No prompt to move icon to Applications File

I downloaded Firefox 4.0 Beta 12(2).dmg.
I followed Step 1, and got the cute little icon with the arrow to the Applications File. A note tells me that I will receive a prompt to move said icon to my Applications File. The prompt never appeared.
What now?

  • Custom Icon for application file

I can make director allow me to have a custom icon for appliacation file.
In director I have attempted this several times where I have tried to have my appliaction file have an icon.  I have purchased two icon program Candy Bar and Fastincs trying to remedy this problem.
As you see here I am using an ins file created in Fastincs.  Now here is an image to the path and the icon itself Applipcations/ Adobe Director 11/3 HorseLogo.mac.ins
So there is the setup now when I complile for my program file I get this.
See the grey Director icon I don't want that I want the three horse logo.
I also tried to assign the logo after publishing the file.
then I drag my icon file in
The program created in director still wont see the icon file.
If I use Candy bar (icon application)  I get a  different result. The icon works
in both finder and on the task bar
This is exactly what I want.
I works until I try to move the entire package into an installer program  I am using BitRock.  When I compile the installation program then try to run the application I get the following message
If I choose ignore the install continues.  But I have no icon.
I am desperate , weeping , screaming , and almost a lost cause, any help any help at all I could really use.
    Thanks

    Hi Robin,
I'm more of a PC person rather than Mac. I would recommend you look at the Resource and Icon Editor page at:
    http://collab.directorforum.com/Resource_and_Icon_Editor
It may fix your icon issue from Director.

  • While attempting to upgrade to Firefox 4, when prompted to drag icon to Applications, the Firefox icon has a white circle with a line through it, why?

I'm trying to load updated Firefox 4, when the blue drop down menu with the firefox icon and Applications folder icon (prompt to drag firefox icon to apps folder) the firefox icon has a white circle with a line through (like a "do not enter" symbol)

    Hello puma1552,
Are you referring to the *Do Not Disconnect* screen display while your iPod is plugged into and syncing with iTunes? Check out this Apple support document for its meaning and why you are receiving this icon. This icon always appears when you are syncing your iPod with iTunes. It's basically a warning message telling you that the iPod is currently in use and should not be removed.

  • Gray Sidebar Icons, Slow Application File Open/Save in OS-X 10.7

I hate the gray sidebar icons in Mac OS-X. I am a very visual person and every clue, including color, helps. I don't understand why Apple has found it necessary to take a giant step backward in time. Perhaps soon they will reintroduce black and white monitors.
Anyway, I downloaded a pluging that restores colors to the finder windows, but not the application file open/save dialogs. Also, many times the application open/save dialog windows are slow to load the sidebar window; i.e. I can't do anything until they load the the folders, files, and devices available to open.
Does anyone have a fix for this? Does anyone know if Apple plans to restore colored icons?
    Thanks - Bill

    Try rebuilding Finder prefs....
Go to your Finder "Go" menu hold the option key and choose Library. Then go to Preferences folder and trash these files:
    com.apple.finder.plist
    com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
Then, restart, or log out and in again.
(You will have to reset a few finder prefs the way you like them.)
EDIT: Could it be whatever app you're using for the FInder windows that's causing that slowness?

  • How do I move/copy the application files of a cloud application to another Mac?

I am located in Greenland, and we are thinking of buying and installing Adobe CC on several of our Mac computers. However, if we have to install from the internet every time, that will be a show-stopper. Here we actually pay pr. Gigabyte we download, and it is very slow and expensive. Hence, having to install and update every computer individually is not an option.
On all other applicaitons we can download the app files and install individually, and then get it running with logins to appropriate systems or have unique serial numbers. How does this work with Adobe CC?

Killerbob are you planning on purchasing Creative Cloud Individual accounts or Creative Cloud for Teams?  Creative Cloud for Teams includes the ability to deploy the Adobe Creative software included with your membership over your local network.    This means you will only need to download the installation files once to create the installer packages.
You can find more information regarding Creative Cloud for Teams at Membership plans: Pricing | Adobe Creative Cloud.

  • Follow-up to earlier question; you asked me by email to confirm that I asked a question. I did. The question was: if I don't get a prompt to drag the ff icon into my Applications file, how do I do so?

I downloaded the latest version of Firefox as requested. I was told to drag the icon to my Application file when prompted. The download was successful, but I never got the prompt. And so I still have the old version of Firefox (3.6.24) and the home page still tells me I'm using an out-dated version. So what do I do?

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop

I have just transferred my entire application file from an Imac to an identical Imac, both running OS 10.9.5. Everything works fine, excepting that when I attempt to open Photoshop 6, I am prompted for the serial number. I enter the serial number provided by Adobe, which I have confirmed with my "previous purchase" records kept by Adobe. It is demanding a "qualifying product", all of which is contained in the complete files I transferred. Why can't Adobe recognise my valid serial number for Photoshop 6?

