no radio signal despite headphones being plugged in

Make sure the headphone jack is fully inserted. The jack should be touching the ipod body.

  • T440p: Audio coming from speakers despite headphone being plugged into jack

This doesn't always happen, but I've noticed a few times on my T440p that when I have headphones plugged in, sounds comes out of the speakers. The headphones are functional and fully plugged in, yet no sound comes out of them, and the sound comes out of the speakers. I've fixed this multiple times by unplugging the headphones and plugging them back in.
Has anyone else had this problem? If so, have you been able to fix it? The reason it is a problem for me is that it distracts those working around me.
    Thanks.
(my problem differs from this one, where sounds comes from both the headphones and speakers)
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Look for a multistream option in the Realtek audio control panel. Make sure it's set to unify headphones and speakers.
Alternatively, if you want audio to only come out of the headphones and not switch dynamically, go to the Sound control panel in Windows, and set headphones as default.

  • My volume doesnt work and when i press the volume button it shows the headphones volume on the screen without any headphones being plugged in. what can i do to fix this?

My volume on my iPad doesnt work, when I press the voulme button it shows the headphones volume on the screen without any headphones being plugged in. Is there a fix for this?

Try going to settings> general > reset> reset all settings. If that doesn't work. Place a headphone jack in there and just pull it out a couple times. The problem is either your iPad setting is stuck or there is actually a hardware problem and moving the jack in and out might fix it

  • Am picking up radio signals through my HDMI port?

I have created a "home theater" experience in my living room, and all was well until yesterday...  I have an Epson 705HD projector hooked up to my MacBook Pro using the HDMI port.  For audio I use a Y-cable to connect my computer to my Sony stereo receiver.  This was a sweet setup and worked perfectly, but yesterday in the middle of watching a movie I started noticing a quiet (but noticable and annoying) radio signal coming through the stereo.  Seems like this only happens when I have all the components plugged in together...  Now I'm trying to troubleshoot which product is the root cause of the audio interference.
    - I don't hear the radio signal when I have just my laptop plugged into the stereo (HDMI port isn't in use)
    - I don't hear the radio signal when I everything plugged in except the stereo (I use headphones for audio, opposed to the stereo)
    - I hear the radio signal when I touch the HDMI chord to the comporter's HDMI port when the stereo is plugged in
I want to blame everything on the Sony receiver since that's the cheapest thing to replace.  Could it be the HDMI chord?  Something broke in the projector?  Perhaps my computer's HDMI port is messed up from too much plugging/unpluggin?
What's weird is this just started happening, never heard any static/radio noise before.  Help/solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Reminds me of my grad school days in Rochester, NY, when vinyl was the source of all music. I had a decent stereo system for an impoverished student, but imagine my surprise when I learned, and not gently, that the phono cartridge in my turntable was perfectly attuned to receive the radio frequency used by the Rochester public transit bus dispatcher, whose signal was very strong indeed. I might be grooving along to Jefferson Starship, the Grateful Dead or Pink Floyd, gently ratlling the windows throughout our apartment and adjoining houses, puffing on a little of this or a little of that, when without warning I would be jolted out of my chair and across the room by an ear-shattering interjection of static-laden and distorted verbiage about the University Avenue local D bus, whose driver had just been vomited on my a drunk and needed advice about how to handle it. It was a real mood-spoiler for me. I replaced my phonograph cartridge and the problem was solved

  • Envy laptop confused about aux jack being plugged/unplugged; no sound from internal speakers

So I was typing all normal like, didn't do anything stupid or weird, but suddenly the music I was playing through my laptop's internal speakers just stopped.
And despite nothing being plugged in the auxiliary jack, the laptop thinks something IS plugged in and doesn't play sound through the internal speakers. So no sound at all.
And on the flip side, when I plug headphones in the aux jack, the laptop says that "You have just unplugged a device from the audio jack" but then plays normally through the headphones. Internal speakers still silent.
It's like the laptop suddenly got confused in whatever component registers the auxiliary connection, but I don't understand why it still plays through the headphones when it thinks there is nothing plugged in. And also why the internal speakers don't work AT ALL.
It has Beats Audio, if that helps at all. I tried restarting, messing around with the sound settings but I honestly have no idea what I'm doing and anyways nothing has changed from that.
    Anyways, yeah, help?
This is a pretty new laptop, only about a month old.

  • 6th gen nano keeps dispalying no radio signal even though I have the earpiece plugged in. Can anyone advise please?

6th gen nano keeps displaying no radio signal even though I have the earpiece plugged in. Can anyone advise? Thanks

    Hey there larkandwarbler,
It sounds like you are experiencing multiple issues with this iPod Nano 5th Gen. From what you are describing it seems we can isolate this to either the software or the hardware on the device with a couple of simple steps assuming you have tried another set of headphones. First, reset your iPod with this article:
    How to reset iPod
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1320
How to reset an iPod with a Click Wheel
iPod models with a Click Wheel include:
    iPod nano (5th generation)
    iPod nano (4th generation)
    iPod nano (3rd generation)
    iPod nano (2nd generation)
    iPod nano
Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep. Try resetting the iPod while it is connected to power.
If you are able to reset it, but the issue persists, or you are unable to reset it, I would next attempt restoring it with iTunes:

