No rear sound in 5.1 configurat

Hello. I have an AN8 32x Motherboard, SLi 6800 GS, 2GB PC3200, AMD Athlon x2 4400+, Windows XP Corporate, Logitech Orbit MP Webcam (if that matters, and it's disconnected right now), and a new X-FI XtremeMusic Edition. fWhat happens is that when I play music, all of the speakers work fine. But when I go into the THX Setup Console, I run a test on all of my speakers and the 3 front speakers work fine. But when it comes to the rear speakers, it just says REAR LEFT and REAR RIGHT in my two front speakers. I also don't have ANY EAX WHATSOEVER available in any of my applications or games (it's greyed out or it says it's not detected on my system configuration... that can't be right because I just purchased an X-FI with EAX 5.0 support). And when I play movies, when the sound configuration is set to 5., the sound is all muffled and very hard to hear and/or understand. I also disabled onboard sound in my BIOS, but that didn't seem to help much. All of the speakers are connected properly, I checked that at least 5 times (it's an analog connection with the Green, Orange, and Black connectors). I also had the exact same problems on my old Audigy Gamer card. Anybody help? Did I just purchase this X-FI card for no reason whatsoever? Thanks anybody that can help, I truely appreciate it.
-Wesley

Have you found a solution for that problem yet ? I have exactly the same problem. I have the Zalman 5. headset and when I play any EAX enabled game, my front right speaker makes little sound. GVames I've tried: Americas Army, Far Cry, Call Of Duty 2 and they all have the same problem. Setting the X-Fi to 4. gives perfect sound from all directions.

  • No rear sound with SB PCI

    Hello all,
I have a SB PCI 28 (CT4750) since a long time and I never succeeded in making it working with front and rear sound. I found some threads dealing with this problem but the solutions proposed didn't worked.
    The situation is:
    - the card is well connected to a 4. system with 2 cables
    - i'm under Windows XP, i have set sound speaker configuration to quadriphonic
    - with the latest drivers update (SBPCI_WebDrvsV5_2_0.exe) no sound come from rear speakers.
    - with the other drivers proposed (SBPCI28Setupus_w2k.exe, recommended by some threads about pci 28 problems) i have a little sound from rear but all sounds (front and rear) are of a very bad quality.
    Does anyone could help please?
    (sorry for my bad english)

    Hey,
I've been having the same problem. I also have a SB PCI28 (Model CT4750) and I have tried both drivers as well with the same results. The SBPCI_WebDrvsV5_2_0.exe driver works the best but I am unable to get rear sound to work. The SBPCI28Setupus_w2k.exe driver fixes the problem of getting the rear channels to work but the sound quality is bad. It sounds as though it skips and pops randomly (5 - 60 second intervals) when playing music and doesn't sound the greatest when playing games.
There HAS to be a solution to this. A driver that totally works or a setting change?
    Does anyone have a solution?

  • Rear sounds have no bass at

    Hi,
I tried to find a solution for this problem but didn't find it.
So I just got a x-fi xtremegamer and I'm using it with my 5. headphones. While I'm playing a game there's a really big difference between rear and front sounds, as rear sounds are not as soft as the rest. I don't really know if thats what 5. sounds usually are, but its so big difference between them.
For example when I am ingame and i have a car in front of me, it really does sound like a car. But, when I turn my back at the car, it sounds like a vacuum cleaner or something, its really annoying.
The problem is not in my headset, as i tried to switch the cables (put the headphones front cable to soundcards rearline etc), and then my front sounds were quite poor. Also I've put settings of the soundcard to defaults but it doesn't have an effect to it. So whats wrong with my rearline?

You're not get ANY sound out of your sub? Have you checked to see if it is not blown? If you have any cheap speakers around you might want to switch (and as I always remind everyone an extra set of cheap small speakers is always good to hang on to) to remove that from your list of possible causes.

  • XP 64 bit - 5.1 - Rear Sound comes from front Speak

    Hi,
i have upgraded from xp 32 bit to XP 64. I have a problem with my elite pro:
This card ist playing now the 5. rear sound on the both front boxes. I'm extremly frustrated because i'm trying to solve this problem since 5 Hours. I have tried a lot of drivers - the rear sound comes from the front.
    Anybody any idea ?

"You know, you could just walk behind your computer and switch the cables front and rear cables... "?Brilliant, that would make all sound come out the rears. Why didn't I think of that??I've cleaned and reinstalled, tried drivers without updates, updates without drivers, the best i can do id enable CMSS 3D and get a kind of *******ised stereo that i cam fade front to rear. I cannot get 5. separation with XFi XtremeGamer Fatalty Pro under XP64 and 4gB RAM, and it REALLY pisses me off that I accidenetally helped the OP and I'm stuck with the same issue LOL.

