No rear channel playback when set to 5.1 in speaker settings?

=No rear channel playback when set to 5. in speaker settings?I have a 4. speaker setup. It's the kind designed for computers that runs the line out into the subwoofer and splits the audio into each channel from there, unlike the standard home theater setups that run from a receiver. It's connected from the computer with two analog lines (left/right & rear left/rear right).
The output modes available on the speaker system are stereo, stereox2, Prologic, quad, and Dolby Digital.
I want to be able to set the speakers to Dolby Digital and and have my soundcard (X-Fi Titanium Fatalty) set to 5. Surround on the Speaker Setup screen. I believe this would support the most playback options. The problem is that when I test the audio channels I get no feedback from the rear channels. It works perfectly fine if I set the speakers to quad but won't playback the rear channels when set to Dolby Digital for some reason. I've tried disabling CMSS 3D with no luck either - Dolby[/b] or DTS soundtracks, you will need to turn CMSS off. Otherwise you might not receive each discrete channel."
The closest I've been able to get to the optimal setting of 5. with the speakers set to Dolby Digital is to put the speakers on quad and switch to 5. in the speaker setup (and disable the center and sub channels so center gets mixed into l/r and sub gets mixed a little into each channel keeping each 5. channel broadcast even though it's a 4. setup).
Any ideas as to why I can't get any rear channel playback with 5. and my speakers Dolby Digital?

I'm having the same problem with my audigy 2. I reloaded my computer and installed and updated the drivers, and when I go to the pull down box in Speaker Settings nothings there. Can anyone help?

im using the kn7420 mobo with a set of old 4.1 speakers in analog.
before my recent windows reinstall they worked perfectly i.e. sound out of all four speakers.  now no matter which driver set i use or what options i set i cant get any sound out of the rear channel in applications.  If i use the speaker test in the nforce control panel i can get it to work with certain settings but never with winamp or any games.
my speakers are creative fps 1600
    any help would be appreciated
    thank you

Set cloning in the new audio drivers 4.31. In AC3 filter settings set 5.1 speakers. In WinAmp go preferences-Output-DirectSound-configure set Nvidia Audio and hardware accel. (Thanks to Wonkanoby)

  • Samples Per Channel Matter when Taking Continous Samples?

So noob question of the day. I have been playing around with the lightbulb feature. Anyways, I notice my array size is greater than my samples per channel input. Does the DAQmx sample clock even look at the samples per channel input when set to continous?

Did you check the help file for the DAQmx sample clock function?
"samples per channel specifies the number of samples to acquire or generate for each channel in the task if sample mode is Finite Samples. If sample mode is Continuous Samples, NI-DAQmx uses this value to determine the buffer size."

  • Crackling, Left Rear Channel noise, IRQs, 4 Gigs of Memory, fixes and problems with XFi Fatal