  • Headphones no longer work after being plugged into speaker

Hi i purchased a ipod touch 5th generation 32 gb bundle from target just over a week ago which came with the iCoustic 20 in 1 Accessory kit Model No : IC184. After plugging the ipod into the supplied speaker this morning trying to listen to music it kept making stacic like noises and changing volume it was alwful to try and listen so gave up and went back to taking it off speaker and playing it back through apple headphones but now after being plugged into the speaker the headphones wont work its just a buzzing sound if you turn the volume up all the way loud the music will come back through headphones then when turning it down it cuts out again or if you manage to get the music it will stop after a couple of seconds. I have done a factory reset but it has made no difference. Please help have a very upset daughter it is frustrating do we take this back for a refund and get a new one if so how do we keep the music and photos etc she has on this one? Thankyou.

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Check also Settings > General > Accessibility > Hearing. Make sure that the sound balance is not set all the way to "R".
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

  • I've tried to update my i-Tunes version after the site suggested I should following my i-Pad being plugged into it for the first time. The update seemed successful but the program would not open at all despite switching off the PC and re-starting several

I’ve tried to update my i-Tunes version after the site suggested I should following my i-Pad Air being plugged into it for the first time. The update seemed successful but the program would not open at all despite switching off the PC and re-starting several times. I then tried wiping the original software from the computer and re-downloading from scratch. Each time I tried the download failed with a message saying “Service “Apple Mobile Device” failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services” At this stage, the only way forward was to “abort” the download. This I have done now four times and the same thing happens. When I did finally manage to get an i-Tunes shortcut on my desktop, the program wouldn’t open saying: “i-Tunes was not installed correctly. Please re-install i-Tunes. Error 7 (Windows error 193)” Any ideas to resolve this?

  • Gen 5 has lost volume control of headphones and also radio does not recognize headphones are plugged in.

gen 5 has lost volume control of headphones and also radio does not recognize headphones are plugged in.  Any Ideas on a fix?

The earphones must be pushed very hard into the iPod. So hard, that the white part of the plug must touch the iPod in order for the external speakers to turn off. You will hear a click.
If you do a forum search, you will find this same solution. If it does not work, you will need to take your iPod to an apple store or call the Apple iPod tech support if still under warranty or you have Apple Care.

  • HT4316 my 6th gen nano won't p/u any radio signals when I plug in earbuds

My 6th gen nano doesn't seem to recognize the earbuds are inserted.  It tells me to insert them in order to p/u radio signals when they are already in.  How can I get FM radio to work? Thx!

I don't understand why you only recvd 5pts, I clicked on "This solved my question", as it did.
I had tried 3 sets of headphones but not inserted them far enough in, afraid of damaging my
new gadget.  I was quite frustrated.  Anyway, I suppose 5 beats 0, thank you again and I
    apologize for points mixup.

  • IPod nano 6th gen (brand new) doesn't recognize when headphones are plugged in

I have a brand new iPod nano (6th gen), and it doesn't detect when headphones are plugged in. I have read that the problem can ocurr because the headphones are not correctly inserted (which is not the case.. i'm absolutely sure about this) or that the headphone jack has dust inside (which is also not the case, since it is brand new).
    This is what happens:
When i play a song, and then press the sleep/wake button to turn off the display, the music stops. Or if i let the music play, it stops when the screen times out and turns off. These two things occur because the ipod "thinks" that there are no headphones inserted.
When i try to activate the FM radio, the radio won't start because it says that there is no radio signal (which occurs when no headphones are connected).
Needless to say, the microphone and volume controls of the iphone headset, don´t work at all (they even work on the ipod shuffle!).. and because of this, no voice recording for me!
It's a shame, because the FM radio is completely useless, and music playing only works by activating the "double click to play" option in the settings menu.. but it is somewhat cumbersome the process of "play music - turn off the screen - double click to resume playing" every time I select a song.
The headphone detection has only worked randomly when the ipod is connected to the computer, but i haven't been able to figure out under what conditions this occurs. I have read about this issue, and I only would like to know if this is a firmware bug of the 1.2 version. I tried unsuccesfully to downgrade the firmware to the 1.1 version (maybe because the ipod shipped with the 1.2 version).
I have also restored the device in itunes, with no luck.....
Thanks in advance for any useful answer!

    Thanks for your answer...
The headphones that i'm using, are the ones that were included with the iphone 4 (so, they are original).. however this shouldn't be a problem, as the ipod should work fine with whatever headphones i choose to use (sound quality will vary, of course).
The ipod does the same with the headphones that were included in the box, and with every pair of headphones i have used to test, so i'm certain that the ipod has an issue.
I hope that the picture is clear enough.. here you can see that the headphones are fully inserted, and the ipod is not recognizing them.

  • No Radio Signal while in in Speaker Dock

I would like to play my iPod nano 5th generation radio in my JBL Speaker dock. I get "No Radio Signal, please plug in headphones for radio reception" error when I try to play radio in the speaker dock. So, now I know the antenna is in the earbuds!
Of course, the earbud jack is on the botton of the nano and is covered up when I set the nano in the dock! Is there a way to use an external antenna on the dock, or maybe an ipod adaptor/spacer that raises the iPod an inch or so for clearance to plug the earbuds in while docked?
    Thanks