  • Windows 7 64bit and Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium - No rear sound

As the title says I have a sound blaster x-fi titanium running on a windows 7 64bit box. I have downloaded all the latest drivers and tools from creative. The issue is no matter what I do I cannot get the 5. surround working. I have the front 3 speakers working and I can even get it to double the two front side speakers to the rear, but not true 5.. I have tried both DD li've and DTS. I have an Onkyo HT-R550 receiver that supports both DD and DTS and I'm connected over a digital optical cable. Trying to figure this one out!
I've gone through all the modes in the creative audio software and tried all the surround modes on the receiver.
    Please help

Ok. I have actually formatted my hard dri've to fix another windows and I'm back where I was. I'm testing using the speaker page in the console. I get great sound from all 3 front speakers and my sub. What I've found when clicking the back two I will get a very quiet but clear test voice through both rear speakers, no matter which side I picked. Also the bass portion of the test comes through the sub as normal. I can't seem to get the rear speakers to test any louder.
I did the surround sound speaker test and it all sounds good (without the PC involved). Also my PS3 plays great surround sound through it using the same optical cable.
I also tried your suggestion with no improvement.
    What's next?

  • Center Speaker plays center sounds and rear sounds. Inspire 5.1 5300 speakers.

My inspire 5.1 5300 speakers are set up for 5.1 surround sound. I have CMSS enabled. I hear static from the rear speakers. Everything seems to be set up just fine. But when I run the speaker test the front right, center, and front left work. The rear left and rear right speaker sound comes out of the center speaker instead of the rear speakers even though the center speaker also gives out the correct test sound.
I have an audigy card, SB0090 is the model number. I don't know the retail name.

I dont see how the sub wont work. It has the seperate front, rear, and center in. The sub should work with just the front in as far as i know. My SBS 450 seems to work that way... i have yet to get my inspire 5.1 working but ill find out if i happen to..

  • Asus Xonar DGX no rear sound / mic. Front panel sound/mic ok. [SOLVED]

    Hi guys,
I have a ASUS Xonar DGX PCI-E GX2.5 sound card since my onboard audio crapped out on my motherboard. I just did a first time install on my desktop and the rear portion of my card refuses to work. If I connect up my speakers to my analog output in the back I don't have any options in my sound manager for the analog output to just be a 2.0 system. I get 4.0, 4.1, 5.0, 5.1. All of which do not work obviously. Also my microphone doesn't work plugged into the actual card. If I plug them into the front panel audio, both the microphone and headphone out work. I did some searching, and it seems like a likely cause has something to do with amixer being multichannel. I tried several commands but wasn't successful in getting the audio to work through the back. Any help would be useful, I'm still trying to learn a lot about Arch while doing all this. Thanks in advance!
Solution. Using Alsamixer in terminal and selecting the analog out as stereo headphones, instead of stereo headphones (fp).

Search for vid and pid combination, ergo 13f6:8788 in your case. This should be one of the search terms, vid and pid could be also separated, other search terms could include oxygen, sonar, dgx and so on. Simple google search should turn something up.
Edit: The point is to locate a thread/post where the support for this card was implemented/talked about. It could provide some further insight.
The simplest approach would be to download linux-rt sources from aur with yaourt, modify PKGBUILD, compile and then install.
    yaourt -G linux-rt
    cd linux-rt
Copy this into PKGBUILD replacing the original:

  • No Rear Sound On Audigy 2 Va

i dont have any rear or center sound on the audigy 2 value card. im using logitech x-530 5. speakers and i am positi've they are connected correctly, but when i go to select a speaker configuration in speaker settings, there is nothing listed as if it doesnt even recognize my speakers, but the front two and the sub work fine. i have enabled CMSS but it still doesnt work

Can you check the rear output on the soundcard with a set of headphones, to check if that works? As long as the speaker selection is set correctly (5.), then it should work.

  • Front and rear sound pinouts

I have the Master 2 far and when it arrived I connect the rear USB/Audio card to the motherboard. This gives me 2 USB ports, MIC IN and Audio OUT at the back of the PC.
The AMAMAX case I bought features two USB ports and an Audio-out and MIC-IN on the front.
I managed to plug in all the USB ports so I now have front and back USB, 6 in all. What I'm struggling with is the audio. I want to be able to have audio out at the back for the speakers to be plugged into, but I'd also like the option of plugging in a headset and mic at the front. Ideally the sound should always come out the back ports till the mic and headphone set is plugged in.
I see there is the JAUD1 which is where my current rear audio is plugged in. I want to optionally plug in the front audio too. Any suggestions on how this would be possible with this board are greatly appreciated. I wondering if there's an audio splitter (y -cable), but the issue with that is I can't see the front headset over-riding the rear audio.
Lastly, I don't want to simply only plug the front in as then I have to trail the rear speaker cable around the side of the PC to the front. Seems like there ought to be a more intelligent solution.

Fixed my own problem. I put in an older Sound Blaster card and connected the front audio connectors to the motherboard.
    Voila!

  • MediaSource: No left rear sound with mlp 5.0 fi

I have an Audigy 2 ZS running on Win XP. I make my own MLP files. I used to make 5. files, but I just started making 5.0 files (24 bit, 88200 Hz). I play them in MediaSource. 5. files play fine, but with 5.0 files, the left rear speaker is mute. If I use these 5.0 mlp files to create a DVD-Audio, all channels play fine with the Creative DVD-Audio Player or PowerDVD. I have a friend who has exactly the same problem with the same card. This looks like a MediaSource bug. Is there a solution?