I have just transferred my entire application file from an Imac to an identical Imac,
    Say what?
    Please use the proper installer.
Are you really talking about Photoshop 6 or about Photoshop CS6?

  • Firefox will no longer open on my Mac. I have tried downloading the new 7.0 but it does not prompt movement to the application folder. How to I make it work?

I have tried multiple times to update the firefox7.0. It appears to download fine but I never get a prompt to move it to the applications folder. Now Firefox will not open at all (it was functioning sporatically over the past several months). How to fix?

AFAIK cameras offer their own built-in format utility for inserted SD cards.  You should use that.  Otherwise, refer to the manual that came with your camera to determine precisely how your SD cards need to be formatted to work properly.  Personally, I'd suggest Partition Scheme: MBR, and Filesystem: FAT32.
Try to limit the number of formats you perform on the SD cards, though, as you're reducing their lifespan.  I believe formatting causes re-writes to a portion of the SD card that has fewer read/write cycles than the rest of the card as a whole.

After installing Acrobat/Reader on Windows 7 or Vista, icons of all applications/file-types change to Acrobat/Reader icon and double clicking on any icon/file launches Acrobat/Reader (instead of the native application associated to the file type). Is there an easy fix for this problem?

I'm sorry, but I wasn't aware of a native PDF viewer for Windows.
Nonetheless, if you want to change your default PDF application in Windows, you need to right click on any .PDF file, select "Properties",
    then "Change",
then select the program you want to open a PDF with.

  • Create a custom dock/application icon for .jar files built in eclipse

I've spent the better part of the afternoon trying to figure out how to apply a custom icon to jar file that I created in eclipse. I am presently using eclipse v3.5 on Mac OS X 10.6.2 and have yet to find a way to change the java coffee cup logo in the document icon for my jar files created in eclipse. Is there some way I can call a specific Apple class in Eclipse to change the dock/application icon of my .jar file?
I found this link that uses a class that seems to be specific to XCode to change the icon of the .jar file.
What I mean by change the icon of the jar file, I mean change the icon used in the dock, and also the icon used when the "command+tab" switcher pops up. Presently, I have the black console icon with the text "exec" in the upperleft.
If anyone has any good links on this topic or even better knows the code I need insert into my program I would be highly greatful.
    cheers

  • Where are the actual Aperture files located? Only in the application? I am transitioning to Lightroom and would like to only move some of the files. Advice appreciated. Also anyone know how to transfer in with edits?

Where are the actual Aperture files located? Only in the application? I am transitioning to Lightroom and would like to only move some of the files. Advice appreciated. Also anyone know how to transfer in with edits? Using iMac, OS X, most recent Aperture and Lightroom 5.7 with plugin for Aperture.

    Define "the Aperture files".
    Read this concise guide.
The files you imported into an Aperture Library can be exported (at any time, and repeatedly) using the command "File ▹ Export ▹ Originals".  Your Originals are never altered.  What went in is what comes out.
Adjustments and changes to the metadata that you made since creating an Image in Aperture by importing a file are saved to a text file.  This file is combined, on-the-fly, with the Original to create the Image that you see in Aperture.  There is no file saved to disk that is the full-size Image.  Thumbnails are saved, and Previews are saved.  These are JPG files, almost always smaller than the Original.  They are not substitutes for the Image for the use you have.
When you need a file of an Image to use in another program, you export the Image from Aperture.  "Export" means "Make me a file of this Image according to these file specs I'm providing".  The way to get files of your adjusted Images is simple:  create them by exporting.  Specify "Original size", and use a loss-less image-file format (e.g. TIFF 16-bit) if you want to retain as much visual information as possible.
Search the Web for information about transitioning from Aperture to Lightroom.  Note that I say "transitioning".  You cannot move a database from one format to another without significant changes, and likely some loss of information.  Adobe provides a tool and some instructions.  I strongly recommend working out the process step-by-step, and then proceeding with first a few Images, then a bushel-ful, and stopping to use the first few, the the bushel-ful, before committing your entire collection to the process.
As always, never use any computer file without having a back-up.
We have seen mixed reports here of the success of the LR tool that creates a LR database from your Aperture database.
If you want to carefully define the process, and test and refine it, use the excellent process-development, analysis, and execution program inShort.
Sadly, there is not and can never be a good, thorough re-positioning of the digital assets in your Aperture Library to become digital assets in a LR database.  Just as a metaphor for any user contemplating transitioning to another digital asset manager:  that would be like digging up a house in one country, planting it in a hole in another country, and expecting to be able to use the toilet and the sinks, turn on the lights, cook dinner, and sleep soundly.
    HTH,
    Kirby.