Hello fellow troubleshooters. Well I've been working on my XFI issues since there are so many of them trying to make the one piece in my newly built system work as intended. I will put my hardware info below this post for comparison purposes if it helps you at all or for feedback/ideas. Well first off I had the crackling noise popping so on even when my machine was idle. If you have not done this yet do it
!!! Start, Control Panel, Sounds Speech and Audio Device, Change Speaker Settings, Advanced (in device volume), ok now there is a bunch of sliders go to "options" check everything, ok now that you see all the sliders mute Everything besides: Play Control, Wave, CD Player for testing purpose. You will probably hear a difference as you do it. Especially Mic 2. Ok well that issue resolved my popping crackling noises when idle. Ok so I still have a shared IRQ issue since I have an Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe board and the slots go as such PCI-E, PCI, PCI, PCI-E, PCI. Well since the GeForce 7800 GTX cards I have take up not just the PCI-E slot, but also the PCI slot is covered from the Huge Fan. Then the Same thing for the Second graphics card. So I have only one slot that works for my PCI Fatalty sound card. Well this forces me to share PCI IRQ between one of the Video Cards and the Sound Card. Its not a "conflict" it is simply sharing the IRQ, after the above issue fixed my popping issue this no longer was a concern. Now my big issue is that I sent my Sub Woofer in for RMA, I have the Gigaworks S750 7. THX speakers, they are great but when I really crank up the volume on them I would get the sound like a speaker was blown in the left rear channel, so I swapped another speaker in its place and I have the same problem. So the RMA folks said to send in the Sub Woofer which cost me over $30 to ship the thing only to have them tell me there is no problem. Well I had recently done RMAs on my sound card, both Video Cards, and my mother board too in hopes of fixing the next problem. So everything is new though I got a refurb on the mobo. So I'm just waiting on my Sub woofer now so I'm using my headphones and guess what I'm finding there is this noise in the left speaker, an issue I sent the headphones back for a long time ago when I was using them waiting to buy my speakers. I have the Creative Pro Gamer headphones. So now I read a post about someone else with the same issue left channel, and I have to wonder I am not alone and that usually means in Creative Labs land there probably is others with this issue that have spouses that wont let them stretch their audiophile legs with extreme volume, if this is you try it out kick up the bass, and see if you have this problem too, if so please post it here. I have no clue on this one and I am open to any ideas. Ok and the last issue!! This is the real problem I'm facing now. I play EQ2 I love my MMO titles with the occassional single player title for those short stints at the computer between work, parenting, and stuff my wife demands be started before she finishes speaking of it (those of you married know what I'm talking about). I have 2 operating systems, XP Home, and XP Pro 64. Home I use for Office, graphic design, and general applications. XP Pro 64 I use purely for gaming. All my games are installed through this OS which is on my 2 74 Gig Raptors in Raid 0, I have another Partition for XP Home, and a 3rd for all the game installs. So I recently found that after selecting Extreme Graphics option in EQ2 then moving the rest of the sliders to Max that my G5 keyboard which has a performance monitor in it showing the amount of Ram usage showed me hitting about 90% and would spilke at the same time as I found I had frame rate slowdown. So I decided to get 2 more gigs of Corsair Twin XMS 3500Pro 024x2 memory bumping me up to 4 gigs. Well I had to go into the bios I found and change a memory setting to discrete and enable the memory hole in order for XP Pro 64 and the motherboard to see the memory. At this time I was working on other things with my computer, and suddenly the popping noise came back so I'm pissed now.... But oddly its not happening in XP home, only in XP 64. So I'm thinking I may have to go to XP home for my gaming OS, then just before I install home I remember that XP home wont register 4 gigs of memory.... So I go turn off the memory hole and discrete settings and this sets the memory to 2 gigs.... Crackling sound in ALL EAX GAMES goes away.... So now clearly my issue with my sound card and EAX crackling noise is Memory related somehow. Now I have isolated it to 4 gigs of memory, but it makes me think of those folks with this issue perhaps something is amiss with their memory and how it works with timing, or onboard memory on the sound card which is a first time memory is put on a sound card?.... Any input is appreciated as to how to repair this issue, thanks for reading, below is my system set up.

    Evolve,
I have the a8n-sli Premium which as you stated is basically the same board with a couple extra items. I have the latest beta bios ver -06. Since the early fall release the option which we will be talking about was available in the premium board which it I remember was Bios rev 9. I would download the latest bios rev.
07.04 (latest beta?or go with 06)?and flash in. Here are the steps to get the proper memory options to work and I have also included my system specs to compare.
) Hit Del to get into Bios
    2) Go to the second tab on the top of the screen "Advanced"
    3) Select the first option in the menu "CPU Configuration"
    4) Select the first option in the "CPU Configuration" menu called "DRAM Configuration"
    5) Select Manual configuration from the first Menu item.
    6) The last two options in the same menu for DRAM are s/w remapping over 4G and h/w remapping over 4G. Select the "s/w remapping option over 4G" and enable it. Disable the "h/w remapping over 4G."?
    7) Hit f0 and save the config.
You should now at post have 4GBws total but only 3GBs of usable memory and your X-fi should crush it in XP64 and XP32.
    My Specs
    A8n-sli premium (Bios -06)
    amd X2 4400 (~2.5 GHZ)
4GB LL patriot memory (~228 HZ)
    X-Fi Extreme Music
LSI 320-2e PCI express SCSI RAID controller (256MB buffer)
    2x Seagate Cheata 5K.3?dri'ves
    All water cooled
    Good Luck
    PapaH
By the way this is defiantly a XP64 driver problem because even with h/w remapping enabled in XP32 the card sounds fine. It only happens in XP64.

