weird problem. I have a JSF application wherin I popup a new window on a submit button.
The window opens a test.jsf page that redirects the output to a servlet1.
Servlet then based on some parameters does a sendRedirectI() to different servlets out of context.
Now the issue is that when the output is redirected to out of context servlet, that returns a file download.
If in IE browser, if one does not do a setting of "Automatic prompting for file download", this window that I had opened on submit buttton vanishes in a jiffy. If the IE setting is done, it shows the file download correctly.
I would want to show the user some kind of message by which he/she understands that this IE setting has to be done.
    I have tried several ways:
    1. Javascript: window.onbeforeunload on the test.jsf so that when the window unloads i can show some message. But since test.jsf forwards to servlet1, the html page generated does not show my script.
    2. I also tried checking if some windows registry can help me understand the setting.
    3. I tried writing in response object the javascript and then redirecting it to servlet out of context. But I guess sendRedirect() does a new request, so this did not help.
Can anyone help? I am not sure if I am able to explain my problem correctly.
    Yani

Here is the result.I used your code and it worked fine with IE setting Enabled. But when I tried to access the download servlet after opening a new window, it doesnt download the file.

  • Prompt for downloadig a PPT-File from KM

    Hi,
    we´re using Netweaver 2004 with Stack 18.
When I try to opend a PPT-File (Office 2000 and 2003) direct from the portal, I get a prompt for download or open the file.
How can I open a PPT-File from the portal without this prompt ?
    Thx for help !
    Oliver

    Hi Oliver,
    (a) You must have the MS Office plugin working within IE (do you have? Does opening other PPT over the internet within IE work?)
    (b) The HTTP response delivering the PPT must provide the "right" content-type. You didn't write from where you download the PPT. From KM? From an self-developed application? To determin the correct content-type HTTP header, see (a) (where it works on the internet), check the content-type there. And if you have any influence to set the content-type header of the download in question, set it to the same value.
    Hope it helps

I have just transferred my entire application file from an Imac to an identical Imac, both running OS 10.9.5. Everything works fine, excepting that when I attempt to open Photoshop 6, I am prompted for the serial number. I enter the serial number provided by Adobe, which I have confirmed with my "previous purchase" records kept by Adobe. It is demanding a "qualifying product", all of which is contained in the complete files I transferred. Why can't Adobe recognise my valid serial number for Photoshop 6?

I have just transferred my entire application file from an Imac to an identical Imac,
    Say what?
    Please use the proper installer.
Are you really talking about Photoshop 6 or about Photoshop CS6?

  • How to create a response file for Acrobat 9 Pro?

I with to collect data from a PDF form made with LiveCycle Designer. The instruction say-
After a user submits a form, open the returned form.
In the Add Completed Form To Responses File dialog box, select one of the following:
I am totally baffled as to where the Add Completed From to Responses File dialog box is. I cannot find such a thing.
It is my understanding that once the dialog box found there are options, including creating a new response file. But, I can't find the box (and neither can my associates).
Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks in advance.

In Acrobat 9 Help look under 'Collecting and managing form data' and the other topics under this heading. It is in the "Forms" chapter.
    Collecting and managing form data
When you distribute a form, Acrobat automatically creates a PDF Portfolio for collecting the data submitted by users. By default, this file is saved in the same folder as the original form and is named
filename_responses. You can use this file to compile returned forms.
    Collect user data
1 After a user submits a form, open the returned form.
2 In the Add Completed Form To Responses File dialog box, select one of the following:
Add To An Existing Responses File
Compiles the data in the response file that was created when you used the Distribute Form wizard to send out the form. (If necessary, click Browse and locate the response file.)
    Create A New Responses File
Creates a new response file, using the name and location you specify.
The response file opens after you click OK. Each returned form added to the response file appears as a component file of a PDF Portfolio.
    Compile form data
1 In Acrobat, choose Forms > Compile Returned Forms.
2 In the Compile Data dialog box, do one of the following to select a PDF response file:
Click Browse, and then locate and select the response file.
Type the path to the response file.
3 Click Add File, and navigate to the returned form.
4 Repeat the previous step as many times as necessary to add more returned forms.
After you click OK, the data from the selected forms is added to the response file. Each returned form appears as a component file of a PDF Portfolio.
Add user data to an existing response file
1 In Acrobat, open the response file.
2 In the left navigation panel, click Add.
3 In the Add Returned Forms dialog box, click Add File. Then locate and select the returned forms, and click Open.
4 Repeat the previous step to add any returned forms in other folders. When finished, click OK.
When you finish, each added PDF form appears as a component file of the PDF Portfolio.
Export user data from a response file
Use this process to save all the entries in a PDF Portfolio response file to a spreadsheet or XML file.
1 In Acrobat, open the response file and select the data to export
2 In the left navigation panel, click Export.
3 In the Select Folder To Save File dialog box, specify a name, location, and file format (CSV or XML) for the form data, and click Save.

    Hi,
There is no record option with 11gR2.
There is no need to use '-record' flag to record/save the response file. At Summary page of installation, 11gR2 installer provides option to save the response file. We can perfom the silent installation using this saved response file
    Unix:
    ./runInstaller -silent -responseFile <saved_response-file>
    Windows:
    c:\software\11.2.0.1\database\setup.exe -responseFile <saved_response-file>
    For more details, kindly refer

4th point in the document explains about this
