No realtime adjustments previewed using sliders in PS CS6

Hi
I'm running PS CS6 on a new imac 27" and I'm using a wacom intuos 4. If I make any adjustments using a slidebar such as hue/saturation, brighness/contrast etc. no changes are seen in the image when previewing until I stop the slider. As I move a slider left to right the image changes remains frozen until I stop. This is making any adjustments using the sliders impossible without highlighting the naumbers and using the arrow keys to adjust up /down. Has anybody else experienced similar? With thanks.

Hi Sudarshan,
thanks for your reply. The system spces are below for you.

  • Why use sliders in adjustment HUD?

Monitoring this list, I've noticed a number of posters citing performance problems with the sliders in the adjustment HUD (jerky, slow, "totally unusable", etc.).
I'm curious why the sliders are being used at all? To me the sliders adjustments are far too coarse when compared to clicking on the arrows left and right of the numeric values, holding down the shift key when larger change increments are desired, or holding down the option key when smaller change increments are appropriate. Unless I'm missing something, adjusting "by the numbers" seems to give much finer control over adjustments AND more instantaneous screen feedback (i.e., performance) than using the sliders. The sliders, while visually attractive and intuitive, are the last method I'd consider for making adjustments to image tone, color, sharpness, etc. (Remember, digital photography at its core is all about the numbers.)
Here's an example: Say I have an image with a White Balance temperature of 5200 and, from examining the image and checking neutral values where available, I decide the image color cast needs to be a bit less red. I hold down the shift key and click the left arrow by the 5200 temp value. Each click results in a change of minus 100 in the temp value, and near instantaneous feedback on the image color change, even in full screen mode. Five quick clicks and the temperature is now at 4700, I'm satisfied with the color cast of the image and move on to the next adjustment or next image. If I use the sliders to make the same adjustment, I have to do a lot of back and forth mouse movements -- overshooting or undershooting until I achieve the temperature and color cast I am aiming for. That is a frustrating way to make color cast (or other) adjustments, even with something like the Levels or HSL tools in Photoshop. Worse, Aperture may be attempting to to process/redraw the image for every tiny increment of pointer movement, leading to increased load on the graphics processor and CPU.
Truly, I mean no offense to anyone on this list, but I do wonder if some of the frustrations with Aperture performance are related to which image adjusment mechanism is being used? As with Photoshop, there are multiple ways to accomplish the same objective in Aperture and it takes time to learn the nuances and benefits of each approach -- reading the manuals, experimenting, picking up forum tips, etc.
Again, I'm asking this question primarily to explore the root causes as to why some users, including myself, are quite satisfied with Aperture performance and others are totally dissatisfied. Could it be, in addition to hardware configuration differences (graphics cards and amount of memory being prime suspects), that there is also a usage pattern element to performance?
BTW, I'm working exclusively with 12.8 MP Canon 5D raw files for my newer images, 6.3 MP D60, 10D and 20D raw files for my older images. Don't know if there is also a platform difference in performance (e.g., Canon raw vs. Nikon nef)

I click on the slider and wait about 2 seconds, and
then slide the slider, the slider moves sort of

That seems to be a 6600LE issue.
the second issue is that after I have been adjusting

Well, this issue seems to have been brought along by Aperture 1.1 and isn't video card related, at least people with 7800GT cards report it as well.
So, O.K., I bite. It's not Aperture, it's the video
card. Show me where I can buy a video card for less
than $800 to fit my PCI-E bus PowerMac.
Well, actually Aperture 1.1 might be the culprit for the second issue. It's a lot better than some people claim, but that doesn't mean, that there can't be bugs inside.

  • Local adjustments - jumping between sliders

    Hi.
In short - <tab> button does not work in the panels of Local Adjustment Brush and Graduated Filter.
In detail, I often adjusting images using keyboard, especially in the Basic panel.
Because it's better to use sliders from top to right, I'm using following procedure:
    1. Clicking to text field of the top most slider (usually Exposure)
    2. Adjusting value using Shift+Up/Down Arrows
    3. Fine tuning using Up/Down Arrows
    4. Pressing Tab to jump to next slider, or Shift+Tab for previous if needed
    And so on.
But unfortunatly Tab and Shift+Tab does not work in the panels of Local Adjustments tools.
I think this is not a bug but rather missing feature - it does not work in previous versions too.
    But it's really missing.

When doing heavy highlight or exposure recovery using local adjustments on RAW files I can see a demonstrable difference many times between using automask and not using it.
The "heavy highlight or exposure recovery" is a key...Auto Mask works well when the adjustment are subtle–which is what it was designed for. If you are expecting accurate masking when making radical changes, it simply will not work. For that you really need to go into Photoshop and use really accurate selection techniques to get accurate results.