  • Rear channels mix

    Hi everyone.
Been searching for a solution to this issue from a few weeks now and can't even find aonyone with a similer problem so I thought I would post in here.
First off I have installed the latest drivers after removing the prior ones as suggested. Problem remains.
I have a package deal (card and speakers) Audigy Surround 5., Inspire 5300.
My issue is during the speaker test the rear channels both have sound coming out of them. Speakers are confirmed on the 5. set up and the balance /fade is right in the middle.
When the rear left is spoken, both the rear speakers come through stong and clear saying rear left.
When the rear right is spoken it is very quiet but still slightly audible from both rear speakers.
This remains the same when I swap the speaker plugs in the back of the subwoofer.
Now I also have a 5. headset for gaming (Zalman) and when I run the test with these plugged into the card, the sound comes through each channel perfectly.
Is it safe to assume that there is something wrong with the subwoofer itself? Or am I missing something fundamental?
    Thanks in advance,
    Taikun

Had the same exact problem, like most, i always assume its a software problem before getting that slap-in-the-face?that is a hardware problem. Just try adjusting the rear speaker connection from the sound card to the subwoofer. Unless of course your using digital...in which case?I don't know lol. That is what?I did... I unplugged it and plugged it back in. It should work after that! Now my "Wicked" soundtrack comes in loud and clear :smileyvery-happy:?Good luck!

  • Apogee Duet/ Logic 8 - Lose Right Channel Sound When Recording

Hi all. Using Logic Pro 8.0 on an Intel iMac, OS 10.11, with 2 Seagate Ext. FW Drives with an Apogee Duet.
Here's the problem that's recently developed and reoccurring more frequently when recording into Logic:
I plug guitar or a mic into channel 1 of the Duet ( have double checked everything connection-wise - all good)
I hear the signal from the input in both ears... everything fine so far.
I record or rehearse and all is well.
I stop the playback and then I only hear/monitor my current instrument or mic in one ear (usually the left - the right channel disappears. This has nothing to do with the headphone or speaker connections as all pre-recorded tracks are still coming out in stereo (both ears).
Sometimes if I just press play and stop, the missing side will reappear, but not always.
If I was just recording into channel 1 of the Duet and I encounter the problem, I physically unplug the source and put it into channel 2 and re-arm the input and/or the record and then I have 2 sides again... strange.
As well, when I use a Logic session template under this same setup, I can hear my guitar in both ears , but the moment I mute an effect in the channel strip I'm playing through... boom.... one ear/side is gone. I can only get it back by unmuting the effect or going through the above mentioned unplugging routine.
To sum up, I should be able to simply monitor my guitar or mic input in both ears (stereo) without it disappearing randomly. I know a guitar/mic is mono but you should be able to have it coming out both sides. It always worked until the Duet started acting up.
Lately, I also have been hearing strange artifacts and phasing when monitoring a LIVE source back through the Duet... this is intermittent but becoming more frequent. Previously recorded tracks are sounding ok.
Any tips or similar experiences? I'll give Apogee a buzz and see what they can offer.
    Thanks all.
    Dave

    Hi,
Thanks for offering your tip... much appreciated. When setting Mono versus Stereo, are you referring to the little "circle" icons at the bottom of the channel strip, next to the "I" (input monitoring)?
I did have it set to mono, with a single meter in the mixer window channel strip and still had the right channel disappearing suddenly problem. Speaking of the mono/stereo circle icons, why is it that some channel strips show these icons but others don't? I have two guitar tracks that both play back fine, but one allows access to the mono/stereo select icon but the other doesn't display it. They're both identical in every other way.
My feeling is that this could be a Duet problem because of the thin phasey ring modulation sound and level changes that will appear suddenly while monitoring a clean input source moments after everything was just fine.
Maybe this is because I'm still on 8.0 and Tiger? I'm in the middle of a project and can't risk update problems right now. What do think about the latest Logic with Leopard....safe to do and still have access to previous Logic 8.0 session files?
    Thanks for your kind advice!
    Cheers,
    Dave

  • Xi-Fi Fatality Rear channels appear in the front chann

?My fron speakers are some how using the rear channels as well when I test them, and it's apparent that the rear speakers are not being used save for quiet feedback. ?I'm using an Xi-Fi Xtremegamer Fatality card, Vista 32-bit, and logitech Z-5500s. There is nothing wrong with my speakers i've checked them and test the audio channels and they're fine.
?I've tried reinstalling and updating the dri'ves to no avail. Any insight or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  • Quick comparison of patches vs. channel strip vs set vs concert ..????