I have a variation on that problem. Same speakers and setup... Logitech control console test works fine, THX console polarity test works fine (ergo my connections are ok)... however an individual speaker test (with THX or Creative Audio Console) does the following:
Front Left - both front speakers output sound
    Front Center - fine
    Front Right - no sound
    Rear Right - no sound
Rear Left - both rear speakers output sound
    Subwoofer - fine
I get sound from all speakers when listening to music or playing a game... but in EAX games, any noises coming from the left of me sound like they're coming from both left and right, and I don't hear any noises coming from my right... how's that for a handicap in FPS games. It's all a bit depressing really.
EDIT: seconds after making this post, I rechecked the analog connections to the Logitech control console... turns out they weren't pushed in all the way... the colored plastic bits are so thick it's a wonder they squeeze in next to each other at all (it's even worse on the back of the X-Fi card). Slap on Logitech's wrist, as well as mine. Anyway... I hope you've fixed your problem, Zilion, or if not maybe double check those 'snug' analog jacks if you haven't already.Message Edited by Ilmarin on 05-2-2006 0:4 AM

  • No rear sound

Hi i Have a sound blaster li've card. and altec lansing ADA745 4. speaker system. I recently reformatted my pc updated my drivers including sb li've ,and since then I have not been able to configure my system to play sound in my rear speakers.
I have set the speaker configuration in control panel to quad speaker (there is no 4. option) and in the creative audio HQ setup i have ticked the synchronize with control panel option, but it still will not give me an option other than 2/2. speaker set up.
As i use my system to watch dvd's this is a real pain for me. If anyone can help me out i would be very greatful.
    Thanks in advance.

I had an SB Li've!, but I've since replaced it. So I'm going from memory, and I have only some suggestions you could try. Have you tried uninstalling and removing the soundcard (a cleansweep), rebooting so that Windows doesn't find the card, and then reinstalling the soundcard and software? One other thing, did you install from the original CD before updating the drivers? (And your onboard audio is disabled, right?)

  • No rear sound 4.1 Vi

Just a few days ago I had all my speakers working fine. All the sudden one day none of them work. Reinstalled the drivers and now only have the front two channels and sub. I can not get the rear two speakers to work. I have completly uninstalled the drivers and any associated programs for Creative, and reinstalled the proper drivers for vista 32bit. Can anyone direct me on what I should do to get all 4 channels to work again?

Have you tried plugging your rear speakers into the front speaker jack in your sound card to check whether they are still operational or not
Do you have any other audio-related devices installed on your system (webcams, headphones, USB audio devices, etc.) If so, can you list them
Is your motherboard audio enabled or disabled
Giving a list of what hardware you have in or connected to your system will help us troubleshoot your problem.

  • No rear sound in nfs

i have an inspire t5400 speaker system and sb live 24 bit
When i play need for speeed hot pursuit 2 the rear speakers don't produce any sound or they just play the same sound as the front speakers
    any suggestions

You need to set the game's sound output mode to DS3D/EAX from within the game. NFS:HP2 definitely has 3D sound.

    Incubus0588,
CMSS is an upmix feature of EAX that allows stereo sound to be played back over surround speakers. It can be enabled in the EAX console; however I don't think it is the problem here. I want to run a couple of tests:
) Plug the cord for the rear speakers into the Green (front speaker out) jack on the card and run a speaker test. Does it produce sound from the rear speakers?
    2) Plug the cord from the front speakers into every one of the jacks one at a time running a test for every one. Note what you hear when you run the test (are you hearing Center, Rear, or Front speakers). Also is the a sound playback icon showing up in front of all the speakers as they are tested in the picture on Creative Speaker settings when you run the test?

  • Rear sound goes to front speaker with DDL/DTS Connect (Xfi Platinum)

DRear sound goes to front speaker with DDL/DTS Connect (Xfi Platinum)T Hey there,
I just installed the newest modded driver from [url="http://forums.creative.com/t5/Sound-Blaster/X-Fi-Auzen-2-20-0002-0-RC4-2-dated-5th-November-2009/td-p/540790">here[/url] and now I have the problem that when using DDL/DTS Connect (yes I have it activated!): the rear left channel gets output on my front left speaker, and the rear right goes to front right. My externaldecoder is correctly identifying the output stream as DD/DTS and the front speaker and subwoofer works fine. Also when using my Xbox 360 the sounds correctly get to the rear speakers, so this is likely not a problem of my decoder.
Anyone had a similar problem to this? Any idea why this happens?
    My system:
    Windows 7 x64
    Intel Core2Quad Q6600
    4 GB RAM
    nVidia Geforce 9800 GTX+

H I noticed this doesn't just happen with DDL/DTS Connect. The same behaviour happens when I connect my headphones to the plugs on the back of my computer. The rear plugs don't output anything, while the front plugs have "double" output.
I tried all kinds of different drivers, always removing the previous ones and restarting before trying a new one. Right now I'm with the official 2.8.003 X-Fi driver.
    Please, somebody help!