    Hi,
Basically Crystal report run with SQL statement, I would suggest to do well performance tuning on SQL query / Store Procedure.
Structure your query in DBA manner that will make some how faster such as use ( inner join, less condition,...)..
also if it simple query then use Command in Crystal report rather store Procedure..that make some how Faster your report.
    Thanks

  • How do you preview using a spool request number

How do you preview using a spool request number?
I have an application in which I have accumulated the results from several smartforms into one spool request. I have the spool request number, and am printing it using function RSPO_RPRINT_SPOOLREQ.
I need to be able to preview the contents of the spool request before printing. I can not preview when generating the smartforms, as that involves several previews, and I need to preview once only per spool request.
I have been trying to use RSPO_RDISPLAY_OUTREQ but it dumps immediately (line 47) with field symbol <FTSP01> not assigned.

    Hello everyone!
I've started having an issue with CS5 crashing anytime I try to preview a doc with out saving it first.

  • Is there a Refresh Preview option in Adobe Bridge CS6 (mac)?

    Hi,
Just been doing a short tutorial on creating a web photo gallery with Bridge CS6..I notice in the tutorial that there are two options for preview ie: preview in browser and refresh preview.
Try as I might I cant seem to find refresh preview..I have to keep opening a new browser to see preview..
Does CS6 Bridge have this option or is it only preview in browser?
if it does have refresh preview how do i find it?
Im using the MAC version of cs6
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated..

my key key point is i would like to be able to preview a pdf photo gallery in bridge instead of having to go back & forth to a browser..
As said, not much experience with Web gallery but I do do recall the difference for CS6. The refresh Preview button indeed has been removed and it seems to have something to do with difficulties using the Opera browser and also something with Flash in Bridge before but now I'm on very thin ice so don't shoot me if I'm wrong.
So sadly enough you are bound to use the default browser for your previews instead of the output preview use before CS6
On the other hand it is also showing how other people will see in. in a real life browser

Your problem is that the program wants a good video card and a fast hard drive and lots of memory and you have none of the above. If you upgraded the RAM to 8 gigs and installed a solid state hard drive you might make the program useable but the real bottleneck  is going to be the Intel HD graphics, which cannot be upgraded.
You do have an open slot to add one 4 gig memory module. This is an easy relatively inexpensive upgrade. See here:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7FvZ-JduRM
    http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/ct51264bf160b
I would try this a step at a time. Next would be the solid state drive. That would cost maybe $150. Post back if you need more help.

The individual file has become corrupted somehow.
Happens often to users who work across a network, opening or saving a Photoshop image file to a server.
You're going to have to resort to your backup.
This is the boilerplate text often used in connection to saving to a network (please NOTE the part where it explains that normally, it does work, but that it is impossible to troubleshoot someone else's network remotely, and that's why it's not supported by Adobe):
If you are opening files over a network or saving them to a network server, please cease and desist immediately in the event you are currently experiencing problems with one or more files. Working across a network is not supported.
    See:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/406/kb406793.html
Copy the CLOSED file from your server to your local hard disk, work on it, save it again to your local hard disk, close it, and copy the closed file back to the server.
Of course, the fact that Adobe does not support working across a network does not necessarily mean it won't work.   It should.
Adobe's position is that there are too many variables in a network environment for them to guarantee that everything will work correctly in every network, especially given the fact that if something does not work properly, it's probably the network's fault, and Adobe has no way of troubleshooting your network.
If you can't work locally, you are on your own, and if something happens, you're on your own. If you must work from a server, make sure your network administrator is a competent professional.
When problems arise, a lot of valuable work can be lost.

  • I can't  preview svg files in bridge cs6 on mac 10.6.8. Help!

Hi, I want to know why can't I preview svg files in bridge cs6 on mac 10.6.8. It's really frustrating as an increasing number of Illustrator files are saved in this format and I need to check through a gazillion of them. Help!

Thanks for the promt reply Omke!
That was the reason why the thumbnail icons weren't showing up in Bridge. Saving to include XMP data somehow brings in the previews in Bridge.
I don't really need SVG files for print jobs (prefer .eps or .ai), however this appears to be the preferred file format at the picture library where I bought the vector images.
Darn, I was hoping that was not the solution, as in order to view the images in Bridge, I will first have to open and  re-save them.
Seems painful but thanks all the same. Would there be a way in Bridge to batch open and re-save files in another format, say from .svg to .ai ?

The Adobe auto updater is pretty decent in CS6.  Just go to the Photoshop Help menu > Updates.
You will be able to update ACR, Photoshop and Bridge right there, if there are in fact updates available.