    howdy
just trying to differentiate between patches - channel strips - sets and concerts -
i will be using mainstage for keysounds triggered by my midi keyboard....drum sound triggered by midi drum i/o .....and hopefully guitar and vox as well -
would each channel strip correspond to an instrument? (drums, keys, guit, vox)
and then each channel has a patch (tone) ??
then whats a set and concert exactly?
im sure this is a noob question, but nonetheless would like an explanation based on anyones personal experience..
my greatest concern is latency, so any info on the proper hierarchy and safe guards (muting patches when they are not processing audio???) to reduce delay would be greatly appreciated
    fro

Concert = the file; it contains everything, sets, patches & channel strips.
Set = a collection of patches & their channel strips. This is an organisational device that allows you to sort patches by various criteria. EG, in one concert, I have two sets with identical guitar channel strips but with a different synth for each set.
Patch = a collection of channel strips. These can be any mixture of audio and synth, eg CS1 guitar, CS2 voice, CS3 synth 1, CS4 synth 2 etc
In addition you may have as many busses as you need.
Now to the confusing part. The hierarchy listed above is a good way to start with MainStage. It is simple and clear.
If you have a channel strip that will not change during a set, it may be more efficient to insert it at the Set level rather than the Patch level. That way, you only have to set it up once. Why would you want to do this when it is so easy to set up a channel strip? just a couple of mouse clicks should suffice.
Inserting a channel strip at Set level means that you only have to set up the MIDI controls for that patch once in the editor. This can save a lot of time if you have a synth with a complex control structure.
I understand that only the active patch in MainStage uses processor power. (If I am wrong, you should get a correction fairly soon.) The only problem I find with large concerts is the length of time it can take for a large concert to load.

  • No Audio When Set to Built-in Line Output

I have my FCP audio setting (found under Audio/Video settings) set the same as my system settings, "Built-in Line Output" for Audio Playback. I get no sound, to my external speakers, when playing a clip with this setting. If I switch to "Built-in Output" it plays fine through my tower's built-in speaker. I've reset and rebooted and nada, what am I over looking?
Edit in: BTW, all other wares play fine through my external speakers.
    Thanks

I think you answered your own question. All audio should be AC3.

For example, if you have a 5. channel speaker system, select 5.."
if, i didn't change the creative mixer to "disable the option for digital output", will it cause the centre and sub woofer have no sound at all? plesae reply A.S.A.P. as i don't know weather it is the problem of the sound card or just a problem of the setting.....thanks alot.

  • S750 Front and Rear Channels failed

My new (3weeks) Gigaworks S750 System's front and rear channels have failed. Only the side/center/sub channels play back sound.
For the reference the sub still plays the LFE on those channels.
If there is a fix, I will do it. If this is a defect, I am going to Logitech. Buying a $500 speaker system implies it should work perfectly.

    Hi,
I hav got the same problem with my system. Check if you have put the Speaker Setup in 7.1 mode or not. To do this,
Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Click Audio Tab > Click Advanced button under Sound Playback to open Advance Audio Properties window.
Click Speakers tab > In Speaker Setup, select the type of speakers. In your case, select "7.1 Surround Sound Speakers". Try this and let me know if your problem got solved.

  • S750 with interference on front and rear channels

I bought my Gigaworks S750 speakers with my X-Fi Elite Pro almost 2 years ago now, and up until about a month ago have been having no problems. Recently however there has been this really irritating interference coming through on the front and rear channels. It only seems to be occurring after the system warms up a bit (the sound is good when the system starts up), and it also doesn't seem to occur when using volumes under 50% (in windows). At first I figured that it was related to a new X-Fi driver that I had installed a week or so before the problem developed, and for a while was just trying different software things to fix it. Eventually I began to have a suspicion that it was the speakers. After checking the Creative knowledge-base, I unplugged the speakers from my PC, and used the Green, Black, and Yellow plugs in the headphone jack of my iPod to attempt to rule out the sound-card. Well, even when plugging the speakers directly into my iPod (so it definitely isn't the PC) the interference is still there, I have also tried swapping speakers around (to make sure it wasn't problems with the individual satellites) and it appears to definitely be an issue somewhere between the Front, and Rear channel inputs on the sub, and the front and rear channel outputs, where the satellites are plugged in. Seeing as it's been 2 years, my unit is out of warranty, so if I can possibly avoid shipping it to Creative for repairs, I would, but I'm not particularly good with electronics work (I understand capacitors, inductors, speakers, circuit-boards, and soldering, but am not confident working with any of that stuff). So if there is anyone out there with more experience than me, who has any suggestions as to what the cause might be, so I can somehow attempt to get it fixed without sending it away, I would be extremely grateful... not that I'm expecting much, but almost anything would be preferable than having to send them all away.

Hey guys, Andy, I looked around the top amp board like you said, found a few spots where the rubber stuff had been heat affected, and might have been causing short circuits. I carefully scraped it off, catching all the stuff I scraped off, and then tried to test it. Still no good. Just for the record, my capacitors are not the yellow ones, rather they are the large blue ones like in the picture. I bought these speakers to listen to music, not to learn how to fault-find on complex electronic circuitry. If there was a repair service offered by Creative for a price that is within reason, I would have used it with no second thoughts, but there isn't, and I feel that their customer support system overall is severely lacking. On the topic of the rubber vibration dampening material, I cannot believe that Creative has (and continues to) sell a product with a fault such as this! Surely a problem like their products developing short circuits due to materials chosen is something that they would have considered during the designing of the system, and once it became aparrant, they should have found an alternative material (if one exists) that would eliminate the issue. As is, I have a feeling that them selling this speaker system either breaks Australian Law, or comes extremely close depending on how you interpret the following:
As a consumer, goods that you purchase must:
be of merchantable quality goods have to meet a basic level of quality and performance given the price and description of the goods

Under the Trade Practices Act 974 you may seek a refund if goods:
are or become faulty through no fault of your own

For a product they sell to develop short circuits (under conditions in which the system is supposed to function correctly, because a sub is going to heat up every time it's used) doesn't really meet a "basic level of quality" especially given the price of the goods! If you can classify leaving the speakers on for a period of a few days at a time, then sure, they became faulty through fault of my own. I however was under the impression that speakers were to be used, and that to use them they had to be turned on at some point, and that they should continue to function (within reason... like 5 or 7 years...) no matter how long they were left on.
I really am extremely tempted to follow this up, not because $600 means so much to me, but more because Creative has been selling this product with it's faults for a long time, and I really don't believe it is acceptable for them to do that, only offer a year warranty, and then expect us to pay almost the price of a new unit to get it repaired after that year.
Sorry to put you through a?rant. I didn't post this in your "successful repair of s750 with blown fuse" thread because it isn't relevant to anyone outside of Australia (athough similar laws may exist within your countries), and it would have been rude of me to spam in your very useful thread. However, if you do think it is relevant, and would like to to post it in the other thread, I can do that too.
As I said, I may, or may not follow this up, but I'm going to look into it, and I just hope Creative get the message that even though their product has great sound quality, the actually quality of the manufacture isn't acceptable
Andy, thanks for all your suggestions, I really appreciate your help.
    Regards,
    Tim

  • Left Rear Channel on Inspire 4100 no longer working

I have one left rear channel no working or working intermittently. I am not electronically incline to dig in and solder things out to make it work so I am looking if I can still either (a) purchase a refurbished 400 sub or (b) send it out to you guys so it can be repaired.
    Any ideas moderators?
    Thanks

To find that out you would have to contact support. They do have options for people out of warranty, although as it appears that product is discontinued they may not have any refurbished/replacement units available. (Their normal option is to replace instead of repair, and unfortunately the sub is most of the cost of a speaker set). Still worth contacting them about it though.

  • Can I edit the size of my photo when setting up an email signature?

Can I edit the size of my photo when setting up an email signature?

Not sure what you mean by "photo screen?" Do you mean your Photo Stream?
In the Photos app there are several ways to view the photos. Tap on Albums. Your Photo Stream is one Album but there may be others including the Camera Roll, albums made on the iPad with photos from the Camera Roll, and albums of photos copied to your iPhone by syncing with your computer.
To remove albums from the Camera Roll, tap on the Camera Roll album to see the small thumbnails of the photos there. Tap on Select, tap on the photos to delete, then tap on the trashcan. The photos will then be moved to another album called Recently Deleted. They remain there for 30 days to allow you time to reconsider whether you really want to delete them or not. After 30 days they will automatically be deleted from your iPhone. But if you are sure you want the photos deleted from your iPhone delete them again from the Recently Deleted album.
Albums created on the iPad with photos from the Camera Roll can be deleted in the same way.
To delete albums copied to your iPhone by syncing with your computer running iTunes are deleted by doing another sync. But before you click on Sync deselect the albums in iTunes. Then when you click on Apply or Sync the albums will be removed from your iPhone but they will remain on your computer.
